I remember the day we had to look for a funeral home for my dad i was in so much stress because the hospital told us that we had 24 hrs to look for a funeral home or they would send my dad to the city of temple so i felt in so much pressure to find the best place for such an amazing loving person in my eyes my dad family members and a family s friend told us about this funeral home and I couldn t appreciate them so much for their advice Dave is such an amazing man I couldn t thank him and his staff for everything they did for my dad and us his family this was the best decision ever he answered all questions with out getting mad he will keep us updated he pick my dad up from the hospital as soon as possible the same day my dad look just like he did as he was still with us wow just know this will be the place to have your loved one taken care of in the best hans Dave was such a blessing he made all are wishes posible he will not try to push you into getting what you do not want just to get money i was just so happy to know my dad was in good hans 100% recommended I could go on and on but i hope you really let him help yall

When my father passed away unexpectedly a few weeks ago, my mom knew that they had made arrangements somewhere previously, but did not know exactly which funeral home. So, I cold called businesses until I got to Hewett-Arney. Amanda told me there wasnt anything online but that she would check their paper records. I was relieved when she called me back and confirmed they had his pre-need paperwork. From that point forward, she and David were phenomenal in every aspect related to my dads cremation and memorial service. There are plenty of money grubbing and selfish business owners out there in this industry, but this is not one of them. My family and I were treated with the utmost respect, we had continual updates (or non-updates, when applicable), and we were provided a wonderful venue to celebrate my dads memory. They answered all our questions to the best of their ability and in a timely manner. It puts my heart at ease that my mom will have services here when the time comes, because they are professional and compassionate. I know shell be in good hands at that time. Cant recommend them enough. Thanks again to Amanda, David, and Cassie (hope I got that right) for everything.

David, Amanda & Rebecca were amazing from my first phone call, continuing through to my precious brother s burial service. Their sincere caring and compassion was not only heard in their voices in every phone conversation, but also experienced by their actions. I couldn t find an important military document in my brother s possessions which was needed for his burial, but David knew exactly who to call and that document was found in my brother s military files. David went over and picked that document up for me. He rolled every burden off of my shoulders onto his. I highly recommend Hewett-Arney as a funeral home you can fully entrust with your loved ones in your final act of love for those you treasure.

I talked to a lot of funeral homes when my mother was in hospice close to passing and David was the only person I felt comfortable entrusting my mother to . He was nothing but kind and compassionate, he went in my opinion above and beyond. He gave me his cell number so I could reach him at anytime and when she passed and I let him know he walked me through the process of what to do at the hospital. He sent me message when he was on his way to get her and let me know as soon as he had her. He at no point referred to her as The Body which was what I dealt with when my father passed and had a horrible impact on me.They were so kind, called her by her name, or called her my mama.They let me know every move they made with her.And when I picked up her remains that lady , Im sorry I forget her name, said your daughters are here to get you sweetheart. It made it so much easier. And they are much more affordable than most , but I would have paid extra for the kindness and love they showed us.

From the beginning, when we were pre planning my sister and I visited multiple funeral homes and every one felt sales was more important to them. Hewett-Arney was the only one that made us feel like our wishes were being heard. I told my sister when we left that I felt really good about this one. When we returned to complete the paperwork my sister and I had many follow up questions. Hewett-Arney were very patient with us and took as much time as needed to help us feel reassured. My husband passed quicker than expected. As soon as they were notified they arrived promptly with great respect and empathy. They gave us the time the family needed to say goodbye and handled my husband with great care as they transported him to the funeral home. I couldnt be more happy with the quality of care, respect and patience we received from Hewett-Arney Funeral Home. They were very friendly and caring and when there was a mix up as to where my mom was sent (not their fault but the hospitals) they picked up my mom at no extra cost to me. When my wife died, I asked them to provide cremation service. I did not want a funeral--I did not think I could make it through one. They listened and then provided exactly what I asked for. There was no attempt at hard sell of any kind. I appreciated that very much. They took care of all the details of receiving my wife back from Houston (where she was an organ donor) and then notified me when the remains and death certificates were ready. Losing a loved one is difficult enough. Not having to deal with all the details was a blessing.

