Was a little worried because we didnt get there until 8pm on a Saturday when they close at 9pm. Had the 2 meat plate and it was amazing. The armadillo eggs are also really good, even reheated the next day. Staff was very courteous and friendly. The bar set up seemed a bit dis organized but the cocktails were great. Will definitely be back.

Recommended by a coworker. My first time, took my folks there from out of town. Best food I have had in a very long time, not just BBQ, best food ever. Plus, my mom was cold she went up to the counter and asked for coffee, unfortunately they did not have any. She came back to our table, 5 minutes later a employee came and gave her a hot cup of coffee. Super customer service, excellent!! Will recommend to anyone that asks. Great people

I want this place to succeed. The same owner owns Horizon 76. We really like Horizon and thought we try this one today. The pork ribs: Amazing. Bacon burned ends: Pretty good. I would have those again. Briskets: I like them more juicy. Too dry and too much pepper for my taste and could use some more flavor. For me brisket is the main dish and was a bit disappointed. I would give it another try, but I hope the briskets will be better otherwise I would not come back.

Thank You Chef Dwight! Boy, did you save the day. My mothers 82nd birthday party was a success. Thanks to this amazing man. There was a little mishap and I needed some dinner to feed a small crowd. Im a fan of his food. So, Outpost & Horizon 76 was the first place I thought of. I cant tell you how much I appreciate this man. Not to mention his food is absolutely AMAZING! He definitely is a Pitmaster. Heavy on the Master! He took such good care to make sure everything I got was scrumptious! You wouldnt believe how reasonable it was. Especially for how much food I received. I felt like a V.I.P. High quality meat is the icing on the cake! Everyone raved about the homemade bread and green beans. Personally the Mac and cheese and the Beans are truly the best Ive ever had! Need I say, I still highly recommend this place. Big Hugs and thanks from my whole family, Chef Dwight you are the BOMB!

I have to bump the service down because they didn t indicate I had a second bag, but they quickly refunded when I made it home and realized this so I won t knock them too hard. Furthermore the food is excellent. We had brisket and pulled pork and both were great but the pulled pork especially was moist and full of flavor. We saw the fat congealing in the container which tells me they didn t remove it before cooking. Whatever other seasoning they used was some of the best I ve tasted. If I find myself down in Keller again I ll eat there again. That s how good the food is. You can be annoyed the order was messed up but then you taste it and it s superb. Also, it s nice to pull into a parking lot and see more spaces open than you would ever need. I got there around dinner time and the lot despite having about forty cars in it had plenty of room. The location is perfect and although off of a main road I was able to get in and out easily during late rush hour.

We went here for brunch and were very, very disappointed with the food. We ordered the lumberjack tray and biscuits and gravy with ham and a side of scrambled eggs. We thought the biscuits would be two big biscuits, but we were wrong. The biscuits were two small biscuits with not much gravy on them, and they were dry. We didn t get the ham but received chopped meat instead. The wait for the food was long, so we didn t want to send it back. The chopped meat was clearly old and dry. The potatoes tasted rubbery and had no flavor. The lumberjack tray didn t come out until almost 30 minutes later. The only good thing about it was the ham and scrambled eggs that came with it. We didn t finish our meal. I would not recommend this place for brunch maybe for lunch or dinner. Its overpriced for what you get.

Ive been wanting to visit and try the barbecue since they opened about a year ago, and I finally got to stop by for take-out for my family on the way home yesterday. The restaurant can be a little hard to see when youre heading North on HWY377, so Id suggest slowing down a little before Google Maps says to turn; else you may miss it our get run over by the cars behind you ;>) Parking is pretty good and I got a spot and went inside easily to place my order. I ordered a brisket plate and two two-meat plates with jalapeno sausage and brisket; all three plates had sides of pintos and potato salad. I waiting at the bar after placing my order and getting my digital hockey puck so they can buzz you when your order is ready. The bar is nice and central to the order counter, so I got a Markers Mark Cask Reserve and had pleasant small-talk with the bartender until my order was ready. The bartender went and got my order for me and brought it over to my spot at the bar (very nice); so I finished my drink and checked the order before heading out. Be advised that if you order a few meals they may place all the meats (wrapped in foil) inside a single large Styrofoam container, and all the sides in a couple medium-sized Styrofoam bowls. At first this was kind of confusing, and looked like I only got one entree, but the staff at the order counter took time to inspect it with me and explained that the meats and sides were packed that way to reduce packaging and make it easier to carry home. Fair enough, but when I got home and started portioning everything out it did seem a little on the skimpy side on the brisket portions. Also; the guy running the counter did not ask how I wanted the brisket ...In Texas its customary to ask if you want it wet (fatty) or dry (lean). the brisket was packed in two foils; one with a decent sized wet slice and the other with some rather small dry slices. The third foil was the two half-orders of jalapeno sausage, but the portions were pretty small once evenly divided. All three servings of sides (potato salad and beans) were in two 8-ounce bowls, and provided some reasonable portions once split up three ways. The dry brisket pieces were tender and had a little bark, but were a little on the bland side... The large wet piece was super tender with no bark and also a little light on flavor, but still good. The pintos had little pieces of white onion but no meats in them, and were reasonable tasty with good texture. The potato salad was mustard-based and had a good flavor and texture; though a wee bit on the mushy side for a country recipe. All-in-all a good meal; my family said they still like Angelos in Ft. Worth and Texas Pit BBQ in Saginaw better. Parking: Decent parking

