If youre in San Antonio and looking for a delightful dining experience, be sure to visit Meadow Neighborhood Eatery + Bar. This charming spot is perfect for those who enjoy outdoor dining and soaking up the Texas sunshine. The menu is filled with tantalizing options, but a few dishes truly stand out. Their biscuit and gravy is exceptionally light, fluffy, and packed with savory flavor a must-try for breakfast lovers. The Bacon Egg Cheese Fries are indulgent and satisfying, making every calorie worth it. However, the real showstopper is the Banana Bread, a unique and delicious dish that should not be missed. Meadow offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere, with a spacious outdoor seating area where you can unwind and enjoy the fresh air. The service is prompt and efficient, and the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. So, if youre in San Antonio and looking for a memorable meal, head to Meadow Neighborhood Eatery + Bar. With its impressive menu and charming ambiance, its an experience that will leave your taste buds dancing. Enjoy your meal!

Update: visited for this years culinaria dinner. The tomato toast was unanimously our tables favorite dish of the night. Shishito was pretty good as well. The salad was ok. But that tomato toast! Great textures, flavor combo/balance, etc. The steak was, I guess, over seasoned or had a flavor imbalance, also the visual could have been better in my opinion. The desserts were pleasant but didnt have a wow factor like the toast. Old review: We visited for Culinarias restaurant week event and enjoyed the atmosphere and food entirely. The textures of the french toast and banana nut bread were perfectly balanced, the presentation was lovely, and I hope to go again to experience more of the menu.

If you are out of a bunch of items because you are keeping less food on hand due to an upcoming summer break, you should let people know that when they make the reservation or when they arrive at the restaurant...at the very least when we were ordering. We ordered 5 items from the menu and then got 2 visits from the waitress and one from the manager to tell us only 2 items were available. It is bad when the manager comes out and recommends the green salad. The server and manager were nice, food was just ok. Not a great first experience and no reason to go back with so many choices in the area.

This place is such a hidden gem and you could easily miss it. Its super cute and the aesthetics are on point. Lunch was great. The Cream Corn Fritters were tasty and the marmalade it comes with is something special. We also ordered the Shawarma Spiced Zucchini Gyro with the Green Leaf Salad and the Fried Chicken Sandwich with the Grilled Vegetables. Everything was absolutely delicious! And our server Kelsey was great and super helpful with questions. Ill definitely be back. Also I shared a video on how to find the entrance from the parking lot in the back. :)

Great food, but the recent poor service makes it difficult to enjoy your experience. We ve been to Meadow multiple times and always enjoyed our meal. The food is excellent, but the poor service we ve received on our last few visits once at HH and this morning for brunch make it difficult for us to want to return to this cute neighborhood spot. This morning for brunch, the restaurant was not incredibly busy, but we waited 15 min to have our order taken after watching who turned out to be our server amble around and past the table multiple times. He was not very friendly, made an error in our order, and it felt as though we were a burden throughout our visit. Having served many years in the industry myself, I give a lot of grace when it comes to a busy service, but this was not the case. We love the food and cocktails are delicious, but southern hospitality is in large part about the welcome this is missing recently from Meadow and I hope it returns before we stop.

Unfortunately we had a very unpleasant brunch experience. The waiter was MIA the majority of our visit, he forgot basic requests. We ordered the Peach French Toast and Fried Chicken sandwich. The French toast was burnt and I mean burnt! The fried chicken sandwich came with dry brioche bread and no sauce. The chicken was cooked pretty well but needed seasoning. After finally seeing out waiter he asked how our meal was and we showed him the burnt french toast. He then asked is we would like a box??? Ummm no?? We explained to him again ( which shouldn t have been needed) that the meal was inedible. The manager came by and said, I wish you would have told me sooner Ummm, first of all we couldn t find our waiter and how are we to know who you are when the staff was MIA. Stop putting blame on your patrons for your inadequacies. Needless to say we not be back.

The wait staff (she) is not accommodating at all. We walked in for lunch and they wouldn t allow us to grab a glass of wine at the bar while we wait because they were expecting to clean it up for a party which did not make any sense. They weren t even nice about it. So we left out of principle . That s why I give it a low rating. Customer service is everything in a business.

