It s one of my favorite late night food spots.I usually do order pick up using their app and the food is always ready on time. Lots of varieties for tacos - so just roll the dice when choosing and you won t be disappointed. I enjoy the elote as a side.

100% of everything we ordered was wrong. We had special food requirements. All were selected on the online ordering system. Zero of them were made correctly which meant everything we ordered was inedible due to food and diet requirements. Only eat here if you have no changes to the listed menu. Otherwise your changes will go ignored and make it a waste of your time. We through it in the trash and went to Chipotle.

Our first time here and wow! Fresh food, great service, nice atmosphere vibe. The combo is the way to go for best price and side options. Price is very reasonable. I highly recommend the guac side for any combo. So good and great experience that I joined their rewards program (sounds good!). Danielle P was our server and patiently and passionately showed us our way through the menu. Thanks!

Fantasic food quality. All of the tacos were great. We loved the Honey Chipotle Chicken (weekly taco feature) and the red velvet cake. Everything was very well made. They got two things right that many places dont. 1) The avocados were at peak ripeness without being bad. I cant tell you how many places serve expired avocados and how hard it is to time those things right. 2) They didnt ask for a tip. This is fast food or fast casual, and many other places refuse to pay their staff. Not here. In a nutshell, they deliver a superior product at a fair price while actually paying their employees. This is a shot across the bow for every other taco place.

We went to Velvet Taco in Waco for the first time. The atmosphere was nice and clean with options to sit outside. We ordered the combo that comes with two tacos a side and a drink. Theres a variety of options of tacos and sides as well. The food was good but not great. We feel that it was a little over priced but wouldnt mind trying some of the other menu options again in the future.

We were so impressed with this place! They have a great selection of different tacos and the sides we had (elote, queso, guacamole) were all delicious! Do yourself a favor and order their combo meal. It s $12.95 and you get two decent sized (not the mini street taco size) tacos, pick whichever flavors you want, and then you get a drink and a side dish. The three of us shared the sides and we still didn t finish them all, and we are not light eaters. The side portions were enough to share. The ambiance was really cute, we ate outside. The painting of the woman eating cake inside was fantastic. We didn t try the red velvet cake, but it did look good! We will definitely be back when we are in town.

This place was incredibly from entry to exit. The young man at the counter understood that we were a bit lost with the menu and he helped us navigate it and gave his recommendations. Everything was good from the curry queso to the Korean fried rice taco. Way better than the other franchise out.

Velvet Taco in Waco, at 1021 S Jack Kultgen Expwy, is fantastic! I tried the #7 Cuban Pig taco featuring slow-roasted pulled pork, gruyere cheese, honey ham, peppered bacon, mustard aioli, house-brined pickles, and a crisp flour tortilla. The taco was amazing, though the pulled pork was a bit salty. The Fan Favorite #8 Korean Fried Rice taco was also incredible. It had slow-roasted pulled pork, gochujang egg fried rice, red chile aioli, pickled red onion, jalapenos, grilled pineapple, and cilantro on a flour tortilla. I could distinctly taste each ingredient, and it was delicious. Their Queso Blanco with chimichurri, Velvet Taco heat sauce, and cilantro was outstanding, especially when paired with the Classic Guac. The combination of avocado, cilantro, jalapeno, lime juice, and red onion was magical. I love queso and cant wait to try the red curry next time. Velvet Taco is a must-visit!

Drive thru lady was very helpful, kind, and patient with us trying to figure out what we wanted and the changes we asked for on the tacos, and our order of extra sides. Food was still hot and delicious when we arrived home 30 minutes later. This was our first time at this location. Food taste and staff was the same as Ft. Worth. We will be back. Just yummy!

I really liked the atmosphere and the painting at the back was gorgeous. Lots of outdoor seating. The tacos are very niche. I had a shrimp taco and it was really pretty, but the flavor wasnt there for me. Maybe if the shrimp had been grilled instead of breaded and fried. My husband had a smash burger taco and liked it. We had chips and queso. The chips are blue corn and really hard but still tested good. The queso was warm at best. Do have a piece of red velvet cake. This place is pretty pricey for what we ordered.

