Only picked one star because it says we have to in order to leave a review. We were just there and were not even taken care of for over 10 minutes the waiter come over didnt say whom she was and didnt seems to care. The sad part is there only 4 other tables besides dars so they were not busy at all. Says she didnt see us come in or be seated but when we walked in she saw us and was told we were seated there. And the manager Art is a damn joke didnt even seem to care we were waiting that long and he laughed about it. So we got up with our family of 4 and walked out. Never again will we go back and beings we are a huge part of different organization here in San Antonio we will be making sure you lose plenty of business now.

Jims restaurants menu is a replica of the Dennys restaurant menu except the blatant exclusion of certain words in the specific description of meals served to the customer that are copies of Dennys food and a few added food and drink items to the menu that Dennys menu has. Makes you wonder who copied who, Dennys restaurant copied parts of Jims restaurant menu or Jims restaurant copied Dennys restaurant menu and then added a few menu items to that same menu. The wait time was 30 minutes on Labor Day though and it took more than 30 to at least 40 minutes to get served any food and drink that I was supposed to get to eat and drink. The Oreo milkshake tastes pretty much the same as the Dennys restaurant Oreo milkshake. Water in cups and straws for that water was instantly served. The chili was good and the BLT sandwich was good.

We had a great visit!! My grandson jaxx loves his bacon at Jims!! I moved to New Mexico and I have to have the tortilla soup and the best onion rings in the world!!!! Update: Aug 28th2024 Great service! Very attentive waitress!! But.... Your tortilla soup was not good... Did you change the recipe??? I worked for the hasslochers when they first introduced tortilla soup... It was the best ever! But my soup today was not even half way good. Chips were old and stale.

We were well taken of of and very pleased with her attention to us in all our needs and went over the top to please us. Not to mention how delicious our breakfast was. This particular Jims looks bleak. There are lots of mildewed and brown ceiling tiles, peeling wallpaper, and shabby chairs, tables, and booths. They were slammed the day we went, so the service was extremely slow. The waitress, however, made it up to us by offering us all a slice of cake or pie free of charge ....that was a nice touch (we left her a fat tip). The food was alright, just the inside of the restaurant looked old and unclean. There were also LOTS of flies IN the restaurant while we were eating. Gross. Parking: Lots of spots.

This Jims is so awesome it s an older one. So the building is a little out of date. But the staff does their best to keep it clean. The food is so good.. the gentlemen in that back making it are good at what they do. In my opinion so much better than the one on O Connor and 35 which is closer to me but this one is just better. We had a lovely waitress today she was just very nice and made sure we had everything we needed. Check this place out. But beware it gets crowded.

My family and I went in for dinner at jims restaurant. The service was poor but that was not the issue. What was not okay! Was drinking a large drink and finding a dead roach? Floating in my beverage. The waitress came over and saw it and said that they had been having issues for months. The manager saw it and apologized and said that they had been trying to fix this issue for the last 2 years. I tried calling frontier who owns jims at this location which is Jimmy hossllacker. The frontier office was closed for the evening. Needless to say, we did not finish our dinner and we got up and left. After speaking with the manager. I was mortified to find out that they kept the store open, knowing that they have a roach.And rodent infestation at this location.

FYI: NOT 24HRS ANYMORE! Should have turned around and left when hostess walked us past several dirty tables and a filthy, littered floor. Happened to glance at the food line and food was just sitting up in the window... No heat lamp. Burnt toast. Mom ordered bacon, egg, toast and grits. Made sure to tell the waitress,Tish, who was wonderful, BTW, that Mom wanted lightly toasted bread. When she brought our food, she said she had to tell the cook to retoast it 3 times because it was burnt. I appreciated that it came out correct, But... Moms food was All Cold! The eggs, the bacon and grits too! In fact, the grits were inedible. They werent even fully cooked. Tish offered us dessert, and that was a nice gesture,but it was 8pm and we didnt want dessert that late. Also, we were at the back booth that looks straight into the bathroom hallway and it was crammed with white plastic garbage bags and supplies on the floor. I wouldnt use the facilities, but Mom said the bathroom looked like it had been mopped with the dirty kitchen mop. We probably wont be back. Dennys on FM 3009 is closer, cleaner and the food is good and hot. Didnt even bother speaking with the manager. I took one look at him, his body language, clothing and pace said that he did not want to be there. Maybe thats the problem? Yall! Go somewhere else to eat!

