Before you continue, it should be noted that I have never left a review on a bad dining experience in all my years of life. But tonight was a complete disgrace, and I don t wish for anyone to experience what we did tonight. The missus and I walked in at at 7:20 on a Friday night, expecting a nice dinner to wind down the work week. The vibe was that of a low key night club, with tacky decoration and dim heavy lighting. A unique, but not uncomfortable one. Yet Everything was going smooth until it was time to order. It was about 7:30 at this time. 15 minutes after we ordered, food arrived. Except it wasn t our food, we did not order crispy dumplings, we ordered soup dumpling. The perplexed look I received in return made me question if I had just spoken gibberish. Once that matter was resolved, the woman, who was originally our hostess took them back and we were excited to get our food. Little did we know the worst was still ahead. We promptly waited for 30 minutes, watching dish after dish leave the kitchen to other tables. Our waitress, a woman with shoulder length straight black hair came to ask us if we were waiting on anything, and seemingly seconds later our food came out. Almost as if they forgot about us. Entirely. (They did). The food was okay at best. Upon asking for the check a full hour after being seated I was displeased to find we were being charged for the aforementioned food that we did not order. This is where things take a turn. Management assembles like a scene out of X-men at the host stand to go over a simple billing error when the missus decides to use the restroom. When in the restroom, an unknown individual follows her, knocks on her stall door twice, and leaves. With every other stall being available to use. Extremely unnerving and strange. Then finally, someone who I presume to be management shows up with one of those iPads asking for a 25% tip at the lowest. Seriously? Have some feel. We left unsatisfied and annoyed. We went across the street to McDonalds and it was awesome. Much better service, vibe, and quality of food. Light years better than whatever this was. Props to the mentioned waitress, with the black straight hair. Without her actions, only lord knows how long we would have been sitting there.

I became obsessed with Dashi after trying their pork belly but man, tonight was disappointing. Half their kitchen was down so I took it as a chance to try something new and ordered the duck. It was super overdone and as inedible as it looks. If this was my first time dining with DASHI and I ordered this I would not have come back.

I was impressed by their Kung Pao chicken. It stood out as one of the better versions Ive had, with a flavorful balance and a generous portion size, all at a reasonable price. The food arrived quickly, though the restaurant wasnt very busy at the time. Overall, a satisfying experience that exceeded my expectations.

The food was good, although the numbing effect of the sichuan peppercorn was very mild compared to several other restaurants ive been to. They also must have been short staffed the evening we went because it wasnt all that busy and it took a long time to take our order and even longer to recieve our food. Over all a positive experience.

Great restaurant, I had the ribs (kinda spicy), Inna had Kung Pao chicken (very good), the duck appetizer was delicious. If I had to say something negative, it is that our dishes spent 10-15 minutes to get to our table, from the first person to receive their dinner to the last. Timing matters, and if you have to bring food out first, make sure its the *ladies* food. Also, a gluten free dinner was easy to get. Congratulations! I will go here again... and its quite the drive. Highly recommended!

Food wasn t bad, and it had decent flavor. But everything was cold and they brought the food out pretty fast. We got the burningman noodles which were cold. The soup dumplings were unenjoyable because they were also ice cold. Everything was brought out to order so I m confused why nothing was hot. Also order the spicy crispy chicken which was flavorful and had a kick. I will also say the portion sizes were big. I can appreciate that nowadays.

I absolutely enjoyed our meal. Plates were coming so fast that I didnt even get to take pics of everything. My favorite things were the spicy eggplant and the pork belly. A big surprise was how delicious the boy choy side dish was. They looked plain, but the flavor kissed my taste buds like it was my husband. The fried rice was really good too, they add a lot of veggies to it. Their alcoholic drink menu did not disappoint! I highly recommend this place if you enjoy Szechuan style Chinese food. Oh, and the portions are huge and made for sharing, family style.

