Went here for a client lunch meeting. The food was really good but the services was severely lacking. It was empty with four other tables and three severs. People asked multiple times for additional salsa. (And hotter salsa) came at end of meal, no chip refills, drinks were always empty. Served was EXTREMELY nice but the other people with me got a bit irritated by lack of service. Overall the food had a nice zest to it. I got the fajitas and it was loaded with meat! Good place overall.

We ate there for lunch recently and our service was very slow and it was evident customer service is lacking unless you re a repeat customer. A couple of parties came in that appear to visit often and they were greeted very warmly - and engaged repeatedly. Even after being served the WRONG food, the manager or owner did not come over and say a word to us. The food was mediocre, but at least it was better than how we were treated. I definitely don t recommend this place. :-(

My friend and I came here to catch up with each other. We ordered two margaritas each, some food, then we wanted to stay a little longer to talk. I ordered a beer, got that, then ordered another, to which they told me they didn t have any cold ones. Ok, so, I asked for another type of beer that was cold, but for the same price, but was told that would not be possible. The owner came to the table to tell me that that they did not negotiate prices, so I either had to pay a higher price for a beer that was cold, or nothing for me!! It s not my fault that they didn t have the beer I wanted on ice! Bad business!!

The food was excellent but the service suffered. My dinner mate requested Micholob cold but it was not available. She then requested a discount for a substitute cold beer and was told that they do not negotiate by the owner of the restaurant after spending over 100 dollars in this economy as 4x s repeat customers not looking to get over but for fairness. I cannot recommend as a local consumer.

Queso tasted like nacho cheese from a ball field with salsa in it. Their salsa was good but chip bowl was very small. Seating in the place is not great, you ll be cramped up next to someone. We had the beef fajitas with were really good. If you love Queso then skip it, you ll be disappointed.

Today, food was awful and service was slow. I ordered a scramble eggs with chorizo without potatoes and they brought it with potatoes. They offered to change it. When they brought it back it was cold. They removed the potatoes from the plate. There were still a few potatoes. Disgusting! Update, got food poisoning! Will never come back!

Pleasantly surprised. Ended up here because of a miss understanding thinking the coffee place next door had cuban sandwiches. Found out the do not at this location. So we were hungry and ended up here. And they do have cuban sandwiches. It is their own spin but it did well at satisfying my craving. Not only that, I had to take half of it home. Its big and stuffed. Breakfast here is good too.

I hate to leave bad reviews, but here goes this one . To start off with the parking is terrible to get out of due to it being such a small space on a busy street and it s hard to see vehicles coming from behind you when backing out of their parking spaces . As soon as I walked in I didn t feel welcome . I am in the medical field and work long shifts which leave me with a strong appetite by the end of my shift , all I wanted was to be welcomed with a warm smile at my local Mexican cuisine which is literally down the street from my apartments, and to know where to pick up my order I HAD ALREADY CALLED AND PLACED ON THE PHONE . As I stepped inside the tiny restaurant everyone just turned and looked at me like I was nobody let alone the people who work there didn t even greet me!! I had to raise my voice and say this is my first time here where can I pay to get my food, and it s service like this that kills my appetite and ruins the craving I had for the meal in the first place . To conclude , I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE !! If you want to feel judged by customers and the staff this is the place to go ! Parking: It s terrible !

The waiter taking care of our order kept on making mistakes with our orders and honestly seemed like they had an attitude this was round 7:00 pm not sure if they were tired and ready to go but we didn t have a good time will not be coming back.

Love the food, margaritas, and service is always friendly. Only issue is they always seem short staffed with only 2-3 servers on a busy night. They hustle but sometimes we wait awhile for things or some requests are forgotten. Place is small and I get a lil claustrophobic walking in finding a spot to sit. Love how they are always trying to update and solve issues in the tiny space and the atmosphere is trendy but comfy. I respect the fam business and that they are closed Sunday & Monday but that s when I always seem to want Barrocos. Smh

This is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in the area, and until recently, one of the most economical. They have recently raised prices, but the food is so good and the portions so large that they can be forgiven. Actually, the restaurant is more of a central American and Mexican mix. As an example, few traditional local Mexican restaurants highlight plantains. Barrocos does. The restaurant is very small and is located in one of the oldest buildings in Rowlett so it has a fun ambiance. Just dont go during peak times or you will have a wait.