Beautiful area! You can sit outside or inside. Both locations are comfortable. The staff are all friendly and accommodating. The cinnamon rolls are house made and delicious! They can feed 2 if you re a pig like me, but possibly 4 if you re one of those dainty eaters. I had the strawberry French Toast and it was *chef s kiss* Fresh and scrumptious! My mom had the breakfast sandwich and enjoyed it. Plus there was a special on Bloody Mary s abc she said hers was made perfectly. Always check the specials! They do them on mimosas too on select days. I m excited to return and try other things.

My oysters were so good yesterday but yalls bartender needs to remove the stick. He is NOT friendly at all. A friend and I went yesterday for the $2 oysters on HH and have a couple drinks. Hes terribly unfriendly. He acts like people are doing him a disservice by ordering drinks. People that work in service, especially a bartender with a bar top, should be happy and friendly. Tell him to kick rocks or get some antidepressants.

Came here twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. Breakfast food itself was good, French omelet was cooked nicely, and the breakfast sandwich was very tasty. Although, the experience was thoroughly ruined by very disappointing coffee. Regarding lunch, everything looked delicious, but unfortunately the meatloaf and the cornbread were bland. The tomato sauce on the meatloaf was overly acidic and did not compliment the meatloaf, in my opinion. I personally prefer a little sweetness in my meatloaf sauces, so maybe it just wasnt for me. The texture of the cornbread was fine, although again the cornbread is bland and lacks any sweetness, not really tasting of anything. Candy bar was fine, but rich. Overall the lunch felt flat, and my favorite thing on the plate was the salad and the grilled vegetables which were lovely. Sadly, these yummy sides do not redeem the dish, and I left feeling I didnt get what I had paid for. Service and atmosphere of the restaurant are brilliant, although this may have compounded our disappointment with the food.

Ate here as a group of 7 with a reservation. It took 30 minutes to get 4 cups of drip coffee and then they were lukewarm. Food took over an hour after ordering and the wait staff didn t check in at all during that time. 20% gratuity was automatically added to the bill, which is probably standard for a larger group, however no one in our group was happy to tip that much for such slow service. The food was good, but a little overpriced and not worth it.

Discovered this adorable spot in The Alley which is also one of the restaurants currently featured for Culinary week. Rain prevented patio dining, but they graciously hosted our party of 12 for Sunday brunch. We enjoyed fantastic, generously portioned hot dishes. The bowl of cheesy grits was my favorite. First time being here last night. The best cocktail I ve had in a long time was the marTEAni. Incredibly unique and only $10 for something that obviously had a lot of work put into it. John our server was professional and kind and let my wife and I enjoy ourselves and seemed to know exactly when to provide service. Put a 3 for atmosphere as the white lighting in the ceiling felt a bit like a hospital and was highly reflective off my glasses. But the food, location, and service are 100% bringing us back.

Something about a locally owned, family oriented, ambient eatery that puts so much thought and care into curating and preparing their menu is touching and I wish there were more. All of the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the food is mouthwatering, and the cinnamon rolls on Sunday are heavenly in addition to great coffee. Inside or on the Patio, I never feel rushed, it is relaxed and it is a great place to go with a friend, lover or the whole family to enjoy a well rounded experience. Thank you Meadow family

Most of the staff was covered in tattoos and not very elegant clothes. I would next time pick another restaurant.

Great brunch. Very loud space. We were a 3 top that they seated in a small room with a 12 top. We couldnt converse with each other because it was too loud. Nothing has been done in the dining room to lessen the noice. Food was good. Presentation was lacking. For example, expect to get a plate purposely platedbut with no intent to make the food more visually appealing. Purpose and function period. So the food appears on the plate as if it was plated on a compartmentalized cafeteria plate. Meat here, veggie here, sauce here...plate by numbers. Food is good. Freshly and craftfully made. Good. Room to grow, but worthy of a repeat visit. Fully satisfied but still hoping that next visit knocks it out of the park. We had steak and eggs, correctly prepared. Tough meat though. State street biscuit sandwich. Too big to eat as served so to will have to disassemble the sandwich in order to eat it. And, the brisket and eggs with tortilla. The potatoes were delivered 5 mins later because they needed to be made. Hmm. Timing is everything in this industry. Brisket was tender and smoky although linear in flavor. The dish was made better with the salsa. Ok enough, but not ready for a reorder or encore performance. Solid wine selection. No mimosa option for brunch. Service was excellent. Belle was amazing. Great recommendations.