Food was extremely disappointing. All the dishes lacked in flavor. Service was great, the waiter knew everything about chinese cuisine and gave us recommendations which was helpful. The environment was too comfortable, almost felt like sitting in a club and soft cushioned chairs at a low table. The lighting is very dark inside. Cashew Chicken: 4/10, too much sauce, tasted like orange chicken, too salty Egg drop soup: 5/10, too many ingredients and foods mixed, lacked color Fried rice: 1/10, did not taste like anything, needed extra hoisin sauce, would not recommend Pork dish: 3/10, so many vegetables, no flavor Buns with meat: 1/10, meat lacked sauce and flavor, bread was decent by itself

Well the outside needs some cleaning up and a more defined front door. The exterior left us guessing. Upon entering it was dark, cluttered and strange. Something out of a 70 s/80 s disco furnishings with chachki s and costume jewelry for sale. Stuffed dinosaurs and just weird stuff on shelves. Looked junky. This should have been a sign to turn around and leave. We were quickly greeted by a very nice gentleman named Ben who was our waiter also. He informed us of the menu items and that they were out of broccoli. Ummm, hey management there s an HEB a block down. If you don t have your supplies and you know your dinner service is about to start, break down and send someone before hand. Menu was limited and a bit confusing. We tried a suggested dish, Kung Pao Chicken and my husband tried their Mongolian Chicken. Pretty much some basic Szechuan dishes. We asked for the Mongolian Chicken to just be steamed, sauce on the side for dietary reasons. Food came fast and Ben was attentive. Well all I can say is .. the steam rice was good! My dish came out first. It wasn t very appetizing looking. It was swimming in a very goopy, extremely oily, somewhat sweet sauce. The peanuts that are usually in Kung Pao dishes were sparse to be generous with that description. I ate a few bites but couldn t continue and just ate my rice. The chicken had an old strange taste. My husband s food came swimming in oil and sauce. Mind you we asked for steamed, sauce on the side. It was inedible it was so oily. He did box it up to go but quickly threw it out finding the nearest trash can when we left. Unfortunately my stomach has been turning in pain since we left for the last 9 hours as I write this. The photo shows what I left on my plate. So enter at your own risk. With the exception of Ben our waiter, this place was a big fail, waste of a lot of money and a huge mistake for me. No clue how this restaurant made it on a top 25 list. It was just awful. Zero stars for food. Five stars for Ben.

What a little hidden Gem. Dashi is one of those places that gives you hope. Legit good Chinese food presented and served with flair and attitude. The wife and I recently moved from Chicago (and also doing a stint in NYC) and had been missing a good Chinese place. We ve been to the usual traditional spots here in SAT, but those places left us wanting. Not any more. Christina (the chef and owner) and her team serve great food in a funky, eclectic environment. We followed Christina s recommendations and tried the soup dumplings, green beans, giant shrimp (good enough to lick the plate) and spicy beef. All great with bold assertive flavors. The cocktails were super fun and tasty. One thing that really surprised me (aside from finding good Chinese food in SAT) was their wine program. Really good wines at great price points. All selected to complement the Chinese food. Unique and thoughtful offering. Also, Christina the owner supports local artists, so the wife bought 4 pieces of killer art. So full marks. Go for the food. Stay for the ambiance. We ll be back for sure. Christina deserves all the business she can handle.

We then had the fire hot pot and they arent kidding about the spice level and it continues to creep up on you and because of this youre only able to enjoy so much. Finally we had the Chicken Lo Mein which was our favorite part of the meal. We have to go back to try other dishes but enjoyed very much of the experience. Having moved from Houston last year, weve been looking for a solid Sichuan restaurant. We finally got around to trying Dashi and were pleasantly surprised. The eggplant dish, garlicky cold noodles, and cumin lamb were outstanding, and the flavor was authentic. We ordered the daiquiri and the spicy strawberry margarita, and both were excellent. The ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were balanced and complimented our dishes perfectly. I took off a couple stars for ambience because the main dining area lighting was a little bright for dinner vibes. The decor was confusing and the playlist was all over the place. We were unclear as to what theyre going for as far as decor. The service was great (Andy served us) and all hands were on deck, which is nice to see at a restaurant these days. Well return soon to try more menu items!