I have eaten here a few times, and the BBQ is ok. The brisket was average, and nothing stood out about the taste. The pork belly brunt ends were better, but there were some pieces that were mostly fat. The sausage was good, but nothing stood out about the taste. the mac and cheese were overcooked, so the noodles were really soft. Homemade fries tasted burnt and not crispy. This BBQ place should have been open until 10 pm on Thrusday, Friday, and Saturday. That is not the case when I showed up on Thursday. The doors on both sides were locked at 9:30 pm. Make sure you call before wasting your time driving to the restaurant.

Upon entering, I was greeted by smiling faces and an energetic staff, setting a wonderful tone for my visit. I ordered the two-meat plate, and both the burnt ends and ribs were outstanding. The burnt ends were exquisite, and the ribs, while tender and spongy, maintained a delightful crisp exterior. Each item was perfectly smoked, enhancing the flavors beautifully. The lean side of the brisket appeared tough at first glance, but it melted in my mouth with the first bite. This place has won me over, and I plan to return countless times, sharing my positive experience with friends and family. The one meat plate would have been enough for me as I eat a little on the lighter side! But either way no regrets. Outpost BBQ offers some of the finest quality barbecue Ive encountered, all at a fantastic price. Their superior product truly aligns with reasonable pricing, making it an unbeatable choice for BBQ lovers.

TL;DR: > EXCELLENT We went on Saturday, March 23rd kind of late in the evening (around 7 ish?). The guy in the black cowboy hat came and told us a couple of things they were out of (elote ) but we adjusted to something else as a side. This is only the 2nd time we have been here, but we had forgotten HOW GREAT THEIR FOOD IS! Hubby and I got a chopped brisket sandwich and an extra bun and split it - he couldn t even finish his (1/2 of the meat!) sandwich! We got onion rings as a side; wonderful with light batter and great taste. I got one rib and the meat literally fell off the bone . The service was amazing even though we waited a few minutes to order so they could catch up on sending out food orders. The black cowboy hat guy came around to all the tables to check on everyone and make sure the food was to our satisfaction. We won t forget how good Outpost is and I LOVE that it s so close. Well done!!!

First time eating here. We got there around 5:30 so we were able to get a table easily and didnt have to wait in line long to order. Food took a while to be ready but there was 9 of us in our party so I chalk it up to that. Im sure if your party is smaller theyll have it out fairly quick. I had a brisket sandwich with onion rings which was very good (very moist not dry at all) and my husband had the brisket taco and an armadillo egg. The armadillo egg is huge! Bigger than what I was expecting also very good. For dessert we had the fried cherry pie, which was my favorite thing by far. The crust was crispy and light, not greasy at all. While we were eating someone came to check up on us and stopped by every table to check on the guess which I appreciate. A very good experience and good food.

The customer service and atmosphere was great and the place was very clean. I felt like the atmosphere was perfect for a bbq place in TX but the food experience was like a bbq restaurant would be outside of TX. We tried the turkey and brisket and although it was very tender, the smoke was not there. I think it is very hard to compete with other non chain bbq places in the area because the bar has been set so high. I also think if they would switch to an offset wood burning smoker this place that has so much potential and would be very successful.

Went on a Saturday and the place was empty .. that should have been my first clue. Maybe I went in with too high of an expectation, but the brisket was lackluster and 80% fat. The potato salad, onion rings, and okra were bland. The armadillo egg was cold and dry. The sausage was the only saving grace, but not by much. If youre leaving a 5 star review, you must not know much about BBQ. Plus, the pirate bartender (no judgement on his being a pirate, just wanted to be specific) used the bathroom and did not wash his hands. Yo, ho, ho, and a bottle of GROSS. Guess this is a good place to eat if you wanted to build your immunity up? But not if youre looking for more than a crappier version of a Dickies.

