I was recommended to Heard & Smith by a Veteran friend. Due to my VA disability. Im starting to keep a very close eye on my case by myself. They dropped the ball big time with not informing me there was some paperwork SS needed me to fill out and send back on a specific date. The law firm even has the envelope the paperwork was supposed to be sent back in. Ive received only 2 letters from SS thank God I have my case workers phone number. My case work told me she mailed me a package to fill out. I told her I havent received anything, well after I called Heard & Smith to give them some follow up information about my appointments. They said let me see if theres anything from SS well they had my package Ive been waiting on for a whole week. It was stamped by Heard & Smith with the same date I called the law firm to give them updated information. Well the email they sent me had a return date for my paperwork to be sent back to SS the next day. Meaning Heard & Smith had my package for a whole week with no call or updates to my case. So yes Im starting to believe theyll try to prolong your case so they can get more money. SS told me in-person my information would be expedited because Im 100% disabled veteran. The law firm claimed they didnt know anything about that but thanks for telling them. Ill be going to drop my paperwork off at SS tomorrow morning. Im very close to dropping them and getting another lawyer.

After 8 years, 3 hearings before administrative law judges and 1 federal court appeal, I just received a favorable decision. H&S was with me from the start and active with all of the appeals. They are not going to be touching base with you unless there is a court date set or some other upcoming event. They did always returned my calls if I had a question. Im thankful for their help and glad they represented me.

They are not organized, you have to do your own leg work as far as gathering up your medical information, you have to wait on hold for 40 minutes to talk to someone. Update: my friend finally had his hearing with the social security administration after over 2 years, after he and I ran around making sure all the medical information was sent to Herd & Smith the ruling was postponed for another 4 to 6 months because they didnt have all the medical documents for the judge. Herd & Smith themselves told me that. The more money you get the more money they get. I want to bet that happens a lot. Do yourself a favor and pick some attorney other than these people.

I dont know how there could be a better firm in this specialty. They answer their telephone promptly and there is only 3 to 5 seconds with the auto attendant that picks up instantly after the first ring. They address any question, and handle the calls with above average professionalism and etiquette.

Wouldn t recommend them for a disability case!!! They don t follow through unless you push them!!! My case is finally moving forward because of me calling in all the doctors for disability!! I called this firm to get help filing my disability first receptionist whats extremely rude I actually live in San Antonio where this Law Firm has an office I tried to ask for someone from San Antonio to take my call said everyone lives in San Antonio then I was transferred the person who I was transferred to did not live in San Antonio but insisted they did long story short they did not live in San Antonio it was a call center Im not sure who helped me or what their credentials were the entire conversation left me feeling and wondering if I could trust this firm

When I got onto Social Security to file for myself, a question was asked if I would like to consult with an attorney. Why not. Within minutes, on a Saturday, I got a call. If you are not aggressive, if you arent comfortable calling the firm to check on the status, dont hire them. They tell you up front, if you want to know the status, you need to call them. My case was difficult with multiple doctors all over Las Vegas. We ended up moving in the middle of filing. Nevada lost my file. Idaho took over. More doctors. First time denial. Two year process with favorable outcome.

Heard and smith handled my disability case for me and I am extremely happy with them and getting my disability approved. If I didn t have them I would have had to start the process over twice. They resubmitted the appeal for me on time which I would ve missed because my depression was pretty bad at the time so I didn t have the energy to do anything. I contracted with this company to help with my disability filing. At first, I thought they would be good because my comprehension in reading is horrible, but they were no help. They give you a portal and during the course of the year I sent several messages asking question, but no one ever responded. I even tried to call but still got no help. So, when I received a letter with a denial from the SSI I was surprised to also receive a letter from them saying they would no longer be handling my case even though there is still an appeal hearing that could be filed. Now I have a new company that is very responsive and have gotten me a hearing date. This company only wants easy money and are not trying to help

