I really like the Satellite Cafe. We stopped coming because they only have my favorite dish sporadically. They need to bring back their signature dish, the Orchid Chicken. It is my favorite dish here.

We decided to go out for our anniversary and boy did we pick the wrong place! We were sorely disappointed. We had: A gin cocktail that was disgusting Appetizers- calamari (burnt and thin, marinara sauce was more like salsa super spicy) and the Greek melted cheese with veggies (the cheese was so salty and the veggies were incredibly sweet. They gave a party of 5 four pita wedges to eat this with) Entrees: power bowl (Brussels were under cooked, bland flavor, bleh) champagne salad (way too much dressing. The lettuce was soggy) Kids- spaghetti and meatballs. Both kids complained the marinara was bland and the meatballs were hard (burnt) The ONE good plate was the kid s salmon with mashed potatoes! When our server never came back after delivering our order, we went to find her surfing the internet in a cozy booth of her own. Such a poor experience here. It s unfortunate we can t support this neighborhood restaurant.

As a burger fan, I opted to get one of the two burgers that were on offer. Both looked great on the menu but the entire experience went downhill pretty quick. From an atmosphere perspective, the menu was extremely dirty, as was the table. Anything put on the table stuck to it. The walls were bare to a point where the ghost like stains of the previous artwork that had been clearly taken town had left an eerie feel. I am unsure if this place had changed hands recently. The reviews previously were mostly great so I definitely was not expecting the contrasting experience I had with the place. Tried two items from the menu; the burger which got sent back as it was the worst burger Id ever tasted. The burger pattie seemed like it had been recently defrosted in the microwave and boiled before being placed in between the burger bun. The fries were marginally better in taste but the presentation was appalling as was the portion. For close to $20 for a burger and fries, there are 100 other places within a few miles that will run circles around this place. The salmon salad was OK but it was interesting that I was asked how well I wanted the fish to be cooked. Since it is fish, I didnt think there was an option. I said well done and the server instead said they would do medium well instead. This was uncomfortable in many ways. Amplified by the fact that the fish ended up being under cooked. If I wanted sushi, I would have gone elsewhere. In summary, I wont be dining here again. From my perspective, it would be better to forage for berries and at a push, lightly dust off and eat roadkill.

Overpriced, food was good, not great. Service was lacking. Workers are all dressed in very casual clothes, some in clothes I d only wear in my own house and weren t very welcoming or friendly. Our waiter took our order quickly and was kind but not very social. He didn t ask if we needed anything else after bringing our food, didn t do the usual checkin 5-10 minutes later to make sure everything was good and didn t ask if there was anything else we needed when bringing us some mayonnaise we asked for, just quick to drop it off and leave. The both times we needed something, once for the mayonnaise and once to remind him we were missing pita bread we asked for, we had to call out to him, it wasn t because he was checking on us. When we left no one said thank you for coming or come again. Just did not feel like an experience worth $103 dollars (3 entrees + 2 alc drinks (each $11)) i won t be returning or recommending it to anyone. I wish we went to Jack Allen s instead, they serve food that s worth the money and with larger portions.

Brunch reservation for 6 at 11am. We were seated but not waited on for 20 minutes. Coffee came after being there for 30 minutes. After 45 minutes, one guest s coffee never came and they still hadn t taken our order. We left the restaurant. I left $20 for 3 coffees. I have been a customer for years and was shocked to find the service so poor and SLOW. I had taken my family for this brunch and was so disappointed we had to leave.

We used to go to the satellite about twice a week prior to the pandemic, it was our neighborhood hangout. During Covid, we got take away food several times. The old wait staff, who we had for many years had moved on, and things never seemed to the same. Last night at about 7 o clock on a Tuesday, we went in the restaurant. After waiting at the hostess desk for about seven or eight minutes, never being recognized by either the bartender or the wait staff, we turned around and left. The restaurant was basically empty, although there were people sitting at the bar, and there were several people sitting outside at the tables. We saw the waitress look at us as she leaned against the wall by the kitchen door. We know the bartender saw us as we were 10 feet from him. No one even said just a minute someone we ll get you seated. It was a real disappointment. We also saw two waitresses as we walked by them, standing outside talking with a customer that they obviously knew. Based on the lack of acknowledgement on a night that wasn t busy, it was not a surprise to us that there were virtually no people sitting in the dining area. It s a disappointment to have a once really great restaurant go downhill in the service area.