This is not my first time to be upset with this location, but this is my first time to complain. Today I placed an order through drive thru. I was told to pull around to the front and my order would be brought out to me. After 30 minutes of waiting, I walk in to find my order bagged and sitting off to the side with 3 workers standing around talking. I live less than 3 minutes from Velvet Taco. My tacos were COLD. Warmed them up and thebwialoty was severely diminished. I threw them away and went to get something else to eat. A waste of $37.12. It will be a very long time before I return to this location if ever. There are other great options in the area.

I really like the food here! It s mexican fusion, so there s some asian/american influence. It s very white washed so nothing too spicy lol. The service is very slow especially if you are in the drive thru. I gave up on that. Also, the cheese is not great, the queso is awful and the cheese on tacos can be very chewy so I wouldn t recommend it. Still this is one of my favorite places in waco!

Went there last night to pick up a DoorDash delivery and when I pulled up one of the female employees was giving me the hand across the neck motion like they were closed. I pulled up my phone to show her I was picking up an order and once again she motioned they were closed. I texted the customer to let her know they were closed and I left. Not even ten minutes later I received an order for the restaurant next door and I see there are customers in the lobby and in the drive thru at Velvet Taco. I asked a male employee who was outside if they were open and was told yes. I told him what just happened and he said there was a mishap but everything was fine now. I understand things happen that are out of your control but she should have given me more information so I could divulge that to the customer or told me to go around to the drive thru. Very frustrating and unacceptable.

Waited in the drive thru for 40 mins and finally became my turn just for them to send me inside. Fine, the manager reluctantly takes my order. Cooks make the food and finishes it and it sits waiting for someone to pack it up. Im waiting and literally watching my food sit there. Eventually I recieve it after maybe twenty minutes. This is a cozy, warm date night atmosphere. This place caters to all types of personalities. You can order online for table side (no interaction required). You can order at the counter (customer service is a better than chick fa le). You can also download the app and have your food waiting for you upon arrival. (Mainly for impatient people). If you need some time away from the kids, time with your honey or just a solid place to read your comic books. This is that place. The variety of tacos are delicious and satisfying. Super inconsistent, always changing hours. First time I went, I think I got something called a flank steak taco? It was very good! Next time I got slow-roasted Angus brisket and it was Terrible!! I threw it all away. The red Velvet cake is also nasty as it is not sweet and rich, but rather watery and has a bad consistency. The staff was awesome the first 2 times I went- but the food is expensive and overall not worth it. The last guy guy that I had was rude and weird. Food is fresh and a little different than the Mexican food that Im used to. Its ok, just not something I personally would choose to eat often. Its a bit pricey as well. A taco will run you about $5-6 dollars. The brisket nachos were a bit skimpy, they have a fresh taste with the fresh corn and pico. I tried the red velvet cake that comes with cajeta on the side to drizzle over top and did not like it. The slice of cake will run you about $5 also.

Driven by this location many times and finally decided to give it a try, sadly though, I think I will be sticking with Torchys. The food was delicious but the atmosphere and service were subpar. The crewmembers we dealt with and observed werent very friendly, in addition we ordered four tacos one of which was wrong so we brought it to their attention and they said theyd get it remade but the remake never came; it took OVER 20 minutes and at that point we couldnt wait anymore so I had to speak with the manager about it and while he was kind enough to give us a partial refund it should never have come to that point, craziest thing was that there werent many other customers. As far as atmosphere there were tons of flies which wasnt too surprising because there were uncleaned tables and other messes which was shocking to me because when we arrived up until we left they werent very busy, so why not clean?? In addition, music should be background noise, not so loud that you cant have a conversation at a reasonable volume. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

The food presentation was great. However, the taste of the food wasn t exceptional. Starting with the flour tortilla. I wish it was more of a home style like the H E B homemade tortillas not the thin ones that you can buy in almost every food store. Maybe for others it isn t a big deal but when you re paying 6 to 7 dollars a taco I would expect more. I think the concept of the restaurant- a lot of traditional foods from different cultures blended together- is an awesome idea. However, the tacos tasted as if the flavors didn t balance well together and just randomly put together. For my fiancé and I, we had 5 tacos, 2 drinks, and a queso and spend 45 dollars. I don t want to discourage people from trying this place as we all have different taste buds, but we were expecting so much more and didn t get it. As taco fanatics, my fiancé and I don t see us coming back. Best of luck to the business.

