The torch of friendship stands at the crossroads; probably everyone used to come out here on the road from different directions and be friends

The Torch of Friendship is located near the entrance of the Riverwalk. On June 27, 2002 it was dedicated & given to San Antonio by the Mexican Consulate as a sign of friendship and to represent the roots many Texans share with Mexico. The contemporary steel sculpture was made in Mexico & shipped to San Antonio in 6 pieces. It stands 65 tall. It was commissioned to commemorate the relationship between the U.S. & Mexico.

Monument dedicated to friendship. It is supposed to be a torch, because of its shape and color it draws a lot of attention from passers-by, but either you look up its meaning on the internet or you wont understand it.

Be sure to appreciate this sculpture from multiple angles. The monotone color and fluid shape allow the piece to be appreciated in many ways.

San Antonio, Texas. What a beautiful city to visit. So much history and a ton of things to do for the entire family. We went for a convention for work. When we werent working we were exploring the beautiful rivercenter. Amazing place it is. We also went to Six Flags. We had an incredible time. I would love to visit again one day.

Beautiful addition to our downtown. This sculpture is a gift from our neighbors, Mexico. It represents a friendship across the borders of Mexico, USA and Canada. It is on an island but next to the river there is a plaque that tells a little about the story.
