We booked this venue for our wedding day, but things didn t go as expected due to the owner s neglect. She failed to warn us that the air conditioning could fail, she didn t check on the maintenance of her tables or chairs, and didn t double check to see how well her cleaners work would be. There were ants on the poker table in the groom s suit, ants eventually got into our wedding favors, and a guest who was holding his infant daughter fell through a chair. When we went to speak with the owner about our concerns, she was dismissive of our feelings and kept giving excuses as to why the venue was in the state it is in.

Recently attended a wedding here. The ONLY good thing is the aesthetic, if youre into the industrial look? Air conditioning BARELY works! Curtains MIGHT help keep some heat out?! Also, having ants ruin the treats everyone was gifted by the bride & groom was pretty terrible! The worst part by far were the SUPER flimsy chairs. While holding my sleeping 9 month old daughter I was dropped flat on my back with no warning whatsoever from the chair breaking underneath me! Value is definitely not worth the cost! Will NOT be recommending!

I ve used Sophia s place multiple times now for functions and every experience has been perfect! We were able to get in early to set up and the event was wonderful thanks to Sophia s place!!The owner is so accommodating and easy to work with, the venue is beautiful and has all the tables and chairs!! The brides suite is precious. I highly recommend!!!

Went to a fund raiser here. Everything was beautiful. Tables and chairs were perfect. Air conditioning, with over 100 people here, kept up. Most importantly, bathrooms were exceptionally clean. I would absolutely recommend this venue to all my friends.

We had our 30th class reunion at Sophias Place and it was the perfect space and so charming! The separate kitchen area was perfect and a great layout for serving so it wasnt in the main space. Having the large covered patio easily accessible and not far from the main gathering room was so nice too and people could still hear the music. Its even large enough to dance outside. I love the old world charm of the worn brick and iron chandeliers too, which lessened the need for a lot of decor! Amber was so easy to work with and made it seamless. Definitely recommend Sophias Place!

Attended a charity event there last evening. The facility is beautiful. Everything was clean and well maintained and the AC was a great relief from the triple digit temps outside. Id definitely recommend this facility to host any event.

My gratitude for the owner of Sophia s Place is hard to put into words. The venue is absolutely beautiful and has a sweet spirit inside that money cant buy. She has put her heart and soul into this place, and donated the entire place for the weekend to have a fundraiser for my non-profit. And this is the second year in a row!! The windows, the brick walls, the floors ((can t wait for dancing tonight!)) it s all perfect.

Attended a wedding here. If Im ever invited to attend anything and its at this venue I will find a reason not to go. There was ants all in the party favors. The chair my husband was sitting in as he was holding our sleeping baby straight up gave out and broke dropping them to the floor. Is it pretty? Yes. But pretty doesnt excuse it being hot af, having ants in my treats and definitely in no way excuses my husband having a sore back due to the poor quality of her chairs. When I asked the host what was said about the chair that broke ,her response was well atleast they werent seriously injured. No apology. To me that is just straight disrespectful and lacks professionalism. So in my opinion. Take your money somewhere else unless ants and broken chairs is part of your theme.

Beautiful venue but it put a damper on our wedding day as the AC couldn t keep the venue cool, ants got into our favors and ruined the majority of them, the chairs heavily sagged when guests sat in them, and one broke while a guest holding his baby was sitting in it. While setting up we found multiple broken chairs, several of the tables had their legs duct taped back on to keep them in place, and we had to clean the majority of chairs and tables as they were covered in dirt and spider webs. The owner claimed she didn t know bc her cleaning crew didn t mention this to her, why she doesn t check on her own belongings is beyond me. When we spoke to the owner about our experience after our wedding she didn t give a real apology, repeatedly gave excuses on how these issues were beyond her control, and said we shouldn t let a few ants and a broken chair ruin our wedding day; and that the guests seemed to have fun. I reminded her it wasn t the guests wedding day. She initially offered to pay us back for the cost of the favors, but when I reminded her of the other issues, she finally relented and gave us a partial refund and banned us from booking here again. She took no accountability for the condition of her venue, citing she s a widow and a mother who has 3 jobs (all 3 are done in the same building-storage rental, cutting hair, and renting this venue.)

I have used this space countless times for photo sessions over the past few years and always had a great experience! Amber is super sweet and helpful and the space is perfect for natural lit portraits, especially with this crazy West Texas weather.

This venue is beautiful for a rustic wedding. It has the most spectacular antique chandeliers giving this place a timeless. Whether you want an indoor or semi outdoor wedding or party this is your place. Sophias place is a hidden little gem.

We are thinking of having a wedding here for our niece. This place is clean and beautiful inside. Its set back from the street. So cuts down on outside noise. Has a bride room and groom room as well as a kitchen for the caterers. The Price is Right. Empty canvas for your decor and they provide table and chairs.. they do table linens for a small fee, that is really a plus. Oh and there are two different wedding arches to choose from. Both pretty. Amber is the sweetest - its definitely on the list for the top three wedding venues in Lubbock, Texas to consider.

Sophia s place is beautiful. The owner, Amber, was amazing! The kitchen was perfectly tucked away to be used and noisy, but not disturbing to the guests or seen from the great room. The kitchen had functioning oven, which helped a lot- we didn t have to bring all the crockpots and Dutch ovens! The tables and chairs were ample and the multiple entrances helped for service entrance and guest entrance. Just stunning. We really didn t even need many decorations- the ambiance of Sophia s Place was perfect.

I love this venue. The natural light in the main area is incredible, but the bridal and groom suites are extremely dark. I suggest you or your photographer bring more lighting for those 2 rooms.

If you are looking for easy, affordable AND beautiful, then Sophias Place is for you! Amber the owner is one of the sweetest and most genuine people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and working with. She was more then accommodating for my wedding and I cannot express how grateful I am for finding this beautiful venue. I had the best day of my life in that building and I hope this review helps another bride find her dream wedding spot! 10/10!
