I ve never a steak that was so incredibly bad. It was absolutely inedible. I ordered a rare 9oz filet and it was a sirloin cooked medium well. The char had a terrible flavor. My daughter ordered the same, she did get a filet and the cook was correct the taste was bad. Another daughter got a burger, they forgot the avocado, it tasted bad and it was a plain cheeseburger no lettuce, tomato onion, nothing. Will never eat here again.

The managers are on point. The wait staff is trained well and attentive. The food was done perfectly and when my steak needed a little more cooking they took care of it. I feel like a lot of the high dollar steak places drop the ball on old school service because there are not many choices and obvious money in the area. I m glad the Saltgrass has stuck to their original service for 20+ years. I know because I started out there as a teen and it s good to see them demonstrating what all restaurants should

I normally dont leave bad reviews because everyone has off days but this was honestly a horrible visit. Several items came out wrong. Got double charged on our appetizer (didnt catch that until after we left). Food wasnt hot. Steak wasnt cooked right. Really upsetting experience especially after the amount of money we spent here.

This is the worst salt grass I have ever been to. It s a $50 meal with an Applebees experience. My appetizer came out after my meal. My steak was luke warm. It s obvious that this place isn t well managed. I sat at the bar and the bartenders were friendly. They were friendly but service wasn t great. The managers were too busy joking with staff and being friends than they were keeping things going.

We had started going to the Saltgrass in Midland because of the service but we gave the Odessa one another shot recently. Elizabeth was our waitress and did an exquisite job. She made meal suggestions when we asked about menu items, our drinks were always full, and she even brought extra napkins for our child. She was quick but didn t bother too much. She was friendly and professional. We didn t have to wait for silverware And everything was clean. She say is at a clean booth. She was knowledgeable about the menu. We will definitely return.

I arrived at approximately 4 PM and was seated in 10 minutes or so I wasnt at my booth more than probably a minute when I was asked what I would like to drink they had it to me very fast got my appetizer order and brought me a salad very fast and then took my order for the main course. It was served in almost perfect timing. My waitress was named Alice and she had a trainee with her named Sean and I have to say it was one of the best experiences Ive had in the Permian basin and a very long time everything was good and cook exactly like I ordered. I will definitely be back here.

I was seated right away. But, then I had to remind the waitress, when she finally arrived, on the food options and what came with the main course and she didnt even offer any sides or bread. I had to remind her. I know she is new, but come on. She had no clue and though this was my first time there, I knew the menu better than she did. And, for the life of me, I didnt know there were multiple degrees of done choices with ribs, like there is with steak, so I dont know what she was talking about. Do they serve rare ribs? I was promised my drink at least five times before it arrived - after about 40 plus minutes. No sign of the salad, my meal or the waitress, who had stopped by occasionally to tell me what might happen in the future in regards to my order. Luckily, I was entertained by the screaming and crying kids nearby. I finally gave up and left after about an hour. Obviously, this is a BIG management and training issue. But, being a big chain, you can tell they dont give a damn...and it shows.

Awesome service by a sweet beautiful lady that was kind and friendly and hospitable. The food was elementary cafeteria quality. Overcooked my Pittsburg style rare steak and had absolutely no seasoning at all. Not one grain of salt on the entire overcooked fillet. Im particular when it ces to steak anyhow but this tasted and looked as if the kitchen staff isnt paid enough and are unhappy. Management is probably the culprit but regardless I will never order another overpriced food item from this establishment. Do yourself a favor and go to Texas roadhouse. No matter where or when they have never disappointed. Shame on salt grass management. Get your chefs to know how to prepare a steak.!!!

I m a foodie and been to every steak house around here, but I wouldn t not be going back. The hostess was rude I went in told my name and she went to see if my food was ready. She Comes back and talk to her co worker for a good 10 minutes about seating. I asked again when will my food be ready. She looks at me and ask what was your name again. I told her my name and she saids oh we don t have any food order under that name. Tells me it could be at another location. So I go get my phone and confirm the address with the hostess. She leaves again to the back I have to wait another 10 minutes. She wobbles back and says it will be ready shortly. I asked to speak to a manager, another 20 minutes pass and manager comes out with my order. I told him what happened and just apologized. Where should I begin. We all have an off day on occasion. Today everyone at this restaurant had a bad day at the same time. Out party had five people. We were seated at 1:45 on a Tuesday, told of the specials given menus and then we waited. And waited. And waited for someone to even take our drink order. In fact one member of our party ended up going to find someone to take our order. The server was not in a good mood and I dont remember her smiling one time. We were a nuisance to her day for sure. Mind you nobody in our party was rude in any way at all. Not even asking for an over the top experience but maybe just a hello or simple how are you? Nothing. No interaction or attempt to connect to anyone at our table. Didnt even pick up all the menus after we ordered. No bread was brought or even offered. Two of our meals were set on the unbussed table behind us that was vacated by previous customers. Nothing there but plates of uneaten food and the server left the plates on that table and walked away. She left. We picked up the plates and brought them to our table and had a good laugh. At this point all you could do was laugh at the whole experience. Ive been here several times before and all were great experiences. This was just not a good one. At all. In conclusion, if you need a place to go for a business lunch at a presumably slow time of the day, you may want to re think going here.