Easy neighborhood restaurant with good relaxed food. I love the burgers, Texas redfish, and brussel sprouts. I eat the Harissa Power Bowl all the time. So good! Also they do half off bottles of wine on Wednesdays. I opted for the Satellite Delight cocktail in the pic.

We had the penne, which was excellent and I highly recommend, and the angus burger which was good. However the Saganaki was served twice to other guests in the restaurant and was the most offensive smelling food I ve ever encountered. Also had the steak & eggs ($25) ordered medium rare with eggs over easy, came out medium with eggs sunny side up. The steak itself was very mediocre. My wife and I went for dinner with another couple. It was a little earlier than normal for us at 5:30pm. Hostess greeting was polite and friendly and we were seated right away. Our server was cheerful and friendly and provided us with excellent service the entire time. My wife and I both had the prime rib with horseradish sauce, asparagus, and mashed potatoes, and both prepared the same way. I really dislike saying this but I have to, both entrees, the prime rib tasted like it was boiled in garlic water with large chunks of garlic pressed into parts of e steak. I have to admit this is probably the worst steak Ive ever had dinning out. The asparagus was simply okay, boiled or over steamed. We could only eat the tips. The loaded mashed potatoes were the best part of our dinner. Absolutely delicious, thick and creamy with bits of chives, bacon, and cheese. In contrast, most likely the best mashed potatoes Ive had in many years. Our friends had blackened Texas Red Fish. I tasted the Red Fish and it was grilled to perfection. Very flavorful. Appetizer was sauteed brussel sprouts with some sort of slightly sweet glaze which contrasted wonderfully with the grilled savory brussel sprouts. It was very good. For dessert we had the carrot cake and added a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. Traditional carrot cake with wonderful icing. Also had the house frozen margarita, traditional flavor with just enough tequila not to overpower the drink. It was will balanced. Between appetizers, entrees, and dessert we spent well over $200, roughly $50 bucks per person. Sorry, I was not impressed with much. If we go back itll be the Texas Red Fish for me and my wife wants to try a burger. If we ever go back that is. Our server was wonderful and she was rewarded for her excellent service.

We had so much fun at Satellite for brunch. The French Toast Sandwich is something you can t get anywhere else and it was so good! The bacon is great quality and they make it with honey and pepper which gives it such a special taste. Drinks were good and reasonably priced. Service (we had Joel as our server) was so fun, friendly, and attentive. Overall, a solid brunch experience. We ll be back!

December 2023: This time I ordered the Texas Redfish Tacos and sat at the bar. They were splendid and the fish had great flavor. These tacos were packed with ingredients with a big avocado slice. It was a great lunch item and enjoyed it very much January 2023: Satellite is on our regular restaurant rotation for lunch where the food and service has always been excellent. On this unusually warm winter day I ordered the Mighty Greek Gyro Salad. I recent seem to been ordering salads from restaurants so decided to try one of theirs. The menu stated its a choice of marinated chicken (I selected) or lamb, Greek dressed field greens, cucumber, picked red onions, black olives, pepperocinis, and other ingredients. My salad arrived and look very presentable with two large pea bread pieces slid a bit into the salad. The chicken was soft and had great flavor to my mouth. The mixture of the rest of the ingredients all went together and enjoyed this salad. What I most like about it was of all the salads I recently had this one was much different and placed into a deluxe category in my book. I enjoyed it very much. 3 months ago: Texas Redfish Tacos I arrived at Satellite ATX right when they opened for the day and was their first customer. We sat on the outdoor patio and browsed the lunch menu. I routinely come here and enjoy what is offer and the food taste very good. I ordered the Texas Redfish Tacos for lunch. This is nice relaxing hangout and enjoy being so close to home. The tacos were nice and tasty which had great ingredients. It included fresh seared Gulf Redfish topped with mixed cabbage and pepper & onions wrapped in a corn tortilla. A side of string beans completed the plate. The fish tacos had a great flavor and complimented with the cabbage. I had a great lunch and enjoyed the atmosphere of this place.

