EDIT: We had 2 more visits after I wrote this review that were more than pleasant. Our kitty ended up being hospitalized and they took wonderful care of her and were very open and communicative about her care. Additionally, a staff member called and followed up on my original review which I appreciated. Overall, our first experience, while not the greatest, ended up being balanced out in the end. The veterinarian and lab technician who worked with us were absolutely wonderful. However, the 2 ladies working at the reception desk were outside smoking a cigarette when we showed up, and let us stand at the reception desk for a moment or two before coming in to help us. Additionally, we had brought a stool sample with us as that was the main concern for our visit, and after handing the stool sample to them and turning away, my husband observed them making faces and acting unprofessional before realizing he was looking at them, and stopping. Super disappointed to hear this was how staff was acting behind my back during a sensitive time of need for our pet. Would recommend the lab technician and doctor wholeheartedly, but am hesitant to return due to the unprofessionalism and downright rudeness of the reception staff.

MONEY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN QUALITY CARE! I took my critically ill pup who had been exposed to Cane Toad toxins in to be treated. Upon arriving they took her back immediately and began trying to get her stabilized. I was asked to pay a $700 deposit, which I did without hesistation. About 2 hours later one of the techs came out with an estimate of an additional $1223 for her care and said she would have to kept at the clinic for 2 days for monitoring. At this point I assumed that my pup was going to recover. The same tech then came back out and advised me that the lab tests were not run due to a machine error the first time and they would have to do them again and let me know what was going on. An hour or so later, she then brought out another estimate for double the lab test fees and more additional charges for an additional $1952 for her care. I told them that I did not understand why I was being charged twice for the lab tests when the machine failure was not my fault. She removed the charge and came back with another estimate around $1500. Thats when I began to feel suspicious of the charges as they were attempting to get me to sign them without reading over them carefullly. At no time was I told the prognosis of my pet, just varying estimates. An hour later, the vet pulled me into a room and told me that the lab tests were not good and that she would require extensive treatment or die. She asked what my budget was and I advised her that I had a set amount of money available to spend today until I could get home and transfer funds for additional care. After this I was brought another estimate that exceeded all the others. After advising the vet and the tech that I had a set amount readily disposable for her care they ignored me and kept increasing the costs. After making the decision to leave her there thinking she would recover, I asked to see her so I could say goodbye until I could return the next day to visit her. I was told they would prep a room or bring her out to me. I waited and an hour and half later, for no reason whatsoever the vet tech brings out another estimate for $900 telling me that was what I owed them if I wanted to take her home. After becaming frustrated with the constant estimate hounding and not being able to see my pup, I finally asked for someone to please tell me what my pups prognosis was so that I could make a decision on how to proceed with the costs. The vet came out at this point and said she was the reason why the estimates were not accurate because she had misunderstood what my budget was and that she thought that my pup had a 70% chance of recovery making it a worthy investment for her care. While she is setting there telling me this, the tech comes out and tells me my pup died. How can a pet with a 70% recovery rate suddenly within a minute be dead? I truly believe she had already died and that they were attempting to get more money from me and that was why they refused to bring her to a room for me to see. Im pretty sure had I agreed and paid the costs, I would have gotten a call in the middle of the night with the bad news with my pocket book and heart both taking a beating. Either way, I unlike everyone else who had critically ill pups who died that day, was unable to be with my pet when she passed due to the incessant pursuit of money.

I had to take my Standard Poodle there last Sunday who was very ill and still is. This facility had the most kind and compassionate employees. They were very thorough in checking him and unfortunately for us he has a very serious condition know as Evans Syndrome. They took excellent care of him until I was able to transfer him to his regular vet. I also had to take another pet to be euthanized a few months back again they took her right in and did what was necessary to relieve her misery quickly. I would give them more than five stars if it were possible. I thank them again for all they have done for us!! Bill and Chris Brykalski Carson sends his love and says thank you!

