First time visiting. Our food came out separate, waited 15 minutes in between various people plates. Had to.ask 4 times for missing items. Never got a fork so 3 people shared 2 forks. They didnt clear tables and staff could care less. It was busy and we were patient and in no hurry but ridiculous service. Some tables seemed to get food out fine.

Great food! Owner took the time to discuss the menu, have a quick conversation, and check in with us during our dining! His attention to detail is present in the food and in the experience. Line is long but moves at a decent pace. Do plan for around 30+ mins if outside the door. Worth the wait! We ordered a bit of everything and nothing disappointed. Nutella waflles were a hit with our 8 Y.O. The spicy chicken tenders were juicy! Mild packs a decent kick and gives it a great flavor. The higher spicy levels will definitely cause you to reach for the water! The potatoes bites were awesome. Waffles were nice and fluffy, and French toast was thick but fluffy as well. Overall great experience and would highly recommend!

I have been eating at Mess since it was a food truck on campus back in 2017 and words cannot express how much I love the food, atmosphere, and people at mess! This restaurant will forever hands down be my favorite place for mac n cheese (Up Cluck and Away is a must try), chicken sandwiches, and of course chicken and waffles! I have hooked every single one of my friends here and it is my first recommendation to out of towners every single time. Even as I move away, I will be visiting whenever Im back in town!

The best chicken waffle I ve ever had. The dessert waffle is pretty good, too. I ve left college station and I missed mess waffle so much. I would def love to revisit it when I went back to college station someday. They used to have a food truck on campus and it s always my first go-to place. The store at the far corner is a bit less convenient. The walk from the campus in the texas summer is not a joke but it is 100% worth it.

This breakfast/brunch/lunch establishment is very good. Lots of variety, from yogurt parfaits to avocado toast to chicken and waffles to egg sandwiches. They even have seitan you can substitute for chicken for us vegetarians! Staff is always nice and food gets cooked and delivered quickly. Only downside (which is a just a small downside) is I wish the tables inside were spread out a little more, it feels a little cramped trying to walk around the other tables/guests to refill a drink. Vegetarian options: Seitan as a chicken substitute. Avocado toast. Waffles/pancakes. Yogurt parfait. Side options such as French fries.

I recently ordered a super large catering order and the owner, Sal, was nothing short of a dream to work with! He helped us pack as much food as we could get into our budget and made sure to suggest best practices to keep our food fresh! Everyone at our event absolutely LOVED the food. Well definitely be using Mess for future catering orders again!

Wasnt too bad. It was very crowded but thats expected. It was my first time here. I ordered the Mess Breakfast. Loved the eggs! Im a huge fan of runny scrambled eggs. I wasnt a huge fan of the waffle. It tasted like just basic bread to me rather than the average taste of a waffle. I loved how crispy and light it was though. Mixed with the syrup and its not bad. The potato bites were too thick in my opinion. It had a gummy feel and I could taste the oil. The seasoning was good but they werent the best in my opinion. The sausage was good. I wished I had a little bit more but thats okay. Overall, Id give it another try.

