Took a leisure one hour walk of this gallery and park across the street. Art of many varying mediums. Staff at both locations very friendly. I saw that some people got reservations but I didnt see that it was necessary, checking in my group with a QR code only took a couple minutes. Free parking on the street across from the park.

This is a very special destination. I suggest you read a bit about it before you go to understand this is not a typical museum. It is a moving experience with art that opens you a bit and the grounds across the street include Linda Pace s (the benefactor) original studio, a lovely park in memory of her son and current artist exhibits. This is a must-see for art students and for those who appreciate all aspects of art. Thanks to Ms Pace, the museum is open to the public and is free.

It was cringe. If you want to protect your art encase it ALL in glass. big pieces? place borders around them. Dont hire annoying teenage guards to step in every 5 seconds cus my breath is hurting the art. Annoying experience but a beautiful building and some great pieces. I aint even TOUCH anything bro and they stepped in like 5 times, like family go kick rocks

Visiting during a weekday afternoon, it was quiet and peaceful. Although I made a reservation, it seemed unnecessary. The counter staff was incredibly friendly and provided explanations like a personal guide. Since Im not well-versed in art, a quick look around took about 10 minutes in the main building and 20 minutes in the garden, totaling around 30 minutes for the entire visit. Plus, its free!

I would highly recommend Ruby City Art Museum to anyone looking for some really cool art. Whether it be to stay out of the heat, or to check out some local and contemporary art pieces. I do have to add that this experience is completely free of charge and it is a great resource to visit. This is my second time visiting, and since my last visit around 2022 there have been lots of changes such as news exhibits which I love because it keeps things fresh. The theme for now is the art of waterways and it s really interesting to try to see what you can interpret from each art work. If you feel like you have questions there are staff members in stand by who are very helpful and polite in informing you. I came with my boyfriend on Friday morning and it honestly felt like we had rented out the whole museum for ourselves because it was very empty. This will make for a great art museum date and don t forget to check out the small park they have across the street as well.

The outside of the structure is beautiful in itself and is a very striking red, like something youd see on Mars. Ruby City is an incredible little contemporary art museum and such a gem in San Antonio. Before visiting, book an appointment on the website (free!). The museum building is an architectural marvel. Since its not a very large museum, I would plan for an hour at most. I highly recommend also visiting Chris Park, located a very short walk away from the main museum. This park is beautifully landscaped with sculptures and art throughout. The park also has a separate studio space with rotating exhibits.

It sounds like a wonderful place, but they re still living in fear and fear mongering the community requiring masks in the month of May 2022. I believe in the constitutional right to decide if you want to mask or not at this point. I spoke to Randy over the phone to book a visit, and he communicated that it was internal policies. I hope they lift the mask requirement many of us have fought to remove from numerous business owner mask nazis, and I hope it s soon because they re late in retracting from this excessive imposition. I d love to take my kids to visit when they finally grant us our freedoms back. Please let me know down the road when that may occur. Thank you.

Ruby City is a gem in our city. A free gem, to boot. The building is sparkly and stunning on the outside with the proper starkness of a modern art museum inside. There are great places to shoot photos. My favorite part of the experience was the video room. With three projectors set up, the vignettes are big and bold and mesmerizing. Don t miss it. I look forward to additional pieces being added.

Despite some of the pieces are gorgeous I have to give a one star review due to the extremely rude person in the front desk (bearded white guy on glasses), I went there with the family and seemed like he just didnt like us, making us feel really uncomfortable, he even yelled at us twice and scared the little ones, I was very sorry to realize they are not inclusive even when they state the opposite, how sad and what a shame, when we left he was maliciously smiling, Im an IT professional and my wife is a Doctor, we were just not fancy enough for him. Id never come back.

Beautifully designed structure. Very clean lines. Nice spacing. A little sparse. Informative staff. Dont miss the park and other building up the street.

Such a great place for art. Went twice and had a really pleasant experience the first time. Friendly folks at the main building and the studio! Second time I brought some friends who hadnt been since the first time was pleasant. We started at the studio and the woman working there just said hi and continued talking to two other ladies. When my friend got close to the mirror piece she snapped and yelled at him twice to not touch it and continued talking to the other two folks. Complete 180 from the gentleman we had on the first visit who informed us nicely not to touch the exhibit right when we came in. Put a damper on the evening until we went to the main building where the folks working there were much friendlier.

What an eclectic, creative space that you dont want to miss, both inside & out! You also cant afford not to visit, since the admission is free! Chris Park is across the street & has a separate small gallery nested inside the green. The parking lot is all the way down the street, so youll have to walk down to get in!