The staff has always been wonderful, they are accommodating and understanding. They have seen all of my animals for several instances, from a male cat with a UTI, to a pug eating chocolate. The vets on staff have been incredibly thorough in their explanations of the situation and treatment. The techs have been attentive despite their stress. We also brought our senior kitty here to be put down and they made this incredibly difficult time just a little bit easier. My partner and I have only been able to sing their praises. Please note that wait times vary, sometimes you walk right in and go back, other times its a 2+ hour wait, and thats okay! Its an Emergency Vet, you cant expect anything else, especially when animals in critical condition come first! Please call ahead, if your situation is critical, they will make getting your baby back and seen a priority! Thank you so much!!

All the staff was super sweet and understanding of our concerns. They treated my baby very well and I knew he was in good care. I appreciate them letting me see him before he was admitted for overnight stay. After waiting an hour and half in the waiting room, they told us our cat with urinary issues couldnt be seen because they had to tend to a procedure. Why not tell us that from the start instead of leaving us waiting? Why not have more than one doctor? All other emergencies are on hold because you have to do a procedure? What if theres another emergency but the one doctor is busy doing a procedure? Lost and an hour and a half of my time, put my cat through unnecessary stress for nothing, this place need to get it together

Our fur baby was sick, we knew that time for him to go to heaven was near. When we got there he was looked at right away. The vet lady came in and after examining him she delivered the bad news as we could clearly see he couldnt get up anymore. Our fur baby passed away that night and they made us feel like they were part of our journey of letting our fur baby go. A couple of days after we get a card from them giving us their condolences. Today, I got the call that my fur babys ashes were ready to be picked up. I cried on the way home. I recommend them, because they took great care of our fur baby on his last day and were with us every step of the way till we left the office without him.

But with that being said ahead of us a few animals was seen as non emergency!!! Very disappointed. Found a vet online that was open and made the call and they seen my dog immediately. Unless your animal is about dead don t expect them to get your pet in a room quickly.

The front desk could benefit from an additional staff member. Having one up there meant a very complicated and slow check in/check out. Seems like too much for the one individual to handle, which seemed to come off rude but we understand how streasful the enviroment can be. All things considering the technicians and vet were wonderful, and once we got back into a room things were fairly quick and easy. They do not offer military discount, which the Killeen ER clinic offers which was dissapointing, especially since the Killeen clinic is closed and we had no other options.

They anticipated our needs and understood the fear and sadness we were experiencing. We are filled with immense gratitude for your compassionate and caring hearts. My daughter and her husband had the worst experience last night. Their car Pete had suddenly became I ll So they took their baby to this place and after the vet did a quick check of Pete they were told he had time and left to wait almost three hours in the waiting room. The whole time Pete is wailing in pain . My daughter tried to give information to the vet but she ignored her. Only after her husband demanding to talk to the vet did she listen. But barely. Rather she was irate and shouting and saying she would not be paid anyways and people like tge are the reason there are not many vets because of patients like her. My daughter is a surgical nurse at Scott in white. She called me in tears. Her baby died and the people at this place did not even tell her why. The irate doctor shouted this is wrong and this is wrong while putting check marks on some piece of paper. This is so horrible. Doctors are supposed to save lives and be compassionate. Not allow a life to die without even helping with pain only to shout at the peopl who just lost their beloved pet! Pretty sure this could get her license . No doubt this lady is in the wrong field of work

Dr. Powell and the staff at this clinic were nothing but kind, patient, friendly, and supportive during my visit! I have a newly adopted kitten who had stopped eating and became lethargic, I had called numerous vets who couldn t get us in last minute and referred me to this clinic which I am more than happy about. I first called before coming in and the reception staff was patient and spoke with me with me so kindly and told me to head on in, upon arriving it was a quick and easy check-in process and they took her back to get her vitals right away. Understandably we had a little bit of a wait because we were a level 3 patient so no outright emergency, but they allowed me to wait in my car and came out to get me when the room was ready. Dr. Powell is super friendly, communicated and explained everything to me in a very calm demeanor and broke things down in a way a normal pet owner would understand, and was quick and efficient with her exam on my kitten. Once she was seen by Dr. Powell they quickly did her testing and got me out the door with the meds that I needed and very detailed instructions on what to look for in the next 48hrs and when to come back if needed. I am so grateful got the clinic and the staff, having a calm and supportive experience made the whole situation so much less stressful and helped so much. If I could use Dr. Powell as our normal vet I absolutely would!

