Fireside surf is really fun and now I m hooked for surfing! All of their staff is not only very friendly but also highly skilled. Very patient in giving out any advice when you are about to start your session. Lewis is a very good instructor and has the abilities in getting to your surfing goals! The food is fantastic and the drinks sooo good. This is definitely a must-visit for anyone looking for a great experience! Note: If you feel questioning yourself whether you can surf? Not to worry the environment, staff, and the people is very encouraging!

I went here out of curiosity. I was blown away by the food. The ceviche is so fresh with delicious flavors. The sliders are nice which was surprising for a beach style place. Ive been back many times and finally tried surfing. It was easier to learn than I thought, I was able to get moving within a session. They show you what to do and it becomes really fun. Definitely a good time.

Awful service all around. Host was good, however all other servers did not care to answer questions. Asked the server for domestic beer and she did not know if they even served beer. Asked a manager working for a drink and he told us to ask the waitress who just stood there. Very disappointing. Will not be going back. Update: After seeing the reply, I would like to add we went to the bar first and asked for a domestic beer where the bartender told my husband we would have to order through our waitress. Once our waitress came he then asked her if they served domestic beers which she replied she did not know while standing there waiting for us to order something different. My husband then stopped the manager walking by and asked for a domestic beer where he also redirected us the same server who didn t even know what a domestic beer was. We ended up leaving without ordering due to this. I would recommend investing in some training for all servers and managers at this establishment and grow from this review.

2 people in our group got hurt (shoulder and busted lip and knee). The wipe outs are dangerous. We quit halfway through because we didn t feel safe and it wasn t worth it. We came because we wanted to practice and maintain skills for ocean surfing, but this didn t feel the same at all. I m sure some elements transfer, but we won t be going back. I wouldn t recommend to anyone. It s really small, so even up riding the wave wasn t that fun. But other people in our group seemed to be enjoying themselves.

GROTESQUELY DISSATISFIED WITH THE FOOD & SERVICE! The Good: My friends & I were so excited to visit this establishment. We were warmly welcomed, and greeted by a surf instructor. Everything looked so beautiful, clean, and pristine. We managed to find a nice table out of the sun, but with an excellent view of the surfing area. The sound of the waves were so soothing. The music reminded me of being at a resort in Jamaica. The ambience was warm and tropical. It started out great! The Bad: Our server (short wavy hair) brought the ENTIRE mood down; she was unenthusiastic, and could be seen chatting at the bar with the bartender. She completely ignored us for a good amount of time, and eventually came over and offered us water. The menu was lackluster. I settled on burger sliders. When the server brought my food over, I noticed his thumb touching one of my miniature burgers. I didn t want to make a scene, and opted to cut off the part of the burger that he was touching, only to discover medium rare meat inside. I had to wait, and snack on my sweet potato fries, while I ordered the chicken sliders instead. A lot of our entrees were undercooked, including the grilled shrimp that was poorly seasoned, and tasted directly from the sea. The food was absolutely horrible in every sense. We will most likely visit again to surf, and not partake in food and beverages. The surfing instructors seemed incredibly friendly and were smiling. They appeared to be enjoying their jobs.

Did a beginner lesson session then stayed for lunch. Surf Session: Board & rash guard shirt was included. The 2 instructors were amazing! It was my first time and I improved drastically over the 40 minute session thanks to the instruction. There were 4 surfers in the group which was great. Got plenty of surf time. Locker Room: I didnt use a locker but did take a shower. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided. I could see through the shower curtain and the water never got warm. If you like your privacy plan to shower in your swimwear. But keep in mind its chilly! Food: I had the power bowl and it was delicious! Id go here for a bite/beverage even if I wasnt participating because food is good and its fun to watch the surfers.

The place itself if great to sit back enjoy some food and drinks, but more staff is needed asap. There was 1 waitress for the entire lower patio area and watching her run to countless tables was a bit much. Mgmt should consider more hiring more staff, saw about 9 different groups get seated then leave due to shortage of employees.

