I love trying new bbq places and I heard all the hype about this place. I asked for moist brisket and they gave me the end cap of the brisket which was not moist at all and flavorless. The end caps should be chopped up for sandwiches just saying. Mac n cheese stole the show. I m pretty sure if they would have given me a slice of moist brisket from the center of the brisket it would have been delicious. O well .

I ve heard that this place has fell off as of late. I can t speak on what it used to taste like, but this was great. Went with the three meat plate: pork ribs, pulled pork, and burnt ends. The pork ribs were almost falling off the bone and very flavorful. Enough meat on the bone and didn t need sauce. This was the first time I ve had pulled pork with such a good bark. The texture it added was great along with the fattiness of the meat. The burnt ends were my least favorite meat of the trio. They weren t as tender as I d like but still solid. I got collared greens on the side which were both sweet and spicy. I need to eat this more often as they were so tasty. I was also able to try a spicy bbq wing which was great. There was a nice crisp and good kick in spice. Finally, tried the tumbleweed cookie. A little disappointed with this as I couldn t taste the peanut butter and would have liked some more chocolate chips. I did like the amount of coconut and crunch from the pretzels though. Really enjoyed everything but the cookie. Fair price and tons of food. Highly recommend if you re in the downtown Dallas area.

Okay I just tried this place and I must say I was very disappointed! The brisket, macaroni and the rib I had was on the dry side. The beans had too much cilantro! The flavor in the sausage must have came out with the juices. And I most definitely didn t care for the bbq sauce. Now the banana pudding was decent. I ve been waiting to try this place for a while, should have listened. Going back to No Doubt BBQ, it s much better!! KC BBQ is the best!

A little underwhelming for a first visit. Im not sure i would make a second trip. Its undoubtedly good, but maybe not great. I had the 2 meat plate with a side (brisket, jalapeno sausage, and mac & cheese. The sausage was good, but lacked spice was a bit heavy on the cheese inside. The brisket was a generous portion but included dry and moist cuts, and the dry side required sauce. The mac and cheese came with a sprinkling of bacon, which was the only flavor in the dish. Service was mostly disinterested in customers, with the exception of an influencer they were allowing to film in and out the dining room.

I went to Pecan Lodge today. I had the 2 meat plate , with ribs and brisket with a side of collard greens. First off , there wasn t a long wait which was good. However, I had to send the collard greens back because they were sweet , and it appeared that there was bbq sauce in them? That was totally unexpected . And not in a good way. I had to send them back, and they kindly switched them for fried okra. I will be brief . The ribs were dry and the brisket was dry also. I really don t like to give restaurants bad reviews , but this was unacceptable .

I was QUITE DISAPPOINTED with our visit..... My husband and I were downtown, and decided to try a place in Deep Elum. He let me off at the door, thank goodness for the handrails otherwise I wouldnt have been able to make the stairs. As soon as I walked in I was told you cannot sit ,.... Im definitely an older lady.... SMH .... Finally they let me sit for a moment at the pickup window. After my husband payed for 2plus hour parking,.. we were able to get in a line to order. Some of the dishes we ordered were: MAC-N- CHEESE, NOT REALLY ANYTHING SPECIAL, their COOKED GREENS had ALOT OF SUGAR IN IT as if it was a MISTAKE...... instead of salt..... WHO PUTS SUGAR IN THEIR GREENS ....???? & when we were ordering.... we asked the cashier if we could just get the sweet potato as a vegetable not the whole price of a TheHotMess potato meal. He walked away for a minute to ask..... & came back & said yes...... then charged us the full price. I ordered the rib plate asking how many ribs come on that plate,.... he said it depends on how big the ribs are.... 2 or 3 ,..... I got 2 OF THE SMALLER END RIBS... YES THEY WERE the SMALLER END RIBS FOR $14.99 thats $7.50 EACH RIB PLUS THE COST OF MY VEGGIES.... you pay $$$ ALA-CART for each item. I was UNIMPRESSED BY THE RIBS ...... VERY MINIMAL FLAVOR ..... The BAKED SWEET POTATO WAS NOT BAKED !! It was BOILED, THEN BAKED TO DRY OFF & seir the outside..... BUTTER DIDNT HELP IT ANY..... IT JUST BECAME SWEET POTATO SOUP !!! I realize that todays prices are very high because of inflation,..... but $64. + DOLLARS for to people to eat,.... at a serve yourself restaurant...... plus over $7.00 for parking. IS ALOT,..... the food should have been wonderful..... THEY DEFINITELY NEED DIFFERENT COOKS AND MOST DEFINITELY DIFFERENT RECIPES..... THEIR Web pg. CLAIMED WONDERFUL BANANA PUDDING..... I WAS SHOCKED TO HEAR THAT ABOUT AN 8oz cup was $7.00 plus tax...... & NO........ IT WASNT !!! It just tasted like pudding from a can .....restaurant supply ....with two soggy little cookies. DONT WAST YOUR MONEY !!! I WONT WAIST MINE AGAIN !!!