The food and wait staff here are some of the best we ve experienced in San Antonio since moving here from a larger city with a world-class food scene. The cabbage pancake was so creative and delicious! The cocktails, corn fritters, pizza and fried chicken were flawless as well. My only critique would be with the atmosphere. We were there for dinner and the abundance of overhead LED lights creates a very sterile, cold feeling that s not in keeping with the quality of the food and service. Some warmer overhead lighting and candles on the tables would make a huge difference.

We drove from an hour away for my birthday to try this place for the first time. The building itself is really cool. The restaurant was clean. The manager seemed nice It was a little hard to get our waiters attention but she was nice otherwise. However the food really missed the mark. The cornbread was pretty bland. The skin on the chicken underneath the fried part on the sandwich had an odd rubbery texture? I had to separate it from the actual meat bc I couldnt eat it otherwise. The fries had good flavor and crispness to them! Tasted a bit of the ribs and the candybar my brother got, they were really nice and honestly I wish I had gotten that instead. Then our double chocolate brownies came out and I couldnt eat more than one bite. It was like eating raw brownie batter. Tried to let the staff know but it was dismissed as being fudgey. Honestly Ive had probably more than my fair share of fudgey brownies over the years lol, but none were like eating batter. They wouldnt allow us to switch out to something else. So we ended up going elsewhere for a good dessert. I was hoping for a better experience tbh.

Low caliber, in almost every regard. To be honest I felt catfished by photos of dishes that looked interesting, but given a selection of meatloaf, ribs or chiken sandwiches... underwhelming flavor for the price. (Bland and uninspired) Most of the dishes you will come for are not available.

The food here is pretty good. The kitchen clearly knows what they are doing. That being said there just a handful of small details that need work across the restaurant that all add up. For example, not providing an extra spoon for the parfait is odd. I do not particularly wish to eat my parfait with a steak coated fork. Serving a bloody Mary in a rocks glass for no straw is odd. Its full of accompaniments and ice, in this type of glass with no straw you quite literally are forced to sip it. Some drinks are made to be sipped, this is not one of them. It makes a difference, please include a straw. In the same category of service the fruity pebbles drink is also off. Why would you serve a drink with stuff you are supposed to eat with ICE. Chill the liquid in a shaker and serve in a chilled or frozen glass! Other things such as the white lightening which does not match the rustic theme (use amber lights!!) Or the blender so loud it sounded like a tornado was joining us for dinner. Just the details that need work. The service is fast nice and amazing, the food is overall extremely tasty. They do a great job! Its just the details details details! Also in a really cute location, I love the alley.

We came in because of the good reviews, but left dissatisfied. We ordered the pork belly biscuit - the biscuit had areas where the dough was not cooked. We ordered burgers (medium), and they were overdone, and the fries were super greasy and soggy. The burguer had a house made mustard, which the flavors were not cohesive. We gave it another try, and the food again was not up to par - halibut was dry, and the steak was overcooked. Hopefully, the food on the regular menu gets better, I would recommend coming for brunch. Furthermore, the staff was great, but a female who I am assuming was the manager was super rude to her employees. They were going to take some sort of written evaluation, and before they got started, she was reprimanding them about no cheating and actually made them move to different areas. She sent someone to make sure the person that was outside taking the test does not cheat. The team looked akward as she was barking orders. The atmosphere turned tense for a few minutes until she left. We were taken aback...

I reserved a table online for Saturday, 4/1/23 for an outdoor lunch with friends. I was disappointed that we had to deal with three different hostesses upon our arrival, all of whom asked if we had reservations. When the reservation website asked for feedback, I expressed my frustration with the fact that we were kept waiting for 10 minutes upon our arrival. Almost immediately, the owner responded. She apologized profusely, didnt make any excuses, and explained the situation. She also expressed her appreciation for our patronage. The food was good--as usual--and it was a very enjoyable afternoon lunch. With customer service being almost nonexistent these days, the fact that this proprietor took the time to respond to me speaks volumes about their attitude toward the customers--and it was enough to prompt me to post a five-star review. Not only will we continue to patronize Meadow Neighborhood Eatery, but we will be telling everyone we know about the positive experience we had with this business owner. This is THE BEST PLACE for a nice dining experience, on the outdoor deck, under the oak trees, sipping a drink and enjoying the company of your friends and loved ones.