After all the wait time I decided to leave , I didnt want to deal with her and my dog was growling at her. She didnt growl at any of the other 3 employees she interacted with just Dr. KNAPP !!! They had a respectable triage and since my sweet girl s injuries weren t life threatening we were there for a while. The time flew by thanks to great conversations I had with Ty. I had a vet tech come and check on my girl several times while we were waiting. Fast forward to being seen. We were seen by Dr. Twining. He was extremely kind and thorough in the examination. He listened to my concerns and even helped me with an unrelated issue my pup was having. I left feeling like the staff was family and wishing they were a primary vet so I could take my sweet girl back. They gave me the peace of mind and support I needed throughout the entire visit.

I recently had an experience that I can t even imagine someone else going through so I figured I would put it out there my 20-year-old Chihuahua needed to be put down. I was devastated of course by myself pulled up to the center and from the moment I pulled up, I knew I should ve just ran away right there from the beginning I had told them my little baby girl had not ate in five days or drink anything so she was spicy hydrated, and she was gonna be very very hard to get an IV, so I please have the position come in and do it because my bed was not available and she had a hard time just getting routine bloodwork prior day she would not go get the position and proceed to stick my little dog foot causing new pain right before we knew she was gonna get asleep. I told her to stop still we re not the doctor took my baby girl out of the room to the back , she came back she had an IV but I don t know what she endures and then when the physician came in and gave her the medication that s what it is but I felt like there was really no emotions. No empathy I was crying so hard that when it was done, the tech came in and said you need to stay with the body until it s relief which ended up being a big big mistake. That s not true you leave them there I Was also told that I would be refunded the holding fee since I personally called the Crematorium and had them pick her up. There was no holding. I also was told to take her sweater and blanket and I was crying at the time and said I did not want her to be cold in the refrigerator all alone so please leave her baby sweater on in her blanket comes to find out they did not do that. They put it in a bag and listed it with the name of the Crematorium owner Took it off of her like I did not want them to do and it was the most horrible experience of my life and I don t wish that upon anyone even if you don t do that behind the doors, you act like you care and you act like it s important to you because it was the most important thing in my life and I lost her that day, and this was devastating till this day I still have not received my refund for the holding of 171 and I have not even got a phone call about my experience and this is the second review that I have placed so please don t So come your baby to any of this there is a place it s a hospice veterinarian that will come to your house for the exact same price and do it in your own home and I m sure the most respectful ever because that s what they do. They re cost this comfort for your animals. Please don t make the same mistake I did. If I could leave a zero star I would, but it doesn t let you