Went on pre opening day and have been a fan ever since. We have just about tried every taco. Our favorites are the Cuban Pig, the Rotisserie, and the Spicy Tikka Chicken. We came for the food and stayed for the drinks.

So I ordered one taco through the drive-thru, I sat around for 15 minutes waiting outside parked. I went inside to ask about my order and the woman couldn t find it so called out the ticket too the kitchen. I continued waiting while everyone around was getting their food. The woman then approaches me, and looks at a bag that had been sitting on the counter for awhile and said is this yours? I said I don t know I have been waiting for my food. She never checked the bag and it was my food that had been sitting there the whole time. The woman working appeared to be scattered everywhere and focused on other things. She seemed to be the manager. I then got my food and there was cilantro when I asked for none. I am very disappointed and this experience makes me not want to visit the Waco location Velvet Taco.

If I could give a zero star I would. We ordered and then sat for 30 minutes along with 3 others waiting for our food! Then when we finally got it we got soggy and cold food. PLUS they messed up our order. They have good potential and a pretty building but it was terrible dealing with the wait time and the readiness of the food! Every other customer around me felt the same way too.

I ordered guacamole and chips, a Korean fried chicken taco, and a rotisserie chicken taco. The guacamole was excellent and tasted very fresh! The fried chicken taco was slightly greasy, but I didn t mind and found it to be delicious. The rotisserie chicken taco was my favorite of the two, but my first bite was right into a bone! I had to quadruple check that my tooth wasn t cracked afterwards. The taco itself was amazing and almost made up for it, but it was crazy to find a bone, especially that big, hidden inside. The tacos are awesome, but be careful before you dig in.

Update. Went back Saturday and gave it another go, and everything was great! The service was on point and so was the food! I figured they were just working out the kinks. So, Ive changed my 3 star rating to 5 stars! Great Place & Glad They Are Here! Im super excited to have Velvet Taco in Waco. I had gone to the one in Austin, in the domain and it was AWESOME. So I had high hopes for this one. The service was slow and maybe its because they are still working out the kinks. That said, my tortilla was cold and hard, and my chicken was maybe room temperature. That said, my chicken and waffle taco was off the hook amazing!!! TRY THE CHICKEN & WAFFLES TACO! I will definitely give it another shot. I hope it gets better. (It Did!)

Hi there! I just wanted to reply regarding that 5th star you mentioned. I rarely ever give 5 stars... to me, 5 stars is a perfect score and I just feel that a perfect score means theres absolutely nothing to better yourself at, and if theres no room for becoming better- then theres no room for growth- professionally or independently. I admit that could be a wrong way to look at things but Ive always felt that way! Keep up the great work. You seem to have a solid team working for you. Man oh man oh man... if you havent already, you must! This is my new favorite place to get tacos! I dont mean your regular crunchy taco... these are stuffed full with all kinds of yummy goodness! My favorite is the rotisserie chicken. Ill get a pic next time Im there... Ive been a coupl3 of times and just scarffed it down! I can tell you its so delicious tho!! Make sure to get the chips n cheese and save some room for the red Velvet cake too- or take it home but dont go without it! The dining area is pretty small so be aware during the rush-hour dining times, but they have seating on the patio as well. It also gets a little hectic when waiting for your order when its slammed because your just standing there and everyone is in everyones way. So if you get claustrophobic, just go during the slower hours. The staff is friendly too so leave a tip in the tip jar if you can! A+++ from me!