Asked if they could accommodate a bean and cheese burrito because I don t eat meat. They said yes. Beans. Cheese. Tortilla. Easy. It came out a beef burrito. Cool, I understand he probably had to ring it in a beef burrito bean and cheese only and the kitchen didn t read it. Sure, I ll wait. 20 more minutes no bean and cheese burrito. Really?? Waiting over an hour for a bean and cheese burrito? I finally had to ask to pay and leave. Incredibly disappointed. Even Taco Bell can figure out how to put together a bean and cheese burrito .

Im going to be fair and say the drinks were great. We went on a Saturday when they were having a party and they were busy. However, they did keep their location open to walk in business, and there was no seating indoors, so we sat outside. We were never checked on. We asked for chips and salsa 3 times before we received it. We emptied our waters and never got refills. We emptied our margs and never saw our waiter to order another. We waited for over an hour for our food while others around us who came in later received theirs. The atmosphere in this restaurant is really authentic and pleasant and maybe it is because we tried this restaurant on a day when they had a party, however if you are going to host a party and not close your restaurant to outsiders please be able to accommodate those customers as well. When they brought the food out, it was all tasty.

Our waiter was also working the bar and would not check on us, she was just hanging out with her friends that were customers. Positive side is my drink was strong and busboys were super polite and the hardest working people in that place, they were the only ones around that would have to go get our waitress/waiters to get service.

My husband and I decided to give this place a try for a date night on Saturday April 22nd at around 8:30PM and when we arrived there was a wait list, which consisted of a sign saying to write our name on a sheet of paper and to leave our phone number if we wanted to wait in our car. My husband and I did just that bc we were too cold to wait outside. Luckily, we got a parking spot right in front on the restaurant, so it was no biggie. About 20 minutes later we watched a boy that worked there come out and scratch all the names off the list without calling anyone prior to that and then proceeded to sit a couple that was just walking up to the restaurant. We waited a few minutes to see if perhaps they were just getting a seat at the bar but they were actually seated at a table that had just became available bc we watched the people that were sitting there leave the restaurant. We then went inside and asked about the wait for 2 people and the same boy told us it was going to be 30 minutes, I then asked him why he had just scratched everyone s name off the list without calling first and he told me that he most likely did call, we just didn t answer and when I told him, I watched him not make any calls, sit the other couple, and then scratch everyone else off the list and he said well there s nothing I can do, you still have to wait bc there are no tables available . No apology, NOTHING! I do not mind waiting and I understand the limited availability but this boy has no business working in the customer service industry, if he can t have the courtesy to make a call to a customer who has been waiting to get seated! If the manager/owner reads this and thinks I m lying, you are more than welcome to check your caller ID and verify the outgoing calls. This kid literally ruined our date night.

Sorry I must have gone on a off day. My party of 6 went there for a early lunch Saturday. We were seated immediately. Not more than 8 cusyomers seated. My beef chimichanga. Just wasnt that good. The meat didnt really have any seasoning. I asked for queso for the topping. I got a watered down cheesy liquid. Then my meal went from bad to worse. I found a very long hair in my food. I had taken a big bite, and had to pull it out. The waitress was nice enough to take the meal off the bill. No one else was very impressed with their food. The tamales look decent, and the beans and rice were good. I know they have a not of competition in this area. Im not going back.

This is a great place with amazing margaritas and good food! They are a family owned business, which is great! But they always appear to be short staff, which can be frustrating. However, it does not stop me from going there at least once a week!

Chips and salsa obviously not homemade. Really weird fajita seasoning. Beef fajita meat was sliced the wrong way which made it almost inedible. The frozen margarita was terrible, took 3 drinks out if it and left it on the table. I can not for the life of me figure out why it was so busy.