We went to Dashi after seeing it on the list of top 25 restaurants in San Antonio. We had a reservation, and were promptly seated but it took a few minutes for our server to come over(he seemed pretty busy) we ordered the chicken soup dumplings, the pork belly cucumber rolls, the signature extra large shrimp, the cumin lollipops, and the Lo mein with chicken, shrimp and veggies. The shrimp was well cooked with a yummy breading, the lamb chops were yummy and the Lo mein was good too. Our server warned us that the food comes out upon readiness rather than in the tradition three course style. Because of the that, the soup dumplings didn t come out until well into the meal and they were not as hot as we would ve preferred but they were very yummy. Overall, we would recommend this restaurant.

We visited this restaurant to celebrate a coworkers birthday on a Monday evening. The place was busy but not crowded, creating a lively yet comfortable atmosphere. However, the server took quite a while to take our order, which was a bit frustrating. Once our order was placed, the food arrived at a good pace. The chicken dumplings were delicious and the chicken wings were flavorful. We also ordered numerous other items like the noodles, duck, spring rolls, and steamed buns; everything was decent and the portion sizes were shareable. One downside was the service. Our waiter seemed very casual and lacked knowledge about the menu. When we asked for some insight on certain dishes, he mentioned he wasn t sure as he had just rejoined after being away for some time and hadnt been updated on the changes. His responses were often informal, like I don t know, man. Overall, the restaurant had a chill vibe and the decor was distinctly Asian. Despite the service hiccup, I would visit again for the tasty food and relaxed atmosphere.

There is one thing holding Dashi back from being a top restaurant: the front of house. Waiters often appear bored, on their phone and completely inattentive. We waited 20 minutes just for the waiter to come over the first time and ask us if we wanted water. There was a total of 2 other people in the entire restaurant and 3 servers. Food is honestly really good but comes out in a completely random order. I ve gotten desserts before appetizers or mains. Oh and don t even think about your party getting dishes at the same time. I feel like I m inconveniencing the waiters by asking for any service. Might as well get your order to go and have none of these issues.

Sonya our waitress was well versed on the menu and gave great suggestions on the appetizers and entrees. We indulged in the garlicky green beans, eggplant, soup dumplings, fish filet, salt & pepper shrimp with steamed rice. Delivered to the table were huge half size portions, which were fresh and really flavorful. You can definitely tell the chefs know what they re doing in the kitchen and cook the food to order. Sichuan food is one of my favorite cuisines, and it has been hard to find great places since moving to Texas, but this restaurant definitely exceeded my expectations! We came here for dinner on a weeknight, so it was not particularly crowded. It had a welcoming interior, and servers were friendly and very helpful given it was our first time. We got the green beans, which were served in a savory, spicy aromatic sauce with a perfectly cooked texture to the green beans. Exactly the way I enjoy them! We also got a crispy fried dry tofu dish, served with white rice, which was also quite good. It had a strong sichuan pepper corn component, and served with some onions. The tofu was definitely on the crispy side. Dish was great as is, though I wouldnt mind an alternative that is a bit less flash fried. I also have celiac (strict gluten-free), and Im vegetarian, and had a great time dining here. For celiac, they were aware of cross contamination protocols, and they also had a separate menu available for gluten free folk, which was really appreciated! I just really really wish they had a gluten-free mapo tofu as it is one of my favorite dishes, as the online menu was incorrect in listing the mama chens tofu as GF. I understand this though as it is very difficult to find gluten-free doubanjiang. The only strange thing about the restaurant is that the vibes of the decor, demeanor of staff, and the name itself Dashi (which is Japanese, not Chinese), made me think it would be a bit of a strange Asian fusion restaurant. However, I was glad to find the menu and flavors definitely felt authentic and importantly, delicious. I was just visiting San Antonio briefly, but I wish they would open a location in Houston as well as I would definitely become a regular! Dietary restrictions: Separate GF menu available. I would recommend confirming with them about cross contamination protocols if celiac.