When going to school at A&M, myself and my friends loved mess and were loyal and frequent customers. My partner especially loved it and since we moved away after graduation he has missed it dearly. We are driving for a road trip and decided to make a slight detour solely so that we could eat at our favorite breakfast/brunch place in cstat. Due to it being winter break and hours change in cstat with students leaving I checked the website when we began our drive to ensure their closing time was still 3 PM. To double check, I called them at 12:16 PM and spoke to a girl on the phone who confirmed that they closed at 3 PM today and their hours have not changed for winter break. We arrived at 2:15 PM to people cleaning up and a sheet of printer paper taped on the door written in sharpie that their hours have changed due to winter break and their new closing time was 2 PM everyday. I noticed a worker sweeping outside and asked him about it and he said that it was decided today. I told him that I had called a couple of hours ago and was given the wrong information and he said that the decision was made after the time I called. I find it very unprofessional given that I called ahead and checked beforehand. It leaves a very sour taste in my mouth and my partner was so upset that he said we might not ever go again due to this, but this was said in anger and we probably will still visit when we can. It makes me very sad and disappointed, because this was a staple for us when we were in school and the food is truly fantastic. As someone who has previously worked in the service industry, I understand that things can change, but if I had gotten a call asking about our closing time and given a usual closing time I believe that should be taken into account for the rest of the day to avoid things like this happening and disappointing people. I understand that we are all human and human errors happen. I have been there countless other times and honestly, every other time has been a 5/5. The food is amazing and the service is outstanding. We always get the chicken and waffles, the mac and cheese, the mess fries, and we try a new sweet waffle each time we go. It honestly speaks volumes that we have been there countless times before and this was our first bad encounter. Yes, there is a long wait most of the time, but honestly the food is so worth the wait. Plus, if you don t want to wait, you can order online, park in the curbside spot, get your food brought to you, bring it home and, and it it there with little to no wait. Overall, yes, we were disappointed today, but based on past visits, we probably won t be next time. Looking forward to our next visit, because we really miss our chicken and waffles!

Portions are generous and tasty. We had the Mess Breakfast, Nutella waffles, French toast, and chicken and waffles. All were great. Of all the dishes the only thing I wasnt a big fan of were the potato bites. I think it was more of a texture issue (too mushy in the middle). Aside from that, we all enjoyed our dishes.

This place has nothing that stood out, was special, or caught my attention. This was a super simple atmosphere. The service was fine, but when asked for what they enjoy or what is good, there was hesitation and just named the fidst thing on the menu it just didnt seem they even enjoyed the food. I was confused by having to pick a place to sit while i was ordering. It confused me a bit. The food was nothing special. The waffles were sad. They were fluffy, which was great, but they lacked flavor. There is so much that could have been done with these waffles, but instead, I was presented with a bland batter flavor. When waffle is in the name, I expect waffle to be the star. The waffle was treated as a plate. Everything just piled on top. Chicken was tasty and juicy, which was great. Eggs were flavorless but fluffy. Bacon super crispy potato bites were potatoes. Nothing about any of the food was impressive. For $33, I was left wanting more.

Service: 4/5, solid, wasn t blown away but they were nice I ordered the mess breakfast (waffle, scrambled eggs, potatoes, and your choice of meat (I got the chicken tender since it seemed to be in a lot of other menu items)) and here are my thoughts. Chicken: 3/5, okay, didn t really seem hand breaded or anything home cooked but tasted good enough with sauce Waffle: 5/5, I really was blown away by how well the waffle was cooked and it had a really nice texture to it and paired well with their syrup Eggs: 5/5, the highlight of my meal. They scrambled my eggs to perfection, not too dry or moist and the flavor was great too. Portion was in the 2-3 egg range. A little buttery and salty, not overboard. Was not expecting fresh cooked eggs of this caliber but definitely would recommend. Better than most diner scrambled eggs I ve had. Potatoes: 4.5/5, interesting take on hash browns, pretty good, almost like a deep fried mashed potato cube. Nice touch having ketchup and hot sauce available complimentary (different dipping sauces were about an extra dollar each). It wasn t super clear what to do with your dirty dishes when done so maybe some signage could help. I m only in town a few days but I might actually come back for another breakfast one of these days just for the eggs and waffle.

Dang this place is GOOD! -- end of review! JK I really liked it and so did my wife. Most of the things on the menu have a kick of spice, so you may be disinclined by that alone, but I found myself liking it a lot more because of that! I had the chicken and waffles with medium spice. It was enjoyable and delicious. I also threw on some spicey honey sauce and it was a very good choice. My wife complimented the side of bacon because she felt it was a good portion of bacon for the price. Happy wife, happy life. We both had coffees and it was really good! The service was great, no complaints there! We were the first ones here right when they opened and slowly some others started showing up. But there for a while it was all ours. We sat outside and enjoyed the view (pics attached). It was a very calming environment and just what we needed to get a break from our hectic routines. Well be back for sure and maybe Ill try the California Reaper spice next time. Parking: The parking is free if you use the parking garage on the south side, next to the movie theater. Otherwise, youll pay a pretty penny even if its just for an hour.

