We ordered a handful of appetizers to go for a movie night. We d heard nice things about HPH so we were very unfortunately surprised by the lackluster quality of every item that actually made it to us our order included items which we didn t receive, but thankfully got refunded fairly easily. I m very disappointed we chose HPH for the only movie night we d get with these long distance friends, as the mozzarella logs were kind of shapeless piles of cheese and pieces of breading. Potato skins and pretzels were okay. The fried pickles were a bit disappointing. For the prices I expected better, but at least now we know to avoid. Edit and now I m horrified to learn they had a rat and roach infestation and closed days after my order. Thank GOD this place closed down. I m sorry but if you have rats and roaches, temporarily shut down and solve the problem. Stop serving people food made in DISGUSTING environments. I am so glad to hear of the permanent closure, with the owner(s) prioritizing profits over integrity and food safety, they are unfit to run an establishment like this. Ugh!

(UPDATE) The place has gone downhill. My last couple visits were disappointing with a reduced menu and seemingly lower quality ingredients This is legitimately the best restaurant in Wichita Falls bar none. It s a New American fare joint whose service is great, ingredients are excellent quality, execution is on point, serving sizes are generous, and prices are reasonable. They elevate classics without trying to perform nonsense stunt food. I ve eaten at many restaurants of its kind during my travels around the US and this one is hands-down the best I ve come across.

Mid day (2ish) on a Wednesday - perfect service, amazing food! 1st time here and our group will definitely be back! Chicken & Waffles is definitely recommended but come hungry as its a lot to eat for one person! Highlander pie is amazing and again more than enough! The bacon and egg burger with fries also recommended! Our waitress, Tiffany C, was amazing and very attentive. If you are in the area, we definitely recommend!

Whew chile,the food was not good at all. I ordered the fried green tomatoes and by no means do I suggest ordering them. They were not seasoned and the coating did not stay on. Very disappointed . I ordered a burger, because no one can mess up a burger. Well, go to Highlander they will. Absolute worst burger I have ever had! I also had the fried pickles. Yuck yuck yuck! I wont be back. It seems as if their food and service have gone down.

We have ate here several times in the past month and a half the service is terrible it was bad the last three times weve been in there that being said the food is mediocre at best I think that three pieces of bacon on a BLT with bread thats as thick as there is you cant even taste the bacon weve ordered shepherds pie several times and its been cold you can heat that up you know it had been a year and a half since the last time we had been in there before we started going back because the food was not very good you would get cold food I dont know whats going on with this place it would be great it was great when it first started but I dont know whats happened to it

Havent been to Highlander in a few years and I wish Id been back sooner. 1st of all our server MiMi was OUTSTANDING. Our tea was always full and she checked on us several times but not to much to be Interruptive of our meal. There was 4 in our party and everyones meals were 5 star. The cheese log appetizer was by far the best ive had in Texas!!! My wife had the chicken fried chicken. I did try it and it was tender and incredibly juicy. Its not the standard chicken fried but rather deep fried breast and was simply amazing. I had the fish and chips and they were absolutely incredible. The tarter sauce was insanely good. The other 2 in our group had the porkchops with the Guinness gravy. They also had the fried Brussel sprouts and they were fantastic. The price we paid for dinner was more than reasonable...... and they also offer a military discount on the Veterans meal which was a nice gesture and much appreciated. All in all it was an amazing experience and we WILL be back again in the near future. I definitely recommend folks give them a visit.

This was a disaster. The first thing that happened was the waitress dropped the drink tray pouring ice cold water down my back and breaking glasses on the floor behind me. It took a long time to get that all cleaned up and my chair dried out. She kept apologizing and I kept telling her it was ok. It was just an accident and not to worry, but she kept on apologizing to the point that it became awkward for me to keep telling her it was ok. Unfortunately, my clothes were still not dry for hours. Next, there was no food delivered to our table for well over an hour. The waitress said they were waiting on one more piece of fish. When the food finally came out, I didn t get anything. After waiting until everyone else at our table was almost through eating, the waitress finally came back and informed me they didn t have what I ordered. Seriously? It took an hour and a half to figure that out? She said she had called the owner and was waiting on a response from him but did I want something else in the meantime. After another wait, the owner apparently arrived and sent the waitress back to our table to tell us that my husband and I wouldn t have to pay for our meal. What meal? The others at the table were given a 15% discount on their meals as well. Why didn t the owner come to our table himself instead of sending the poor waitress back to apologize for the millionth time? I might add that there was only one other table occupied at the restaurant so not exactly rush hour. There was no excuse for the lack of food or service and we will certainly never go back.

