Get ready for some entertainment! You are not just walking into a ho-hum restaurant. When greeted by Red, you will never forget the smile, theatrics and energy. Recommend starting or ending with the speak easy. You will be led there if and only if you know the code. The bartender Mitch seemed to be serious about his craft. While not on the menu, order the double smoked Old Fashion. We were mesmerized at the many steps that were taken to deliver one of the best old fashions we had ever had. We circled back around for our reservation and had the pleasure of having Katie as our waitress. The service was paced and attentive. Especially love the paced part as recently we have been slammed by our food at other locations even after asking for time in between courses. And may I say you need time in between courses here. Everything was cooked to perfection. We sat near the cooks line which is dangerous if you are hungry. It was cool to hear and see and smell the happenings of a busy kitchen with passionate chefs doing the thing they love on a Saturday night. Thanks to Lance the owner for coming out and talking to us. It was a special night with my friends.

Overpriced food, hates the idea thar you have rights, feels they own public spaces. Profoundly ignorant authoritarians earning negative reviews by forgetting they are a glorified feeding-trough first and foremost. God bless our homeless vets... Parking: Try parking your but on the public sidewalk, they will call the police on you for existing there. If they dont like the public in public, then they probably dont feel any better about customers who demand things in exchange for money as if this is a free capitalistic market. Kid-friendliness: They despise vets and their families, and hate the homeless. Do not take your family here...

Attempted to eat at this highly rated restaurant, I was instead met with the blonde server, who was very rude and snarky! We came in at a busy time and there was only a table of 2 and we had 3 people. We walked to the front to grab an extra chair, which the server watched us do, brought it to our table and she yelled at us across the restaurant about how we can t do that because it was a fire hazard. We moved the chair back and sat at this table in the air conditioning so we could wait for another to open up. She then came up to us and told us we cannot sit there so as we were getting up, she yelled in our face did you hear what I said?? VERY unprofessional and it was not an inviting place. We were very kind and we didn t know we weren t allowed to do that. Super rude!!! EDIT The fact that I am a business owner who is very well versed in customer service, THIS is not it! Arrogant and prideful behavior for the owner to come commenting on everyone s negative reviews and say Nuh uh, you re wrong!!! PLEASEEEE SAVE YOUR BREATH. Pathetic is what it is. As a customer, you should treat them with the MOST RESPECT. Especially if they have been nothing but polite! Maybe you should take a few crash courses on how to run a business because bashing people online who have REAL, NEGATIVE experiences tells everyone EVERYTHING they need to know about this establishment. That s what reviews are for!! If you have a problem with something someone says about your establishment, instead of bashing them (which by the way, does nothing for you!) maybe change the things people are complaining about! Culture ETX has so many terrible reviews! Please do us all a favor and get off your high horse. Thanks so much!

I really liked this place. And for being on the square in Tyler, Texas, it is really top notch. Didnt quite hit like our favorite hot spots in Dallas, but I think this has to be one of the best options around. We liked the intimate feel. And the service was good, even if the server was a little dry. I got their famous pork chop which I think was talked up a little too much. I did like it, but Id probably try something else next time. Overall we had a fun dinner and would return.

Didnt even get to the food. The waiter and staff (with the exception of the greeter) are so unwelcoming and brusque, it was off-putting. I think they are in business to sell food, right?? And the restaurant is in East Texas (the home of good manners), not New York or Paris (the home of ill manners, but the restaurants are so good we will tolerate it.)

The small plates and sides were fantastic. We ordered the rib eye. It was overcooked, dry, and tough. We cook and eat a lot of rib-eye. It didnt even seem like the right cut of meat. When the waiter asked how our food was, and I expressed that it was tough and overcooked (we asked for medium rare, and it was brown), he said, No one has ever complained before, and that was it. He didn t send it back or do anything. When I mentioned again that it was overcooked, he said, I am only the server .

My family and I were visiting in town and the first time we went to Culture it was a fluke, we didnt want to but the place we had planned was closed. Well, we were VERY pleasantly surprised at the taste, presentation, and the staff. We were cracking jokes at lunch the first time and the food was phenomenal. We went to dinner two other times during our stay and everything was incredible. The lamb flatbread and both of the duck dishes were absolutely our favorites. Pasta dishes were all amazing too. Our second time at dinner, they forgot our elote, but the third time we went at dinner, the server brought us a complementary bowl of elote amd it was fantastic! They are all amazing folks there. If/when we come back to Tyler we will definitely be going again!! For a place that looks like a small little hole in the wall, the food is incredible and the service is amazing! We couldnt stop raving about it all week and the servers and cooks recognized us and greeted us at the door when we walked in each time after the first. Definitely reccomend! As for the price, you pay for what you get. And what you get here is a wonderful experience!