My step mother passed away November 17th of 2021 Covid pneumonia. I contacted the funeral home a day later. I filled out most of the paperwork and paid the cost on the following Thursday, but needed her parents information and I did not receive that information until Saturday. However, the day before they went to the hospital and picked up her remains without the paperwork completed for the death certificate.That was a blessing for my family because we were consumed with grief that we forgot to call the hospital, but thank God that the funeral home and the hospital worked very well together. The hospital called to gain my permission to release the remains to my funeral home. After I turned in the paper for the death certificate.They sent my mom to the crematorium and stay in contact with me through the whole process. They treated me and my moms remains similar to a close friend or as a part of their family. Overall a wonderful experience and much thankfulness for them through this difficult time in my family life. Death certificate and urn wonderfully labeled and in accordance with state and airline requirements. My mom requested after her creation to be taking back home to Vietnam, which her sister will do. Again, words do not justify the level of care and attention to detail the Hewitt-Arney Funeral home have shown me and my family. We are grateful and thankful for their handling of my love one through the processes. My dad has asked me to use them for him when he leaves this world.

I would highly recommend. I had a family member use them before so I went with them for that reason. Didnt know what to expect or what needed to be done but I neednt have worried. They knew what needed to be done both from legal (Social Security notification, death certificates) to just personal preferences. I never felt pressured into buying things I didnt want or need. In talking to others who have recently lost loved ones I have come to realize they are very reasonably priced. Their online website was a great comfort to me. I was able to post pics as well as receive condolences from friends and family.

After helping other family members handle arrangements for relatives in another state, I just assumed all funeral homes were just out to get as much money from you as they could. David was so different and has gotten me through the arrangements for my husband that died from COVID last month. I am barely surviving each day since Im losing my husbands portion of VA benefits and losing almost half the Social Security we got between the two of us. I now have to move from my assisted living facility because I cant pay the rent. All this and still trying to deal with losing my husband of nearly 48 years. I paid David most of what was due on my bill and he told me to worry about a place to live and then come back and talk to him about what I owe him. He really cares about people and helping them get through one of the toughest times in their lives. Hes been like family support I dont have. All the relatives have gone already but David is the most compassionate and understanding person I have around me right now. After my mom passed away we started looking for a funeral home. We called and spoke with Dave and Amanda at Hewett-Arney. I cant say enough nice things about this place and the people who work there! I have a large family and my mother was a very eccentric women and we had some unusual request. Dave and his wife Amanda went above and beyond. We came multiple times to decorate her casket, we had special request for hair and makeup and we also wanted to have the service at her home. Our first dat for her service was when the biggest ice storm in Texas history hit and the police escort along with the deacon cancelled on us, but not Dave, he was willing to move forward if that was our wish. We rescheduled and the ice and snow just got worse. Dave with broken pipes and trees down was still willing to carry on if that is what we wanted. We finally were able to have the service the following week and he just did an amazing job. Hewett-Arney is the only family owned funeral home in the Temple area. What that means is you dont get price gouged which is important, but the level of customer service you receive from this Dave and his team is absolutely Top Notch. Isnt that what we all want is to be treated as if we just arrived at the Ritz Carlton where the customer service is priority? It was exactly what my family wanted and that is just what we received. In case you are reading this and planning the funeral ahead of time., they do all their own embalming. This isnt something most funeral homes do any longer. This will be the only funeral home our family will use moving forward.

After seeing my husband die in the Baylor Scott and White ER, I left at 2:00 AM and started calling Funeral Homes. I got an immediate call back from Dave, and I explained what I wanted, and he said no problem, come in and talk to him on the following Monday. He would arrange for pick up of my husband at the hospital. On Monday, we arrange the cremation, and subsequent burial at Dallas Fort Worth Veterans Cemetery. All went very smoothly, and I was able to pick up the remains about 7 days later, and had them transferred to an URN I had chosen. Due to a backlog at Bell County, I was able to pick up the death certificates in about 20 days. Everything was smooth, and they were very kind to me. I was stunned by the early demise of my husband...I felt we would have more time together, and that level of trauma, shock can really cause distress to the survivors, but the Hewett Arney Funeral Home help smooth any of the possible challenges in the process, and made me feel like I had an advocate. I am currently creating a book for my daughter, in the event of my death. The first call will be Hewett Arney Funeral home and I know my last wishes will be easy for her.

