Great place to eat. Sarah, our server, was fantastic. She treated us like we were royalty. We ordered the lasagna and salad and everything was delicious. The food and the 1940 s music reminded me of The Hill in St. Louis MO. We will definitely return.

Everything was great. Our server was Sarah G and she was extremely professional and very nice. She even took the extra time to talk to our 5 year old daughter. Food was really good as well. This was our second time going to Johnny Carinos. Our first time was horrible. Back story, we tried Johnny Carinos in Corpus Christi and probably had the worst experience ever. The manager was nice enough to give gift certificates to give them a second try but a week later they shut down, so we decided to try the one in San Antonio. Which was a good choice, the General Manager Craig even took the time to talk with us.

The Sangrias are great ,, the new way of making egg plant parmesan is absolutely tasty ... and the mushrooms are to die for . But the service ,, we are treated like VIPs Everytime we go .. thanks to the Manager Craig for always making the atmosphere fun and it s wonderful to see him caring for his staff and customers. It amazing to see him work cooking and maintaining the restaurant to top notch . Dietary restrictions: well if i can t have something in the dish. Craig will make sure if i want more the staff has his approval. and i love balsamic vinegar and they always remember this .

Went there Wednesday, and it was sooo hot. Ive been going there once a week for over a year and it has gotten worse!! Food and service are amazing, but I feel the quality of the place has gotten so bad that Ive been warning my friends to choose a different place like chilis because its soooo hot there. They keep placing fans around the bar, and it doesnt help at all. Fans dont cool the place down, just circulating the hot air. Its hot outside, and I expect a place like Carinos to have a working A/C so I can eat some good food comfortably. But I have to rush out of there because Im sweating so bad while Im eating. Was thinking about having the cityofsanantonio stop by to see if it is acceptable. Management the fans arent working just making it look like a broken down establishment. Please fix the AC so I can eat in peace! Dont go unless youre ok with sweating while you eat! Johnny would not approve!

We thought all of the Johnny Carinos had been closed. While visiting San Antonio we drove by and saw the sign. Their olive oil dip with the roasted garlic is amazing. Then we got the Italian nachos. These are every bit as good as we remembered. Then came the shrimp carbonara. Wonderful! Thanks for the memories! We even ordered another Italian Nacho to go! Our waiter was awesome as well though its been a few days and i cant remember his name but he had bright red hair.

My first visit there and was disappointed. My server acted like he was constantly distracted. He wasnt very attentive. Had to ask for things a few times. I ordered takeout at this restaurant at 6:48PM today and my order came out one hour later. Is this actually the time that takes for a restaurant to make your food order ? At 35 mins mark we asked them how much longer it was going to take and that s when they said that they were all out of lasagna and we could wait 15 more minutes ( which actually took 30mins) or replace it with something else. We were not even waiting in the car we were waiting inside the restaurant they could have just asked us as soon as we placed the order. When we were asking for an update they always said we will check in the kitchen and get back but no one got back to us I mean atleast tell me how much more longer right!! Id hoped for people to be trained a bit better in such a restaurant Thankyou.

Had a graduation gathering in the meeting room. The service was horrible 1 server for 25 people this guy was horrible no other way to say it. The food was not that good now I know why the parking lot is never full. The manager blamed on lack of workers. I say no. Stouffers frozen lasagna is way better, and a lot less expensive they didnt even offer fresh parm. It was a bad experience.

Had not visited in many years, I decided to give a try for my birthday. First thing was my shoes sticking to the floor...ick. Group ordered 3 unsweetened teas and got all 3 sweet. Just went here for an early Mothers Day. I believe our server was named Sarah. Food was great. Service was wonderful. I thought all Carinos were gone, but my girl & I found this still exists! We stopped by today & to get the Italian nachos, pasta, & dessert! The service was great & our waiter was full smiles & brought everything out to us so fast & always made sure we were satisfied. It was so nice to be able to come back to a Carinos in over 14 years & relive how much I really liked eating there. Menu has drastically changed, but thats to be expected. Youll find (newer) items like burgers, large pizzas, & ribs. You can also build your own pasta dish & they offer deals on certain days like 2 for 1 pasta or pizza. This team smashed it out of the park today & its nice to say, that was great, instead of, ...Gross. I remember when they were great. Highly recommend that you give them a chance!