I would and do recommend Heard and Smith to everyone I hear is working on a disability claim. They were awesome. They made everything so easy I didnt even have to give some addresses of the doctors, clinics, hospitals or any other place I was seen for medical issues. All I had to do is give them the name in the city and they would have all of the other information they needed, no matter where in the country you are. I was apprehensive about using an out-of-state attorney, but I took my chances and am very glad I did. When it was time to go before the judge, even though their office is in San Antonio, there was an attorney there waiting for me at the social security office in Jacksonville Florida when I walked in. Also, they took less of a percentage than any other company I could find then or any that Ive heard of since, by at least 10%, if not 20% or more. So I have never in over two years, spoken to an attorney. My emails of dr visits, are sent back saying i had things like an MRI when K clearly stated ultrasound in email. Not the first time either. I have been asked for my primary doctor s info a few times. Shouldn t that be in my file. They have NEVER initiated contact w me except for me to sign for them to represent me. When I email them the info, they either wait 4-6 weeks to respond they sent it in or they don t respond to me at all. I have proof of everything stated here many times over! I don t trust that they are actually sending my info to Social Security, so I am now doing it myself! Be very careful. This is not over for me. You get one star because youre receptionist is nice. However, I always seem to get in the new guy no matter what Im doing. I had to do every bit of the legwork for my case myself and some of it I couldnt do without a title the only reason you need these guys is because they have a piece of paper saying there an attorney I did the rest of it myself I had to convince my attorney that I was disabled. I had to set up all the medical portals , and I was not prepared for court. I was only partially approved. And Ive waited two weeks for the attorney to tell me that!I have no idea when Im going to start getting paid but its the holiday so thats more important! I talked to a man name Frank he was so rude. When I said something about my epilepsy he told me no one was not going to help me. He gave me another number to call and said maybe they could help you. And hung up on me when I was asking a question.

They fired me as soon as I told them I was pregnant and I had been feeling like I was being treated poorly since training. A girl had said something about my skin color during the zoom. They made up some bogus excuse about my laptop not working properly (for the reason of me being let go) but my laptop has been working just fine and didn t even ask if I was able to purchase a new one before letting me go which I could have today if that was actually the issue.

Handle my file poorly. Awful customer service. Didnt pay close attention to details. Awful!!! would not recommend this institution for anyone. I have spent the last year and a half giving them details. Giving them documentation. Providing them with Doctor names and resources. They closed my case without warning. Every time I would send over some information they said that they included in my file and they never did. Every time I would call the attorney that would answer had no idea what I was talking about. I wasted a year and a half with this organization. Theyre complete idiots and they waste your time. Seriously no one told me that my case was closed. They just kept saying oh yes well get your information. But they never did. The firm as a whole has very friendly people but the ones that I spoke with are completely incompetent

It took two years for my benefits to finally be approved by the Social Security office. I had submitted the paperwork on my own and had my case denied by the social security office. I was denied for the third time and had given up. Heard and Smith filed an appeal and got me a hearing with a judge. My attorney kept me informed through every step of the process which helped a great deal in relieving my anxiety. The delays I experienced were because of the state I am located in. I cannot say enough about the phenomenal job Heard and Smith did on my case. I highly recommend them!!

I applied for SSDI almost a year ago. I never spoke to an attorney. I received a letter from SS stating they didnt receive my ADL paperwork. I had sent it to this firm 3 months before, so there was a delay in case due to that. I was told it had been faxed but it wasnt received by SS caseworker. I never heard a word throughout the process. Not sure what they do to earn their payoff when a case is approved. Very disappointed.

I have wasted 4 years with these people and still struggling to get my benefits. They lose information, dont review files and have no sense of urgency. Another firm took my case to Federal Court and won, but Lakesha Moore of Heard and Smith fumbled my hearing once again. Thats twice with her representing me and a surprise decision from the judge who is obviously biased. The vocational specialist stated that there were no jobs I could do with all of my impairments, but the judge did not include that in his unfavorable ruling. I trusted Lakesha and she let me down. Run from this firm.

I would think twice about hiring this company my experience was horrible I could not reach them with time sensitive material they will contact me 48 hrs later and when I address it that they are not doing they job to my satisfaction they suggested I find another law firm no good find another attorney

I have yet to receive my husband spousal benefits he died in 2020 iv been homeless had to get a job to pay rent even though I have bipolar depression, PTSD and dont do well with crowds! They have responded to my call. UPDATE: I made this review 6 months ago. I still have not received disability. I am blind with heart failure and kidney failure on dialysis. The dialysis part is in the SSDI bluebook. This is an easy case to win. My advice is if you have a disability you can do this stuff on your own it will take the same amount of time and you save 6 grand.Blame Covid for your terrible service ....It is a convenient time for that