The death of a parent or loved one is one of the hardest times in your life. Im so glad we had chosen Hewett-Arney Funeral Home to help us when the time came when we would nee their services for my mom. I went with my mom to the facility 2 years before her death, she wanted to have everything in place before she died - we had hope thought we would have more then 2 years at the time. From the day we selected all the things we would need, service, casket, flowers, prayer cards, etc, the staff at Hewett-Arney were kind, professional and not pushy. When my mom died in Dec 2020 they were there every step of the way and helped us with things we didnt even think about. Their patience and kindness will always be remembered. Although we had originally planned a service in their facility we chose to do a small family only gathering at the gravesite instead due to the COVID pandemic. They made sure everything went perfectly. We are thankful for their compassion and help and recommend them for anyone looking for funeral services, either advance planning or at time of death. Wow! Service to the nth degree! Thats what you get at Hewett-Arney! Our experience with them was wonderful. We live in a different state and needed to make arrangements for a family member living in their city/state. We were given 3 funeral homes to call. The first one, we had to leave a message. So, we went on and called Hewett-Arney. Right away we were able to speak to a live person, the actual funeral director, David Alexander. Our circumstances were different, but that didnt matter. Each detail we needed to work out, they were always thinking outside the box to help. Even their receptionist was willing to meet us at our convenience when we were in town and wanted to drop off a black suit for them to hold until the appropriate time. Then when our family member passed away, they continued to work out everything from one state to the other over the phone or email. We had everything in place, so it was easy to do. They were prepared with the VA flag and both David and his wife, Amanda (the other funeral director), folded the flag during the service, which was in a 3rd different state. They even were prepared with a recording of TAPS to play, but it wasnt needed, since a VSO attended and played TAPS on his bugle. We cant say enough about the devoted, kind personal service and good guidance we received at Hewett-Arney. We HIGHLY recommend this family-owned funeral home!

I have met Hewett-Arney funeral home owners way before I needed any funeral home services for my own family. David and Amanda have made an impression on me as most courteous, professional and pleasant people I had to deal with while doing my own job. After my husband passed away on February 22, 2020, my sister-in-law and I started looking at funeral homes in the area of Temple, TX. It was weekend, when my sister-in-law began leaving messages at areas funeral home answering services. Hewett-Arney was the first one that answered our inquiry calls. Moreover, David Alexander recognized my voice after I answered the phone. It felt like I was talking to a friend. It was easy to make the choice of the funeral home. David Alexander was very efficient and easy to understand in explaining all the options that we could choose regarding all the funeral home services provided. We could communicate easily and efficiently any time of the day while arranging the memorial services. I was most impressed by Davids talent of writing obituaries. It seemed to me that he and I were just talking about my late husband like two fiends would. He was listening very attentively, and asking questions only when he needed to clarify spelling of some family members names. By the end of the same day, my sister-in-law and I were able to look at the rough draft of the obituary. I was amazed at how David had been able to capture all the necessary facts, how easy it was to read the whole obituary. The only corrections we had to make were a couple of typing errors. All my late husbands coworkers who had read the obituary were impressed. The same holds true about my own coworkers and friends. Everyone I talked with was so polite and knowledgeable. They did exactly what they said they would do & the cost never varied ( no hidden fees). Dave responded to our questions and confusion before we selected a funeral home for my brother. David and Amanda assisted and informed us so as to get us through this painful time. All the staff was kind and helpful. Never were we sold up. Always they accommodated our preferences and helped us accomplish them. I appreciate they had the resources and connections to make this time go as smooth as possible. They were available for every phone call and continued with excellent services during and after the service to wrap up all matters. We were very blessed to have called them. All aspects were handled with excellent, compassion and professionalism.