I knew when I loaded up my sweet boy in the car, he likely wasnt coming home with me. I took him to Animal Emergency Center to see what I could do for him to ease his pain. When I got there, they kindly helped me get my dog inside as I had my 2 kids with me. The staff was super kind and caring from the second we got there the tech explained what they would do and then sent the vet in. He came and sat on the floor with us and asked questions about my boy while he examined him he asked about his life and I knew he genuinely cared he wasnt just talking. He told me he could run tests to confirm if I wanted but my fears were right he had a tumor in his tummy. I knew then I had to make a choice and I chose to let him go and be pain free. The vet explained how the process would work and asked me how much I wanted my kids around. I asked if they could be there while he was sedated but not when he received the medication to put him to sleep. The receptionist got paper and pens and sat with my kids and colored so I could be there to say goodbye to my boy. The vet thanked me for being so brave and not letting my dog suffer. We had over 10 yrs of loving him, and I was so thankful for that. The choice was easy knowing he was in pain but so hard to let my best bud go. We opted to have him cremated and brought back home to us. He came back in a beautiful box with his name on top, with a card and a few other things. I had what I initially thought was a great experience here staff was super sweet to my cat, Ducky, and were very personable. We came in because Ducky had some pretty seriously burned paw pads. They wrapped the wounds, including one that was infected, and told us not to touch them for 3 days. $540 bill, by the way! Oh well, at least my cat will be better. Well, three days later we remove the bandages and the infected paw is swollen 5 times its normal size and had been leaking green and yellow fluid inside the bandage for the entire 3 days. We rushed to a different emergency vet and they inform us that wrapping paw pads with wounds as bad as hers is counterproductive and made her infection way worse. Essentially, the tight dark, moist environment that the wraps created was just an open invitation to bacteria. And on top of that, why on earth would I be instructed to keep these bandages on for 3 entire days?! Shouldn t bandages be changed regularly? How long had her paw been so swollen and infected and I had no idea?! Awful awful advice. This other vet only cost us $140, versus the $540 we paid for Ducky s condition to only become worse. I am extremely frustrated and disheartened that my sweet Ducky has to go through this pain for longer than necessary if I had just gone to a different vet the first time. I have no doubt that people have great experiences here very sweet staff. I am just very disappointed with how things turned out for us.

Honestly this place is pretty awful, And I don t just say that out of grief. I brought my dog here in January out of concern for his cough. The receptionist was beyond horrible to be honest. She was so rude, zero regard for the heavy emotions I was feeling. This vet charged an arm and a leg and preyed on every single emotion you could be experiencing as a pet owner. And on top of that, diagnosed my dog with a fungal infection in his lungs and gave him an antibiotic. Antibiotics don t treat a fungal infection.. Now fast forward to August, my dog is in worse condition. I take him to a vet in Belton where they tell me those medications they prescribed wouldn t have helped my dog at all. So they give me fluconazole for my dog. And now Saturday the 26th, he died. Again, the receptionist is terrible. Only offered some sympathy after I paid a $700 deposit. I mean it s basically just a money grab knowing how vulnerable people can be in the situation of distress. I m so angry at this hospital, I m sure there are good vets on staff. But these past two times have been horrible. My dog could ve healed had they sent me home with the right medication in January. On top of his suffering, they gave him TWO doses of Lasix within an hour!! That DRIES your kidneys, I already informed them he had no control over his bladder and that he hadn t ate. They overdosed him. The one positive thing I will say about them is that most of their vet technicians offer a lot of sympathy and kindness. Except there was one technician that had a disgusting grin on her face as she s giving my dead baby back to me to hold before he s sent to be cremated. This vet is diabolical. They truly only care about money. They were holding my dog almost dead in their arms until I paid that $700 for them to start CPR. They also partner with Cherished memories if your dog does pass away and you decide to cremate them. The bag put together by them was wonderful. I d do anything to have my baby back, the mistake they made was unforgivable. Seeing him fade away in a matter of months with no explanation because I thought I was doing the right thing by getting him that medication broke my heart. I hope I never have to revisit this place in the future.

We recently moved to the area, and unfortunately, my beloved schnauzer has a history of acute pancreatitis episodes. When he had a sudden flare-up on a Saturday, I was filled with worry, especially since most vet offices were closed. Desperate for immediate help and unable to stay to watch him due to travel plans, I discovered this amazing emergency veterinary clinic. They welcomed us without hesitation, providing prompt attention to my dogs condition. Not only were their prices reasonable, but the vet also genuinely listened to my dogs medical history and previous treatments, showing great expertise and care. The entire staff exhibited a level of compassion and dedication that left a lasting impression on me. I am truly grateful for their exceptional service and would wholeheartedly recommend this clinic to anyone in need of outstanding immediate veterinary care.