We walked in earlier this evening maybe 15 minutes after 7 followed by another couple behind us. When I walked up to the counter the hostess/waitress( older heavier Hispanic lady) was on her phone and didn t realize we were standing there. When she finally looked up she asked if we needed anything and she had an attitude about it. I said yes, we d like a table- she promptly sat us and never came back. There were 6 tables there including us, all of which had their meals with the exception of the couple that walked in behind us. We looked over the menu and waited over 10 mins for her to come back and take our order. After noticing that she d gone ahead and waited on the people that came in after us and walked past us multiple times afterward without so much as taking our drink order- we got up and walked out. These are the type of workers that drive away business for small local places. No one wants to dine out with their hard earned money only to be met with rude or stuck up wait staff. It s extremely unfortunate because we had been looking forward to trying this place given the positive reviews but won t be back after that encounter.

This place was ok . Walked i to a very friendly staff, got there early enough to beat a Friday dinner crowd. The ambiance was a bit dark, though seating was cozy. We ordered spring rolls as an appetizer, but it didn t arrive first. The plate that arrived first was my dinner entree and it was not really even hot. It cooled off even more while waiting for my friends dinner to arrive so we could eat together. Her meal arrived fairly hot with our appetizer. For the price of my plate, I thought I d have leftovers but the only leftover I had on my plate was the mound of onions. They were good onions, but it was just a huge plate of onions with Mongolian beef as the addition. The seared chicken my friend ordered had a great spice level but the after taste was so bitter and strange I couldn t tell what it was. Maybe baking soda? I m not sure. All in all my friend and I decided we wouldn t not come back if it was where someone we were eating with wanted to go, but we probably wouldn t choose it ourselves.

My wife and I always drive past the restaurant and were curious about it. We finally went in and I wish we remained curious. We ordered their wings and fries with Szechuan sauce, the burning man and dumplings. The szechuan sauce on the wings had a peculiar flavor and it made my mouth feel almost numb. The fire man was okay however extremely greasy and the dumplings were average. Just when I thought it was over my wife asked the server for his recommendation on dessert. His response was the fried milk . The dessert felt like it was fried glue.

I was reluctant to post but I think the restaurant needs to know how our experience was and hopefully they will correct their issues. The first time I ate at Dashi it was for a friends birthday and it was amazing! We ordered so much by the end of the meal we had forgotten what we started with. It left me in a beautiful food coma and an ear to ear grin... The second time I went was the complete opposite. The food was so spicy that it completely blew out my pallet. It was uncomfortable to eat and I had to question if our water was carbonated because of the tingling, numbing feeling I got when I took a sip. It was almost painful to eat by the end. Mind you Im born and raised in San Antonio, I like spicy, but I also appreciate flavor. The food was so hard to eat it literally made me grumpy, Ive never had that happen before... After I got home that night I spent the next few hours making numerous trips to the restroom, and had what felt like an out of body experience brought on by the excessive spices rapidly evacuating my body. Agin, I like spicy, but spicy is not a substitute for flavor and this was beyond excessive. I feel like it was cooked by a grizzled, 70 year old man who smokes three packs of Marlboro Reds day. It was definitely a unique experience but not the way I would like... Fast-forward to Christmas Day, I was invited out by my girlfriends family. I was reluctant, but I figured my last experience was a fluke and to be safe I would just order small and go for the least spicy things on the menu. I succeeded in ordering more palatable dishes but that wouldnt be enough. This time something was just bad. The spice was moderate but the food did not sit right. What followed was another night of repeated bathroom trips, having to hop in the shower once and ultimately calling into work the next morning. I had the Tribute to Grandma and the pork belly rolls, my guess was the pork belly wasnt maintained at the propper temperature. Its very disappointing that somewhere can go from one of the best food experiences Ive had to one of the worst. I gave it a second shot but thats the last time I will be going there.

Went in there about an hour or so before closing on Sunday night with a big party. Service was excellent as was the food. We stayed kind of late but they didnt make us feel unwelcome or that we were a bother. Top notch place that is definitely earned a spot on my short list. We came to celebrate my sister in laws birthday here and cannot express how lovely this restaurant is! The menu had a variety of selections to choose from with options to maintain its authentic spicy experience or no heat. If youre an enthusiastic about spicy foods, your taste buds need to experience Dashi! Highly recommend Burning Man Noodles, chicken soup dumplins and Triple pepper beef. I had their Dashi wings.. if youre not a fan of cumin but you may not enjoy them as much as I did. For drinks we tried the purple moon, which is equivalent to a French 75. The red dragon was a spicy with chili notes occurring at the end, helping maintain flavor as heat rose. To top off the experience, we tried their Chinese Baijiu drink Zensai, which is served in a tea pot infused with hot jasmine tea and honey fall syrup. Whether a date or celebration, the service and food was top notch at Dashi. Looking forward to returning for that Wild Mushroom Trio!