Outpost 36 used to have a bunch of really good food. The last several times over 4 months has gone down hill. 12 on the Sunday before memorial day they literally ran out of every meat except sausage and pulled pork. The staff were very vocal about the owner messing up and not ordering enough food. If you like pulled pork your in luck. The brisket is good but often not any on hand same as the dino ribs. The BBQ went from I need no sauce to I have no seasoning Its gonna be hit and miss I hope they turn it around.

The barbecued meat here was worse than the barbecue sandwiches you can buy at a gas station. The brisket was disappointing, chicken was still very pink inside with some red spots. I trashed the chicken after a few bites but still got sick at night. The filet mignon had several cold spots, clearly not fresh or even properly warmed up. The sides were decent. Out of everything we tried, shoe string fries and onion rings were probably the most fresh food on the table. They have three different sauces, mild and spicy barbecue and a white sauce. We did actually like all three sauce. Service was terrible. Honestly you can get better BBQ and service at a gas station. Definitely not worth the money!!!

Went for the first time this past Saturday around 5pm. Service was a bit slow and food was room temperature. The meats tasted decent, but like i said, food was room temperature/cold and for the price, this is unsatisfactory. I suspect if they were halfway hot, they would have tasted great. They microwaved my mac and cheese in the back, it was still cold. The mac and cheese look disgusting and dried out. I requested a replacement, which the employee promptly did. The replacement was hot and fresh...why was I not provided this literally 5 minutes prior? Serving room temp food is a health hazard and definitely something that needs to be evaluated by management. I will say, all the employees on duty were friendly and professional, no complaints there. Horizon 76 is amazing and this is owned by the same people, so Im willing to give the food a second chance...but maybe Ill stick to the lunch/dinner rush only so the food is more fresh.

I gave it a 2 star on the food mainly because the pulled pork itself had a kerosene taste or smell, only way I could eat it was to smother it with there diabetes infused BBQ sauce. food portion was awesome though for one person it could feed a family of 3, BBQ sandwich, drink, 2 sides and a banana pudding almost 40$.

Came in for the first time and had the two meat plate. Brisket and jalapeño sausage. Both were very good. Had their pinto beans and elote style corn too. Dont forget their fried brownie pie with cinnamon ice cream. As with most BBQ now, it was a bit expensive but one of the best BBQ joints in this area. Give them a try.

Food looked good, for most of my party they enjoyed it. Sons meat was ice cold in the middle he didnt eat. My order was wrong not a bid deal usually but when I tried to get it fixed the cook who got it for me was mad I said anything then just gave me the exact same thing. Didnt bother eating cause of the way he acted when going back to get my food. Good atmosphere and seating outside. Might give them another chance down the road but not anytime soon.

I met with my girlfriends for a Friday night dinner. Despite there being quite a line when I arrived, it moved quickly, the people behind the counter were friendly and efficient, and my food was served faster than anticipated! I had the 3 meat plate with prime brisket, the bacon burnt ends, and the smoked turkey along with a baker and pinto beans. While the meats were tender and had good flavor, as well the BBQ sauce, the potato ended up being so large that I filled up on it without eating much of the meats! Of the little I tried, the brisket was a little fatty for my taste (maybe you can request different cuts?), but had a great flavor. The turkey was juicy (not dry like some places can be) and was thick cut. The burnt bacon ends really stole the show for me though and were my favorite meat that I ordered. I also had the opportunity to sample the smoked filet mignon. It was tender and so tasty! They have an assortment of other meats such as dino ribs, sausage, and smoked filet mignon that I didnt have the opportunity to try and Im looking forward to going back to sample those as well (being mindful of the ginormous baked potato this time!). Dietary restrictions: Most items are gluten free such as meats, sauces, and sides. If in doubt, just ask!

Very impressed with Outpost 36. Hubby and I stopped in for lunch today. We ordered the Trinity and Bacon Burnt Ends to share. The amount for food we received will feed us for dinner tonight too!! The brisket was perfectly cooked, the sausage (we tried both types) was very tasty and the ribs were amazing. We got the onion rings that our waitress recommended (kudos to you!) and the pinto beans. I told my husband that the pinto beans reminded me of his grandmother s old school pinto beans. They were great! The pickles were really good as was the bread. The Bacon Burnt Ends weren t out favorite but they weren t bad. Overall a solid 4.5. We will definitely be back to sit on that nice patio and eat that yummy BBQ!

