Can you give zero stars for service? Plenty of waitstaff so that isnt the problem. Im always considerate when I see a shortage even reflect that in my tip. But Ive been here a few times and its pretty much the same except upstairs. They are pretty attentive upstairs. It is downstairs or at the bar if you are sitting there to eat, drink, and listen to great music. Oh well.

Its one of those places where at first youre unsure whether you should trust the online reviews. As European tourists, we thought long and hard about whether we were in the right place before entering. In the end we didnt regret it! The location is definitely special and authentic. And if you dont like loud, very good music, you shouldnt come here anyway. But the food & service was really excellent and it was a very successful experience.

Came in at 10:30p on a Wednesday. We were told immediately that the kitchen was closing in half an hour (advertised as closing at 12a). When we sat sown we all ordered waters and a dr pepper and it took 10 min. before he finally got us that. Then when we ordered our food and it came out we were not given napkins. Then we had to go to the bar ourselves to get refills. When the manager noticed he came and asked if we needed anything and we said yeah our drinks refilled and instead of refilling our drinks himself he said he would find our waiter. Then 5 min later he finally came over and asked what we needed and we said like 3 dr peppers because you haven t refilled ours. He then refilled the one and brought another 2 and said the third one was on the house ?? By that point we were ready to leave and when we finally flagged him down to get us our ticket we noticed he had charged us for 3 dr peppers! Two of us had water and only one person was drinking the dr peppers?! Then when the $75 ticket came we tipped $5 because of the terrible service and he chased us down after we left to tell us there was a required 15% gratuity and said we would have to change our tip. UNBELIEVABLE. Wish i could give it less than one star.

Friendly bartenders and servers. Weve tried the chips with queso, a couple of tortas, and several different items for dinner. Everything has been tasty and has not disappointed us. Great entertainment, I just wish it was a little bigger with more seating downstairs. I love the outdoor seating and upstairs atmosphere.

Weakest and smallest drinks ever! Margaritas are hugely watered down and it s the smallest 8 oz cup then I ordered a torta with picadillo and I swear there was little to none. It was mainly just stuffed with coleslaw and refried beans. For $13 you d think it was be decent. Very surprised at the high reviews at this place. Only thing good was the atmosphere and music. But every table was wobbly and breaking and our waitress kept hold the stray cats roaming around. Would not be returning.

This place is the ideal getaway if you love great food, wonderful parking, and talented live music. I mean this place has it all. Plus the bar drinks....omg absolutely fabulous. You have got to try their micheladas, I promise you wont be disappointed. It has a spicy kick to it that just delivers a robust taste. It is how a michelada is supposed to taste. Plus the margarita selection( I was like wow), they have it where you can add flavors. Similar to how you would pick a raspa. Then the food (ppl lease) the arroz plus frijoles is like how abuela used to make. The service was great , and parking too. 5 stars!!!!!

This place has really gone downhill in the last year. Service is really slow and staff dont come back in timely fashions. I would honestly prefer they do bar/counter service instead. I found my waiters fake eyelashes in my taco at one point and the live band was good but far too loud. I couldnt hear the people sitting right next to me. That being said, the food is good, I just wish it wasnt served on a bunch of styrofoam. For the prices theyre charging I expect real dishware or, at the very least, compostable plates and real silverware. Do better, yall!

I like the chicken tinga nachos. Nom, Nom,Nom! Lol. I don t drink to recommend libations but I can say that the nachos are delicious. I dislike how they have their sections set up and sitting up top of the building enjoying the view and weather, phsss . You give one for the other. The service is the worst, not that they are short hand may be confusion on who takes what table and who waits on the other table .!?!! . Try it out, I do still recommend this place. Oh, 98% of the seating is outside, this is kid friendly but no play area, a vegetarian plate here or there and prices $$ for one. I have noticed a decline in the quality of service at this restaurant. In the past, I had consistently enjoyed excellent food, ambiance, and attentive service. However, during my most recent visits, the bartenders and servers have exhibited a markedly unfriendly demeanor. Upon arrival, I have been met with a dismissive tone, being told to take a seat and wait for someone to attend to me, without even allowing me to order a drink at the bar while I wait. While I understand that busy periods can be challenging, the subpar service has been experienced on slow days as well, leaving us disappointed.

Starting off positive, the food tasted great. But the portions werent as big as the price. And at these prices, being served with small plastic cups and styrofoam like were on the side of the road sitting next to a food truck in a restaurant is odd. I asked to sit upstairs away from the live music so I could talk to my date, but shouldve just sat in front of a speaker because the table up there full of over served drunks yelling in each others faces kept us from doing any talking. Our server was obviously new, and I understand we all learn sometime, but why on a Friday night? We spent more time waiting for our drinks and order and then to pay for the meal than we did eating it. Were werent the only table waiting, there was 3 others, and one actually took off to go sit downstairs. We let the young women know we were ready to check out and she said ok and staired at the cashier screen for 15 min until the other waitress helping her came along and we asked her to close out our tab. We were curious about the vegan options, and like I said, what we did have was good. But as for the rest, we also found out and I think were good. Gotta try everything at least once.