Great find in north San Antonio! We are new to the area and wanted something close to authentic Chinese food. Well, this place is completely legit when it comes to Sichuan cuisine. This is not Americanized Chinese food at all, which is likely why some reviewers were not pleased with some of the offerings, especially the spicy ones. Note: Items on the menu in red are spicy, those in black are not. It was just my wife and I but ordered multiple dishes to get a good sense of what Dashi had to offer. They did not disappoint on anything and the MaLa spice was perfect! We had the pork Soup Dumplings, Famous Green Beans (so light and fresh!), Spicy Crispy Ribs and Rice, Mama Chens Tofu (basically, Ma Po Tofu - it was our favorite!), Hot and Sour Soup and a side of white rice. The ambience was dark like others had said, but it set off a cool, chic vibe that really elevated the experience. Service was attentive and simply outstanding! We will be back for sure to try another round of new dishes!

Not pictured but just as fantastic was , spicy pork wonton, cold garlic noods and bao buns. Update... Back for a 2nd trip and our server Riza was once again fantastic! So far they dont disappoint! I really really wanted to love Dashi. It has been on my foodie bucket list for a couple years, but my wife isnt a big fan of numbing & tingling spices. Unfortunately, the best thing I can say is now I can cross it off of my bucket list. I wont return. Tonight I got home after a Saturday working (when I am usually M-F), and my wife surprised me with reservations to Dashi! We arrived, greeted and immediately seated. Excellent. That was the best it got. Then our waiter arrived. Initially Freddy came across as very shaky and nervous. He talked too much about different dishes without listening to my questions. We assumed he was nervous and new. Now I have no idea. We had to flag others to help us because he spent too much time at other tables. We would ask for something, and he would agree and then stop at several other tables and bring them items. Eventually he would return but still not have what we had asked for. At the end of the meal we asked for another round of drinks and 2 expensive sipping tequilas (neat, not chilled, and lemon slices on the side). We received our Tom Collins and Old Fashioned cocktails... And waited. We finally asked Freddy and he said he would check on them... Then he stopped at 2 more tables and I lost sight of him. Eventually I saw him around the bar area but nothing. Finally after 30 minutes I flagged over the gentleman who seated us, and I asked him to check on our tequilas. About 5 minutes later Freddy brought them over and stated that the bartenders were backed up on orders and that he had been checking on them. Given that I was watching Freddy in other areas than the bar, Im not sure how he was checking. Also, if we ordered 2 mixed drinks and 2 neat tequilas at the same time, why would the cocktails come out but not the shots? Its easier to pour 2 shot glasses than make 2 different cocktails. Eventually we had to ask for our check from someone else. They brought it, and Freddy came to enter our card into the handheld device, waited for us to enter tip, and sign. I requested a printed copy, which he had to go get from 10ft away. That was another 5 minutes. I never tip less than 20%. I usually tip more than 20%. Tonight I didnt even tip 10%. I feel badly about the tip but tonight I just couldnt. Ok, lets talk about the food ... And because Ive already written a novel about the service I will keep this brief. Nothing was even remotely spicy, numbing, or tingling. We ordered: Hot & Sour soup for 2: it was meh. It wasnt hot (spicy) or sour. I love a good hot & sour soup. So disappointed. Pork soup dumplings: overall dumplings were decent. We also enjoyed the garlic cucumber dish that came with it. When we got home I made store-bought soup dumplings from the freezer. My wife enjoyed them more than Dashi s. Signature Crispy Fish (whole bass) with steamed rice: Excellent fish! Flaky fish and delicious sauce. Tangy but not a bit spicy. Spicy heat was non-existent. MixMix Zhajiang Noods: bland overcooked noodles topped with delicious minced pork. Pork wasnt able to overcome the horrible noodles. I took this home and added my homemade chili garlic shallot oil to them. We devoured them. To finish, the food wasnt able to overcome the service and not a single person, not one of the 5 people who came to our table, asked if we were enjoying our meal. Obviously we will not return. My wife talked with her coworkers about the experience, and Sichuan Garden was recommended. Is it owned by the same person? I hope not.

