Walking into Gus s the host spoke and sat us at a table which we prefer booth. Sitting us quickly walking away not the usual enjoy your meal . I quickly asked her if we could get a booth. The host gathering our menus and silverware heading over to a booth, placing it down and walking off again. I ordered the Pontchartrain, hun ordered the Ribeye steak burger . The burger was satisfying to my husband but from someone that likes their food seasoned well, was very disappointed in the Pontchartrain. The fish was cooked , the shirmp was cooked. Smoothed with white gravy that didn t work well for me. I order a California Blend of broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots , wanting the broccoli mostly I received broccoli stems with one floret. The baked potatoe was the only thing I found pleasant alone with our waitress Hope . Thank you for being kind and thoughtful. The total experience was disappointing. Don t think I ll return. First impression is a lasting impression .

I absolutely love this place. The hostess, waitresses, and bartender are wonderful. The cook is awesome. They will go out of their way to make something for you to keep you happy. Nowadays, it s hard to find service and people, that truly do care about your eat in experience. Here at Gus s they do an absolute great job. Vegetarian options: They have SALADS they have a variety of vegetables you can have them grilled,blackened or however it s stated on the menu Parking: There is plenty of parking. It is a strip mall. Sometimes you may have difficulty getting a parking spot up front. That is due to them being so busy. In my opinion,that is a good sign. Wheelchair accessibility: There is handicap parking right in front of a ramp to get up to the sidewalk they will seat you at the designated place

Ordered a medium steak, came out burnt. Ordered it to go. Check it when I got home. Bring it back or there is nothing we can do for you is what I was told. Whoever cooked the steak knew they burnt it. Service is garbage and managers have no control. Will never go back. Get people who actually care. Over hyped and does not live up to the reputation. Love burning 31$

We stayed in Texas City to avoid the crowds in Galveston and the inevitable long wait to get a table in a restaurant. Gus was a comfortable restaurant, good service, GREAT food for a reasonable price. I had the blackened catfish, she had the fried. Both were excellent! Food

Went here for the first time and automatically fell in love with it! I got the filet mignon with a baked potato on the side, and let me tell you I was so full by the end of it but the food was super good and the service is really fast even on a busy day. I believe it s one of the best places to get a steak on second thought it s probably one of the better places to eat in Texas City. If you ever get the chance to go to Gus s, do not hesitate, you may even need a reservation. Please order the steak, you will not be disappointed. The next time that we go to Texas City, we will certainly come to Gus and have a mouth watering steak medium rare.

I havent been here since they were across the street a few years back but stopped in for lunch today. Had the ribeye steak, crab cakes, and some fried mushrooms with some co workers. The food was excellent and the service was just as good. Huge improvements have been made at this restaurant. Highly recommend!

An overpriced Kellies but with disgusting food. Ordered chicken pacata, it definitely was not that. It had like Alfredo sauce with no flavor on top of the overcooked chicken with no flavor. Rice is exactly like the boxed riced you get for .99 at the store. Mac and cheese same thing tasted like powder cheese out and f a box. The roll was tasty but they probably didnt make that. It had a decent crowd but not busy yet service was very slow. Nice but slow. The old gross carpet is an appetite killer, why not carry the wood in the front throughout? Looks bad. Soda was flat, changed it twice still flat. Not worthy of the prices they charge for Walmart precooked food. Total disappointment. Should have gone to Kelleys. I just hope we dont get sick. They really should remove chicken picata or learn how to make it right.

An unexpected pleasant experience. The interior has a high end vibe but the clientele keep a casual feel. The wait staff is friendly, and the food is great. The steaks and seafood are pricey but they have other options like the chicken fried steak for about $13. Simple menu made ordering easy.

We headed down to Texas City from East Texas, on our way we googled best places to eat in Texas City. We are SO glad that Gus came up!! It was the best experience to start off our vacation!! The staff was so friendly!! Bre was our waitress and she was fabulous!! Her sister is the bartender, she made us both some delicious drinks!! We got the stuffed jalapeños (SO GOOD!), the catfish ettoufe (again SO GOOD!) and Bre recommended the HOMEMADE chocolate cake - it is TO DIE FOR!!! We will definitely be back next time we re in town!!

Filet was perfectly cooked. Baked potato and mashed potatoes were both great, Only negative is that the grilled chicken salad was definitely lacking. Only had chicken a single tomato slice and a handful of cheese. Quite underwhelming for a $13 salad. Aside from that the service was wonderful as was the majority of the meal.

Guss has been a favorite of mine for years. Now that its stuck in the Kroger strip center, we tend to forget about it. But we wanted something besides fast food and we were not disappointed.