I had an awesome experience here. The whole staff was very welcoming and, Mr. John, our waiter, made good conversation with us and gave good descriptions of the different dishes. He was awesome! The food was cooked perfectly and the flavors blended in together very well. I wish I could recreate it myself, but I probably cant, haha so Ill be back for sure.

The place is super charming.. I unfortunately sat next to the kitchen which wasn t the problem at first until they kept slamming utensils and plates over and over again inside bins and baskets next to our table. I ordered the blackened fish. The meal wasn t pleasant by no means. The beans you used over powered the dish. You used a ham broth. It lack of taste, but it did not blend well at all with the fish and vegetables they used. The meal will be better suited without the beans since the beans are heavy and take over the meal. Instead of the ham broth use coconut milk with the fish and the vegetables with a bit of salt and pepper cooked in foil wrapped up in the oven. It will give it a more exotic taste and feel. If the customers want more heat add red pepper flakes. You miss the mark on this meal. Also, we dined with a friend that doesn t eat meat. You need to notify the patrons if there are meat byproducts in the food served. Your sweet corn balls has a side jelly of sorts that has meat byproduct. She was extremely disturbed that she ate meat. Please add to your menu to clearly state the sources that are used to make a dish. The succotash that was added on the side with the fried chicken was awful. I can clearly taste that you used the ends of the vegetable stems. It tasted like pure grass. You need to add more cider vinegar and sugar to get rid of that rancid taste.Pickle it longer.

This place has great food and the servers are good, but the hosting staff borders on snobby and they consistently say you need a reservation despite the restaurant being more than half empty. I ve had brunch here at least 6 times in the last few months and brought new folks in each time, but I am questioning returning given my most recent experience. The food is excellent: great flavors and quality ingredients (farm to table). The servers are great no complaints there. But the last few times I ve been there they have acted like you can t possibly sit down to eat without a reservation despite more than half the tables in the restaurant being visibly empty. One of the times they took my number and said we ll text you when we have something, then they texted like 15 min later, we came back, ate and I never saw the restaurant fill up. Today I called ahead to make a reservation/ask about wait time and when I asked how long the wait would be if I just walked in (after hearing the earliest reservation) the host very rudely said ma am, the earliest available is 11:45, repeating the earliest available reservation. I was not being pushy when I asked what the wait time would be, as that is a normal question to ask of a restaurant most restaurants have reservations but also obviously accept walk-ins and accommodate you as able (I ll note I was asking for a table for 2, not a large group). Like I said the food is good and the place is nice enough (although the shopping center it is in is quite dilapidated), but it is not nice enough to be reservation-only. I hope management wakes up to this fact because there are a lot of other good options in San Antonio and turning folks away is not good business.

Truly a unique experience indeed! Food here is not something you just eat and get full on. You experience food and taste food in the way it was meant to be. Tasting ingredients of local sourcing, big flavor, unique prep methods, scratch made. Everything was purely delicious on my dinner experience here. Nothing quite like it any place else I have been. I must try a dessert next time for sure. The Berkshire pork tenderloin is spectacular and the cabbage pancake is unlike anything I have had period. Decadent and maverick move by the chef that landed well with me. Very cool place for outdoor patio dining as well I will note. Server John is amazing, you must ask for him, he informs your about the dishes and their prep methods in ways you will appreciate as you dine on them.

Delicious lunch :) We came for restaurant week but decided to order off of the lunch menu instead. Our waiter was a little forward but ultimately guided us to unique and delicious dishes. The fried chicken was exceptional- I will come back again and again for that. The pork schnitzel was also very good. The okra was grilled and smoky, unexpected and yummy. The watermelon and pickled beet salad was well balanced in taste and textures. The pea hummus was also unique and delicious. In the average category- house salad, shishito peppers, grilled veggies Overall- will recommend and be back soon!

tried to come here last week and was told a 2hr wait on a sunday around 10:30, so i made reservations for the following weekend because i figured it must be amazing if there was such a long wait. first off, it was very loud in the room we were seated. hard to hear each other or even the waitress. we ordered 2 bloody mary s which we felt were pretty watery. then we ordered the camping doughnuts which were pretty good, i would recommend. the smothered hashbrowns were lacking in seasoning and were veryyyy greasy. they should have laid them on a napkin to drain the grease before plating. we did enjoy the chicken jalepeno biscuit. it was overall very okay at best, especially for the hype this place has.