I d say this was a fine bbq place. I expected more given the reviews. The sauces were very good, and I could tell the bbq was seasoned well, I just felt like the brisket was very very dry. The ribs were outstanding, and highly recommend. Finally, the mac and cheese which felt a little too velveeta for me. Overall, worth the try, just lower expectations. Side bar: they also don t have sweet tea, which might be the first bbq restaurant I ve ever been to that doesn t have sweet tea.

Pecan Lodge is a must-visit for any barbecue enthusiast in Dallas. Their brisket is melt-in-your-mouth tender, their ribs fall off the bone, and their pulled pork is incredibly flavorful. The sides are equally impressive, with standout options like their creamy mac and cheese and tangy coleslaw. Be prepared to wait, as Pecan Lodge is always busy due to its incredible reputation. But trust me, the wait is absolutely worth it. Once you taste their barbecue, youll understand why theyre considered one of the best in the country.

Pecan Lodge in Dallas is a barbecue lovers paradise. This place is all about authentic, Texas-style BBQ, and the moment you step in, the smoky aroma gets your mouth watering. The brisket is tender, juicy, and packed with flavor it s easily the star of the show. I m also a big fan of their ribs and the signature Hot Mess loaded sweet potato. The portions are generous, and the sides like mac n cheese and collard greens are the perfect complements. Loved the vibe of the place, being a native Texan n all! Didn t like the girl in the front, she wasn t very friendly. One thing that was hard not to notice that every person around us had the hard plastic blue cups, but my mother and I me being a black woman received the soft clear plastic water cups. What s up with that? We saw mother and daughter duo, who happened to be black, and they also received the same kind of cups we did. The rest of the customers were white and received regular cups. My mother and I both found it strange. And although it s a small thing, it s still peculiar, noticeable, and hurtful to say the least. Other than that, the food was mediocre for the price we paid. BBQ sauce sucked and was really watery. Potato salad? More like mustard salad. Only great things were the Mac N Cheese, Banana Pudding, and the pickles served on the side.

Nice restaurant to enjoy brisket, ribs and turkey and sausage. Family owned restaurant with good customer service. This is a hole in the wall gem for someone who enjoy a casual eating experience. Known among the locals. Meats are very tender and juicy. Not much seasoning. They offer bbq sauce amd pork kettle sauce but it has no pork in it. Parking is limited and unless you get there before 6pm you will have to feed the meter or do paid parking. I enjoyed my time there and suggest it for eating solo, with family and friends or as a group. Enjoy!

Pecan Lodge is a standout gem in the Dallas BBQ scene, offering a truly authentic Texas smokehouse experience. The moment you step inside, you re transported back to a time when barbecue was about more than just food it was a way of life. The rich, smoky aroma hits you immediately, reminiscent of true Texas barbecue, where the flavors of mesquite and oak wood mingle perfectly with the tender meats. The brisket at Pecan Lodge is a showstopper, cooked to perfection with a beautiful smoke ring and just the right amount of seasoning. It s clear that every piece of meat is treated with care and a deep understanding of the barbecue craft. The ribs are equally impressive, falling off the bone with each bite, and the house-made sausage is a must-try, packed with flavor and a satisfying snap. One of the standout features of Pecan Lodge is the dedication to tradition and quality. Everything is made from scratch, from the savory Southern Fried Chicken to the creamy mac n cheese and the delicious collard greens. Each side dish is crafted with as much care as the meats, adding to the overall experience. The sides are not just an afterthought but an essential part of the meal, enhancing the main courses with their bold and comforting flavors. Be prepared to wait, though, as lines can be long. But trust me, it s worth every minute. The long wait is a testament to the popularity and quality of this establishment. Pecan Lodge has become a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike, with many people returning again and again for a taste of their superb barbecue. In a city filled with great BBQ joints, Pecan Lodge stands out not only for its incredible food but also for its deep-rooted history and dedication to family and tradition. The owners, who left their corporate jobs to pursue a dream, have created a place that feels both familiar and extraordinary. This isn t just about brisket or ribs; it s about capturing the essence of Texas barbecue in every bite. Whether you re a BBQ aficionado or just looking for a fantastic meal, Pecan Lodge should be at the top of your list. Don t forget to save room for Aunt Polly s banana pudding you won t regret it!

We love barbeque and had Pecan Lodge on our list to try for quite a while and my wife, daughter and I went down to check it out today. After getting our food (about $78.00) we sat down to ear and our daughter went to put some barbeque sauce on her tray. The sauce has seeds in it (see picture) which she didnt realize were clogging the nozzle on the bottle. When she squeezed the bottle, sauce shot out and splattered all over her shirt (as well as my wife and me), soiling it so badly she wasnt comfortable wearing it. Obviously this was not the restaurants fault, but we thought they might make a gesture my offering her a Pecan Lodge t-shirt to change into. The young man at the counter said he couldnt do that, so my wife bought a shirt for $28.00. I then spoke with the manager on duty, explained the situation, and asked if she could at least discount the shirt since we were only buying it because of the accident. She said she would see what she could do and came back several minutes later explaining that she had called her boss, and her boss said there was nothing they could do. My complaint is this: We had been looking forward to experiencing Pecan Lodge. We spent a lot of money on lunch. We had an accident that was our fault, but one that it could be argued the restaurant has some culpability in. To solve the problem we bought a $28.00 t-shirt that undoubtedly cost the restaurant no where near that. Instead of making a guest happy, they refused and made us feel taken advantage of. In the end, I dont think Pecan Lodge should expect to see us back.

