Well, what can I say? It was a very impressive spot. I wasnt happy that they required a day pass or membership to use the park. However, I do see the appeal. The park portion is very nice and well-kept. I was a little thrown by not allowing unspayed or neutered dogs in the area. I felt that it wasnt very inclusive. I havent been down to the Pearl for some time and could see that you need to pay for parking ANYWHERE, Including the venue. So just be ready to spend quite a bit more than planned. Great place to visit if you ate in the area and you have a well-behaved dog.

The is an amazing place to take your dogs. I love Hops and Hounds. They have an amazing dog park that they provide for our fur babies water dishes, kiddie pools with water, fans, obstacles. You can also sit and relax while watching the game. Eat...drink and have a puppy blast. Highly recommend.

Next to the river walk. Lots of different types of seating available under the shade of trees. Good selection of taps that are mostly local craft with a few barley waters (ultra, lite, Lonestar, etc) for the non-beer drinkers. They had a selection of cocktails that looked interesting too. Food truck onsite with a dog park next to it (fee to get in though). Everyone looked to have well behaved dogs which is a plus. In the morning the coffee place has coffee and breakfast eats. We will be back for their happy hours.

Headed in from corpus christi, googled a kid/dog friendly place with adult beverages and food and found this spot, drinks are amazing and very kid/dog friendly, the down side is there is no food till the food truck feels like cooking, he told us it could be 5 minutes to 3 hours and that was at 3:00 pm and its currently 3:30 and still nothing even thou we were told 3:00 they would have food, its Friday yall!!!! Major disappointment if you just wanna drink with your dogs then thats all it seams to be

I agree with the other review saying this is not a family friendly place. It s also a waste of time and they don t do their research about the breeds. Most large breed dogs are not neutered or spayed until age two to allow for proper development internally and externally. This is standard. To host a large breed dog meet up while never stating the dog needs to be spayed or neutered was downright lazy as clearly no research was done about the breed. The rules for being in the enclosure are not clearly posted on social media or their website so my time was wasted driving all the way out there only to be turned away at the door. So unprofessional and plain lazy. I wanted to give this place a chance despite word of mouth not having good reviews but now know this is more about money than catering to dogs and their owners. Will NEVER come back.

My pup and I love Hops and Hounds! It s truly a place designed with dogs in mind. The food trucks offer amazing options delicious food and great service all around. The bar can get a bit slow when it s busy, but the friendliness and overall service more than make up for it. The atmosphere is one of the best things about Hops and Hounds. There s plenty of seating, water bowls for the pups, and lots of fans to keep everyone cool, which is a big plus. I especially appreciate the pools they provide for the dogs during the hot summer months such a thoughtful touch! The dog parks are also divided into two sections, which is great for keeping things safe and fun for dogs of different sizes. One of the things I love most is the regular breed-specific meet-up days. It s a great way for dogs to socialize with others of their kind, and for owners to connect with fellow dog lovers. The regulars at Hops and Hounds are amazing they re responsible, friendly, and always keep an eye on their dogs, which adds to the positive environment. The dog parks do require a membership whether daily, monthly, or yearly but it s honestly worth it. The cost tends to filter out those who might not take their dog s safety seriously, and as a result, the environment is much more enjoyable. Plus, there s always an attendant on duty in the dog park, which is a fantastic feature! A couple of suggestions: It would be great to have TVs or screens on the other side of the park so that people with dogs can also enjoy movies or other events. Additionally, it would be nice if drinks could be delivered to the dog park area. This way, people wouldn t have to constantly leash up their dogs to grab a drink or ask someone else to keep an eye on their pup. Overall, I highly recommend Hops and Hounds for anyone looking for a fun, safe, and welcoming place to spend time with their dog. We always look forward to our visits!

I would have loved this place except my intact service dog thats 8 years old wasnt welcome to play in their park because he was mutilated in adolescences. The park attendant was extremely rude about it as well. This is such an outdated science. Behavior is based on training not whether you spay or neuter your pets.

