Food is good here. That s why we come here. However, the waiting time is ridiculous. We are watching our noodles sitting next to the kitchen for about 20 min but no one picks it up. And both me and my husband are finished eating our food left my son waiting for his food. We have to try so hard to get our server s attention to let her know our noodle is ready. BTW, it wasn t even that busy. The problem is they only have two waiters. Of course it is not the waiter s fault because they are serving more tables than they should. But as individual customer, it ruined the experience.

Service was fine, cleanliness of the place was fine nothing over the top, but the food was horrible, the beef was overcooked not by a little but it tasted rancid, the sushi was ok at best put together like a roll straight from HEB but the soup tasted rancid for mine and the other 3 people I tagged along with, they all said it tasted rancid in a way and we all ordered different foods weve had before at other places, foods horrible, not coming back after that visit

Xian has the best sushi Ive had in San Marcos. But a lot of the other stuff isnt great, like the lunch specials and some of the ramens Ive had. In my experience, the sushi bar is surprisingly excellent - we get the alligator and crunch rolls every time we stop in for sushi.

We were driving through San Marcos and chose Mexican food, but the establishment ignored us. texas weather had changed, and we decided to try Xian Sushi and Noodles. Where we were greeted at the door and our server sat right away server and brought us water and asked if we had been there before and saw my blanket and suggested hot tea and explained the difference and brought it out which warmed us up. He was very polite and answered all our questions about Noodles and types of eggs, which was a soft boil. Hot tea delicious we ordered two different ones the lavender and sweet peach and a Dr Pepper. The food was fresh and delicious, hit the spot. 2 orders SHOYU RAMEN SOUP one with triangle other with vermice noodles (big bowl) enough for leftovers. Order of fried rice and angry crab. We will be stopping here again on future road trips. Im not sure of the bill my son paid. He was just concerned about me liking service and food. Im GeneX, meaning old school customers service has to be on point. Sorry, there are no photos. I was too concerned about getting warmed up and silence noise from tummy.

Xian I love your food. I always order from here but today i was disappointed. I ordered the stir fry vermecilli with shrimp. My food was not cooked right. I can tell whoever did it was in a hurry. I found an onion peel in my noodles and the shrimp was raw. I was so disgusted. even the noodles had big chunks and where are my peppers? This is a first for me. I m paying $15 for this to not say anything.

Honestly pretty good. I ordered one of the appetizers (it was shrimp, asparagus, sweet potatoes, and something else. I cant remember the name, but it was really really good. I also got an earl grey tea (plain) and it was also amazing. The waitresses were all very kind of patient as I waited for a date that never showed. Honestly very hospitable. I will definitely be going by myself or with my roommate again. Kid-friendliness: Its a good place to go with kids as I saw numerous families dine in while I was there. All seemed to be very respectful of the space they were in.

The service is usually a little slow, but thats because they, like everyone else, are short-staffed. Would you want to work for unappreciative customers all day long for little to no pay? I didnt think so. The food is always good, though, so Im willing to wait.

The beef is tough so be wary. The BBQ pork buns are not sweet, rather theyre a dull lightly salty flavor. The shrimp chive dumplings are great, and so are the shumai. The noodles are the bomb for sure. The sushi is small even as a roll received, last time it tasted like the smell of a kitchen rag unfortunately. The wait staff in the restaurant are amazing servers, so yay!

The shrimp and chive pancakes were bussin. I wish they came with a house soy sauce to really push forward the dough of the pancake. Id come back for these again. Crispy outside, chewy inside, with a perfect amount of filling. The soup dumplings were good, but nothing special. I got the shoyu ramen but returned it (Absolutely no flavor. I should have known better than to order Japanese ramen at a Chinese restaurant), and got the Dan Dan Noodles instead... with the hand made fettuccine style noodle... Yo, 1st of all, the noodles were fresh, deliciously chewy, and prepared to perfection. The soup had so much intense flavor that it was a spicy, tangy, sour, party on your tongue. The out of control sushi roll was worth the try as well. Id recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Chinese Dumplings, soups, and Sushi. Did I mention the noodle are hand made!! Kid-friendliness: They have high chairs and booster seats.

We explained to the waitress that Im allergic to soy. She even checked on a specific dish to see if it contains soy. And when she brought my roll, it was on the same plate as my husbands roll, which had a soy based sauce on top of it. Mone was a sweet potato roll, and the sweet potato was so hard underdone that I could not eat the roll.

I ordered delivery through DoorDash. Service was great but immediately began vomiting and having diarrhea. I talked to door dash about this however they wanted medical documentation for a refund. I was unable to drive myself to an urgent care nor afford an ambulance and didn t think to take a picture of my feces or vomiting. I had ordered the tofu and fried rice, miso soup, and vegetable rolls. This used to be my favorite place but now I am very disappointed in the quality of the food. After all this I was unable to get a refund or even some compensation. I m very upset on the way that this was handled and do not recommend eating here. If the tofu was bad I can t imagine the quality of the meat.

Clean and fresh. Probably the best Asian food in San Marcos. After living in China for a year, its refreshing to find some authentic food. Highly recommend. Update Oct 2023. Unfortunately service has changed. After eating there tonight, the saki was burnt/old/nasty and the waitress refused to accept the fact. If a customer has an issue with the food/drink, you need to make some form or correction, not argue with them.