Walking in you are greeted by a rather large darkly painted space that is much bigger than you would expect from the outside of the building. There is a full bar and tables on your right and to the left are all the tables for the restaurant. So far Ive been twice and both of my servers were incredible and very knowledgeable about the menu which is great because the menu at Dashi is quite extensive! Be warned there are soooo many food options. Collectively my group ordered crushed Persian cucumbers (highly recommend), sweet and sour soup, eggplant, steamed dumplings, pan fried dumplings, burning man noodles, a secret cake batter fried shrimp (its was ..ok), and another order of noodles but cold ones. Overall we loved everything except the shrimp, I just couldnt get over the texture but 2 in our group did enjoy them. I think Ill definitely be coming back and I recommend Dashi to others! P.s. their drinks are actually very creative and delicious!

Food was EXCELLENT. Especially the eggplant. We really appreciated all the vegetarian options That s hard to find in SA sometimes. My only complaint was the same one I have at so many SA restaurants the LIGHTING IS HORRIBLE. Are there no lighting designers working in San Antonio? It really ruined the atmosphere for us. I m no lighting designer, but I could do a better job! (And I ll do it for some of that eggplant lol!) The lighting with the weird record albums hanging and the cheap decor doesn t feel kitsch like I assume they were going for but if they fix the lighting, it would greatly improve this place. Feels a bit like a high school gym with dark paint they should really invest a little money in this to make the place feel like the special place it is. Kitsch is great if it s done right, and it could work in this space and maybe add a little cool music (not just in the bar). It was shockingly quiet in there. The food is too good for this atmosphere! (But I ll be back anyway!)

Despite waiting patiently, the menu turned out to be confusing. When we tried to request different proteins for certain dishes, we were dismissed as if it were an unalterable order. To make matters more uncomfortable, the waiter mentioned during conversation with me while I was ordering that he was on probation and eager to party while I waited for my partner.

The vibe of the restaurant was so nice I wanted to love it. Then at the end it went from bad to worse .. They used my credit card to pay for another table s tab. I have three authorizations on my credit card. Then the Server started getting aggressive with me because I wanted him to verify that the charges were voided. He became so confrontational, I asked to speak with the manager but they kept over talking me. I ll never go here again. Vibe was great but food was mediocre at best and the hospitality was subpar. If I could give this location 6 stars, I would happily give it. We have been to their sister restaurant, and we have been impressed, so we had high expectations. DASHI didnt disappoint. It is an upscale type of Chinese restaurant with a bar. It has modern Oriental anesthetics. It is kinda dim inside but it fits the ambience. The staff was really friendly. They enthusiastically explained the menu and what Szechuan food is. Everything we tried, we loved. The green beans and eggplant dishes were amazing. Tasted fresh. They had the best egg drop soup Ive had. The crispy duck was great with the dried chilies and honey dip. We also enjoyed tribute to grandma bao dish and the spicy noodle dish. The Mala spice is just really good if you like spicy food. Their dry beef salad is the best in the city. Rice is complimentary and unlimited. The owner/chef checked in with us... great touch! The staff engaged in friendly banter. We were having fun in our table, we were in a great mood...the friendliness of the staff added to the vibe. We will definitely be back.

The lunch I just had at Dashi Sichuan Kitchen & Bar was one of the best dining experiences in recent memory. Main courses were their crispy-spicy tofu dish, and the steamed pork dumplings with a smashed cucumber salad and hot & sour soup included in the lunch special. Perfectly crisped and spiced tofu squares tingled the palate tastily with the steamed dumplings melting in the mouth, enhancing the crunchy texture and heat of the savory cubes. The hot & sour soup was a differently spiced, hearty broth complimenting the cool, smashed cucumber salad. Such satisfying, thoughtfully prepared food is a rare event, indeed. In tasting the food, it is obvious that it is prepared by the hands of an intelligent, experienced chef, not an assembly line. The service was attentive and friendly along with the inviting, relaxing ambiance. This is such a welcome elevation from the usual Chinese fare marketed in this country. Thank you, creators of Dashi! Vegetarian options: There are so many vegan or vegetarian dishes, and any dish can be modified to accommodate. Dietary restrictions: Vegans and vegetarians can expect a wide choice of dishes; some of the employees are vegan and work here because they feel at home with the menu choices. Mostly all dishes can be made to accommodate any diet.

