This little dive bar south of downtown is amazing. As you walk in, youre greeted by mexican wrestling nostalgia, hence...El Luchador! From the authentic wrestling masks above the bar to the encased toy wrestling figurines and to the wrestling playbills on the wall, this place took me back to my youth. The bar staff was friendly and quick to serve us, and the patrons already seated inside were equally friendly and welcoming. This is definitely a place to visit when youre in the area and want a cold beer and fresh drink. Bonus: There was a food truck outside serving delicious bbq! Well definitely be back!

I havent been to El Luchador bar AS a bar in a long time. I usually go on early Sundays where my local church rents it out. I remember the drinks & service were Very Good. Food trucks show up & have menus, but havent eaten in a while. Always liked the lucha libre (Mexican wrestling) atmosphere since I first discovered the bar. Parking: Plenty of parking, as long as you arrive early. A little difficult to park later next to bar. Free parking across the street in another lot, unless that fills up. Wheelchair accessibility: A ramp to roll wheelchairs into the bar in front. To get to front door from parking lot in wheelchair may be difficult; uneven gravel, not asphalt.

I was asked to leave after the cops showed up and before last call, also a couple days ago i got checked by someone who didn t want to identify himself after asking for my ID, been to luchador a few times but these recent visits have been super unpleasant and unwelcoming, super sketchy place. I will not visit this location again, there are more friendly locations near downtown.

I used to love this place but it seems within the last year or so my friends and I (who have never caused any issues) have been treated poorly and been made to feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. And the karaoke DJ with the eyeliner was trash talking another bar? On the mic? Boasting about how he will get everyone in the rotation but throwing himself and his friends on the mic ahead of everyone else for special requests .

Ive been a patron at this location for about 3 years or so. When I first started coming here, the vibes were awesome, drinks were good and service was excellent. I always come by for karaoke nights. This time around... I felt unwelcome. My friends and I, could feel the vibe was off. We arrived later on, this particular Saturday night, around 12:30 AM or so. We signed up for karaoke and ordered drinks. My friend signed up first for karaoke and got skipped, not until my second friend got called up and let the KJ know that they skipped the first friend. Were all enjoying yourselves, patiently awaiting our turn, to sing, when the clock strikes, last call. I go up to the bar with only one man waiting for his shots to be made. I make eye contact with the bartender. (She has a bold blonde money piece.) We exchange a grin. She acknowledged me and knew I was waiting to be served. As shes done making the 6 shots, she serves two shots to the man waiting and then proceeds to walk around to serve the other four shots to patrons that are sitting on the stools facing the stage. The way she carried the shot glasses was against health code. Her fingers were on the rim, in the glass!! Ewww. She then took a shot with said patrons and hung around for a few minutes, knowing its last call and has other people at the bar waiting to be served. At this point Im just being patient, when another pair of patrons walks up and are standing at the well (rail). Finally said bartender resumes their post behind the bar to acknowledge the two patrons that had just barely walked up to be served. I interject and say I was here first and put in my drink order. A twisted tea and two Lone Stars (red) . I suppose, I startled the 2 patrons that had just walked up because I was speaking up for myself and letting the bartender know that I was there first. She pops the top to the drinks ordered and then says Do I take them or do I not!? I say Im going to pay for them and the bartender says again Do I take them or do I not!? Again, I will pay for them and she says for the thrid time Do I take them or do I not!? I believe she may have been intoxicated. I dont know what the policy is for staff drinking on the job. I finally said Take them! and stormed tf out. This bartender needs an ego check and perhaps a breathalyzer. I dont know Lucha yall had my heart and now its shattered. Yalls bar staff turn over rate has been Hella high.... where are all the OG peeps?

If your looking for some good drinks and fun this would be the place to go. The drinks were freshly made and taste great. The hospitality and service was also perfecto. I loved the atmosphere and they had free bbq. I came on a Sunday night and the karaoke was so entertaining. I had a great experience and when I visit San antonio again its a must I come here again.

Went on a Saturday night to checkout karaoke , and it was GREAT! Great crowd, great vibe- great location just south of South town/ Breckenridge high School. PHENOMENAL KJ- great attentive bartenders- nice sized covered outdoor area for smokers - plenty of free parking- wonderful Luchador decor and pro wrestling playing all the time on the BIG projection screen! loved it so much Ive been back 2 more times within week & half- this is gonna be favorite karaoke spot for me from now on.

We were vacationing for a week in SA and close by, we saw this bar a few times and decided to stop in for a few drinks. It was one one of the best bars we have visited in San Antonio! They had karaoke and a great atmosphere, a great regular taco/food vendor show up that had amazing carnitas tacos!! I wish we had one of these closer to our home in FW, DJ was great, made us feel like home! We will definitely return here, I cant express enough how much of a hometown vibe we got, these guys are awesome!! PS-the luchador decor is pretty awesome inside

Great southside bar! They have so many cool portraits of luchadores and has a cool retro feel. Went on a Karaoke night and the vibe was amazing! The service was awesome, good beer and shot specials. Rating it 4 stars because my mixed drink wasnt so great, I ordered a ranch water and it just tasted like fake lime juice and flat club soda lol. Will be going back soon, though I will only stick to drinking beer!

Saw this on the map before even going to SA and I thought the atmosphere was gonna be dope. And I was absolutely correct. This place reminded me of favorite dive bar in Tijuana and favorite burrito spot and Cali all in one. Cocktails are smooth and strong. The $6 beer and shot combo is a god send. They had a 80s song bingo and WWE wrestling projected in the back. Couldn t ask for more!

Cool bar with great vibe and music. Have noticed a couple things - since I dont go often enough to know the bartender, it tends to take a while to get my drink. Have had two instances in the last 3 months where the bill was definitely more than it should have been Last night there was a lady fighting with her boyfriend, yelling and cussing at everyone at her table and the bouncer took forever to finally tell her to get out. We had one round of drinks and were heading out to another spot and I noticed my ticket had almost $100 worth of charges and our round was only $30+. Last night my tab had an extra round and my friends tab was double what it should have been. To make matters worse, the bartenders have zero motivation to actually provide decent service. It was a cool juke joint back when it was open. Back in the day, it had an eclectic mix of regulars. Even the un-regulars were cool. Miss hanging out at this place.