I enjoyed the appetizers and thats why I gave the food a two star review. I ordered a ribeye that was anything but melt-in-your-mouth. Ive had deer jerky that was easier to chew. Service? What service? How many $100+/person restaurants have some guy in a ball cap and a tee shirt who cant tell you one thing about the drinks or menu? The place is the size of an efficiency apartment. The atmosphere was a total drag because every time a patron came in the door you had to contend with the draft from outside, someones backside bumping into your table, and the whole welcome spiel from the hostess. I get it, we have a generation of people who want to flex on social media about eating at an expensive restaurant- but save your money for a true upscale dining experience. I had a table of six and our bill $500+ It was only that low because two people ordered a pizza!

My girlfriend and I went to Culture ETX for Valentine s Day and we were looking forward to it! We were told in advance that we would be seated outside. We started with the cheese course which was $24 and did not come with bread or crackers, after having to reread the menu, the waiter refused to bring cracker or bread explaining we can buy a bread plate for $14, the cheese course is now $40. ABSURD! Next we ordered the salmon, spaghetti carbonara and the Crawfish Mac and cheese, the salmon was great and the carbonara was meh, the portion was too small, we never received the crawfish Mac that we ordered which speaks to the poor service. We enjoyed the bread pudding for desert which was unusual but tasty. Then to add insult to injury they charge a credit card fee at the end. 3% Was very displeased with the experience. Overall some of the food was good, some was poor. The service was worse than the food. The price was fine if we had gotten what we paid for. Will not go there again. If you are in Tyler skip this place.

We leave phones in the car on date night and since the daily changing menu is available via QR code, our server Kyle said, no biggie, Ill walk you thru it. He asks what are we in the mood for? I was thinking seafood, hubby said whats on special? I selected and Sea Bass and hubby selected the Heritage Pork Chop, both off of Kyles recommendation and HOLY SCHMOLY, YESSSSS...... We also got a Ceasar side salad and house salad. Ceasar salad was LOVELY! We intentionally asked about dessert to strategically plan how much we ate and we got the chocolate mousse and bread pudding. The mousse was KILLER and the bread pudding with chantilly cream was phenomenal. Big ol bag of meh . I went here based on a r/TylerTX Reddit thread s recommendations, got like 6 oz. of steak and 11lbs. of fries for $273 dollars (kidding), but in all seriousness, the juice just isn t worth the squeeze. They re real close to being great, they re just not quite there yet. Edit (response to owner s response): potatoes are cheap, and shouldn t be the best part of a steak and potatoes meal (in my opinion). The steak was cooked perfectly, but lacked flavor, even with the provided sauce. I mean this with all respect and in hopes that it helps you adjust and thrive. It s just not quite there for me. Not saying I ll never be back, but I really want to offer constructive criticism because I want the best for Tyler. Adjusting score to 5 stars because of your reply and that I truly believe you can be great.

My GF took me here for a celebratory meal. She had never been and want try them. For the price tag which we didnt mind paying, we were definitely expecting better quality to match the cost. WRONG! Warning you will leave feeling hungry and totally disappointed from a flavor perspective. The portions are small, and the food is average, nothing to really rave about and def not worth the price point or considered fine in regards to taste. We left wishing we had gone just about anywhere else. Not worth the $$$ and hype in my opinion, we left feeling unsatisfied, and I have had fine dinning experiences in lots of other cities for the same or less cash with better food and significantly better flavor. I almost felt ripped off 10 folds over after leaving there. Regarding the actual food; it came out warm! Not even freshly hot, this was so sketchy, it felt as if they just warmed it up, plated it and brought it out. For Plating, the meals were picture perfect, but quality stopped right there, they totally missed the mark in terms of flavor. For Service, To top it off, their wait staff has the same IDGAF attitude as the owners. Dont believe me? Just read the responses to other reviews. Belittle much? Looking down on your customers in such a derogatory fashion is disgusting and this behavior is echoed by all their staff! If this is what they say about their guests online, imagine how they talk about you when they are prepping your food! Honestly, please take your hard earned or not so hard earned elsewhere. This fine-dining restaurant is not so fine and not worth the time or money.