Horrible service, portions not worth the price. Literally paid $14 for Chicken Fried Chicken but it was really just an upsized chicken tender. Chicken tastes comparable to Popeyes. The waitress came up and was rushy, did not even ask for our drinks. The cashier did not even acknowledge or say a single word to my friend when he was paying. Just horrible service. Unlike any other Jims I have been too. AVOID THIS ONE and just go to some other Jims and you will get better service.

My husband and I usually like eating at Jims, but this was one of our worst times. My husband noticed our food was sitting for a while before it was brought to us, he had to return his to warm up in microwave, my hashbrowns were over cooked, too crunchy, my bread was dry, didnt taste buttered, my order installed a mixture of onion, bell pepper, fried crispy chips, which you could not taste, the beans were dry; never again. Oh! we paid cash, and didnt get a receipt. This place sucks. Went to the womens bathroom, which, with every step was the sound of a dirty sticky floor. The stall I went into, didnt even have a hook to place my purse, had to hold my purse the whole time. Management should be ashamed.

For decades, Jims has always been a great place to eat. From a Frontier Burger to a full meal in their chain of restaurants in San Antonio. Magic formula has been their trained staff, providing outstanding service and good food at reasonable prices. Today both of ate their Senior meal of chopped sirloin ($7.99 each) with two sides. My wife opted for a tortilla soup and mashed potatoes. Whereas, i odered mashed pototoes, fried okra & added mushrooms for my chopped sirloin. The meal came with a nice dinner roll. Really enjoyed the tasty meal, as well as sampling the zingy tortilla soup. Bring your family and friends and enjoy casual dining & leave with a full stomach. Great place to dine in or carryout. Today carried out a 10oz Ribeye with 2 sides and a slice of Lemon Pie. At Jims I am paying $10-20 less. Great food. Update: As every business has done,..meal prices have increased. The staff is loyal & been with them for years. Their food is consistently very good to excellent. Whats not to love about one of my fav old school diners? Nothing but goodness -- huge and diverse menu, short order cooks so fast menu-to-mouth timing, reasonable prices, ample parking, easy to find right off the freeway.....and then there are the from-scratch desserts....yes please!

Jim s is a great San Antonio staple but definitely needs updating! The food is always good, just regular diner type food with an old fashioned feel. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. The restaurants themselves need remodeling and updating really bad at all locations! The women s bathroom at this location was so gross and uncomfortable that my 3 year old couldn t potty and we went to QuikTrip down the highway. Can t tell in the dining room if it s fly poop or dirt or just intentionally speckled on the walls and blinds. The restaurant needs a deep cleaning and refresh on paint and furniture. This all only leads me to wonder what the kitchen looks like

I was born and raised in San Antonio and has spent a lifetime enjoying Jims Restaurants. However since the passing of the founder and the passing of the torch to his children the condition of the restaurants and the quality of the food and service have suffered. I will always look at Jims with fond memories.

For being diner food this is a damn good diner, been coming for years. I even had a meltdown when my car died in the parking lot and multiple employees were helpful in that. Pancakes are aaaaaamazing, and everything Ive ever ordered is always good, even if you walk in an hour before closing and order chicken fried steak bfast plate and a bowl of cheese soup. Meatloaf Monday and Pot Roast Wednesday is not to be missed, and tho I hate cake, JIMS chocolate cake is a must have if you are gonna order a scoop of cinnamon ice cream. A few customers bring fresh flowers to the morning ladies, and everybody generally works really well and efficient - even if this Jims wasnt a training location situated in a busy highway intersection I think theyd still be the only diner I know of who consistently can have (and quickly handle) a wait. Of which they have a good waiting section. Love to AJ as she got me hooked here back when it was 24/7 precovid, and Maddie & Teddy for good advice that night my car broke down. And much love to my morning ladies too, my mom and I will see you sooooon! Vegetarian options: You can order sides to eat veg here, or fried things on apps menu. Fried mushrooms SUPER DELISH even if you eat meat! Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible
