A wonderful exhibit. Very few people were there and I had the opportunity to be guided by one of the Docents. It was a very informative. The exhibit is still growing and it gives you a renewed perspective on an important point in Texas history. Worth a visit.

Small museum that provides good insight on early Texas history. There are a few buildings in a reconstruction of what the village would have been like, too. Note: your Texas State Park Pass does not cover admission to this site.

This, like Washington on the Brazos, is a truly great historical site that is a great way to learn about the early days of Texas pioneers and how our Republic and then state were formed. You can tour the museum and its interactive digital displays to learn about the original colonists of San Felipe de Austin and their occupations and daily lives. Then go outside and walk around the original town site and see the replica buildings and all the detailed work that went into curating this historic site. As a sixth generation Texan whose ancestors on two sides arrived with some of the early colonies in the 1840s, I learned more about what their lives must have been like. Thank you!

Finally found the time to check this out.Not disappointed but impressed with the technology used to allow the visitor to access as much information you want throughout the exhibits. Beware if you do the outside portion and you dont like or take the heat you might want to skip and do on a cooler day. Facility was clean and uokept, and the staff was friendly ,helpful, and knowledgeable. $10 General Admission, but theres discounts available. Stephen F Austin State Park is right across the street and has 50% off discounts available. Presently, it looks like this will end Dec 2024. Outside trail had a natural setting with interesting plants ,insects and ? . Giant grasshopper, walking stick ,mosquito hawks ,saw no snakes but surely there out there .Replica buildings with interesting and informative interiors.

This amazing historical site is located just outside of Sealy. The museum is beautifully done in a way that pulls the whole family back in time. Inside the main building there is a lot of information via touch screen interactive exhibits. The trails outside depict the layout of what was San Felipe de Austin. The cabins are a neat learning experience about the businesses and the towns residents. This is an awesome place to come to get a unique learning experience about Texas history.

Super impressive museum about the early Anglo settlers and enslaved people in Mexicos Tejas. Details of the Texas Revolution were thoughtfully explained with interactive exhibits. The importance of Stephen F. Austin was the focus. The film they showed was informative and kept our attention. The people were extremely nice and welcoming. There is going to be a new exhibit in the Fall and were already looking forward to it.

Our family loves Texas history - our kids are 6th generation Texans. This stop on the Texas Independence Trail is a must-see! Gorgeous, air-conditioned museum, replica village buildings with living history characters and activities, a walking trail in the middle of the old townsite, a cool model tabletop map of the town, and friendly staff make this a must on your way in or out of Houston. As a teen, I helped catalogue items in the JJ Josey store just across 1458 in Commerce Square. What a beautiful complex in the heart of San Felipe - so wonderful to finally see the townsite get the traffic and publicity it deserves given its incredible influence on the Texian revolution.

Features: *Dont forget to collect the Texas Historical Monument passport associated incase visiting for the first time and get it stamped. *Theres enough parking space including for school buses/tour vans/RV trailers with wheelchair accessible parking available next to the entrance. *Typical visiting time takes about 2-4hrs depending on the duration planning to visit. *Doors close at 4pm for the recreated historical village ,make sure you enter by 3pm. *Visitor center has a gazebo and attached restrooms. *Theres another monument with Stephen F. Austin and First store of Texas *It was a great moment to know first capital in Texas existed in here before moving onto Austin,Texas. #HappyVisiting

We thoroughly enjoyed this museum and park and it is a must see for those who want to know more about Stephen F. Austin and the founding of Texas. The museum is new and very interactive. The village wasnt open because they are working on it but it will be nice to come back and see it when it does open.
