I hired Attorney Robert Kuehm to represent me in my divorce case. My ex is a highly abusive alcoholic, and I was incredibly scared and fearful for my childrens well-being. I had already consulted with two other attorneys at other firms, just to be told that there was not alot I could do to protect my children after the divorce. Meeting Robert and Rex(Paralegal) was a game changer. Robert is incredibly kind and knowledgeable and i felt incredibly honest and straightforward. He is patient and takes his time to answer my questions very thoroughly. Rex, was no different! He was definitely the glue holding us all together, and his attention to detail and thoroughness really helped when it came down to court. He was very easy to talk to, made himself available on evenings and weekends, and never made me feel like I was bugging him or that he was just too busy for me. If I could give 0 stars I would. Called on Monday to set up a 30 min consult with Ben Raia for my husbands child custody case. Told them we would need to bring our 7 yr old daughter in, and asked if that was okay. The receptionist who took my information said he didnt think it would be an issue if she came in with us, but that he would let me know if there were any issues in the appt confirmation email. I received the email with no concerns listed for bringing her, so we did. When we arrived at our appt today (that we paid $175 in advance for) they only wanted to meet with my husband. We explained he has a short term memory problem and that I needed to be present for the meeting to help him. After the woman who checked us in gave us pushback on that, the lawyer still refused to let me in, until my husband met with him alone and said he needed my help. Lawyer finally agreed then wouldnt let my daughter come back. Leaving a review because I came here because of good reviews, and wanted to give people a heads up that if you have any disabilities, or may have to bring your kids to your FAMILY LAWYER that this office isnt the one for you.

Highly recommended for professionals. We made a custom agreement the first time (not recommended) which we started before speaking with the attorneys (also not recommended). It was a train wreck. I went with their recommendations to fix it after a few years. If you speak with them early in the process and really understand your options, youll do better. Dont go with a cheap attorney or itll show - these people are respected and you should be too.

Dennis has represented me and other family members during the hardest years of our lives. He and his team worked tirelessly and knew every detail. They were knowledgeable, experienced, and invested in the outcome. It s a hard thing to trust a lawyer to successfully navigate through multiple false CPS claims, litigation and a jury trial when it s your family on the line. He did receive a favorable jury verdict within about 4 ½ minutes of the jury exiting to deliberate. We waited nearly 3 years for that moment, and it was worth far more than we could have ever paid him. I ve worked with lawyers for over 20 years, and I know first-hand that Dennis is absolutely one of the top trial lawyers in Houston. Ive lost track of how many times I have consulted Slate Law for advice and direction, but Ive never come away without feeling more positive and with a good plan. Their knowledge of the law and experience dealing with the system is comforting. Things seem overwhelming or daunting at times during this process, but the approach they take and the way they explain it makes you much more confident and relieved. I have used Dennis Slate two times now. I would not give my trust or confidence to anyone else. I was fostering 2 kids for 3 years and was supposed to adopt them. Everything changed at the last minute and I was faced losing the kids that I had loved and raised. They were going to be put into a very bad situation. Dennis and his team spent countless hours preparing for my case. Dennis knows CPS like the back of his hand. He was knowledgeable and prepared the day of the trial. Mr. Slate and the entire firm work as a team and are absolutely wonderful. Their board-certified attorneys, proactive paralegals, attentive legal assistants and friendly support staff are the best team to have around during any family legal process. Their entire staff assists throughout the process to make the entire chaotic process understandable. We knew we were in great hands. My husband and I felt absolutely comfortable with how our modification case was handled. Although they are busy office, I am sure our familys case was not the only one on their radar, but they provided us with great service as we dealt with a custody modification.

Just went through a truly difficult divorce- I am eternally grateful for the services of Robert Kuehm -and the team at Slate and Associates for getting me through successfully. The other side sadly tried to play many many dirty tricks. Mr. Kuehm never lost sight of the endgame, while remaining sympathetic to my needs, and meticulous, firm and ethical in his dealings with the other side. There are not enough words to describe how truly incredible Dennis Slate & Associates truly are. My teenage kids were taken away by CPS and the judge ruled in CPS favor in the initial hearing with misinformation. My attorney at the time did not want to anger the judge because she had to try other cases in front of him and did not want him to be biased against her. The way the case was going, I was not going to have my kids back within the year - if ever! I began to look for outside counsel which is when I found Dennis Slate. We live outside of Abilene - 7 hours away!After talking with other people that have heard of him and seen him in action, I decided to give him a call. I don t think he believed the story I told in the beginning because of all the illegal and wrong things that had been done against me and my family. He agreed to take a look at my case. He told me he would call me later that day after he checked on a few things. The end of the work day came and went and I thought, Typical lawyer , but he called me a little before 9pm! I couldn t believe it! At that moment, I knew he was the lawyer for me. Within the month, the CPS case was totally dismissed and my kids were back home. I needed an attorney that was not afraid of the small-town politics and Dennis was that attorney! Dennis and his staff always answered any questions I had promptly and professionally. Dennis is the man you want in your corner. As a veteran he felt like someone that I know could help me. I live 5 hours away from where my case was filed. Dennis Slate and his team are exceptional! We had a Intervention case with a foster child against CPS. We went to a jury trial and won! Dennis from the get go was transparent of the possible outcome of the case and our chances of winning the case. His work ethic is second to none! Honestly I have never met anyone in my life like him when it comes to this. When he walks into a courtroom he demands respect his knowledge of the court system and laws is unprecedented. Watching his presentation of the evidence against CPS and direct examination of the witness is a sight to be seen. Dennis picked up my divorce case in the middle of the process when it look like it could go all the way to court without settling. He and his team were incredible.