We really love it here, but had a recent bad experience. I ordered a frozen Margarita and didn t even finished it (and had nothing more). My boyfriend drank probably 30% of it and we both had the worse hang over in the world. We suspect they use very cheap or even adulterated tequila. It wasn t even cheap, so I really advice against ordering Margaritas here. Stick to the beers and the place is pretty cool. You will thank me later

This place is SO great! We found it by chance and went on a Friday evening to check it out. We were so impressed by the facilities and the owners that we went back Sunday AND Monday with our pup. There are two sides-one for leashed pups and the other larger side for off leash play. We love that the owner, Maggie, plays puppy referee, and helps keep everyone in check. There are lots of seats and umbrellas and misting fans for the humans, and the pups have water bowls and little pools. There are lots of drink options and different food trucks available. The courtyard is a beautiful, comfortable place to eat. Everything was thought-out and well executed! We are excited to go back for Mini-Monday!

Got the nachos; worst nachos I prob had in my whole life. Dennys has better nachos & if youre think Im being funny go try them yourself. Ive never had nachos without queso, the dry shredded cheese was comical, the jalapeños were old as they had no spice to them, the meat was overcooked. The whole dish was just dry with no flavor. I asked for queso and she said it would be an up charge of like $2. The cheese frfr came out of a jar; nothing special about it. I ate a little bit and left the rest. I hate wasting food, but I refused to put anymore of it in my body as the flies didnt even gravitate to it. They were all over the leftover pup cups if anything. The drinks were not that great and truly overpriced; horrible taste. The tables and benches outside were dirty. Had to wipe them to sit at them comfortably. I feel like they should wipe/spray down the outside tables at closing just how they do the inside. The only thing I liked about this place was the customer service; the people were cool and they didnt charge me for the queso. I also loved the mist fans. They felt great! More of them should be pointed towards the outdoor tables though. I wont be coming back. Just thought it was a cool idea as I was recommended to go cause I have dogs.

It seemed unreasonable after already paying for parking and my meal, so I declined. We came here for the first time on Saint pattys day and had so much fun! We tried the green beer and green margaritas they offered. We also tried the bbq truck they have there and it was really good. We came back the following weekend and brought our two pups and had a great time! Its $5 to get into the dog park for a day pass and thats what we went with. The attendant for the park was super nice and keeps water out for the dogs. Theres a small parking lot right next door that you can park at, you do have to pay to park though. If that one gets full, we drove to the end of the street and parked at the one back there. We will be back!

Been coming here for a month and really didn t have many issues. Unfortunately, the attendant inside the park isn t attentive to the dogs behavior or there simply needs to be more then one person in there helping monitor peoples dogs. I had to correct someone else s dog before the attendant did anything and she only did something because she heard what I said to the other dog owner and didn t like it. While I personally could have been more tactful I or any other owner shouldn t have to correct other people on their dogs when there are park personal who are supposed to monitor that sort of things. It s one of the reasons to pay for the park itself. Additionally, whether the park attendant believes the dog is playing or not that should not be a reason to neglect monitoring a dog that is clearly disturbing other people s dogs and aggravating them. Especially, when the dog nips at others and the owner also neglects it. Other than that the park has a nice ambience and the drinks are good with a good selection of food. The workers are also very nice not counting the above mentioned complaint.

This place is a cool spot for your dogs to hang out and get a drink. the food is fine, cans of beer taste just like anywhere else. the problem for us is with their policies about the dog park. i came here with my family expecting to grab everyone some food. let the dogs play ect. 1) you have to download their app and sign waivers. I think that s fine, smart actually. 2) the dog area is 18 and up. so i had to go in and watch the dogs which is what i planned on but then my kids weren t allowed in so i had to go in to let them play and my 10 year old who was super excited to play with all the dogs had to wait outside. this to me seems unreasonable and defeats the purpose of even coming here. Off leash area is $5/day or $25/month and kept much nicer than a public dog park. There are two sections (smaller dog and bigger dog). Helpful employees, fairly priced delicious food and drinks, bathrooms good, really nice area and ambience. My wife and I (and our dog Pickle) will be regulars here for sure! We love this place and so do our dogs. Cheap drinks (especially for riverwalk bar), amazing food trucks, CLEAN dog park, and well spread out seating. The membership or daily rate for the dog park is worth it for people who care about their pets and know anything about how people used to abandon dogs at the last location. Also, as someone with a free spirited dog who loves to sprint and smell everything, not letting children into the dog park is such a plus and allows me to relax. Kids ARE allowed and welcomed outside the park part (which is huge btw), so everyone saying it isn t kid friendly is only referring to inside the park part.