I have been a regular here for about 6 months now. Lately they have been falling off. To begin with the service was 5 stars the food was 5 stars. There are times we come 2-3 times a week. Usually pay around $200 for a family of 4 leave an extra $50-$100 tip. Today I set a reservation for 4:00pm. Upon arrival I was told they were behind so it would be 20 minutes. I just left I had reservations for a specific reason. I will be back in the next few weeks but for about 2 months now service had got worse and food has came out decent. Hopefully I can get back into Saltgrass as it is my favorite steak house in Odessa. This review will possibly change within the next few months hopefully for the better.

There was no one at the front when we entered, shortly after 2/2:30... had to do some struggling to get my husbands wheel chair in the double front doors... we waited a good 10 minutes before anyone even showed up... then, we were told to just pick a seat... My husbands chicken fried steak was so tough & gristled that he could hardly eat it. He took 3/4 home thinking heating it up might help, but ended up throwing it away. I did mention it to the waitress, she offered to take it back & having them cook it a bit longer to try to make it more tender, but he refused - he is not one to complain about his meal. My Chicken Fried Chicken was good. Would have been much better with warm, instead of cold gravy. This was our first & last trip there. For $52, the food should have been much better.

They had a great bar menu which is something me and my husband look for. I like cosmopolitan and some restaurants dont know how to makes those. Saltgrass has a white cosmopolitan which was great! Husband order the Manhattan which is another drink most cant make. Very happy with that. Appetizer we order that ranger rangers I believe the shrimp jalapeños omg delicious. Katie our server was excellent I had a few questions about some thing on the menu she was so helpful on finding out for me. The was something called chimichurri she brought a sample of it so I could taste it which was a seasoned parsley oil type thing. One of the managers came by took my salad plate help clear the table which Im super big about. Another server stopped by noticed my husband empty glass asked if he wanted another but Katie had one on the way already . When food came it was all absolutely delicious Salmon Oscar was what I got with the smoked Mac which was super delicious nice twist on a classic side. Husband got the red fish he loved it. Everyone was so nice and attentive one of the girl brought my husband his drink I asked where the restroom was she said you can follow me. We will definitely be here again!

The only thing I liked was my appetizer. Which was the queso dip and chips? But that is not where I wanted to go to eat that evening. They did not have the baked potato soup that night, which was upsetting and and his steak, had a lot of fat on it, and he got a Porterhouse steak and honestly spent entirely too much money! If I go back there, the only thing I will eat is the appetizers or the baked potato soup! But they were out of it! He also tipped way too much. Our total was over $100 because of the drinks, porterhouseand $22 tip. Plus the extra $22 that he gave the waitress she did not deserve. Our food order was way too much for the quality of the food. But theyre just like every other restaurant. They never make it worth your money on alcoholbeverages. Youre better off going home and making the drinks yourself.

Had a large party and plans were made in advance. Yall had enough notice that we shouldve had a better server or she needed help... As much as we paid, we shouldve had a lot better service. She for sure didnt deserve the gratuity that she got. It was over $200. Bad part is... If she had done a better job, it prob wouldve been$300.. Waited on drinks, some of the food was cold. A lot of it was missing all together. Some of the sides never even made it to the table... Yall need to step it up for sure.

The food was really good. Weve been twice already and it was good both times. We went on an early Sunday afternoon and we got a quiet booth to ourselves as they were spacing people far apart so I thought that was nice, kind of like a private dining experience. The waiter was new and was a little not to our liking, but hey, we all have to learn sometime right? Well give her the benefit of a doubt because overall it wasnt bad.

My recent visit to Saltgrass restaurant in Odessa, TX, left a bitter taste in my mouth, figuratively and almost literally. Despite making early reservations for a party of 8, our dining experience began sourly. Upon arrival, we were met with an unexpected and frustrating surprise - our reserved table wasnt ready. Instead of accommodating us in a clean and welcoming area, the staff attempted to seat us in a neglected and unsanitary part of the back of the restaurant. The state of the surroundings was alarming, with dirt and grime clearly visible, making us question the overall hygiene standards. Hoping for a resolution, we approached the restaurant manager to express our concerns. However, his response was shockingly dismissive. Rather than addressing our valid complaints, he casually suggested lowering the air conditioning, as if adjusting the temperature could magically transform the unappealing dining conditions. This lack of professionalism and disregard for customer satisfaction was deeply disappointing. Throughout the meal, the service continued to disappoint, with the waitstaff displaying a lack of enthusiasm and attentiveness that one would expect from a reputable establishment. As for the food, it failed to compensate for the overall disappointment. The steaks, supposedly the restaurants specialty, were overcooked and lacked the flavorful appeal we had anticipated. The sides were equally uninspiring, making us question the effort put into their preparation. In conclusion, my experience at Saltgrass restaurant in Odessa, TX was marred by poor service, an unresponsive manager, and subpar dining conditions. I would strongly advise potential diners to explore other dining options in the area, as there are undoubtedly better choices available that can provide a more enjoyable and satisfying restaurant experience.