He was a little pushy on trying to get us to buy mixed drinks. He didnt offer me a regular size water so I had to keep filling my little glass up myself. Spring rolls and Triple Pepper were really good. The Combination Fried Rice lacked flavor. The prices we paid were about $3 more than listed on the menu and a Burningman Noodles we never got was added to our ticket and we didnt realize it until after we left because we never got to see the ticket before paying; he just came over with the payment device and total and then asks you if you want a printed receipt. Kinda disappointed, wont be back. ...update I received a reply and they made it right. Thank u for caring about your customers.

Another great experience. If you are looking for heaping piles of white rice, breaded meats, and cloyingly sweet sauces you need to look to Panda Express. This is Sichuan food, freshly prepared like you have not experienced in San Antonio. They have an extensive menu and GGG stands or garlic, ginger, and green onion, staples of the cuisine. On this visit they offered a $75 prix fixe menu that let you select one appetizer, two entrees, and two sides. We would suggest they let us choose either two appetizers or two sides. The appetizer offering is amazing and would have enjoyed more of them. They have a very extensive wine and cocktail list to rival any local restaurant. So we went for the prix fixe menu and chose the garlicky pork belly rolls for an appetizer. So delicious. Long strips of pork belly and cucumber rolled up with this rich garlic sauce that almost reminded us of mole. For entrees we had the salt and pepper shrimp and Mongolian ribeye. Their shrimp are lightly battered and huge! The ribeye was so flavorful and tender. Our sides were the famous green beans and smoky cauliflower. The green beans were incredible with a flavorful garlic sauté on top. I would skip the cauliflower and get the garlicky noodles next time. Like I said you won t find huge piles of white rice so you might want to order a starch if you want that to balance your meal. Our waiter was very attentive, though I cannot remember his name since I didn t ask for a receipt. He did tell us they do not use MSG a plus in my book. We did not want green onion and he told us the cooks only speak Mandarin. What to do? He translated our request using Google translate and the food came out just as we wanted. They have great perks on the San Antonio Gold Members app. But, did you know their Toast point of sale system has perks too? You can connect it to a credit card and when you check out the rewards pop up for you to use. I had earned $16 from a previous visit when I used the Gold Member perk and a $20 birthday reward. What a great deal!

The beef lo mein was cooked perfectly & is something I would go back to order again. Never had soup dumplings before, not sure I would order them again. The only thing that let us down was the soft drinks. They were sodas in a can & they were hot. They poured them on ice, but all it did was water down the soda. We were happier with the cold water that was given to us at the table, except that the glasses for the water were tiny. I m writing this in June and this week is 100 degree weather outside, so yes cold drinks are that important right now.

Fantastic genuine Sichuan Chinese restaurant with a great upscale vibe. They have Hot Pot! And the famous green beans as well as delicious dumings, great noodle dishes and even a steak. We will be back.

The food was great. The service not so much. We had cold garlic noodles and the squashed cucumber and both were really tasty. We had the garlic eggplant and it was wonderful. We had the crispy spicy chicken and it was ok but not as good as rest. Service was pretty bad. They brought everything we ordered all at one time and then completely ignored us. I thought we were going to have to go find the server so we could pay. Honestly this would be a way to try to ruin a good thing. I should mention it was an early Saturday dinner and there were few people there so no excuse for the complete lack of attentiveness. We were here a couple months ago and I gave them a 5 on trip advisor. Not this time folks

We love Dashi!! This place is our go to for delicious food. My favorite is the burning man noodles and the wok seared chicken. The service is always top notch also. Always super happy when we leave! You will not be disappointed if you go here!! Thank you, Dashi!