A lot of people complaining this isn t kid friendly but hey it s a DOG PARK BAR. Having kids running around the dog park area just feels like more liability. Oh and yeah there are memberships or daily passes but this helps ensure pets are up to date on their shots and helps keep people from abandoning dogs here. Love the concept Hops & Hounds brings to the downtown area. The place is clean, new and has a variety of drinks to offer while you hangout with your pup. They have food trucks if youre hungry. For those complaining about having to pay for the dog park, go to the city park...go hang out with the crackheads and their pitbulls while you avoid the trash and drug paraphernalia left on the ground. If you want a clean place for your pup with clean restrooms for you to use, then I dont see a big deal paying for those utilities. For those saying its not family friendly? Youre just pissed you cant leave your kid to baby sit YOUR dog while you go get wasted at the bar. I would not leave a child alone at a dog park, HELLO!

If you like dogs, this is the spot. Bring your dog. Make new dog friends. Make friends with other dog parents. There is even a section on the menu for your dog. The mostly outdoor seating allows you to enjoy nice days but there is indoor seating as well in case it gets chilly or rainy. The bartender is attentive and skilled (even though they have a relatively limited drink menu). The food is definitely an opportunity for improvement. The taste was ok but nothing really stood out. The burgers were obviously frozen at one point. As was the chicken. The queso was thin and almost watery. The fries were tasty. We had a special request for the server and while it was not something they have on the menu, she went out of her way to make it happen. Adding freshly made burgers and other items would really make this one of the best places in town.

1st time here and disappointed with the establishment. From no fish , to no fries, and no cheese. The menu was restricted because of this. Rude bartenders that act like theyre doing you a favor. Poor customer service. The best part was I drove 30 mins to come bring my dog . Great ambience for the dogs but not for the people . What a shame. #Rico4president2028

***BEST DOGGIE PARK EVAH!*** My man is STILL drooling over the hot red head behind the bar. Not for the non-self assured, I tell you what. They must send their staff to a plastic surgeon or something. Food was great and the owner was SUPER fun and inviting when he visited the table. Mikey had the beef and chicken...devoured it... We had the Margarita Flight! Oh. Yes.

The food here is mediocre and the service was very poor. We ordered a grilled chicken salad and had to argue with them that our chicken was fried and the salad was not correct. Finally they agreed but wow. Then when I tried to close my tab at the outside window, both bartenders went to help other customers who skipped the line by going inside. 3 times the bartender turned around and walked off to help customers who cut in line. I don t know what they want tips for. Really bad service here except for the people cleaning the tables. They did a great job and were way more friendly than people taking orders. The margarita flight was not very good and tasted way too sweet. My cheeseburger was dry and bland, salad was okay and had way too many fries, as they come as a side with everything we ordered. Somehow we had four sides of fries which was a bit much. Overall we like the atmosphere here but we re disappointed in the food and service. I would not recommend this place to family or friends. Also bring some ear plugs because the dogs will bark at random very loudly. Watch your children closely as dog owners can t always control their dogs. Lots of children running around here. Also the music here is great. Parking: Lots of parking but dirt lot and narrow roadways Kid-friendliness: Plenty of place for kids to run and play and pet dogs

I do love the Hops and Hounds. You can bring your dog and listen to live music or do trivia on some nights. The vibe is cool and casual, the customers are usually great. Food is above average for junk food like burgers. Bar staff is very attentive but it sometimes take a long time to get a drink from outside.