I am a local surfer here and after reading some of the reviews on here I felt I should share mine as well. The staff here are great people. To anyone reading this review, there are reasons you are asked to do certain things. You may think its unfair but they have these rules in place to protect the surfers. Without these rules we wont be allowed to surf. So please listen to the staff as they are just trying to do their jobs and make sure we stay safe. I have been happy with all of the concepts of this place since they have started and I will continue coming out. The surf instructors are very helpful, great music, great times.

We had walked by this place a few times when visiting Grandscape, so we reserved a table to celebrate a special occasion in our family. Lovely ambiance. We ordered a Japanese & Jack Daniels whiskey. Japanese whiskey was meh. Also, I ordered the surf ranch cocktail, which was not good at all! To eat, we ordered mediterranean cauliflower & crispy coconut shrimp. Both were loved by all. Also, we tried out avocado falafel wrap, which was delish!! And tuna burger, again loved by all. Our server, Alicia, was very sweet and kind and helped with the menu. We should have asked her when ordering drinks, but we were feeling adventurous... oh well... We definitely recommend a visit. Vegetarian options: There are a few. Parking: There is a lot of free parking available in grandscape. Kid-friendliness: Its a family friendly restaurant and you can book a surf session if youre interested.

We really enjoyed our visit here. I wish I would have snapped a picture of the venison tacos before we ate them, but they were really good; we had a side of fries as well and they were crisp and delish . Absolutely recommend both. I was also pleasantly surprised at the variety and delicious taste of all the fruit in the kid s side of fruit ( if you have a very young kiddo, just be mindful that they may have pomegranate seeds in the mix). The atmosphere was very chill and entertaining to watch the surfers. I only knocked off a star (I wish I could have knocked off just half a star) because the service was a bit slow; to be fair, it was busy and our server was very friendly. You ll enjoy yourself here, hands down.

Such a cool place! The wave pool is AWESOME! Been to one on Oahu and San Diego.. this one is def top tier! They offer surf lessons and have some really unique menu items too! Highly recommend. Update: we still love fireside surf! We take family visiting from out of town here and they re always in awe about the surfing. That being said, I just wish service was a little better. It has been really consistent on servers either being super slow, not attentive or just forgetting order requests. Every time we are seated it seems to take staff members 10-15 minutes to recognize our existence. Service seems to be the best when Billy is around. We still 100% support this place but I just think the workers need to be more attentive to their surroundings. The slowness has affected the way we do tip here so if workers could realize that and be more attentive we would certainly appreciate it as customers. Other than that we still give this place a 10/10!

My husband I had SO MUCH FUN! We did a beginner course and it felt like the right length of time to enjoy it without getting too exhausted. The staff here are so kind and helpful. After surfing we went up to the bar area and enjoyed delicious food and drinks while watching people who are much better at surfing than we are. Our server Caleb was incredibly attentive - the sliders are top notch. We really enjoyed the entire evening. Really, the staff were great and a huge reason why we enjoyed the surf. A few tips that I think are helpful for other noobs like us: 1. Arrive extra early. You have to sign waivers and get set up. It seems like you have to wear the white swim shirt they provide, so ladies, no need to bring a full shirt swim top, but also dont wear triangles, you will wipe out and when you do, your top is likely to shift and that white shirt becomes translucent when wet. Also, I wouldnt wear regular bikini bottoms. Wear swim SHORTS or you risk giving everyone a show. 2. Speaking of a show, there will be an audience. People watch from inside and outside the fence. But dont worry, no one is judging you. All levels surf the wave and everyone wipes out. 3. You have to wear a goofy helmet in the beginner lesson. Its a flexible one, not like a hard one. But it seems that once adults get a few wipeouts under their belt, you can remove it. 4. Maybe its just me, but I thought wed have to learn to get up on the board. You dont. You stand on the board from the side of the pool and immediately surf the wave from a standing position. They will put a bar across the pool to hold onto so you can get a feel for surfing on the board with assistance. Then they remove it and you practice without the bar. 5. They have restrooms with showers and lockers. This was a nice surprise. They provide shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. If you want to hang out and eat after your surf, bring flip flops, a towel and change of clothes. Im a bit bruised and sore the next day but it was well worth it. Definitely going back as soon as possible!