Above all else, every single person in this facility were incredibly kind and caring. Not only to me and my family, but to our pup of 10 years. We unfortunately had to take our pup twice. The first time we were seen right away. The 2nd time we had to wait a few hours. Just depends on what s going on that night, wait times certainly vary. The 2nd visit, someone constantly checked in on us and assured us they would get to us as soon as they could. We made the decision to put our pup to sleep after having an honest and informative discussion with the vet about our options and our pups current state/outlook. They were very respectful of our decision and took care of our girl til the end and beyond. My family received a beautiful personalized card from the staff in the mail and the service they used to care for our pups remains handled everything with just as much care and compassion. Thank you to everyone in this facility for all you did for our Izzy. PS to anyone who reads this, please be kind to these folks. We were scared for our pup too when we came in. We certainly weren t expecting to have to put her to sleep that night. They are doing the best they can and they do it with such compassion. Just something to keep in mind.

When your pet needs emergency care, this is a good option. Satisfaction may depend on who is on duty. All of the veterinarians are qualified. Everyone likely means well, but some Vet Techs are far superior in their ability to triage and administer care than others. This can lead to what appears as uneven interactions ranging from tender loving to man-handling. Ive experienced a mix bag of care providers and suspect the uneven interactions are due to personnel who normally work day shift elsewhere are worn down trying to work intermittent night shifts

Under the circumstances, the reason for my visit was not planned or a pleasant one. I had to make a very hard decision for my little girl (Paris-Ana) that I had for 18 years. From the moment I walked into the Animal Emergency Center, the staff was comforting and supportive. The entire staff did everything possible to try and ease the pain and very sympathetic. They treated and handled Paris-Ana with such care and compassion. The center took care of all the after arrangements, which helped out tremendously. Once I received Paris-Ana back, I was truly amazed on how they put her to rest. They gave me peace of mind and lifted my spirits. In closing, the entire team at the center was wonderful and I can t thank them enough Thank you all from the bottom of my heart and you all are truly amazing! Sincerely Jackie

Absolute worst experience in my life with emergency vet care. We arrived and our dog was dying of heart failure. All we wanted was to have him put to sleep humanely so he wouldnt suffer. Instead we stood in the hall way for over 30 minutes waiting for someone to help us, and our dog suffered, gasping for breath, dying in our arms with our children crying around us. To have to watch our dog suffer was the absolute worst and there was no reason for it. I will never recommend this emergency center to anyone.

End of life for a small Yorkie with labored breath needing to cross the rainbow bridge, the vet knew exactly what she was seeing and was very kind and compassionate about next steps along with her whole team. They took the time to be gentle yet quick to help end the suffering. They didnt try to ask us for unnecessary tests and imaging they respected our wishes and with the dogs current condition the likelihood of her coming back from it would only prolong her demise. This is what I remember from vets as a kid growing up. It was all about the welfare of the animals and not the lining of somones pocket. The confidence and compassion this vet had was higher beyond a five star review last night.

They ll tell you one thing, and turn around and say oh we had to use it for this and that. I picked my dog up, the vet states everything went well, they didnt use the miscellaneous charge, which was $100, then a few days later they call back to say oh we had to use it for this and a darn cone for $21 something dollars. I was told to Bring my dog in, and they can get everything started and if stable we could transfer my angel to my regular vet. When I got there, the doors were locked, and lights were out, and I had to call vet tech to open the door. The Veterinarian and vet tech looked like they just woke up. The veterinarian said they stop seeing patients at 715 am unless the are dying. I was told Banfield is open at 7 am. Little did I know that the physician doesn t get there tell 0800, and my dog would be put in a cage until the physician is ready to see him. I didn t know that even though your vet clinic opens at 7 am. The doctor saw him pretty quickly, got bloodwork and X-ray, blood work, and he crashed. They did CPR, but it didn t work. He died. I am angry and absolutely devastated. The emergency vet didn t do anything except ramble back and forth with the vet tech about what clinics were open. The vet didn t even check Bohdi out . Why would you advertise your clic open til 8.