Not impressed. We were in town for a softball tournament and trying to find someplace to eat that we didn t have back home. Saw this place on Google so we thought we d check it out. Didn t know that it was paid parking at the restaurant so we drove around looking for another parking option. Come to find out there is a parking garage on the other side of the restaurant/shopping center. We were pressed for time as we were trying to eat in between games. We eventually found our way over there, parked and walked to the restaurant. We ordered at the counter which took a while since we had never been there before and weren t sure about some menu options. Our food was not that great. Mac & cheese was very bland so we didn t even finish it, the waffle was very crispy, and the chicken was dry. One of my daughters did order regular waffles and she enjoyed them. Parking: It is paid parking by the restaurants, but there is a free parking garage.

Overall, it was pretty good. The iced coffee was decent. Nothing fancy, but good quality coffee. The Mess breakfast was just mediocre. The potatoes were not something I enjoyed at all, unfortunately. They were super heavy and greasy. The waffle wasnt anything to write home about. The French toast was pretty impressively plated. It was a huge serving of light, spongy, fluffy bread that was battered and fried on the sides. It was topped with cookie butter and whipped cream, and it was very good. Too rich to finish, but I would definitely recommend and will be having it again eventually.

Absolutely trash food. The waffle was cold and tasted like Eggo. The eggs were from a carton. The potato bites were greasy little squares. The only decent food on the plate was the sausage. I rank this as overpriced hotel food. We got a simple I m sorry when we told the staff the food was unacceptable. They were more concerned with the conversation going on in the back. And to top it off, we had to pay to park. Not the restaurant s fault, but still something to keep in mind for this establishment. $35 thrown away for 2 people to eat. LOVE this place, been around since the food truck days and keep coming back. One suggestion would be to update the system to allow substitutions - I wanted to sub the fries for fruit in the chicken and fries meal, but wasnt able to. The gal working the register gave me the option to add everything individually, but that comes out a little more than what the meal costs. These are the best chicken tenders Ive ever had and the maple aoli is unmatched - if that could be bottled up I would 100% buy it. Tried the seasonal apple pie waffle for the first time and it was delicious! Wait was reasonable, tables, restrooms, etc. was clean, and staff was great!

Terrible ordering system. My pregnant wife and I waited in the sun for over 15 minutes and then an additional 15 minutes inside just to order. The bathroom had no toilet paper and the table we were seated at looked disgusting and broken. Now the food was absolutely delicious. We had the waffles and a hot chicken sandwich. I enjoyed both. If I came back I would order to go and avoid the fire hazard at the door. I appreciate the reply. At no point in time did I have the opportunity to speak to anyone while in line to ask if my wife can sit while I waited. Your sign is obviously ignored by the majority of your patrons. You had one cashier working on a Saturday. This is what caused the long wait. A typical brunch establishment may also have a 30 minute wait but customers will spend the majority of it seated at their table or waiting for the hostess to call them. The point of sale process doesnt work well here. The cracked table is actually sharp. Once again, I appreciate the reply, Ill revisit in the near future to see if it has improved because the food is that good.

The wait is long and I could see multiple tables that were empty, so I feel like the wait would be a lot faster if we could be seated and then have our order be taken. Also, what if you ordered a mimosa and then realized you wanted another one... theres no way you would want to wait in that long of a line again. It would have been nice to have someone to ask for other items like an extra dish or more utensils/straws. If you dont want to have a wait staff, atleast have 2 registers open or have another person with a tablet taking orders. The Texas sun is hot, with long lines you should provide your customers with some shade as they stand in line outside for long periods of time.

