The sushi, tempura, Ramen, bento box, is fantastic. The service is terrible and this is the second time I have had a problem. The 1st time I ordered sushi (spider roll) which is amazing. I ordered 2 rolls. The lady brought the 1st roll along with other food we had ordered. We continued waiting for the 2nd roll. When I asked about the 2nd roll, the Lady insisted they had already gave it to us. My mom and I, insisted they did not. My fault for not taking a picture of my food to count the sushi. We ended up letting the issue go, and however still charged for 2 rolls. (I did not TIP) Today, 8/18/24, Im Literally in the parking lot in front of Resturant writing this review. I ordered our food: (4 year old son and I) miso soup, tempura vegetables, spider roll and rock shrimp which I thought, was tempura shrimp because of the picture. I was looking at on the menu and did not see the words Tempura shrimp and made an error in ordering the wrong things while pointing at the tempura shrimp. We never received the tempura vegetables. However the Tempura shrimp, Rock Shrimp and later the spider roll. This other young girl, not our server came up to me with shrimp with sauce all over it and I was like, what is that? I didnt order that. She stated, Rocky shrimp. My mistake I guess. I explained the error and they responded, okay okay, on how I thought rocky shrimp was the tempura shrimp. The waitress I guess part owner or wife of the guy who makes the sushi, who was standing by the register I. The back of the restaurant looked angry and whole attitude changed. She did not bring me any refills on my iced tea, made faces, when I asked for napkins more napkins, by the way are rationed like the apocalypse happened and the world depends on napkins to survive. I apologized, again for the error, to lighten the mood because I felt uncomfortable which her attitude and service. To be fair, when I ordered Rocky Shrimp She saw me point to the picture of shrimp tempura. I felt it was an opportunity for her to take advantage of my cluelessness on what I had ordered to charge me for something else. I wasnt going to eat what I did not order or wanted and I feel, she assumed I would feel obligated to take it. Again, I wont eat or order anything that and not know what it is. She just said Yeah tossed only 2 napkins ( which are paper thin like Scotts tissue paper. She was so rude, bad attitude, and written all over her face. I, also ordered another spider roll because I felt bad. I still tipped 15% despite the horrendous customer service and terrible attitude. ***Make sure you know what youre ordering or the rest of your service will be terrible and they will not give you any refills and give you stink eye if you ask for anything else. Geez! it was a mistake and felt taken advantage of.

Japanese food served by Chinese ppl. Rolls werent bad but udon was bland and bento box was like eating rubber. Chicken was very chewy. Overcooked shrimp. Good eggrolls though. Service was nice but because of food, I wouldnt recommend.

Food came out quickly and in the right order, hot food was up to temperature, sushi rice was seasoned and sushi was rolled perfectly, tempura was incredibly light and crispy and perfectly golden. Good portions. Katsu don came with shiitake. Authentic. Great service. Will come again!

Forgot how amazing some of the food here is. Used to come here for years for lunch. Skip the ramen. It s not their best effort. The tempura is all incredible and not oily, the sushi is high quality and fresh, the fried rice is awesome, and the atmosphere is small and cozy. Definitely going to come here more often

First I wasn t greeted by any of the employees and the restaurant was empty. Def the worst sushi experience ever. I ve had way better sushi. It tasted extremely fishy, and I was scared the seafood was not fresh due to the strong fishy scent. I could not finish the meal, and therefore wasted it. The miso soup was very scary looking. It looked like it was made from packets, not fresh at all. I also discarded the soup. Never coming here again! Horrible experience 0/10.

I got sushi and pork ramen. The sushi was 5/5 very delicious and excellent presentation. The ramen was 3.5/5 it had very great presentation but personally I felt like it was lacking a but of flavor. I am definitely going to give it another chance though. Overall the food was good and the environment was quiet.

Great Sushi and Tapioca place!! My family and I have gone there since many years ago and are never disappointed. My favorite are the Kensington Roll and the avocado roll but there is a variety that you can try. Presentation is always good and the service is great. Go early if you want to make sure you will get a table as this us a small place. Great Tapioca as well.