Fun experience, but mediocre drinks and horrible food. What a fun and exciting experience to watch! However, their food is sooooo bad. I ordered the Brussel sprout dish and sent it back for being soooo salty. The server was confused at what to do, so I told her to please have the kitchen remake it. Second time around - same issue. SO SALTY! Unbearably salty! I had 3 people taste the dish and they had the exact same experience. I told the server the same thing and she (verbatim) tells me she doesn t know what to do and cannot guarantee the dish will be taken off my tab. Are you kidding me? 20 minutes later, she comes around and couldn t give me an update because her manager was no where to be found. How frustrating. Train your staff much better to know how to handle these situations. I would never come back for food or drinks as the food is obviously horrible and their drinks are overpriced and weak (less than 1 shot). I give this place a year max before going under. Edit to add: I had THREE DRINKS (2 being well tequila and 1 was $14) my tab was $47!!!!! $47!!!!!!!! I cannot tell you to avoid this place like the plague for the good and drinks. GOOD LUCK to them as a business!!

Fantastic tropical atmosphere. Food is terrific. My favorite so far is the Fish Tacos. Today on the 4th of July Im trying the cheeseburger. The wave is incredible. The crew is really good about adjusting the wave shape and size to best cater to the surfers. My girlfriend had never surfed until Fireside. Now shes hooked. We have had so much fun learning together. Really appreciate the instructors helping on the sidelines. When surfing in the ocean you maybe get 2-3 mins of actual surf time if youre lucky. Here you get an ample amount of ride time to really work on form and technique. Owners and staff are awesome. They go out of their way to ensure everyone stands on the wave and has a blast. 5 Stars here. Excited Dallas/Fort Worth has this option.

Wonderful experience at Fireside! I originally came here to meet with friends, but an opportunity came up to get in and surf, so I took it. From the moment I decided to surf, everyone at Fireside was so kind, helpful and informative. Safety is their priority, then comes fun! They set me up with a wetsuit (but the water was plenty warm), a rash guard, a helmet and plenty of instruction. Also, the boards are made of a softer foam, so when you fall into the wave, it won t hurt if the board bumps you (but this didn t happened to me and I fell plenty!). One instructor held my board at the edge of the pool and showed me where to place my feet and how to stand up, while another instructor got on his board across the pool, rode the wave over to me, took my hands, and brought me out to the middle of the wave, all standing! We did this several times, and each time was better than the one before, thanks to lots of helpful feedback and encouragement. They eventually had me standing in the middle of the wave on my own! As a side note, I used to live in Hawaii, had a surfboard and would go surfing on the North Shore, but I was never able to stand up. I always caught waves lying down on my board, so standing up surfing at Fireside was a big success for me! All thanks to the wave pool and the amazing, kind, and patient instructors at Fireside! You ll probably work up an appetite shredding the wave, but fear not because their food is super delicious and also very healthy! And their seating is so comfortable, so you can enjoy yourself whether you re surfing, watching, eating, or enjoying a drink after a surf sesh! They have really nice restrooms, showers, natural bath products and lockers, so you really just need to bring yourself, a suit & towel, and get out on that wave! I highly recommend visiting Fireside Surf at Grandscape!