Very nice ambience in this restaurant. We arrived around 10:45am on a Saturday and had a 35 min wait. I ordered a $16 hamburger that was very good but not worth $16. Our server was super fantastic and attentive. This is not a restaurant I would ever go out of my way to go to again. The main reasons are very limited menu, long wait time and good food but not great. Also, according to the other reviews I have read the dinner portions are small and expensive.

Unbelievably amazing. Weve dined at every date-worthy spot in San Antonio and I cannot believe we missed this hidden gem that outshines all of our favorite places (Rebelle, Supper, Silo to name a few) First, it is quaint and hidden from street view. Second, it is the ultimate farm to table kitchen with a vibe reminiscent of Gwendolyn that sadly closed. We ordered the chicken biscuit, the ricotta toast, the halibut and the radish salad. Every single things was so worthy of praise- exceeding expectations at every bite. Our service was fantastic (thank you John). Drinks were wonderful. We are restaurant eval specialists and consumers. This restaurant is initially presentable and inviting. Greeted upon entry, and seated according to appointment. Ok. Server was pleasant and professional. Actually, the server was of a quality beyond the restaurant itself. Appetizer was really good, but our main course was way below par. My wifes Pork Chop was Very Dry and absolutely tasteless. My N.Y. Strip was tasteless as well. Both main courses were also returned because they were way over cooked! Ambiance and atmosphere was pleasant. Beyond that......Meadow Neighboorhood Eatery and Bar doesnt have what it takes to merit a return. Score = 5.5 out of 10

Upon arriving at the restaurant at 10:15 with three groups seated in an empty restaurant 20 to 25 tables empty and ready for customers. We were told our part of TWO could sit at the bar because they were going to have a lot of groups coming in the next 30 to 45 minutes. The hostess stand was rude she talked down to me and my girlfriend. We are a mixed couple, which should not matter!!! Maybe I m wrong but the vibe I got was a very racial non welcoming one. Needless to say we left and went somewhere else!!! Come here if you want attitude and a unwelcoming Atmosphere.

Stopped by unplanned on a Saturday morning. I didnt have a reservation, but was seated within 5 minutes. I thought it would be a little longer since it was a cold morning and nobody was eating outside. Luckily, was seated quickly. Waiter quickly came over to take the drink and appetizer orders. Started off the the Banana-Pecan Bread and the Jalapeno Cheddar Biscuit. Both came out within 10 minutes and smelled great, especially the Banana-Pecan Bread. Both sound simple, but these both were unique and not what you typically receive. They were fresh, crispy outside, but warm and soft inside. They Honey Butter went well with the bread. Each was a small portion perfect for an appetizer. For the meals, ordered Apple-Brown Butter French Toast, SSCP Hashbrowns, Breakfast Sausage, and Homestead Gristmill Grits crunchy & cheesy. All the food came out together within 15 minutes. All were good, but my surprise favorite was the Grits made crunchy & cheesy style. The French Toast was equally as good with the caramelized apples with whipped cream. Enjoyed having breakfast in this small homestyle eatery with a simple, yet delicious menu. Good food and service

Absolutely love the location and the food! We were supposed to visit for lunch, but ended up stopping by for brunch because of the hours (they close early on Sunday). Even though the online reservation feature was not working, we were able to call ahead and reserve a table. The restaurant itself is in a complex called The Alley, and it s surrounded by shops and other restaurants, I think. The outside area is really Nice and expansive, with little couches and comfy pillows. None of the meal options looked enticing to me, so I made my own meal. I really like that option actually cause they have so many things to choose from. I ended up getting two eggs, the hash, and toast. All of it was delicious but I will say the hash was my favorite. Coffee was a little pricey at $4, but it tasted very rich and creamy. It must have been made with a French press so the higher cost makes sense.

During the pandemic, weve enjoyed the outdoor seating area particularly and last night, the outdoor heater kept us warm. We were in time to enjoy some happy hour drinks - I had the Madras which included vodka from the menu and my husband had the Old Fashioned. He had the apple salad and we shared the Rabbit Rillettes which was pate with mustard. That was delicious! For the entrees, I had the pork chop which was slightly on the dry side and my husband had the phenomenal roasted monkfish. I had a bite and it was cooked perfectly. We finished the meal with the apple terrine with butterscotch ice cream which was a great way to end the meal.