We started out by reaching out via telephone and Esther made an appointment for coming in for a tasting. She had her team bring out some samples and even introduced them and asked what we were looking for. Once we expressed we wanted to hire them she made the process very simple. We were followed up with and everything was perfect from start to finish. They came out, they setup, they took care of our guests and they broken down and cleaned up. Many of our guests even asked for their info because they wanted to check out the restaurant. We personally just ordered the ribs, tenderloin and brisket and the sides were potato salad, the Mac (which ran out super fast very popular), coleslaw, green beans and bread. They even brought the ice and to go boxes too. Shoutout to the entire team but especially Esther. Thank you so much for making our even so special. I wish I would have taken photos to post.

Texas soul has landed in the heart of Keller. Tender brisket meets the burbs. Today was my partner and I s first visit at Outpost 36. Conveniently located off 377, we ve been eager to give Outpost a go for some weeks now. Upon first impression, we were pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and decor of the establishment. There s a large party room adjacent to the front door and after sampling some of their specialties, there s no doubt in my mind that this would be a great venue for a business luncheon. We ordered a 3 meat plate to share brisket, burnt Ed s, ribs, coleslaw & elote all for 28$$ before drinks and our additional side of Mac. Not only were the flavors giving home town, but who I assume to the be the manager checked on on us mid meal. I really appreciate the customer service and the fair prices at Outpost. We usually have to trek downtown to get good BBQ. I m happy to introduce a locally owned Mom & Pop into the mix. When we return we ll make sure to bring the whole family. Finally made a visit to this place and it left me wondering why I had not visited before today. The place has changed enough from the previous business there to offer their unique vision. When you walk in via the ENTER doors you are greeted with a visual that is welcoming to all guest. A short walk and you approach the counter where you are greeted by helpful staff and a menu board. The staff will offer you a paper menu to read as well if preferred. Now to the GOOD stuff. The food was very delicious. The meats are all tender and juicy and the sides was fantastic as well. We had Ribs, Chopped Brisket, Tendorloin, Turkey and Sliced Brisket. For sides we had Green Beans, Macaroni & Cheese, Onion Rings, and Elote and sliced bread that looked to be freshly made / sliced. We even had banana pudding. Everything was better than expected. There are many places to get BBQ but this place is better than many of them. Food was fresh and did not taste as if it was sitting around waiting to be passed out. They offer 3 types of sauces (Mild, Spicy, White) and all the flavors of them are good flavor and add to the bbq. The pickles are nicely sized and thickness as many places have them sliced very thinly. The onions are freshly sliced as well. Plenty of the napkins and clean table spaces available as well. All in all this place is very favorable in March 2024. We will be returning, maybe I will take some pictures to share as well. Parking: This location has plenty of outdoor parking available, well over 50 spaces as well as parking for disability vehicles.

I have been anticipating the opening of Outpost 36 for a while now and was excited to finally get the chance to try it out. I feel like they are a very solid BBQ joint. Not going to beat out any of the smaller craft BBQ places, but better than any chains you could go to. I got a 3 meat plate with brisket, jalapeno cheese sausage, and smoked filet mignon with Mac n cheese and fried okra. Boy was I surprised at how much food came on that tray! Huge plus for the amount of food and I was a big fan of the thick slice of bread. The Mac and okra were great, though I will warn you, the okra was VERY VERY salty. I happen to love that, but I know most people will think it was too much. The meats were all very solid. Nothing to write home about so they landed at a 4 for me but it was a lot of food and it was a pretty cool place. Definitely the best BBQ Ive found in the close proximity but not close to my top 5 for the DFW area. Other photo is my wifes three meat plate with the pork ribs, JC sausage, and bacon burnt ended with the Mac and onion rings.

Outpost 36 BBQ, where the only thing hotter than their smoker is the fiery passion they put into their food! Picture this: you walk in, greeted by the savory aroma of slow-cooked meats wafting through the air, and you know youre in for a treat. Now, let me tell you about their banana pudding. Its so good, it should be illegal. Seriously, Im pretty sure its what dreams are made of. Creamy, luscious, and just the right amount of banana goodness its like a dessert symphony in your mouth. Id trade my last rib for a spoonful of that pudding any day. Dont let the name fool you. Outpost 36 BBQ isnt just a restaurant; its a culinary adventure. Sure, theyve got all the barbecue classics covered, but they also throw in some unexpected twists thatll make your taste buds do a happy dance. Its like a flavor expedition with every bite! So, if youre in the mood for some top-notch barbecue, a killer banana pudding, and decent prices, as far as BBQ goes, head on down to Outpost 36 BBQ.