They only noticed me when I walked in through a door that was left open just to make me leave. When I said I drove a long way, she just shrugged. FYI It s not a big place so it might be a mess when it s crowded. DJ was playing good music atleast. Interesting surfing concept and would ve been fun to have had atleast a drink and sit down. The instructor suggested us that we grab a drink or a bite after our first surf session while we waited for the next beginner wave in an hour. We get one drink each and then are told at the beginning of my next session by a new instructor that we cant surf because he saw us drinking alcohol. This place is a bar, advertising happy hour and craft cocktails everywhere. Not a single sign in the place or note on the menu you cant surf after having a single overpriced drink. Completely ruined our day after a long drive. We were there to surf multiple sessions, and would have spent over $500 on just waves. Only got one crowded session and then made to feel completely unwelcome after buying what was recommended to us by staff. Manager on duty was rude about it and acted like we should have read the fine print in our waiver to know of the rule. Not a Texan thing about this place.

I guess the market will pay what it will pay but y all s setup is half as wide as the one in Chelan and one third as wide as the one on Oahu not sure how you get any speed down the line. Glad to see another City Wave setup but not so sure about the pricing. I m in Dallas this week and had seen this and was thinking of visiting but can t support that kind of pricing. Suggest taking a look at others and maybe reining it in a bit. Best of luck.

The process of getting gear and suiting up was smooth, the staff was very friendly and were great at teaching me how to surf (where to put my feet, how to balance, etc.)

Disappointing! The value you get VS the experience definitely doesn t justify the price. Both food and surf. 40 minutes for nearly $90 dollars definitely varies with how many people are in your session but when it boils down to it the actual surf time is very short (maybe 10 minutes). They either need to lessen how many people can attend a session or offer longer times. This was booked for a birthday and when choosing a reservation for the restaurant it asked for the reason (birthday, engagement, etc) but nothing was offered? not a song, not a dessert, very disappointed when you re trying to surprise someone as the restaurant makes it seem as though they will offer something for a special occasion. my partner surfed frequently in california and since moving to texas has missed it. Overall a very subpar experience, unfortunate as we were very excited for this to open.

All of the employees should have the same understanding of how your business work, do not make promises if they cannot deliver, and do not misguide your guest with wrongful info, such as you ll get and hour in total, just tell the you want you hour I was told the same story twice by different employees. The session in my opinion is too expensive, based on the actual surf time you get, and obviously they are going to tell you if you want to get more surf time reserve the wave so you can get more surf time I mean it s only $800 for a 40 minute buyout. I paid $160 for my child and I for a 40 minute sesh/ 15 minute sesh, oh yeah they shave time off your sesh. Honestly it is a rip off. On top of that the restaurant is crazy slow, took me an hour just to get water, and another hour and 15 minutes o get my food, the food is not that great, but i understand it s a novelty, they do not care about the experience you get, because they are going to get business no matter what. I gave them one star simply because some of the staff is friendly, while some others are horrible, they act like they are doing me a favor. I do not recommend this place.

I took my teenage kids here for a surf session, and we had a blast. I was more than happy to take a rest after the first session, but as soon as it was over the kids said, Lets go again! Dad happily complied, haha. It is definitely different from ocean surfing you have to put more weight on your back foot but I could feel my turns had improved when I was back longboarding in the Gulf the next week. The food at Fireside was tasty, and you cant beat the view from the tables overlooking the wave pool (though it is a little intimidating at first when YOU are the one in the pool providing the entertainment for the diners). It was our first trip here, as well as to Grandscape, which offers plenty of dining and entertainment if youre not feeling up for the wave pool. Definitely plan to go back!

So we actually went to check out the mini golf at the place next door for a fun Saturday evening, got there at 9 and the wait time was outrageous. We walked around the corner to Fireside surf and there was no wait as this is a new place. We didnt know what to expect, just wanted some food. We were very pleasantly surprised even with a somewhat limited menu. The food was amazing, the service was great and all of this experience was totally unexpected. We sat along side the surf area and ordered the flatbread appetizer, I had the burger with duck bacon added, and my wife had the fish taco plate. The fig appetizer was amazing, my burger was great with a soft bun that I could sleep on, and the fish taco was different but good. Only complaint was my burger came out first before the appetizer, then a minute later the appetizer, and after 5 minutes my wifes taco plate. The fries were good, but not fresh cut, basically from a frozen bag, but well seasoned. The taco shell was a corn tortilla that lacked flavor and was very dry to eat and broke apart to easily. Aside from these 2 things we were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was and how fresh the dishes were as well. Very good overall and a great experience. Thank you.