Ichiban is one of the best sushi places Ive ever visited and one of the best Japanese Restaurants in Houston! Everything is well-prepared and presented at decent prices. Some of my personal favorites are the Chefs signature roll, Texas Ranger Roll, and the Lisa Crunch roll. All of their Handrolls/Temaki are stellar. My friends and colleagues enjoyed the salmon, tuna, tobiko, and tamago nigiri as well as the Chicken Katsu Don. This restaurant also has such a cozy shop vibe!

Definitely great Japanese cuisine. Not the best Ive had and my sushi seemed a bit warmer than I like it, but these were little things and everything was okay. This probably was due to how incredibly tiny it is in the restaurant. Our party of about 10 (had a baby and some young ones too) took up about half the restaurant. Plus there was a party of 6 and a couple in there at one point. Only room was the sushi bar and I think another table. It wasnt cramped, but very intimate, and it did get a little warm in there. We went in late Winter so no idea how this will feel full tilt Texas summer, but I can guess it wouldnt be as comfortable. Besides the size, the service was immediate and responsive. Its Japanese custom to raise a hand and say something if you need service, but they also did a great job of the western style of observing the state of the table. We also almost forgot the babies bottle and they noticed immediately. Id say try and catch this place in the off hours and definitely call ahead.

This was our first visit here at Ichiban my mom and I originally came for the poke bowls but when we saw the the menu the poke bowl went out the window lol. Incredibly disappointing experience. Service was appalling and the quality of food was mediocre at best. I guess our server was having a bad day or something, but she had an air of annoyance the entire time we were being served and answered most of my questions with hostility (I wasnt exactly drilling her with questions either, I had just asked her the portion size of what I was ordering). Really bad attitude, despite me being polite. I was also upcharged for my dish and the extra charge was only taken off after I brought it to her attention and asked to see the menu to verify the price, even though she had still insisted the price was right. The food was also quite disappointing. I ordered the ikura and the eggs were super tiny and lacked flavor. Definitely lacking quality in terms of the sushi. Our appetizers were not bad. All in all I would definitely never recommend this place, total vibe killer. There are tons of great places to eat in Sugar Land, give them a chance instead.

Hubby and I ate here for the first time today and it is definitely going to be added to our list of places we eat frequently! The restaurant was clean and the staff very friendly. The Bento box we ordered was amazing (shrimp was the best). We also had takoyaki, fried pork dumplings, and smoked salmon sashimi as our appetizers because we were starving! I added on the Ichiban roll because we make it a habit when eating at new places to order whatever is named after the restaurant. It was delicious! I cant wait to try their noodles next.

Ichiban Sushi and Tapioca is a phenomenal restaurant! The facility is clean and the service is good. Also, the portion size for the meals are large, which I appreciate for sushi. I would definitely come back and recommend this spot to my friends.

The sushi was really good. We good three rolls, which were medium-sized, and an appetizer of dumplings. The dumpling sauce was my favorite part! They didnt have sake, unfortunately, but enjoyed the experience nonetheless!

Sushi was good, teas was OK, but the services was just not good at all. I had a party of about 15 ppl so we filled most of the place. I would think they would be the most attentive and welcoming for bringing them that amount of ppl on a Thursday. The waitress was asking if she was doing us a favor by serving us on top of that she kept rushing us. We could have consumed much more.

Im from NC and found this place based on reviews and they definitely earned 5 stars from me. The Sushi was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend the Houston roll if you want a little kick in your sushi. The service was also very polite!

Aside from the useless young waitress who refused to acknowledge me or speak (especially after i saw her see me waiting), but served everyone else, all the OTHER staff were friendly and the food was great. Very tasty. Will return to try more of the menu.

The best Japanese food that I have tried I will recommend it it is a little bit expensive but it is worth a try 100% the plates are giant and the bowl of ramen is so to it is worth its price 101 % for me it costed 107 dollars but it is still worth the drinks are awesome they also have desserts and they are good The mango sushi was really good I recommend it.