it is 1.5 hours since i left the restaurant, i still do not have any taste in my mouth because the food was so OVER SEASONED/SALTED . admittedly, i am a technological Luddite, and do not use apps. but to be forced to use a QR code in order to view the menu is degrading. worse to be told i am not going to stand here and go through the menu was infuriating. eventually my wife gave me the basics of the menu so i could choose. He could have used his own phone but suggested that my wife read it when i mentioned my dissatisfaction with this arrangement to the maitre de his lack of concern was blatant. my wife indicates that the water smelled and tasted bad. she sent back the first cup and could not drink its replacement. I was excited to try the octopus, i wish i could identify the taste of it, but was unable to discern anything but salt. i was able to taste a little of the sauce, but my wife tells me it was good. my flat iron steak....how do i say this? the restaurant flaunts using locally raised beef etc. It looked like it was cooked well. i wouldnt know because the amount of seasoning totally obliterated the taste of the actual meat. it was served with a gigantic serving of fries which i appreciated until i tasted it. the amount of salt rendered it inedible. My wife, however enjoyed her red snapper. she could only eat half and had the remainder boxed to go. the waiter put it on another table while delivering the check. I was so anxious to leave that it may still be there. it is very pricey. i am ok with paying well for good food and service. this was neither, but still pricey. my experience would have to significantly improve to be disappointed. btw: when making the reservation the website asked if the dinner was to acknowledge something. i responded that it was a special occasion. I wonder why they want to know?

Too expensive of a meal to have to suffer through it. Crank down that AC and raise prices a coupla bucks to cover it, Ill gladly pay it! Beer cooler is also sub par-- I dont want to drink my beer warm like the Germans, even if its German beer (try their DB dark Weiss beer).

Have been wanting to try for awhile but my schedule hardly allows for a Saturday night. Got in at 5 and the service was astounding and were seated quickly. We chose the Bone Marrow in which the server let us know that they were out of bacon jam and that the chef was figuring out an alternative, which he chose local honeycomb and couldn t have been more satisfied. My fiancé went with the Pasta Acadiana and were a bit surprised by the dish. The crawfish was rubbery, the ham was chewy and dry and not even 4-6 minutes off the heat and the sauce was broken, like completely split. We did notify the server and he offered another plate but we had a 630 time constraint to attend to. He did provide a 10% discount on this dish since she had eaten maybe 4-5 bites but we did not box it and take it home. Again the server came back once more and did offer desert but time was just not allowed. I tasted her dish and agreed, not something I would have let leave the pass. I got the Heritage Pork Chop which was fantastic, the mustard greens and fennel pollen was excellent and the Harrissa was actually spicy enough, unlike most. The only thing was that the pork chop hit a pan that was just a little too hot because the outside of the pork was slightly dry, the center was absolute perfection. I took my leftovers home or what was left of it. Overall good service, the music was a little too loud for our taste, table a little wobbly but all small things. I appreciate the Sous Chef for making the accommodation for the bone marrow as I was really craving it. Food was good but not as exciting as I have read nor been told. I guess I expected more and maybe that s not Cultures fault, but I wasn t expecting The French Laundry or an atmosphere of Alinea, just something a bit more elevated and exciting than what we have in Tyler which isn t much. Take what you will from this but it s only constructive criticism from a fellow, local Chef.

Everything was excellent, if I HAD to suggest anything. It would only be the music volume (although i did like the playlist). The beef tartar was amazing, both my wifes Pasta Acadiana was rich and beautiful in Cajun flavors. My flat iron steak was beyond awesome with excellent peppercorn crust and our desert was a fantastic chocolate moose. Overall we had an amazing dinner and both the hostess and waiter were far and beyond helpful and inviting. We are so very glad we chose here for our 1st anniversary.

The Buratta was exquisite!! If you wanted to come in and just have a light snack like meal for two over wine, it would be perfect!! The Mac n cheese is gold in a bowl!! The perfectly cooked pasta and handpicked cheeses make for the perfect casin high! The Ceasars salad with the duck aioli is superb! The perfect topping for fresh crisp lettuce! Now, for the main course, the Delmonico steak. When I tell you it is worth every penny per pound, I wholeheartedly mean it. In fact, it is a steal for the quality you will not find anywhere else within 100 miles!!!! I asked for the best steak and I am not disappointed!!! You absolutely have to eat dessert!!! I insist on it adamantly!!! The lemon pound cake is a dreamlike experience youll never want to end!! On top of everything we tasted, the staff was next level!! They were very attentive and by far the best service we have received in as long as I can remember!!! We will most definitely be back!! Thank you all so much for an unforgettable experience!!! Weve been to Culture ETX three times now, twice for dinner and once for lunch. Last time we were in we were reflecting that its probably one of our favorite restaurants in the Tyler / Longview area. Food is absolutely delicious and the menu and waitstaff and the whole vibe is of enthusiasm about good food and a willingness to try new things. A lot of other area restaurants are very same old same old but not so much Culture ETX. (Although you can definitely get old classics type food from their menu, for example the fries are freaking amazing.) For us its definitely a treat to go here because drinks and a couple courses definitely add up in price, but if you want a special dinner this is an amazing place, great food and staff. Although I should add that the lunch prices are super reasonable so you could also visit for lunch if the dinner prices are a stretch for your wallet.