The young lady at the hostess stand was extremely professional, accommodating, and polite. And downhill this place went... Its been 7 yrs since weve been here, and quality has definitely gone down. They have bbq stuff here, ribs and brisket. Dont get it, gross, no flavor, and cold. Stick to pasta stuff, which was decent. Pizza is pretty good too. Restrooms were filthy, and womens restroom was almost unusable. It was brought to the staffs attention, and nothing was done about it. Service was underwhelming and very lacking. Its hard to get drink refills when the waitress disappears quickly to mingle with the other 30 workers standing around barely doing anything. Cook in the back with a large/long beard did not have a beard net cover. Will not return and dont recommend it, but it you tough it out, hopefully you will have a better experience. 32 weeks pregnant mama here I ordered crest your own pasta, two raspberry teas and 2 strawberry lemonades, from uber eats. Went here on Wednesday because this is when they have their pizza & wings special. We ALWAYS go here for this special and it comes out to $24.00 dollars. The other day our bill came out to $32.00+change and I asked why? Their answer was because the prices are going up and the new prices will be updated NEXT WEEK on the menus. I told the manager who had on a red chef coat that these new prices should have been posted somewhere to let the customer know about these increases. What a coincidence that this manager was able to give us a discount all the way down to the price that we always pay when we go there. This place has a sports bar with several TVs full of news and sports. Ample parking for mobility impaired folks, even if you dont get a handicapped parking, you can still access it easily from any front parking. The Lasagna was firm, hot and really tasty. The staff was wonderful and very attentive. This place has some real gemutlich. Comfy, cozy and relaxing. Wheelchair accessibility: Everything but the restrooms were easy. The restroom doors are very heavy.

Interesting experience first time visiting a Johnny Carinos. Sat us in the bar area and put us in high chairs felt like a kid again. High chairs are uncomfortable not sure why they chose this type of seating arrangement for a restaurant. We had the new steak and lasanga meal, the steak had alot of fat in it but the lasanga was good. This place is dated and in need of some upgrades. Also the salad looked like coleslaw. Sorry not coming back.

I stood at the front of the restaurant for a very long time in an almost empty restaurant and no one came to seat me. Finally a guy came up and since I am on a business trip I am alone and he seemed put off and said I could sit at the bar or he could try to find a different spot keep in mind there were maybe six tables being used. I decided to try the bar since he did not want to seat me. I sat at the bar for a long time and never even saw a worker. The bar top was all sticky and just needed a simply wipe down I am sure but no one came after several minutes so I left. Not sure if this is just a local thing and I didn t pass the vibe check but I will be in town for a few weeks but will not attempt this place again.

We came in and was told there was a 30 minute wait which was no biggie , we ll 45 min then an hour went by before we were sat down . After 5 min a waiter came by and said he would he right back for our drink order . We waited and waited and waited for over 35 more minutes and I m assuming the hostess who sat us down seen that I was very very agitated and asked if he could get our drinks . It took him 10 minutes to bring our teas and the bread . He then took our order . It didn t take long bc it was just a family Italian nachos . Its such an amazing restaurant to go and have a Hot Delicious Meal!! Food was exceptional, I mean hot, vibrant food presentation, and Flavor was worth every dollar. Walked in and it look like a bunch of people just left. We got seated and it took a good while to get waited on. Got our order in and oh my gosh we waited forever to get our food. The food was not good at all. I order lasagna and it was Gross tasted worse than cafeteria food. Could have been a microwaveable. What we at tonight was $84 Not worth it all. If I could give the service 100 stars I would. I wish I got our waiters name. He was AWSOME. So funny, attentive and just over all great. The steak was over cooked, but our waiter was so wonderful I paid no attention to the food. It was super bowl Sunday so it was slow, the waiter was working a double and usually doesnt work if that helps the owners know who he was to give him a raise.