Stopped by for a relaxing, outdoor lunch on a Saturday. It was early, so it wasnt too crowded. There were plenty of open tables in on the covered patio as well as the shaded tables. As far as the dogs, theres separate areas for small and large dogs. There were a few misbehaved dogs, but most were well-behaved. There was live music that switched from singing with a guitar to a DJ later on int the afternoon. Its walk-up service where you order all your drinks and food at the bar, then they bring it out to you. There were a lot of food options from nachos, burgers, wings, salads, etc... For the drinks, had a nice selection from beer, cocktails, seasonal drinks, etc... Of course, they even have a pet friendly menu from unseasoned meats to whipped cream. Ordered the nachos, big dog burger, shrimp salad, dog whipped cream, and a few cocktails. Drinks came out within 5 minutes and all the food within 10 minutes. Wasnt expecting much from the food, but it was surprisingly good. Cocktails were good with a nice balance of alcohol with sweetness, so tried a few different ones. Areas were very clean and everyone did a good job of cleaning up after their pets. There were plenty of pet bags and water igloos throughout the outside area. Inside the dog play areas, theres chairs and table for owners to sit in the shade with their dogs. For safety reasons, food is not allowed in the play areas, but you an bring your drinks. Overall, nice place to have some food and drinks outside. Although though its pet friendly, there were a lot of people who came just to enjoy the atmosphere.

I like this place, great atmosphere and good drinks. This place is also very convenient to my house, I like it as a bar. I do not like it as a restaurant. We found hair on our food once ( assuming dog hair ) and once our food appeared to be old. And also the front door says absolutely no dogs inside we have seen dogs inside multiple times. We also see the wait staff petting the dogs, I cant confirm they washed their hands or not!!!

Ive visited severalal times, but it seems like the atmosphere has gotten worse over time. It started with blasting music at a dog friendly place.. Since dogs have more sensitive hearing, that doesnt seem too pet friendly. The final straw was trying to charge a cover to grab some dinner with my dogs and kids. Doubt well ever be back.

This was our third visit to Hops & Hounds, and its as fun as ever for our hound. Its located on Jones-Maltsburger north of McAlister Park and next door to a barbecue place. The main thing the patrons have in common is that we love our dogs, and on a Saturday night, it was tricky to find a parking place. Additionally, a no-kill animal shelter was available with a number of pups for adoption. There are two sections reserved for customers to bring their small and large hounds to play and recreate on exercise platforms. Also, there is a good view of a golf driving range nearby. In the outdoor dining area, there are plenty of picnic tables, and dogs are welcome, too. Its easy to secure a leash to the table if needed. Those green plastic bags one sees in parks are available if your companion needs it, but in our three visits, Ive never noticed a need. And they can be used for dogs, too! The menu is plentiful and not un- usually expensive. But nothing is ordinary, and the burgers can compete with any well-known burger restaurant in town. Chicken wings, including boneless, are served with tater tots to order. There are filling special salads as well. Hops & Hounds is known for the hops, but soft drinks with free refills are available as well. Ive included a pic of the menu. Of course, we always eat outdoors with our hairy beast, but indoor dining is also available. BTW, all, and I mean all, of the restaurant staff were kind and helpful. Also, as we were leaving, a gentleman with a 12-string guitar was playing and quite good. Even, if you dont bring a puppy, you probably will enjoy the atmosphere. Vegetarian options: There were salads available along with some other vegan products. Parking: On my last visit on a Sunday afternoon, I could not find a single marked space; I parked at an angle at the edge of the parking lot. Kid-friendliness: Perfect for kids if they are familiar with dogs as pets. Wheelchair accessibility: I didnt see many spaces, but I believe I saw two at the main entrance. My wife is eligible for one, but all were being used. Doors to the restaurant area were wide enough, but Im not sure about accessibility to the indoor restaurant from the parking lot.