I knew this place was here as I drove by it every day going to my office, but I had never stopped to go in until last weekend. I thought it was amazing. The staff were awesome! For me just going in the place was pretty relaxing. The only thing that I found that wasnt 100% great was I wanted the Highlander pie but it wasnt available at 12:30, but the brunch menu. So, I got the big burrito. The only bass about it was the tortilla was really thick. So, I just ate everything inside andu that was very good!

Our group met there at 1 P M. We reserved the patio as we had service and therapy dogs with us. The temperature was over 100 degrees F in the sun. The wait staff was courteous and let us know that they were short staffed. After 45 minutes, we asked about our orders. The section manager informed us it would be out shortly and be hot. 10 minutes later, another manager came out and started accusing the people in the group of yelling at the wait staff. All said and done, the food was colder than the outside, and was served 1:15 later. The 1st was very apologetic and covered the entire groups ticket.

Came here for the first time today and it was such a great experience! The food was delicious and the service was incredible. Our appetizer was a little late coming out and the waiter discounted it for us without us having to say anything. We weren t going to anyway we were in no rush but they really care about the customer experience. 2024: Compared to 3 years ago, the food and service are the same. The interior is a DISASTER. Theres an odor. The bar is now dark and the dining room is too bright. It used to have a good vibe, but is just depressing. We wont go back. 2021: Fantastic fare and fun cocktails. My only issue is the service. We came on a Saturday around 12:30. Not many there when we arrived but steadily streamed in. Long story short. We finally received our meal ate it (quickly) and left at 2:00. The food was ok but I don t feel it was worth the price. I m giving 3 stars for service only because the staff were so great or I would have to give it a 1 star. It just took forever. We waited over an hour for our food. Two tables up and left as they were tired of the wait, they had been there over an hour waiting for their food as well. The bathrooms were terrible too. Not sure we will be back.

This was our first time here! We had a great time. The building is cool and has a historic feel to it. I ordered the bacon and egg burger. I was very pleased with my meal. Most places I go and get the egg on the burger they never get the yoke right. This is the first place in a long time that has gotten the egg right! Also, the fries were great! Came for a birthday dinner. If you like slow service, this is the place to come! We had a party of 6... 4 adults 2 kids (nothing crazy). And to add, there were only ... maybe 4 other tables. Once we were able to order Appitizers and food, the food came out quick. Waitress accedinatlly gave us sweet tea (no big deal) except my husband walked around the restaurant to find a server (none to be found, not even a host) then minutes later my mom walked around to finally find someone to ask if we could get Unsweetened tea. The appetizers were delicious, chicken and waffles DELICIOUS, sirloin special the steak was so tough (I dont even think we ate 1/3 of it) and the dessert (one that they actually had for the day) was good. I hate giving a bad review but so much potential going down the drain at this restaurant. The menu states if you have an issue to let them know, and I sure wish I could have done that, but we all thought if we complained, our server would never come back. Takeaways- the food is good. The service is horrible. If you have a menu, make sure you have the food listed (especially if you have a special!) Guess we should have known what type of service we were going to receive when you call to ask if you need a reservation and the person on the line laughs and says they will be dead on a Thursday.

Daughter ordered the Catfish Special for $18. Nice portion but fish was undercooked. My daughter had eaten 3 bites of the fish but couldnt do more. Sent it back and the returned the plate with just one piece of fish. We asked why and they said because the other piece was touched they could only give the one or charge for another dinner. I told them that when the order is wrong, it is good service and customary to replace the order. The manager refused to and refused to give her name or the General Managers name. She preferred to argue with me in the dining room. Her inexperience shows by the fact that even if they are running a high 30% cost of goods it would have been cheaper to give the piece of fish than to give an $8 discount and lose a customer. Not to mention the impact the interaction had on other people in the restaurant.

Update on my review: My wife and I have dined here several times - alone, with friends, family and colleagues. And it has been one of our favourites in town. However, the two last times has been substandard on the food. I recently ordered the Jalapeño Chicken. The mashed and gravy was alright - but the chicken was a tough, hard to slice, piece of chicken, that on top of that, also really had no flavour. No joy eating that. My wife ordered the chicken steak - and simply just had to leave it all behind after one bite. At our visit before the recent visit, we both ordered the Highlander Pie. It is usually a very nice experience. But that day both pies came out cool in the Center. And it just did not taste fresh - as if it just been reheated in the microwave instead of in the Owen. It seems as if the quality control of the Highlander is missing for the time being. Unfortunately. Earlier review: My wife and I have dined here several times. Along with friends and family. They have a nice selection of food, cocktails, beer, wine and soft drinks. I especially like the smoked Old Fashioned. For food I normally go for a burger - or the fish and chips. Great place to dine and have a good time with friends and family.