Stopped by and got lucky with no queue. System works where you queue up to the counter to order and then take your seat and wait for them to call the order which was nice and quick as the meat is ready to go. The bbq food is very decent, I had the pork ribs, brisket, burnt ends, and a side of coleslaw. The portion size is small for the price ($25.98) with one pork rib, two slices of brisket, and two burnt ends. The quality is very high however, the meat falls apart and has a deep flavour that is really nice. The burnt ends arent too burnt and have a sweetness. The coleslaw is pretty spicy which I wasnt expecting but it really good. Bar has a good selection of drinks with an attentive and helpful barman. Good selection of local beers to suit your preference, some are quite strong too. Dietary restrictions: They mark gluten free on the menu.

This BBQ restaurant is one that has been on my wanna try list for awhile now. It did not disappoint. I chose the 2 meat with one side plate and my son chose the Hot Mess. The brisket was a half pound slice, over an inch thick. I picked the smoked turkey and got the macaroni and cheese as a side. The Hot Mess was a loaded sweet potato as big as his head, loaded with Texas barbacoa, Oaxaca cheese sauce, bacon, chipotle sour cream. Usually he finishes his food wherever we go, but this was so big, he brought home half of it with him. Everything was delicious, especially the green chili mac and cheese. The fresh bacon bits on top. The restaurant is in an eclectic part of Dallas known as Deep Ellum. Great area to walk around after your meal and check out the other local vendors. We will definitely keep this on the top of the list for a great food experience.

In 60 years of enjoying BBQ across the country, I have never had to pay for a slice of bread with a meal! Why would Pecan Lodge charge $.50 for a piece of bread? It was shocking when they do everything so very well! The lack of sweet tea was also surprising. Their sliced brisket, pulled pork, and burnt ends were great, as was their potato salad, cole slaw, and okra. The collards were too sweet for our family s taste, but were cooked well. They lived up to their hype of being one of the best BBQ restaurants in Texas minus their tight fist on a slice of bread.

This place is where it s at for delicious food, good value, and quick service. Finding a table can be a bit challenging but they do their best to clean them up and keep things moving. The Trough is a fantastic option if you have a group and want to try a little of all of their specialties. Don t miss out on the sides, the okra and Mac n cheese were yummy. The bbq sauce had a little kick to it and it s just right for all of their meats. The homemade sausage is a score along with the enormous beef rib. The pulled pork was a group fave and everyone enjoyed the brisket. Perfect Texas bbq option with a fun area to explore. Don t forget to try the pie shop next store.

Place was crazy expensive for the quality. The staff definitely tolerates you, there is no bussing out table service. Sorry I dont want to have to sit down next to another persons trash covered in flies. They dont put prices on their menu either which is pretty shady. The pork sandwich I got didnt seem smoked very much at all and was pretty flavorless compared to other places Ive tried. The sides were not memorable. Was a $35 dollar lesson I guess. It is good to know that Chicago BBQ generally crushes TX. Im guessing wood is really expensive in the desert so they dont use very much actual wood when they smoke.

The Collard Greens and dinner rolls were good. The jalapeño Mac and Cheese tasted processed. But that rib was 2/3rd inedible all fat and hard bark. Great food. Good value on everything except desert. Got my order delivered. Didn t eat it in the restaurant. $8 for a tiny little container of banana pudding ! $8 for about 50 cents worth of banana pudding! (2 heaping tablespoons). The meal portions were fair, but apparently Pecan Lodge believes their banana pudding is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It was about average. A casserole-sized dish of banana pudding at Pecan Lodge would run you about $400. Proportionately, it is by far the most expensive item on the menu. How insane is that? Stay away from the dessert unless you are rich

Visiting Dallas and needed some good ol Texas BBQ. Pecan Lodge didnt disappoint. The atmosphere was what a BBQ place should be and the staff was very friendly. In the picture is the three meat plate with one side. My choice was brisket, pulled pork, pork rib and mac & cheese (side). All three meats were fantastic and didnt really need sauce, which is a good thing. The only issue I had was their BBQ sauce. It was saturated in vinegar and took away the natural taste of the meat. Outside of that, I highly recommend it to anyone.

Brisket had almost no smoke flavor. No smoke ring and was very overcooked. Couldnt even pick it up without it falling apart. Mac and cheese tasted like it come out of a box with powdered cheese. The sausage was so old and sat under a warmer for so long it crusted up and tasted of oil. Turkey was ok, probraly the only meat we had that was decent. Peach cobbler was surprisingly pretty good.