Go to Round Rock ER or anywhere but here. These people arent interested in treating, they stand around with no sense of urgency and are generally lazy or clueless, or just heartless...Not sure which. They immediately asked if we wanted to treat or euthanize, (not sure why Id bring my animal to the vet if I didnt want her treated and NO I would NOT like to euthanize my dog before youve even assessed or explained to me whats going on). The other vet we left here for was shocked to see they did the bare minimum. SHOCKED. My husband stayed in the room to see the near 4K estimate, they were wanting to hospitalize her but werent thoroughly going over any of the information or causes. We found a different ER and they immediately had her on a gurney, treated with meds and an iv and bloodwork spinning before even coming in to see us. Her hospitalization was 1/3 of what these guys quoted us, even on the high end it wouldve been half. Ive been here twice with 2 different animals and they are just downright neglectful, thankfully my dog survived unlike my cat. Go anywhere else that you possibly can. They also repeatedly call HER a HE. They took the time to look up our names in their records to reply to this review but still cant get that one right and couldnt during our visit either. Theyre oblivious.

The entire staff was very professional and had good character. The male assistant that helped was very good at explaining everything to us. He came in with 2 different billing and treatment plans gor us to choose from, both with follow up recommendations for my own Vet and reassuring instructions on where we were with how my dog was at that time and moment. We were able to leave their more comfortable with the situation and follow up with our Vet the next day and our dog was back to herself and great within a few.more days later. We felt very lucky to have this clinic close by when we had a minor emergency after a dog fight. The technician, Mike, was kind and friendly and genuinely seemed to care about his patients. The receptionist was friendly and helpful when I called to make sure we could be seen, and we were seen quickly after we arrived. I hope you dont need emergency vet care, but if you do I would definitely recommend Animal Emergency Center of Temple-Belton.

To try and force a AKC champion dog or any dog to get spayed is totally unacceptable. Not every breeder is horrible. This place charges $100 just to walk in thier door $400 for Xrays And $3500 for C-section plus a unknown price for a mandatory spay or they will not do the surgery and just let your dog die with the whole litter if you cant afford it. They have no regard for costumers feelings and just let you go on your way to try and figure things out yourself. So, we went to WACO EMERGENCY CLINIC is the way to go. They are reasonable for an emergency clinic. Awesome service on a Sunday night midnight. With your dogs well being first but you are not left out of the respect either.

Things dont always go our way, and sometimes the hardest decision has to be made. I have to say a very hearthfelt thank you to the staff who were very understanding and compassionate and treated our family member with kindness, dignity, and gentleness both before and after, letting us say goodbye and being with him so that he knew he was loved as he passed and his pain ended.Thank you for making a difficult time easier to bear.

I cannot say enough praise for Animal Emergency Center of Temple/Belton. We were new to town and didn t have our regular vet and it was a Sunday. Dr. Jones and the vet techs were beyond kind and compassionate. And although cost is difficult to talk about when your beloved pet s life is ending, the price was extremely reasonable. They even sent a sympathy card the following week.

I dont know how to do the 1/2 star thing. So 3 and 1/2 stars actually. The staff was friendly and attentive. But the tech was covered in cat hair, and my kid had a very bad reaction. There was also the 100$ fee just to walk in the door. So on top of what ever your bill is not including meds. You might pay a hefty price for the visit. But I believe they have a payment plan option. Overall I would only take the animal in if its an actual life or death situation. And your regular Drs office is not open the next day, or they are not an emergency center.

This was the worst experience I ve had at a vets office! We waited 3 plus hours for them to keep saying, you re next. We ended up leaving with nothing being done. I could say so much about how bad this experience was let this review save you time and money. Don t go here!