I feel like this place could really be great, and Im hoping my experience was a one-off moment... got there, and it was freezing inside and only one person on staff besides the cooks. A random lady customer from the bar tried to take our orders? I waited instead for my server, who was also the bartender. Needless to say, the service was really slow, and orders were wrong. Vegan menu options werent available - hot beverages were served lukewarm in plastic cups. It took over 25 min just to cash out because our server was in the kitchen on her phone. It was my kids birthday and the one place he wanted to go had a long wait, so he opted for this place. I had hesitated coming here because it looked like a double decker dive bar. We had to park in a parking lot way from the Taco Bell, because they will tow your car if you park there, which is crazy because it is right behind the restaurant. I appreciate the cook who was outside smoking weed telling us exactly where to park. (You could see the joint he was smoking and smell it as you walked by.) We walked in and seated ourselves. There is one row of tables on the left hand side or you can sit at the bar. The food menu is limited to tacos, tortas, quesadillas, and queso. From the looks of the staff, it looked to be a punk rock/rockabilly Mexican food place. It was an interesting combination. The service was on point. The guy who took our order was very attentive. The Beto queso was amazing. I had hoped to have a tad bit more chips with it. The tacos were street tacos and were tiny. You could eat a whole taco with one bite if you wanted. I thought it was a tad bit over priced at $15 for 5 little mini tacos, rice and beans. The quality of the food made up for it as all plates were amazing. We did order a margarita, which the brought out in the same cups they used for water. It almost looked like a kids cup. Overall, it was a good experience and an interesting spot that I had never been to.

Update: January barbacoa special is excellent. Get it!!! If I could give Sanchos 10 stars, it still wouldn t be enough. The croquetas de camaron are the single best piece of food in San Antonio. The pollo tinga is heavenly, with extra spices, lots of garlic, smoky peppers, and charred edges for incredible depth. We have tried nearly everything on the menu, and only the carnitas were just ok. They were good, but there are better carnitas in the city. On top of the food, the house margarita is superb. It s boozy, and has none of that terrible toilet freshener flavor that most mix margaritas have. It s tart and limey. Lastly, the service is extra friendly. The waitstaff are mostly adorable tattooed rockabilly chicks, and Erin the bartender is tops. Hands down, the best establishment in San Antonio. A local gem. Please don t come here, so we can keep it to ourselves.

I hate leaving bad reviews, especially when the staff are nice (as my server was). But when we saw the tacos, all I could think was what are these, tacos for ants?? The tortillas (of which we ordered extra on the side) are comically tiny. The (vegetarian) nachos were also underwhelming, to say the least. (This picture was taken after a few bites, to be fair. Only four nachos had anything on them at the start.) We were the only people there, so its not like they were busy. I feel so ripped off, especially given how expensive the tacos were.

Felt like I was back at tios house drinking beer and eating tacos! iykyk. I lost something and they helped be calmly and professionally figure out where it was. Turns out I was a dummy. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a beer and some good tacos.

The food was tasty, beans were cooked but hard, rice was not rinsed well, and they lacked savory with excess of comino spice. Tacos are excellent and flavored. Carnitas tacos arent carnitas, but carne de puerco deshebrada. Cups are plastic as well as utensils. Atmosphere is chicos banda. Staff is courteous and welcoming.

DO NO COME HERE!! Make sure you get your CARD BACK from the waitress!!! She told me she was going to keep mine on file forgets to give it to me. Now all of a sudden Im getting money taken our from some apple pay account... nobody had access to my card information but the lady who took my order. SMH

The margarita was good, but the service was absolutely horrible. Was at the place with no customers for over an hour got one cup of water because the waitress never showed her face aside to bring us drinks and the food. It took her 15 minutes after she brought me the ticket to come get the ticket. Had a bad attitude and the food was WAY OVERPRICED for the quality and quantity to get. This is definitely a hipster spot that s going to tax you on everything.

I loved the atmosphere and the live music. Service was not welcoming. Typically, theres a welcome. Would you like a drink? and after some time, we get asked if we would like something else or so, but it wasnt the case here, and it felt as if they didnt want to service us at all. After we are finally helped, we get our drinks, and we are having a good time, we want to have another cocktail and another queso plate, but the waitress takes our menu away and never asks if we want anything else, felt as if she wanted us to leave. Im a generous tipper, but after that service, just the required minimum... we will give it another try since its a nice little spot, we hope to get better service next time

Tacos are very good despite being more hipster. I think it is better than authentic tacos lol! The margartitas are the bomb; i just wish they serve it in bigger container rather than a tiny snowcone cup. The location seems a bit sketchy but i think it was alright and my brand new truck didnt get smashed.

First time at this establishment. Everything was fine until our party left and one of the waitstaff members chased us outside after we had left and were already in our vehicles to question the amount of tip that was left. Theres no argument that gratuity is subject to the consumers discretion . If the consumer does not tip well then I agree that it can be viewed as rude or inappropriate. However it is more rude and definitely more inappropriate for the waitstaff to confront their patrons on their tip discretion.

The service was good but after we paid our bill the waitress came chasing out after we were driving out to ask us if we meant to leave the tip we left. She literally was asking us for more tip money. We don t have to leave a tip if choose not to. I think it was so rude and unprofessional. I don t think we will be going back there again. It was our first time there and our last!!!

Just by telling you that the waitresses tip her the same, she herself asked for the card supposedly to open an account and it is for herself to carry out the transaction, I left her a tip in cash and even so I charged more money to the account, terrible service