Bianca, her parents and the whole wait staff are top notch!!! If I dont sit at the bar to chit-chat with Bianca, Grace is my favorite waitress. Parking is easy, right in front of the restaurant or across the median, its kid friendly and spotlessly clean. The food is phenomenal, the people and vibe are warm and inviting. This is my go-to place!!!

Stopped in to have a drink with friends from work, and we ended up staying for dinner. Im not a major fan of Mexican food but their food is good and well prepared. The service is a little slow, and the atmosphere is clean and tidy, but it is a little small. My friends and I enjoyed our stay and will definitely return soon.

I came in here after taking the train while I was waiting for my ride and I had some good food. I had ordered a Jalapeno Margarita to start and had some of their chips and salsa. Their salsa they served was good but I wished they had two salsas - one thats mild and one thats spicy because although the salsa had a lot of flavor, it was very mild. Thats not a complaint because the salsa was great (perhaps just a wish)! While I was waiting for my ride I had the Arepas con Queso and some Empanadas. The Arepas were really good but because of all the toppings they loaded onto it they became soggy just a little quicker than normal which was a shame because they were really good but you can remedy that easily for the future. The Empanadas tasted good too with the pork and the beans were so flavorful. I wouldnt mind coming back again because I have yet to really find many decent restaurants east of the metroplex that have a good Central and South American influence (only Mexican really). This isnt authentic but I appreciate the few dishes on their menu with that representation.

Never again. The process of getting checked in was chaotic. That s fine. We didn t mind waiting at all. We were eventually seated and place our order immediately because we could tell it was starting to get busy. 30 minutes pass, no one makes eye contact with us again. An hour passes, everyone looks down when they pass our table an hour and 20 minutes later we finally ask if our food is close to being ready and our server assures us it is. She comes back 10 minutes later to tell us the order was never put in and asked what we wanted to do, while staring at us blankly. We said we wanted to eat. She says she has to take our order again because she no longer has it? After two hours of placing our original order, we finally got our food. They continued to avoid eye contact with our table so after being there for over two and a half hours, we paid, tipped and left. No apologies, the manager brushed us off. We didn t ask for anything free or a discount - we simply wanted our food and to be acknowledged. I have no idea why they walked by so many times and didn t think it was strange that we were still sitting there with no food and zero communication. The worst restaurant experience I ve had.

Came here as it s located in my neighborhood. We started with the white queso with pico mixed in. And myslef and my girlfriend shared the beef fajitas, there was plenty there plus lunch for tomorrow. Our server (forget her name) was very attentive and answered all of our questions and offered great suggestions. Will be back again.

Finally got to try this place out..had about a 20 minute wait on a Wednesday which I charge to the fact the place is small and feels very cramped. Theres no hostess or a check in desk so you walk in and just stand until someone notices you. Our waitress was just ok..could definitely use some service etiquette training. She reached over my drink and right in front of my face to hand the check to someone next to me instead of walking around the other side. It seemed short handed there was I think a total of maybe 5 people on the floor and they were super busy so maybe they werent expecting it on a Wed. either. When I ordered a mango mojito the waitress wasnt sure the girl at the bar could make it She was able to and it was ok a bit chunky . The brisket tacos, guiso with papas and rice and beans were good. I would probably give it another try just cause the food was good and the young guy cleaning tables and serving food was so nice and friendly. Update went yesterday 7/21 and I can say its a hit or miss. I had fish and veggies and it was NOT good at all The fish was burned and the veggies were sweet. Not worth it at all. With that said, we had a friend who had their wedding reception and the food was very good. Either eat, Id say stick to what you know is good or just opt for chips amd drinks.

Such a cute place to grab dinner! They even have happy hour on Saturday! The bar area was really lively. We went with a group of 10 and we were in and out in 1 1/2 hours!!! The food was great. You must try the chili relleno. Its grilled, not fried and had a wonderful roasted taste. The kids chicken strips were great and a lot of food!