I don t know if we came on an off night, but the food was pretty ehh especially for the price. The atmosphere is extremely cute with all the highland cow paintings and decor! The staff was friendly, kitchen was a little slow but that s not a big deal. The sweet tea was excellent and the bar drinks were pretty good. However, the food looked good but had absolutely zero flavor. My fiancé got the chicken fried steak and I got the chicken fried chicken. The steak was tough and chewy, mine was on the dry side. The gravy was a white sauce and had no flavor or seasoning in it. The mashed potatoes were clumpy and cold. The green beans were fine. We ordered a side of their world famous mac n cheese and it was also bland and not good. The banana pudding was good, the flourless chocolate cake was different, and the funnel cake was so hard and crunchy I made a complaint. For the price we paid vs. the food we got, we left extremely disappointed. I had high hopes but reality fell short.

We came in for lunch and the place was not that busy. We waited 15 minutes to be sat down, another 15 to get out drinks. We ordered our food and sat there for an hour and nothing. Waitress didnt check in with us but once, finally got the manager and after questioning them they just walked away and didnt give us any answers. Poor service and very slow. We walked out without getting any food so cant say anything on how the food tastes.

The restaurant was nice. Nobody came to the door when we walked in so we went to the bar. Our waiter was nice but didn t check on us and it was a very slow day. The food was cold and felt/tasted like it was heated up in the microwave or sitting all day. I would never recommend this place or eat here again. We spent $100 on 3 plates of food that none of us ate because it was nasty. To add to my review we all got food poisoning!

My wife and I went there yesterday for late lunch, about 2pm. Theresa was the only staff visible, and she was hanging out in the bar. I stepped into the bar area, she saw us, seated us. There were 2 other tables occupied in dining area, at least one guy in the bar. We sat there about 10 minutes before she took our order. Then back to the bar she went. FORTY MINUTES later she appeared again, bringing our barely warm burger and blt. Then poof, she was gone again. We both ran out of drinks, she was no where to be found. I guess shes crushing hard on the guy in the bar...idk. She brought our check, and I asked why a convenience fee for cash? She said shed remove it. Theresa took the check, took off the fee, then added it back to the check. I hope she enjoys the fee, thats all the tip I gave her. Usually good service and food... but Theresas mind was elsewhere.

The absolutely best restaurant pub in town. With two 5 star chefs creating delicious and colorful meals, you just cant go wrong. I had the stuffed chicken, roasted potatoes, and vegetables, and I added a dinner salad... needless to say, I was not disappointed. Every plate served to our table looked just like the pictures, with not one item out of place! This restaurant is our new favorite place to eat. The hostess who sat us was great, as was the server, but the food was just gross. The table was dirty when we came in, all the servers were doing nothing in the kitchen, the only good part about this experience was the kindness they showed. The potatoes weren t seasoned, the gravy was too salty, and the green beans tasted straight out the can with bacon bits. Let the record show I m normally okay with that, but this was just plain nasty. The mozzarella logs were okay though.

It took forever to get our beer order. He said it was because there was too much air in the lines. Some of the beer was warm. We had appetizers, which were average. I had to go to the bathroom so I get up from the bar area and notice we are the only people in the building except for the employees that were on there phones and the female employee was drinking what looked like a martini. She was talking loudly to someone about how they were treating their animals. The floor was very sticky in places on the way to the bathroom and the girls bathroom was down right disgusting! The trash can had trash coming out of it all over the floor, the toilet seat had something on it that didn t belong there, the mirror was so dirty I couldn t see myself And there was no toilet paper. Not a bad place to eat. The waiter was a bit slow, but friendly. The atmosphere is fun. Chairs are a bit wobbly. Food was good. Fries were crispy and hot. The fish and chips had good flavor. The max and cheese was a fun smoky flavor. The Highlander Pie was a good amount of food, and tasty but needed a bit more salt. The Cheese Logs were huge. They tasted good, but it s hard to eat that big a mouthful of cheese. All in all, good place to go for dinner or lunch.

