I came here alone to maybe walk the trails and get some exercise. I was afraid. It was very overgrown. No one has mowed this place in a while. There were some homeless men there. That might have been OK if I wasnt a single female by myself in an overgrown wilderness. I was kind of afraid because all of the unsloved mystery TV shows came to my mind, so I just got out of there fast. I was kind of hoping to see some trails, but I didnt see any near the entrance. I dont know if there are any farther back. I was kind of afraid to go any further than I did. I talked to my coworker, who said it used to be a really nice park. Im not sure what happened. Hopefully, they can get the vegetation under control and landscaped. I wouldnt come here as a single female. Maybe come with a group of people or something. It just didnt feel safe being a single female at this park.

For a green space its beautiful til u start to notice the infestation of homeless drug addicts you WILL find used uncapped needles, broken crackpipes ,beer cans dirty clothes and encampment remnants everywhere the cityis really overcome by this issue however the lack of respect for this beautiful space by the and homeless make it unsafe for families.. BE CAUTIOUS IN THIS AREA!!

Good wild place in the city to be with nature in a real life setting. It was clean and semi manicured enough to walk around freely. There are hidden areas that are allowed to become overgrown, which are great for wildlife. I will return to this place as a regular stop on my birding adventures. I did not feel in danger despite the aloneness, there were not any homeless people sleeping there, or hanging out. I think the police do a good job of keeping it free of vagrants. This is a free park with no gates.

Never give up on Blucher Park! The first few times I ve visited and saw very mundane birds, a lot of trash and homeless people and their garbage, I was unimpressed. However, I kept going back and Blucher Park eventually revealed itself as quite a gem!

The Blucher Nature Park, tucked right in behind the downtown of Corpus Christi, is a gorgeously designed and landscaped masterpiece of nature right within the city. I encourage you to let it be a relatively electronics-free zone. See if you can put all your attention on nature while you are in the park - and forgo any typical habits of checking your email or listening to music or podcasts or talking on the phone. If you are walking with a friend with whom your habit is to chat as you walk, see if you can instead throw all your attention on nature while you are walking - and try to restrain your comments to things like Did you hear that bird? or Hey, look at this! My deep gratitude to whatever group poured so much love and attention into this park. The one change I would suggest is to eliminate the oppressive middle-class ordinance about no smoking in the park. If there had been more poor or working-class people on the team that created the park, I doubt this particular rule would have been included. Please change it to, Please dispose of any cigarette butts in the blue barrels you will find spaced within the park. Those blue barrels are almost an intrusion in the park, but they do the job. I have seen only a few tiny instances of litter in the park - and disposed of those myself. The park is right next to the stunning and wonderful La Retama Central Library. I encouraged patrons of the library to take frequent breaks from their mental work to return to the more nurturing world of nature.

This is more like a green space than a city park. There are no picnic tables, play sets, or bathrooms. There are trails that wander through the space under trees, so its good for a little walk. However, if you like watching birds, it is a *great* place especially during spring and fall migration!

Empty lot with a small forest. A bunch of hobos were arguing around some of the trees when I was there. A mission is next to it so I imagine there are hobos around this place 24/7. Pros: If you want to have the smell of a green viberant forest mixed with a hint of freshly smoked meth then you should come here. Cons: the human inhabitants of this forest are hostile.

This use to be a lovely park. But there entire area has gone to the dogs. On the parks North side is a public library which is ok sometimes. On the East side sits a new mission for the homeless who wander into the park for drinking, drug usage and unclean sex. On the Southside is a ghetto with ghetto like creatures. And on the Westside is a elementary school full of kids from the ghetto. I feel sorry for the upstanding citizens and businesses that have share a community with these degenerates. Great park ruined by its surroundings.

It is a beautiful green space with native flora and fauna. It is a designated bird watching area as well. It backs the Retama Central Library. The Nature Conservancy is nearby. Although there is a park curfew, the park is frequented by vagrants/homeless which unfortunately compromises the safety of this otherwise serene and historic place.

Awesome nature trail park. Good for bird watchers and those who enjoy some hillside wooded forest trails to explore. Downside is on occasion the homeless tend to usually hang out and may bother you for commodities from time to time, but usually very friendly folks for the most part. Some trash thrown around, but not a dump, and at times the water standing in the valley area cause mosquitos to bother you. Bring bug spray. Other then that its a really cool place to hang out.

Blucher Park is a very peaceful place near the main library downtown. There are plenty of songbirds and butterflys in the spring and a variety of trees with marked, peaceful paths. The park isnt particularly large but there is room to explore and take a break from the daily grind. We visit it regularly, and even took some of our maternity photo sets there. There are some obvious urban infrastructure areas in the park, culverts and drainage pipes, and things of that nature - there will occasionally be a homeless person taking advantage of the cover and shade, but that has never been a big deal.