Jordan and I visited MESS with a couple of friends. Firstly, the location was easy to find. Its right there along with the other shops. You may or may not have to pay for parking. We visited the establishment on the weekend, so it was quite crowded. Because it was our first time, we asked our friends for recommendations. We ordered the Chicken & Waffles (Snack and Regular) with Maple Aioli. We subbed the Regular with Hot Chicken. Our friends ordered the Up, Cluck & Away and the Nutella Waffles, among other items. I personally didnt enjoy eating at MESS. My waffles (the Hot Chicken & Waffles Regular with Maple Aioli) were fairly soft. Meanwhile, Jordans (the Chicken & Waffles Snack) was crispy. The Hot Chicken was also not spicy, which was something I expected from Hot Chicken and something the staff mentioned. As for Jordan, he really enjoyed his Chicken & Waffles Snack Size. The Nutella Waffles were pretty good and sweet, if thats something youd enjoy for brunch. Overall, I havent been willing to revisit but will one day in the near future. The taste of the food is a 3/5 for me, but because of how nice and attentive the staff members were, Im giving the total a 4/5.

The food here was excellent. The marketing photos surprisingly do the food justice you get the kind of quality comfort food that is pictured. I tried the Nashville hot chicken Mac n cheese and my partner tried the chicken and waffles. Both were really good and surprisingly filling portions. The indoor seating was a tad smaller than expected, but in a breezy or nice day the outdoor seating makes up for that. The only real negative for the experience was that the coffee (the works variety) was pretty undrinkable. It was just a sweet syrupy drink that was lacking in any real coffee body, so we d advise passing on the coffee altogether.

I LOVE mess. As a vegetarian I am so so glad they have options that cater to my dietary restrictions. Their vegan Mac is better than their regular Mac it s absolutely insane. I wish they had the option to put Cajun seasoning on it with the vegan fried chicken. I ve asked and they done it for me a few times but I wish it was just a menu item already. Love it here though.

The vegan options are fresh and tasteful. Being vegan for 5 years now, MESS Waffles was the first place I ever tried vegan chicken and waffles and am super impressed and happy I did. Their Mac and cheese is impeccable, too. Just wouldn t recommend the oily side potatoes. It s too heavy. Their avocado toast is delicious and light. Many different options to try including dessert waffles.

Being that I find myself frequently visiting College Station, Ive grown to learn the local area and have patronized numerous business - especially breakfast and brunch places such as Mess. Having said that, I can say with the upmost confidence that Mess is hands down the best breakfast-brunch location in the area. The food has been a consistent hit with me and has not once failed to meet my expectations. Everything from their signature chicken and waffles to their homemade mac and cheese and even their various dessert items are all must-trys. I especially recommend their new chicken sandwich - its delicious. While yes, the wait time to get a table during peak hours may be a tad bit on the longer side at times, remember: If the food wasnt as excellent and popular as it is, youd be seated as soon as you come in.

The Waffles and Tenders were good but there was hair in my waffles. I got them to replace my meal with the fries and tenders and when I asked for more ranch the dude was like we actually charge for extra and when i offered to pay he was like it s ok I got you. First off my first meal that had hair in it was more than the one you gave me to replace then second why would you even mention that it costs extra at all. Like I said the food was good but they need to wear nets. We waited a while to even sit and eat our food for me to have to just not eat and wait for more food to come and I had to take it to go because my party was already done eating.

Mess waffles was such a fantastic experience for us. We celebrated my daughters birthday yesterday and she was still in celebration mode this morning and wore her Happy Birthday headband to Mess this morning. The lovely person working at the register took notice and kindly wished her happy birthday. Ordering was super easy, the restaurant is very aesthetically pleasing, and the food was sooooo good. We all ordered something from a different part of the menu(the waffles, chicken and fries, chicken and waffles and the egg sandwich) and everything was phenomenal. We were also happily surprised when our daughter was brought a special plate of waffles with Happy Birthday written in chocolate by the same sweet person working the register. We will definitely be back to Mess soon.