Passing through town, we were looking for a place with good food. Read reviews before going! My wife s CHICKEN Alfredo tasted terrible. Like FISH mixed with chemicals. Cheese on my kids pasta wasn t even close to melted. Food overall is bland and needs a rebuilt menu. Bathroom remodel look like they went with the lowest bid. No trash bags and not clean. Self serving means you must grab your drinks, utensils, napkins, menus, and you must go to the front to order..and food coming out in to go containers. Was a shocker. We have always LOVED the Highlander, the food is great and the service awesome! We took our family last night and was shocked at the new layout. The food is still amazing quality and the menu hasnt changed, so thats good! But when my husband and I go to the Highlander, we go for a nice sit down dinner experience! Last night we had to order at a counter, like we were at Chuck-e-Cheese, serve our own soda/tea/water and get a number like a lunch deli. On top of all that, it still cost us $100+ for our family (the same cost we paid for sit down service 2 months ago), and we were charged a now standard service fee... For what service I wonder? For running the food to our table? Plus the food was served on plastic plates and plastic to-go containers with plastic utensils. The food is still amazing and I know the staff is trying to adjust. We will be back for the food, but seriously SO DISAPPOINTED with the shift in atmosphere!

First visit back since the remodel. Very disappointed. The food seems to be the same but now there is no table service and they serve your food in either a box or plastic dish. It makes no sense, serving big portion of thick chicken with tiny plastic forks and knives. The staff seemed almost embarrassed to tell us we had to seat ourselves and get our own drinks and paper napkins on our way. Prices are still the same, but its way too high for having to eat with plastic.

Front end staff was not helpful for explaining concept change, and waited over 30+ minutes for a beer ordered as soon as I came in. I finished my meal while front end staff continuously watched and saw I never received my drink. They also checked the satisfaction of every table except mine and gave attitude when I asked for a refund of my drink, which they only started pouring after I finished my meal. Thankfully the manager was able to promptly process my refund.

I will say this tho, the patio was very dirty and very junked up with old furniture and chairs not being used. It could be such a GREAT space if it were cleaned up and clean out. On my way to Tulsa Ok. and was passing through decided to google a place to eat, this placed was on the list, and the pictures of the food was good enough to convince me to try it, worst idea ever place was disgusting, the table were not clean, the bench i sat on had crumbs all over, the place looks like it hasn t been swept in months, the bathroom (where do i start) first there was no soap, trash can was full, paper towels all over the floor and behind the toilet, floors and walls are dirty. The food was great! We had the pretzel with cheese. Also had the fish and chips, and the gals said they were delish! I had the chicken salad sandwich on Texas toast. The chicken needed more of the pecans and less of the mayo. Gals had old fashions and whiskey sours, and I had their version of a BlacknTan called a BluenTan made with Guinness and Blue Moon. My husband and I attempted to eat here on Labor Day. We called ahead to ensure they were open and were told they were. We arrived about 20 min later. There were 2 tables seated 4-5 tables covered with dirty plates, 2 other couples in line, and no staff in sight. The hostess/waitress came out about the same time as a young man. He attempted to yield to her to seat us and she said she was going to bus tables. She grabbed 2 plates and disappeared. He seated the couple ahead of us and then came back to apologize and to tell us that they would have to clean tables before the rest of us could be seated. He also disappeared. After waiting a few minutes more with no action in the dining room, my husband and I decided to leave. Clearly, they were understaffed... Perhaps the better option would have been for them to have closed.

I dont usually leave reviews but I had to in this case. In town for some training and this pub was recommended by the girl sitting at the front desk of my hotel. Awesome atmosphere and the food was fantastic! I had the Highlander Pie, forgive me if I got the name wrong, and it was so good I had to come back and try the fish and chips 2 days later. My bartender Will put it over the edge. Super friendly and kind, made me feel right at home, like Id been going there for years. Not sure when Ill be back this way but rest assured Ill be stopping in for some great food, a pint, and friendly service!!!

Our Wichita Falls Singles Going Dutch group ate here last night and the food and service was GREAT!!! I had the pork chops with Guinness gravy (my favorite) and as always they were huge and done just right. My Great Granddaughter (9 years old) had the child s burger and it was really big for a child s menu. We both took to-go boxes home. In town for business and visited this restaurant as a recommendation. So glad I did because they have a quality BLT, and a great staff! I came in while they were preparing for a busy night and all staff were courteous and welcoming despite being occupied with the prep. They have many mule options, and you may have to ask for the mule menu if you try them out, because it was not initially provided. Thankfully, that was included in my recommendation, or I would not have known to ask! I had the Tiki Mule but they have so many that are unique and looked delicious. I will have to go back to try the Green Tea Mule and others. I was fortunate, or this just may be their style, to have a strong mule, which was just how I like them! I did not feel like I was drinking juice haha! The bacon on the BLT was phenomenal, best I have had, and the side of fries was what I wish McDonalds fries taste like. They were addictive, so I had to take half my perfectly sized BLT to go.