Culture ETX offers a personal dining experience. Very limited seating, so its probably best to book a reservation or your not likely getting service. Our waitress was great. Started off with the beef tartar. Was okay but not memorable. I would probably try something different next time. I had the new york steak with a side of mixed veggies. Steak was cooked very well. Really liked the presentation of the food and the vegetables were great. My wife absolutely loved the Snapper. I tried it as well and it was really good. I would definitely recommend this one. After dinner we went back to the speak easy. Was a neat little joint. Espresso martini was really good. My smoked old fashioned was also really good. If your looking for a more personalized dining experience and want to try something different in Tyler, give this place a try.

Best restaurant in Tyler, rivaling top spots in the big cities. Lucky to have this gem on the Square. Unique dining experience, excellent food, with great service. I love the open kitchen concept to bring in a little culinary theater to enjoy while exploring the many delectable dishes. Please be prepared to spend at least an hour and a half because good scratch cooking with locally sourced ingredients doesnt come fast, and youll want to savor every moment. Also, while not necessary, reservations are highly recommended as its a small dining space and it fills up quick in advance. Check out the new speakeasy easy which just opened that is secretly attached. Get the password on social media and tell the hostess to lead you to some outstanding pre/post dinner cocktails and bites in a super cool and cozy atmosphere unlike anything in Tyler.

Surprise! Very sophisticated bistro food in a delightful small-town setting. Wildly inventive menu with an emphasis on locally-provisioned excellence. Chicken so good that it is being sold elsewhere on the square. Id eat anything on this menu, tuna tacos and beef carpacio are standouts. Be warned that the fries come in 4 person servings, yet are addictive and impossible to stop eating. Its a conundrum, just do yourself a favor and get the steak frites already. To-go charcuterie plus a six-pack from True Vine is an often-overlooked marvel. Smart community-focused management that provided needed emergency care to the surrounding area during the 2021 winter storm, aka snowvid. They took care of us, we take care of them. Ignore the anti-maskers who dont even eat here and whose on-line astroturfing and bile seem increasingly desperate, this place kept us safe and follows a prudent and practical, science-based safety protocol. Highly recommended.

I called to make reservations with Culture ETX last week. During the call I asked if I could bring in a bottle of wine as I did last time which was last summer. I was told that I could bring in local wines and would not get charged a corking fee. I arrived at the restaurant and was told by the waiter again that it would be fine to bring in a bottle to have with dinner. Myself and two other ladies each bought a bottle from True Vine and brought in to the restaurant with us. The establishment is a rather small area. The kitchen is open to the dining area separated by a glass barrier that is open and allows interaction from the kitchen to the dining area. There was Lance McWhorter, owner & Chef, preparing food that looked up at myself and my friends and said You know we sell wine here in a loud condescending tone. I explained that I did know but was told twice (once when I called and as I came in this day we could purchase a bottle to bring in) He said he would have to charge a corking fee as that was only the case during COVID. I told him that I would pay it. He then turned toward the inside kitchen area and talked down to the waiter and was using profanity. For the next fifteen minutes or so he glared at myself and my friends at the table and mumbled showing much frustration and anger. I have never been treated in such a disrespectful way by anyone in this type of situation before. I was made to feel very disrespected and uncomfortable. Although, the food was good I will never step foot in that establishment again.

And my friend dining with me ordered pork belly, mac and cheese, and collard greens. Her food was similarly disappointing - neither of us finished our food. The prices are INSANE, especially for the quality, and they add tons of ridiculous surcharges and fees, like a card use fee and split check fee, and the atmosphere isnt even good! Now the entrees we where not impressed with at all. I got the beef bolognese and I couldn t finish it. It was bland needed some salt I m not sure but it wasn t good. The steak on the steak frites was over salted. They also need to filter the drinking water Tyler has nasty faucet water. Not something you expect to drink at a restaurant your paying 20$ for a small plate so we would appreciate it if you guys get a filtering system. How ever it wasn t a horrible experience so I would probably go back for the small plates though. Maybe we just ordered the wrong thing.

Just ate here and the food was excellent! The pork chop was thick and tender. The flat steak was also very tender, considering this is not a prime cut. Both were seasoned to perfection. We started with a couple Ceasar side salads and ended with the best fried bread pudding Ive ever eaten. Prices for full meals seemed a little high, but considering the quality of the food, it was really fairly priced. The only reason for dropping a star was the music, kind of rap hip hop, a little too loud. OK. Just to be fair, Im over 65, but still, this is not dinner music. It really detracted form the exceptionally great meal.

The food was really really good and they give you large portions as well. All of the staff were really nice and attentive as well. It was also a very open and clean environment.

I love Culture. I come here pretty often. Probably the best restaurant in Tyler if you know good food. If youre considering between Bernards or Dakotas then stop. You should go here instead. But not on the nights I go cause there isnt a lot of seating room. Wish my girlfriend would apply here and quit her current waitress job haha.