It was a cool experience. I ve never surfed before so it was cool to get that feeling. The staff are super friendly and helpful getting suited up, walking you through the process and getting into the water. We arrived for the 3pm session and there was a total of 9 surfers. Most everyone had no experience. Some people picked up on it very quick and spent several minutes each time on the water where other people didn t pick up on it so quickly and would fall after just a couple seconds. After you fell you would go to the back of the line and have to wait for all the other surfers to go again before getting back into the water. My reason for 3 starts is we paid $75 for 40 minute session . Out of the 40 minutes we only Got maybe 5-10 minutes of actual surf time which isn t worth it in my opinion. My recommendation is to go early or late and hope that not a lot of people are in your group so that you get more water time and make it worth the money. I ll be back to try my skills again!

Great coaches and the safety of the machine is top notch. Just make sure not to catch yourself when you fall (with your arms/legs), just eat the wave with your whole body. I want to preface that this review is only pertaining to the Surf Session experience at Fireside. FIRST TIMER SURFERS - PLEASE READ. Show up 30 minutes before your booked session to check in. The staff instructors will confirm your booking, give you a Fireside Rash guard so they know who is going to surf. You will wear a helmet and have the choice to wear a wetsuit under your rash guard. They will ask you if youre REGULAR or GOOFY footed. In a surfing stance, regular stance is left foot forward and Goofy is right foot forward. They will also ask you if you have any boarding experience - this means surfing or wakesurfing - maybe even snowboarding. The staff is nice and helpful. They show you how to fall so you can safely get out of the surf area. Once you get your surfboard and helmet on, you are divided by your surfer stance and get in line to surf. There will be an instructor on each side. They will walk you through steps on how to get into the wave and how to fall safely to come out of it. Keep in mind that you are in line to surf with other people in your surf session. Every surfer will have a different level which means if youre totally new and still figuring out youll wipeout pretty fast. Not a big deal just get back in line. BUT - if youre sharing this session with 10-12 others who may be more skilled than you, your surf time is essentially taken by someone else. Its more likely your session is divided by number of attempts so at max maybe 3 attempts total in a full group. CONSIDER that you are still new and figuring it out, you may wipe out in seconds which means youll spend almost your ENTIRE 40 minutes just standing and waiting in line. I saw a guy in my session stand up get on the wave for a milisecond and wipe out and he got NO redos - that counts as 1 attempt. It was frustrating as more advanced people were in my session and took more of the time that I could be learning on the wave instead I spent most of it watching. Id recommend booking your session on a weekday and during time slots that are not as popular. Youll find that your $75 is better stretched going when not a lot of people are there. Saturdays and Sundays - expect it to be busy and lots of people signing up. There are private sessions you can book but you will have to shell out $900 to buyout the whole thing. The customer service is super friendly and great. If you need to cancel or reschedule theres no penalty if you call in advance. However, youll still be charged for no-shows. Other than that, its a unique concept for Texas where theres no ocean. You can order food and drinks and just watch surfers but I think its better to get out there and try something fun.

