Food was delicious, my favorite was arroz con habichurelas, guisado de carne con papa, platanos maduros and tembleque. I also really enjoyed el jugo de maracuya. The decor and asthetic was great too. Clean and friendly. My friends really like the caldo de pollo they serve as well.

What a charming restaurant. We came from Corpus because our Puerto Rican restaurant closed down and we were needing our Puerto Rican food fix. This place did NOT disappoint!!! The lunch buffet was phenomenal with lots of options. The pernil was my favorite and it was so tender and juicy. I loved the inside. It was gorgeous. We will be back when we come back to San Antonio.

We live three and a half hours away, but I can tell you that when here in the Valley there was no place to eat Puerto Rican food, we headed to San Antonio, just with the desire to go eat some of our delicious food. Puerto Rican food and we were going to this place. The steak with onions, the Mogo, the white rice. The beans, the tostones, the pernil, the rice with pigeon peas, everything is delicious and to complete the flan.

This is one of my favorite Puerto Rican restaurants in the United States! I ve been coming here since I was a teenager and although the restaurant has gone through many changes, the level of service is still excellent and the food is delicious. They have live music on Fridays and Saturdays from 6-9pm. The Buffet is everyday from 11-3pm except Tuesdays when they re closed. Otherwise you can order from the regular menu. The ambience is pretty chill and they always have good music playing.

Before tonight, it had been some time since I d eaten here. I used to really love it, but something has changed. Their food is no longer the flavorful quality it used to be, and the service was abysmal. I will give them another try, but I definitely wasn t pleased tonight. I miss the way it used to be.

We have been coming to this place for over 15 years and it s always been great. I don t know what s happened the last couple of months but the service has been horrible. We come for the buffet and this place opens up at 11 am. The last couple of times we ve been here, they have been running super late and the buffet hasn t been ready until 11:30 or 12. Fridays are the only days they have fried fish on buffet but lately it s hit or miss if they have it. Last time we came here they were running late again and I asked one of the waitresses if the food was almost ready as it was 11:20 or so and we get an hour for lunch. Her response was for customers not to get there as soon as they open as they may be running late lol.

My husband and I were excited to find a Puerto Rican restaurant in San Antonio. We walked in and the murals on the wall were beautiful, I was excited to try the food. Then I noticed the loud reggaeton music, which is weird because the lunch buffet crowd were 30 year old adults and older. It killed the vibe that we expected. Puerto Rico has great music and they didn t take advantage of that The buffet itself was underwhelming, four different types of rice and only two types of protein available. The meat is behind a glass wall and you have to wait for someone to serve it to you. The woman servicing the buffet was not helpful when I asked her what different dishes were. Their regular menu seems to offer the food that you expect but their buffet is awful- no vegetables, no fruit, not enough variety to be considered worth it. Too bad this was a bust.

I have been wanting to try this place for a few years but would always forget about it. We decided to go last night and I loved it. I cant wait to to back. The food was absolutely delicious. I visited Puerto Rico a few years ago and Ive been craving mofongo ever since I left there. I ordered the mofongo and shrimp and it was so good!. The pina coladas and margaritas were nice and refreshing. They were playing live music and I really loved the atmosphere.

Ugh, Im so disappointed that I have to say that my last visit, may be my last the food did not have the quality and flavor that I had grown to expect from this restaurant. The lady serving the protein continually served my son the worst of the pernill and the driest of the fried fish. Some how the price had gone up. I hope things get better but it will be a while before I go back

Amazing. After having a wonderful experience during the holidays on the island, it was nice to find authentic Puerto Rican food in San Antonio of this high quality. La Marginal is not new, and I did visit years back, and it was good then, but they have made many changes that have only made it better. I got to try their buffet from 11 am to 3 pm on my birthday with my wife (closed on Tuesdays, FYI) and it was amazing. For a reasonable price you get a terrific variety, including chicken, pernil, rice and beans either yellow or white, maduros, and salad, yuca french fries, and dessert Coconut flan, or flan de queso. Other than the Yuca fries which are a take or leave for me, the pernil is super tender and cooked to perfection, the chicken is soft and juicy, and the rice and beans and maduros were perfect. After two buffet plates my wife and I were stuffed. Best meal we have had since the holidays in Puerto Rico. This will be our go to place for the holidays and special occasions in San Antonio this year and every year as long as they are around and the quality stays this high. Extra plus the atmosphere is really nice. You feel like you are in PR. So happy !!!

For appetizer, we ordered the cheese empanada, and it was a disappointment. They use Velveeta cheese, awful. The easier was very nice about it and brought us a beef one and it was better, not the best I had, but ok. My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich with tostones and it was good, again not the best Cuban sandwich but good and the tostones were cooked perfectly. I had the churrasco with chimichurri sauce, rice and sweet plantains and it was great! The beef was cooked too perfection and the chimichurri was delicious. We also had guava juice and coconut water. Overall it was good and well probably go back to try other dishes. The waiter was very nice and professional.

Not sure what it was, but the flank steak had a weird texture to it, as if the seasoning was soaked and spread onto the meat. Underneath, the meat was tender and good, I just couldnt get past the coating on it. The appetizers were amazing, and the sides as well. We will be back, but with a different entree, to give a fair shake.

I went for the first time with some co-workers. If you go here for lunch, get the buffet. The roasted pork and grilled chicken was out of this world!! I really liked the yellow rice and the fried plantains too. Also included in the buffet are two choices of beans, another choice of rice, salad and desserts. They seemed a little short staffed because some of the food would run out and it would not get replaced for 10 to 15 minutes. I watched as some of the workers would go from the buffet line, to the kitchen, to the cash register and then back to the buffet line. But, I will definitely return for some more of this wonderful Puerto Rican buffet!

Place is very beautiful. Lights were a little to dim for my taste and seems like they were short staff. But the food made up for everything. It is worth it. It is so good!!!! Will be coming back!!!

OHH-EMM-GEE!!! THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! I went and had the lunch buffet. The food was fresh and hot. They had fried yucca, pernil, arrow con gandules, and platanos. I left there very happy and very satisfied. The lunch buffet changes everyday and dinner starts at 4pm. Im from Jersey and this is the best PR food I have had in TX. Imm inviting all my friends!! Viva PR, la Isla del encanto!!!

This was the best tropical and Caribbean food place in the entire city!! Without a doubt none!! However, after the death of its former owner, it no longer reflects the same quality in its dishes! They even charge you for your smile! And the prices have skyrocketed!