My husband and I have been going to Satellite for 18 years, even the Oak Hill location. I consider myself a foodie. The food was excellent! We have continued to eat out thru the pandemic and appreciated the neighborhood location. However, todays visit was the off the charts. Without an emphasis on hearty or interesting food it seems to be a social hub. It is in the middle of an upper middle class neighborhood, and they serve alcohol. I really enjoyed it when the bartender started cussing out the server right in front of all the bar guests because someone ordered to go but decided to wait at the bar for their food. That was top notch. And I quote I will just walk out and then y all can make your own effing drinks. And another server asked about wine and the bartender said they have never tried any of the wine so the bar patrons took it upon themselves and helped her. It was weird.

Id avoid if you want to talk to each other, very loud. Some guy with a dark beard, drinking a beer, was overly load while he was standing behind me talking to the neighboring table the entire duration of my meal! Couldnt hear the wife because of him. He was some kind of employee, because he walking into the kitchen, then walked behind the hostess podium, then came back behind me again! Food is overpriced for what you get, but its good.

Prices were fairly cheap, and the food and drink quality both reflected this. Overall not likely to come again -- there are just too many amazing restaurants in Austin that it doesnt make sense to dine somewhere subpar.

Caesar salad, the meatloaf and coffee. Coffee came out a little cold but I dont mind cold coffee, cream was plentiful but had to ask for more sugar. Never cared for fake sweeteners. Meat loaf and Caesar salad were tasty and plentiful. Tasted even better the day after but I also found a small piece of bone in the chicken that was added to the Caeser salad. Have your cook be a little more touchy feely with the chicken breast before cooking it. No big for me but imagine if a Chad or Karen had gotten ahold of this? Major drama. Over all, still not a bad place to munch. Oh yeah, no bread with dinner. Bring some rolls!

Food wasnt what I was expecting. Ive eaten here before and it was great but this time it was off. Main issue was the salad I ordered was missing ingredients, wrong dressing and feels like they put a small salad in a large box and called that large. Plant based burger could have used a bit more seasoning and was a little burnt. Fries were soggy and didnt taste fresh. The texted me that my order was ready yet when I got there had to wait 15 more minutes.

Very disappointed, made a reservation for my wifes birthday, even called ahead to check on patio seating for the puppers. Got a table on the patio and waters... then ghosted for a half an hour. Showed up prior to happy hour and waited until well after it ended, maybe they didnt want us joining their happy hour? Even after checking with the host stand all the while being.. orbited by no less than three different servers apparently none of whom were assigned to our table. Would love to post pics, but we received nothing. Ended up just leaving after being ignored for so long.

We had the Nashville chicken sandwich. It came with a side. My husband had the sweet potato waffle fries and I had a side salad. The chicken was mildly spicy. I didnt think it was as spicy as the other Nashville chicken sandwiches that Ive had. All of the breading on my chicken came off. The sandwiches were very big and the side salad was a generous portion.

Delicious queso and wagyu burger. Carrot cake was great (not quite as good as my Aunt Marys ). The GM was the only one working besides kitchen staff and was busting his hump bringing out all the food and bussing tables. He did a phenomenal job, and our party of 7 lacked for nothing. I actually like the concept of scanning and ordering from the table and creating a tab. Also helpful when youre short-staffed.

Attended a networking event here. They shut down the restaurant for our group! So kind. I had bowl that had these amazing sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts, quinoa and it was delicious. The sauce was great. I event sat on the patio and worked out there after the event. The general manager was so kind an refilled my own water bottle! Just had the ahi tuna appetizer. So good, and just the right amount of kick. Fish tacos were also superb. Even the black beans stood out. My son loved the kids chicken and fries, and my wife loved her chicken lettuce wraps. Her frozen marg looked excellent even to me, and Im not a frozen drinks kind of guy. She said it was excellent. Great place for dining in or takeout. Well be back soon!

We felt skeptical going in, but had a great experience. The kids salmon meal was delicious (my 2 year old shared) and a great value. Drinks were pricy but delish. We were worried the Brussels sprouts would be saccharine but were well cooked and seasoned. Same could be said for everything else we ordered. One thing that we and the table behind us commented on was how refreshing it was to have a waiter who had such a great attitude.