Amazing, delicious, bold flavors, new experience. We started across the street at izumi, so rude and disappointing. So my party of 13 walked out. Luckily, Dashi was across the street. As soon as we walked in, the atmosphere was so relaxing. The owner, Christina, welcomed us and showed us to our table (amazed that from my call across the street to driving there under 5 minutes, they were ready for us) and explained the story of Sichuan dining and the location of origin, gave wonderful suggestions of food and drink then handed it to our waiter Julian. Julian answered all our questions and took our drink orders. As soon as everyone had drinks, he took out orders. Fastest food service weve experienced. Not more than 5 minutes after ordering my lamb, it was in front of me. Every 2-3 minutes, a new plate came out. We were all very surprised and happy. The food was delicious, and the portions were large. We are family, so food was passed around for everyone to try. One of us ordered the pot (everyone loved). Green beans are delicious. Steamed buns, spring rolls, sesame chicken, beef lo mein, lamb, beef, bok choy, there were 13 of us, so lots of food. I was the only one to take home food as I am allergic to pepper and can not eat large portions (they care very much about your health and well-being). After we were all full and relaxing with our drinks, Christina came over and chatted with us. Best food experience. Best personal experience. Best atmosphere and customer service experience. Hands down. Go see them. You will not be disappointed! Vegetarian options: Available and ready to find on the menu Dietary restrictions: Caters to allergies and dislikes. I can honestly say that this place had too many hit and misses. Server was condescending and flat out terrible at taking a mere order. And although some dishes were amazing, others were sadly disappointing. The experience could have been potentially great, but they were out of most drinks, including as simple as a coke, tea, or any specialty drink. Took us about 40 minutes to get our tea. Alot of food errors were made including forgetting an appetizer and not getting until we were almost done with the entrees. I would like to go once more to give it another try but am worried that it will only be a waste of money the 2nd time around. Vegetarian options: Tofu

Our server Tyson was fantastic. Very friendly, observant but not overbearing, and helped us pick our dishes. The food was so good I forgot to take pictures before digging in. Those green beans are a dream. We had the burningman noodles. Im a super annoying, very picky eater so I wasnt sure howd this go - but they accommodated peanuts on the side and I tried it. Let me tell you: get the noods. Get the green beans and get them noods.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and the service was extremely pleasant. The orders came out surprisingly fast, considering we were a party of twelve. We each ordered different things so we could get a good taste of the variety of dishes. There were definitely some stars of the show. Loved the spicy peanuts, smashed cucumbers, pork ribs, fried rice, green beans, eggplant, crispy duck, pork belly, soup dumplings, and so much more. The only thing I think we didnt like were the burning man noodles. They had zero heat or flavor. It was actually very surprising. Overall, there were a lot of items we liked, and I could see dining here again.

I was excited to try this spot, but unfortunately I was disappointed. Service was great. The food was fresh and decent in terms of quality. Unfortunately, nothing was spectacular and most of it didnt taste very authentically Szechuan. The fried dumplings were decent, but the filling was unremarkable. The pork ribs were underwhelming and had a distinctly strange aftertaste. Cardamom, maybe? The burning man noodles contained peppers which had a burnt, acrid flavor that took over the whole dish. Kung Pao chicken was recommended but again had unremarkable (and not particularly Kung pao-esque flavors). The waitstaff was extremely friendly and professional. It wasnt the worst, but I dont think I would go back.

Sooo good. Such a pretty restaurant and a great price point especially for the portions. So we didnt know its family style eating but our server informed us. We still all ordered our own dish with the intention to share with everyone. There was 6 of us and let me tell you it still was too much food. We also had 4 appetizers. Average price was about 15 dollars per dish but it varies. We got to try soup dumplings which was great and the green bean appetizer was good. We all liked different things best but we all tended to agree we didnt care for the sausage. I sadly took mostly videos of the place.

This restaurant shorts it s guests when they order by the glass of wine. Should be 5 oz pours according to the menu. Barely got 3 oz. The food was way too salty. Our son s food was brought to the table only after we reminded them that we ordered it. When we asked the waitress for help, she acted put out. There were no adjustments to the bill or explanations. They charge too much for this type of service. Will not be back.
