I had the opportunity to fly over the Buddy Holly crash site in august 2023 and to visit the resting site this year. I would recommend to anyone to watch the Waylon Jennings inside fame. So much more insight on the story and the true affects the crash had on people. Rest easy to a founding father of rock and roll!

There are no words to describe the gravesite, but you definitely find yourself singing some of his songs when you visit it.

I loved visiting BUT you would think Lubbock would do something special to honor a Lubbock original famous musician and put something bold. The first time visiting we drive right past it then once we found it it almost feels like we were driving right over his grave because its right by the road and its a lay flat head stone I was looking for a big guitar or even a Buddy Holley statue kinda like you see around town. There was another couple there and they said the same thing they took drove past it.

This is where our loved ones are buried and the place looks like a jungle full of weeds and mosquitoes everywhere because the grass wasnt cut. There was dead trees laying around that should not have been out there. This is a historical landmark and it was horrible. Weeds where taller than the headstones. Please do something about this. Rest havens cemetery was clean and cut.

I am from Lubbock and have always been disappointed with his gravesite. He was an afterthought for many years until they finally realized that people come from all over the world to visit it.. However, I am happy to say that the city has finally memorialized him the way that he deserves; with the museum and statues, etc.

Buddy Hollys final resting place is located on the east side of the Eastlawn Memorial Gardens or Lubbock Cemetery in Manhattan Heights. The cemetery itself is well kept and clean enough. Just pick up after yourself out of respect for Holly and his family. Whether youre a fan or just curious I recommend making a quick stop.