I ve seen a few reviews that noted slow service. Although that wasn t our experience, I would only offer that this period is a SOFT opening where the staff is learning the operation, menu, etc. They ve only been open 5 days folks and every food and beverage operation needs to work out some kinks that don t show up if you re not full of customers. Michael and Matty are huge contributors to the incredible atmosphere, and Josh at the bar is killing it even through the chaos of just opening. The bar manger and female server with the short wavy hair are some of the Rudest I ve ever met in customer service. The bar manger speaks rudely to customers, and the employees, doesn t even greet customers, keeps his head down while speaking. He chastised a young female employee right in front of us over counting the register at the end of her shift, it appeared . We could not believe how arrogant and rude this guy was in front of customers. The lady with the short wavy hair doesn t greet, no smile seems unhappy , never collected our money for the Togo order even after we received the food. We had to tell her we haven t paid , she takes the $100 bill for a $45.22 meal, she hands back the bills without counting it back, and walks away. She kept the change, the customers sitting next to us noticed what happened and said That s Theft! We called the server over and asked for the change we were shorted, she had no response just opened the register to get the change and handed to us. No apology. This is probably a regular occurrence. I would advise everyone to count your change. This could be a very nice establishment but the manager and staffer will ruin this business before it even opens fully! Very disappointing.

I bought the 4 pack presale for my son, and we went on the Sunday of soft opening weekend. It was his first time surfing, and he had a blast. The instructors were so sweet and encouraging. After practicing with the bar, my son was able to try free style. He picked it up quickly, and he cant wait to go back. The patio area/cabana area is awesome, and I will make sure to book that the next time we go. Patton was walking around talking to guests and observers, and he was genuinely interested in making sure people were having a great time. Make sure to bring a towel, as we forgot one, and it cost a steep $25 to buy one. Also, I dont know how to figure out how many are in your group, but definitely ask. The group before my son only had 3 surfers, so they got multiple opportunities in the water. My sons group had 10, and he only got 2 shots in his 40 minutes, so he was bummed about that.

What a cool place! Honestly the concept is really cool and we are excited to surf , the owners were friendly and it seemed like they cared! The vibes of the music was great. Over all the customers service form the hosts and waiters was sub par. This location has not had its grand opening yet. But I feel like the staff needs to be trained on how to look, talk and deliver professional hospitality. We reminded the hosts that we have be waiting to be seated after an hour of waiting but we were told there wasn t room for two people, but there were multiple tables open and available. After waiting another hour for our food My wife s burger was cold and the fries were stale, seemed like they were sitting out for a while. The flavor was good, but the patty was more like a meat ball and the proportion to the bun was not great. The bottom of the burger was soggy by the time we got it. After waiting for an EXTRA hour and a half I got my açai bowl. I was expecting more of the picture online, but honestly the pictures attached to this review were pretty much what I received. It was fruit with maybe a 1/4 of a cup of warm acai with the consistency of apple sauce and the rest was fruit. I understand that they are just opening up! So I m not giving up hope! They do need training and maybe some friendly smiles from the serving staff. We will definitely come back after their grand opening to see them knock out some opportunities to improve! Would have been 4 stars But long wait time, hot fruit bowl, cold and stale burger and untrained staff.

While the staff/servers were friendly, the service was bad. After being seated, we waited nearly an hour to get waters. When the food came out, some of the orders were wrong. Lastly, when the busser was clearing our table he over-estimated how much he could carry and accidentally spilled a plate of venison tacos on my lap. Understandable that accidents happen and it s a new restaurant with new staff, but there is definitely room for improvement in regards to service. I ordered the burger which was okay. The patty was way too small for the massive bun they give you. The proportions were so off I got bites of straight bread. It is a cool place and if you enjoy the water/surfing, you ll like the place. I wouldn t come back just for the food.

We didn t surf so I won t go lower than 2 stars. However, the service was subpar. It took almost an hour to get everyone waters. The burger was bland, but still not the worst I ve had. Fries were okay. The server continued offering to comp items, when there were bigger issues to address. My wife and I got a meal and a drink each, and we spent $51 before tip. Didn t taste like a $50 meal. The busser came by and tried to grab way too much at once and ended up spilling food onto my wife. Maybe it s the opening weekend kinks that need to be worked out, but you d think that s the best time to take advantage of customer reviews. The surfing looked cool, but we were having drinks so had to skip that. Not sure we d come back.

Good food! The service is a little slow, but I think that ll even out once they re fully open and find a groove. Everyone is so nice here. This is the type of place where you can meet up with friends or go alone and meet new friends.
