Tourist/Out of Town Review: The food was alright, it kind of reminds me of sheetz gas station tacos. The bathrooms are clean. There is a really weird odor, and Im not sure what it is. Beers are cheap. My second beer was bad, had a strange metallic taste. Server/bartender didnt comprehend what I was saying, so i guess the price of the beer was tip. Mixed drinks are meh. However, the neighborhood is definitely sketch. The place is definitely sketchy as well. It seems like a place to take your sneaky link. Update: Apparently the area is a known Hotspot for criminal activity. Maybe avoid for now.

Had been a minute and glad we stopped by after a baseball game. Perfect way to close the evening and get the famous nachos and a beverage to accompany. Karaoke night(Thursday)just sealed the night. Had a great time!

Best nachos??? They had bland brisket with shredded cheese, no flavor. Seems like its only regulars and friends/ family that go. Smells like urine, trash cans were being taken out the front door, TVs were not working. Limited bar. Overrated!

My first time downtown El Paso and I really enjoyed The Tap! The music, atmosphere, service, the older crowd, the drinks, and food. I love the mirrors and disco ball too. I would have loved to see what it was like back in the day. Definitely will be back! Pictures are a little blurry but everything was delicious.

Oh my goodness Ive been coming to this establishment for over 20 yrs and never have I had such BAD service as I did today. I ordered our favorite nachos a la Mexicana but the tostadas were like rubber so I brought it up to the waitress attention, never did she offer to replace them instead told me that they must of not fried the tortillas right. I asked for more salsa didnt get it, i ask the bartender for salsa and she said she wasnt the server... The waitress never came back to ask if we needed another drink either. So disappointed.

The food and music were fantastic. Unfortunately, the service was absolutely terrible. Our waitress Mary went out of her way to avoid our table. I had to ask other servers just to get anything. I went up to the bar to order drinks, and she acted like she was annoyed I was there. Tried to wave her down multiple times and was ignored over and over again. The food runner was more attentive than her.

Boy they do live up to the hype. You gotta come try their The Tap Famous Nachos. They most certainly hit the spot. The nacho chips are YUGE and loaded to the max with delicious shredded brisket. Great spot to pregame before hitting the streets.

This is for sure a dive bar. Conveniently located near my hotel and by a recommended from the front desk I decided to try it out. When you walk in its dark. Very very dark. Like a dive bar should be. Sat down at the bar and was greeted promptly. Handed a menu and was a little confused. A lot of the entrees which were Mexican in nature, were served with baked potatoes. Now Im a foodie, I didnt necessarily mind but I really was left thinking. Not the normal texmex food. Got the combo one. Stuffed pepper, taco, enchilada beans and rice. Was the perfect amount of food. They give you chips and salsa as a starter. Chips are super crisp but the salsa was too spicy for this guero. They dont have any beers on tap, all bottles. They dont have free water (all bottled) but the food was good. If youre hungry and now that Ive set the expectation that its dark go try some food!

Food was not good, not worth the wait or the price. Service was disrepsectful. Its hard to mess up beans meat and cheese on chips so if youre looking for something greasy and simple this is your place but its not my vibe. Ordered a cocktail at the bar and it was all juice and ice. Other patrons were loud, screaming, whistling, touching and grabbing the servers, and wouldnt stop bumping into us sitting at our table. This is not the fault of the business but just the general vibe check. Left with a headache.

I heard this was a must if you are in El Paso so I figured why not. I was in around 6:30 p.m. on a Tuesday. I get it that my timing may have missed the good vibes, so take my experience for what it is. Regardless, I tried the chicken nachos since nachos are one of the items that i was told they are known for. Ummm, major disappointment. The two young ladies working the bar were more interested in talking to each other than any of the customers. The atmosphere was kinda cool. I believe it is probably pretty fun on a weekend night.

Its the first time I visited this place in El Paso, I went around 12 and believe me, they already had a good atmosphere. The people who go there are super nice. The music is with a jukebox and its varied. The girl who served us sat at the bar, super nice. They even gave us 2 tequilas, they made us feel very good and I say this because it seemed like everyone knew each other. It was very nice. The food was very good. It was Mexican and you even had seafood, so I definitely recommend it. Some days they have karaoke. On that occasion, 2 guys arrived, I think. The people from the street are called and they sang very well. The center of Paso is very safe and the Tap Bar should be a place where they go to have a drink, eat something and enjoy the good atmosphere for a while. They speak Spanish and English so there is no problem. It is a historic place in the center of El Paso, it is worth it

Agreed with other reviewer. Smells faintly like a dirty bathroom. Yuck. Food was good. Tepequena steak was okay wouldnt get that again. Vampire drink was good. Helpful staff. Dont think Ill be back unless they start using different cleaner.... Update: smelled better but waitress with glasses was rude. We were ordering our food with her and she was tapping her long fingernails on our table impatiently as we ordered. Just very unhelpful. Floors were dirty too.

A solid shotgun style dive bar in downtown with vintage vibes. Lots of bartenders made getting a drink easy. Flautas we re good, definitely restaurant quality. There was a funky smell that was a little off putting. Bonus points for the Mother Mary shrine. I would return and recommend.
