We had a wonderful experience on a weeknight pre-show cocktails & light fare. First class bartender, Tyler took great care of us. Lobster bisque was OMG good! Wow! We will return!

100% would recommend!!!! The bartender in the Glasses and the one in the leather paper boy hat were amazing service was awesome! Try the shrimp and crab ceviche. Bartenders are very good with the cocktails Nergoni was perfect and the old fashion was on point. Will be back!

Nothing from any keystrokes I could commit to this box here on this little platform could do anything at this joint justice, but, I know that many, many, many people give these reviews a lot of salt when having their production meetings on where to eat/drink for the day/evening/whatever when in another town, so...one word: SUPERB.

Sometimes, you just have to treat yourself! THE BLACK PEARL. located on the square. a member of RICKS ON THE SQUARE family. A very high end classy oyster Bar for a lack of better words. but let me tell you, very down to earth feel and amazing, friendly staff. . open since 2016. How I didnt know it has been here that long, as much of an oyster guy I Am, surprised me. Mind you, not just one type of oysters. . they carry many east coast varieties. . to be able to order oysters and to be able to specify which ones you wanna try. AMAZING. salty mariners, black Berrys. China sea, the list goes on. all with with different salinity levels and flavors. . and my favorite. Served with a Nice vinegar sauce and all the normal condiments on packed crushed ice. Super chilled and fresh and accompanied with some wonderful lavash crackers. Theres only 16 Items on the menu. . .and they do them so well. I tried 5 out of the 16 Today. Lol. dont judge me. ha ha . .and all of them were excellent. maybe more than 5 if you count two orders of oysters. 4 at a time. 2 each flavor of the ones I tried. .Oh and plus one oyster shooter as well. . so I had 5 different types of oysters Today. It was fantastic. I also tried the creole seasoned jumbo shrimp. Excellent spice amount to them. The crab stuffed boiled shrimp. Very tasty with the lemon cream sauce over them. The shrimp and crab ceviche was so fresh and light and bursting with flavor. All that was my snacking finger food so to speak. .Lol. But for my main dish. I went with the carpaccio. It was beautiful as much as it was tasty. Done Oh so perfect with the choice of toppings they did it with, very much in the traditional sense. However one twist I found pleasant, was the fried capers. It added a Nice crunch and salty pop to go with the rich taste of the Raw beef. And the garlic toast points were a Nice addition to the dish. So for all you oysters lovers or anyone with a taste for classy food and flavor. this is the place. and surprisingly. . for all that flavor? All that food? and 4 ice cold beers and an oyster shooter with vodka. . my tab was right under a hundred bucks. . . without tips of course. but not as costly as you would think for Such quality. Im highly Impressed and very Happy with this, soon to be my favorite food spot in Tyler Texas. Give them a try. you wont regret it. . .only open Tuesday through Saturday. and only after 4 pm. Tuesday by the way. . Half price oysters. So for you folks on a beer budget but craving champagne quality food? Thats your day! enjoy the pictures. Kid-friendliness: I would not call this place Kid friendly. . Its kinda small and all your main seating is Bar stools and Bar tops. There are a few tables for parties of 4 or more it seemed. . But most of it is sitting at a Bar environment.

One of the coolest bars in Tyler. If you re a male, make sure you have some kind of sleeves on the shirt you re wearing when you enter. I was asked to leave once because I was wearing a tank top on a hot summer day.

Perfect place for late night cocktails. We didn t get oysters tonight, but it looked like they had a solid selection. Just a couple tables here - we were lucky to snag one. Everyone else was lined up at the bar and behind it. But everyone seemed to love it! It s that kind of place. Great buzz. Solid bar tenders. All staff was very helpful and kind. We enjoyed the two desserts we got (key lime pie and crème brûlée). Nicely done. All our cocktails were great. Would definitely recommend for evening drinks. Downtown Tyler is a neat vibe these days! Parking: After 5pm the parking around the square is free. We circled once and found a spot. Worth it. Kid-friendliness: Not really for kids

LOVE the Black Pearl. Food and service was great. Cocktails were spot on, we had the Black Pearl Margarita and a Moscow Mule. Followed that with lobster bisque which is rich and creamy and boiled shrimp. I had the crab crostini which is light and full of flavor. My hubby had the crab Louie salad which is enough for 2 people to share. Overall a solid 5 stars and must visit.

Last nights experience was extremely disappointing, in fact we left after I questioned shrimp and crab ceviche, it was all avocados & tomatoes. Was told twice It s in there Ok, ask for a plate to spread it out to find the shrimp and crab that was in there *minuscule bits* Lemon drops usually delicious, just ok. Completely different staff. You can definitely tell Nathan is no longer there, it s too bad no one picked up on his excellent services & management. This is an expensive place for mediocrity. Js

Just left one of the worst restaurant experiences I have probably ever had. This is clearly a bar, but the service isn t even as good as a bar without food should be. After coming from Ricks, knowing they were owned by the same place, one might expect better . Save your time money and sanity and go to Ricks on the Square considering my tab for 5 drinks and 1 dozen oysters was over $100. The picture is the oyster that is standard for $39 a dozen, and that s what you should expect from them according to the server that wouldn t share his name He also failed to provide napkins with the food until the third request We even had to ask someone else to close us out our tab because he didn t take it the two times he past bye. Not a fan!

I hesitate to write a great review only because it will become more crowded ..but at the same time, I hate to NOT share such a gem in Tyler. This restaurant never disappoints. The staff are wonderful/on point/creative/attentive and just PERFECT! The drinks are the best in Tyler (old fashion) and the food is unlike anything else you will find here. The oysters are so fresh, the tuna tartare is delicious and their beef carpaccio and lobster bisque can t be beat ..we just LOVE everything about this restaurant/bar. If you haven t been, do yourself a favor and go ..

My favorite restaurant in Tyler! It s a charming place with exquisite and unique plates! My favorite is ordering a dozen oysters, which are not gulf. They have a great selection of rotating oysters from different locations. I also order the Crab Louis Salad and Lobster Bisque. Both full with flavor and do not skimp on the amount! I will always come here! Beautiful dishes! I have never been disappointed. Their craft cocktails also pair well with all of the food.

Loved the food, the oyster selection is great as it is not just gulf oysters, the whole atmosphere is calm and enjoyable (you can have a conversation with the person next to you). I will definitely frequently visit here for upscale seafood. The bartenders and and staff were super friendly and had good input on the menu items.