A great find on our way up to Austin from San Antonio! It was all cooked to order, presented well and very fresh. I knocked down a star for the price - weve been to very similar establishments and gotten more dim sum for the same dollar point. However, the soup and lunch specials were priced well, tasty, and we enjoyed everything! Our server was friendly and attentive.

While several other tables were attended to, myself and my friends were constantly waiting for our server to approach our table. Everything was properly chilled, took 35 minutes from order to delivery and I enjoyed every bite! The Takoyaki was hot, fluffy and the sauce was delicious! I could have used less mayo on the Hardee Roll but the flavor was good, lots of fish inside. The Treasure Island was great! Tiny bites of different, fresh fish with sliced avocado and a sweet dipping sauce. It was a little pricey for lunch but Id do it again.

This is definitely a must visit place for trying delicious sushi and ramen. I suggest ordering both! The shoyu ramen soup, alligator sushi roll, and topped with the Hana pineapple sake bottle is my recommendation for a terrific meal and evening. Gotta bring friends and share your sake together for a pleasant evening. Everything was very relaxing, service was adequate but could definitely improve with drink refills and circling to check on things after being served. Atmosphere could improve as well with more lighting and a real place for the toddler seats, being sat next to them was kind of annoying since I had to get up and out of the booth seat with them in front next to a wall. Overall 9/10.

Had lunch there last year and the Dan Dan noodles were so good. Tried again today and the noodles were a mix of types (? using up some leftovers), the meat was dry and very obviously not freshly prepared in any way, and I could get more heat out of a plain bottle of bleh chili oil from HEB. No hint of Szechuan pepper at all. I was hungry and looking forward to this, but I paid and left after just a few bites.

I dont think students would find this as affordable but it is a nice place for parents to treat their kiddos. They have a variety of food from dim sum, noodle broth, dan dan, sushi and bento boxes on weekdays. Lunch hour on weekdays are definitely more affordable for college kids. However, the food was amazing. We ate quite a bit but I only managed to take the first two dishes only.

We ordered Red Dragon, Sumo Roll and Hardee Roll. All rolls were delicious, with a lot of fish inside and delicious sauces. As an appetizer we ordered Takoyaki, this dish was good as well.

Food is good but overpriced, they also shoved all my food in a tiny bag so my sushi was warm when it arrived

Wonderful traditional cuisine. We enjoyed every bites. As far as I know the only place here in San Marcos that sells chicken feet. Staff was friendly and helpful. Place was clean. Food cost was average.

As I sit here and write this review, my wife has finished her dinner and I have yet to receive mine. Worst service I ve ever received at a restaurant in my 60 years of eating out. Do yourself a favor and find someplace else this has mediocre food and even worse service.

This place is pretty good, probably the best Asian food in San Marcos! I liked everything Ive tried there so far and my favorite has surprisingly been their General Tsos chicken. The only reason for it not being 5 stars is because we ordered soup dumplings and they all came a little broken, bummer for the price.

Service was great! Everything we had was really tasty and fresh. Everything was made to order. The noodles & spicy edamame were delicious. The sushi was a 7 out of 10 for me. We ordered 5 orders of soup dumplings that had absolutely no soup in them whatsoever which was a huge disappointment due to it being the reason we went there. =( The spicy cucumber was an 8 out of 10. It was a bit soggy but great flavor. Id definitely come back to try new menu items and more of those noodles.

Less than 8 parties in the restaurant, yet it still took 30 minutes to take our order. Waitresses continually visited parties with lots of people but neglected to take care of us. Regardless of the food, it should not take that long to serve guests.

The food is good but the wait was absurd and people got their food before we got ours when we were there way before them. Didnt make sense. Looks like they need more cooks or somthing, idk. Suggest calling it in beforehand if they even have the time to pick up the phone as there was only 1 server /cashier

The tea they brought us had oil floating in it and when we told the waitress she said I don t think it s oil but I ll bring you some more . We promptly got up cancelled our $50 lunch order. When you can clearly see oil floating in your water and they insists it s not that doesn t make me want to trust anything in the restaurant. We also asked for Splenda and she brought regular sugar and sweet and low. They aren t the same either so I don t plan on going to this place again. 1st and last time.

DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!! Save your money please or go to literally ANY other sushi restaurant in San Marcos. I ordered $100 worth of sushi to end up feeding it to my dog who didn t want to eat it either. I order a few rolls and they were alright but definitely not worth $16-18, a pork Katsu that was dry and over cooked and 3 pieces of sashimi. The sashimi was atrocious, it was slimy and smelled like weeks old fish. It was the worst fish I ve ever had in my life. I thought maybe I was being dramatic about the smell when I first opened the container so I took a small bite and threw up. Needless to say I didn t think anyone could possibly ruin my love for sushi but Xian in San Marcos sure did.

Amazing, one of the best Chinese restaurant I ve been to! Decent vegetarian options, but substitutions are allowed. Clean location proximal to TSU. Good staff. But the wait times are ridiculous: around 15-20 mins! Definitely recommend if you re in San Marcos!