Hewitt-Arney has been a part of our familys tradition since I can remember. Always very accomodating, friendly and professional. We have used their service twice in the past year. My father passed away in Temple. He had only lived there 3 weeks and I and my sister live in other states on opposite sides of the country. A family member began calling around for us and felt Hewett-Arney was the best choice, but let us decide. Other funeral homes were quite pushy wanting us to sign up over the phone before ever meeting them. Dave was so kind, considerate, and willing to allow us to interview him in person. They were there every step of the way. They were up front about costs and even recommended less expensive options and gave us legitimate reasons for one or the other. We never felt pressured or hurried. When we needed time to discuss things alone as a family, they gave us that space. The funeral home has a homey, family feel, unlike so many that have a big corporate feel or others that have a white sterile feel. Hewett-Arney Funeral Home and their family began to feel like part of our family. Each phone call to Dave prior to the service was greeted with patience and kind help. They helped us with a military service and even recommended a wonderful Chaplain to officiate the service, since we didnt know anyone in the area. They made an overwhelming process quite smooth. Funerals are a part of this life and never what we want, but we are thankful to have found Hewett-Arney Funeral Home in our time of suffering and sorrow. Our older brother, Darryl Divis died suddenly on 5/21/2019 and we were left to make the heart wrenching decisions. I made several calls to various funeral homes in the area as funds were very limited. We met with Dave Alexander at the facility regarding arrangements. Dave was very honest and informative regarding our options and upcoming decisions. The whole process was very smooth and effortless on our part which can be attributed to the knowledge of Dave, Amanda and Audra. I made several calls to Dave prior to the funeral service and was greeted with nothing but patience and kindness every time I asked questions or wanted to make changes. They are definitely in business for the right reasons, which is to help families in their time of need with the loss of a loved one without taking advantage of their pain through their pockets. The Hewett-Arney team was fantastic to my family. Our Mother died in Temple and as children who lived in another city Dave and Amanda were solid gold. They went out of their way to be helpful and in most cases went beyond the call of duty in helping us coordinate the cremation, funeral service, and gravestone placement. Extremely considerate, thoughtful, and aware of our needs. After our youngest son committed suicide, we were devastated. We were not looking for a glorious ceremony, just something simple on our property to say goodbye before he was to be cremated. David made several recommendations to assist us in getting what we wanted for our sons departure. Since our son was a soldier, David was extremely familiar with his rights and the benefits we could use. If it hadnt been for David, we would not have established a memorial marker at the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery so that we and his daughter would always have a place to honor him. When you lose your loved one, make sure that Hewett-Arney is one of the locations that you contact. We contacted three and could not have been more pleased with our decision.

I highly recommend Hewett-Arney Funeral Home. Dave did such a nice job on the footstone for my sister, very creative, and very thoughtful. He was so easy to work with, I am not right around the corner, so he also took care of some detailed work on my fathers gravesite and my brothers as well. My sister passed away in Temple, Texas, but all of her family lived out of town. We found the Hewett-Arney Funeral Home and reached out to them for assistance. We could not have been more pleased with the support that Amanda Arney and David Alexander provided us. It was difficult enough trying to plan services for our sister and then having to do it from a distance made it harder. Amanda and her staff took great care of us and were always available by phone or email to offer guidance and support. The day of the service, everything looked beautiful. They were there at just the right time throughout the service to ensure that our sister s and family s needs were handled. While it was a sad and joyful day, the Hewett-Arney Funeral Home helped ensure that we were able to celebrate our sister s life in the best possible way. Hewett-Arney Funeral Home truly treats everyone like family. Everyone there is very caring and is opened to answering all your questions. I went in as a walk in to do some pre arraignments so we knew prices and information because my grandma was 87. The doctors told us she had about 6-12 months before she would pass away. She ended up passing away 3 days after I visited Hewett-Arney. It was the middle of the night when the hospital called us to tell us she had passed. I gave them the card from the funeral home and they made the call for us. Shortly after giving them the card Amanda called to let us know that someone would be on the way shortly. The sweet lady that came to pick up my grandma was so patient and waited in the hallway until we left the hospital floor. That same morning I met with Amanda at the funeral home to go over the cost and she explained everything to me. I live in Alabama but was in Texas when this all happened. The funeral home called to let me know that the death certificate came in. They mailed them to me and even did a follow up call to make sure I got them. We had my grandma cremated and will be holding her service in July. From the start and up to know I have been very pleased with everyone here. My mom said that she knows who will be taking care of her when she passes and that will be Hewett-Arney. This is all because of the great care they gave my grandma and our family during this time.
