This is the best spot to fish in Austin! Home to the end of the trail and sit on the tree roots casting towards the west side! Is your feeling adventurous go across the small bridge to towards the dam and cast from there. 10/10

Be prepared to have your car broken into. Went here to take my dog on a walk, 30 minutes later, my car window was shattered. There was glass all over the parking lot from other vehicles who also got broken into from the past. While we were there, there was also another car break in attempt but was unsuccessful. There was the evidence though. Also do not take your dog here. There have been reports of blue green algae at red bud isle which is toxic to dogs and can lead to death.

Its a cool little place to visit for a fishing, dog walking or a short hike. You can even throw a kayak in the water here to visit the more peaceful side of the lake. My only complaint is the parking lot is very small. Dog-friendliness: This park is popular with dog walkers, youre likely to find some furry friends, they cant run too far because its a narrow island. Just be mindful of the algae situation if your dog likes to swim.

The entire family loved this park. It was great for hiking, fishing, and nature watching. We loved taking photos of the wildflowers along the bank. There were people with friendly dogs hiking and enjoying the trails, it was so nice to greet all of them as they came by to say hello. Many people were paddle boarding and floating on the water. It was a really nice park. We will return and try paddle boarding or canoeing here.

I absolutely love this park. The twisted cypress roots nestled against the banks of the water is just so serene and beautiful. I havent gone into the water on a paddle board or anything yet, but some other hikers there told me theres a rope swing and other fun stuff to do floating down the water. This is a pup friendly park! And please please DONT LEAVE TRASH ON THE GROUND, THERE ARE BINS FOR A REASON! Dont be that person who litters up a gorgeous park.

One of the most magical outdoor areas in Austin and definitely a plus if youre a dog lover! Red Bud isle is perfectly positioned between the dam and the upper end of Town Lake. You can even launched a little raft or a kayak here or enjoy a walk along the shoreline. Parking is very easy and convenient. You will definitely meet a lot of cool locals here that just need a little escape from the City. Lots of shoreline areas because it is a Island but a lot of town like you cant get right next to the shore like you cant here. Its also a little bit more out of the way and less known by tourists. Its also really nice that there are so many cool restaurants next door for your Tex-Mex needs.... And my favorite is always Hula Hut

Loved visiting here. Not as crowded as the Zilker/Downtown area and has relaxed atmosphere. No waiting forever to find parking. When I went, the fall was at its peak and sun was shining just right to make those fall colors pop. Do go all the way to the end of the walking trail to see the beautiful tree. Overall, not a must if visiting Austin but if you are local or visit often, a nice place to visit. Dog-friendliness: I saw many dogs around.

Beautiful park. Cons: One thing to note if you are planning on bringing your dog - most people arent following the dog on/off leash rules, dogs are running around everywhere. If your dog doesnt like being approached by random dogs or is skiddish, this might not be the best place. limited parking. You may have to wait 10 minutes for a spot to open up. There is a little dirt lot across the street, but that holds maybe 6 cars. Pros: if you want to be surrounded by dogs, there are a lot here. there are a lot of benches with beautiful scenery. there are also multiple easy to use water access areas for paddleboarding and kayaking. Dog-friendliness: Dog safe environment and most owners pick up after their pups. There are supposed to be on & off leash areas but those dont seem to be followed by most.

We were tucked away in a little spot of the park, but it was very pleasant and beautiful in the shade. It was nice and quiet to enjoy the Jazz playing on our phone. Shade was needed on this very hot day. Glad we always have chairs in our trunk for this last-minute decision to explore during a brief visit from San Antonio. You would never know that other nearby parts of the water were absolutely packed with boats and boards, and that there was a neverending line to park. It was a Holiday weekend. Will definitely return and explore more of the park on another visit.

My partner took the Oru Kayak out for a spin and there were a few friendly launching spots for kayaks and paddle boards. I put down one of those camping floors and just relaxed with my audio book. Plenty of shading, friendly folks, dogs love the trails (as did I) and the only tip I have for visitors is to trust the hourly traffic details on Google maps - we got there about 30 mins before all the spots filled on a Sunday. There were plenty of cars waiting for others to leave.