As a long time lover of Johnny Carino s, it s unfortunate to have to leave an unpleasant review. 6 months ago Carino s in my hometown burned down and having craved it since then, my family and I decided to have dinner at this location. Right off the bat I noticed the surrounding restaurants were packed and Carino s appeared to be closed but it wasn t surprising after experiencing their poor, so-called service . As we stood in the front waiting area, 2 different employees walked past right in front of us with no acknowledgment.We took it upon ourselves to sit at the bar area since we weren t being attended to. Bartender then unenthusiastically asked for our drink order and we decided that we didn t want to be wasting money on poor quality service and possibly bad food. A business who wants no business, It s no wonder there s only 1 left in SA. Don t waste your time.

Service was very rushed. I had chicken bow tie festival and the pasta was undercooked and sauce was just dumped into the pasta, resulting in some un sauced portions of food. Caesar salad was ok because some of it tasted unwashed. Fried ravioli was the only good item I got. Even then, it felt overpriced. Not to mention, there was a noodle in my BOWTIE dish, and silverware had spots.

Went here for an Anniversary Dinner. So yum! We got House Salad w/Blue Cheese Dressing, Sampler Appetizer, Lobster Ravioli & Rosemary Chicken. I also love their Fresh Baked Bread & Garlic Dipping Oil (not pictured). They also have specials on Family Nights which are on Sundays & Mondays. Im always surprised its not more crowded. We came in for date night after a movie and had a great meal. We loved the fried ravioli appetizer, delicious! Hubby got rigatoni with spicy marinara and Italian sausage and absolutely loved it, plus the portion was much more than expected. We went for our anniversary. Our server was Reem. Was a sweet young lady. Knowledgeable, pleasant and very good at her position. She knows the menu, she make great suggestions. We had a family gathering of 12. The food was good. Their portions are HUGE! You wont go away hungry. They also offer family plates of main entrées for about $45 each to be shared, which is a wonderful, affordable way to eat out for a group of people. Our waiter, Jacob, was attentive serving so many people in our group while juggling other tables. I dared to try their spicey jalapeño alfredo sauce on my fettuccine. I love spicey, but it had a strange taste, not to my liking. My husband had a gorganzola penne & loved it. The eggplant Parmesan could have served 2-3 people. It came on a huge platter. The lemon salmon was outstanding, along with their stuffed mushrooms. All of the servings were big enough to feed 2 or more people. We took home a lot of food. My recommendations would be to share a meal for under $30-50, depending on the drinks, appetizers, and desert, unless you want to take home a lot of food. You would be sharing if you were eating at home. Like I said, their portions are huge. Kid-friendliness: Childrens menu for under age 10. Good selection. Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurants layout could easily accommodate wheel chairs & walkers. Table layouts are quite adaptable & they left it spacious for maneuverability. Was able to accommodate our large group with little waiting.

Theyre consistent in their quality, the food tastes really good, pastas are not frenched in sauce and cooked aldante. You get what you expect here with good comfort Italian food. The food was absolutely delicious as always and the service was top notch. That aside, I dont know what happened to my beloved Carinos but it is an embarrassing shell of its former self. Gone is the cozy, rustic old Italy ambiance that gave Carrabbas and O.G. a run for their money. Now theres a restaurant going through an identity crisis! The remnants of the original interior are very much still there but infected with cheap typical-sports-bar-itis. Theyve added wings and burgers to the menu, a fleet of big screen TVs constantly blaring sports, a million beers on draft (absolute trash beer selection no less), and poorly modified furniture. Sad.

If I can rate a 0 I would. Dont recommend coming here and wasting your money. Customer service is horrible especially the assistant manager. Food is very cold taste microwaved and service is slow. They only had tea and water.... My husband got a steak and was very dry and not cooked properly and tasted like cardboard for $30 I was expecting something way different. Then the assistant manager told my husband u ate some of it ... and took off half of it off still paid $20 for something he did not even enjoy .... She took the whole plate back without apologizing... will NEVER COME BACK. worst place Ive ever been. Only thing good I have to say about this place is the salads and fries
