I ordered the stuffed flounder with crab and shrimp served over lemon rice and vegetables. Unfortunately, the food was not served at an appropriate temperature, leading me to believe it may have been sitting for some time. As this was my first visit, I found it disappointing, especially given the positive recommendations I have received from other customers regarding this establishment.

My wife and I are frequent diners at Half Shells in Plano Texas. Our experience has always been very nice. My wife almost always gets fish & chips. We noticed in the recent past, over several visits, that the batter was burnt in several places. This was not to the extent that it had a major effect on the taste, but more on texture. We have mentioned this on a previous visit to the wait staff. Here s the good news: during our visit today we found the fish & chips batter was a very nice, even golden brown. It looked wonderful, tasted great and the texture was superb. We asked to speak with the manager to express the difference between past & the current presentations. He said that they had become aware of this issue and started changing the shortening more frequently than previous individuals had (I am not sure this meant personnel changes or not). (Over reuse shortening can result in hot spots and uneven cooking). It was great to know this restaurant is concerned with quality and takes steps to improve it! My rainbow trout was also very nicely done! Oh, and they had no problem substituting spinach for the chips at our request. The chips are great too, we are just watching carbs currently. Further, we ve always found the wait and other staff most personable and interested in making one s dining experience pleasurable. Thanks Half Shells. Keep it up!

Two weekends ago we were at Half Shells the Plano TX The food was delicious, we loved everything we ate! The service was excellent, our waitress was very friendly and attentive to us. And since we told him that it was our first time in that restaurant, he explained to us the dishes they had and made us good recommendations! The atmosphere is very nice. We will surely return in the future!!

I visited Half Shells Legacy center while in town for a conference and boy was I impressed. The atmosphere was relaxed and the food was amazing. The customer service was unmatched. Thom and Calvin are outstanding! Needless to say we returned before catching our flight and received the same great service and delicious food. I will certainly return.

I am from Alabama and I was visiting! Everything was so good!! The food was amazing! Service was amazing as well! Thom was great! He s the reason I tried everything on the menu! He is also the reason we came back a second time before heading back home to Alabama! Calvin was our server and he was the sweetest! I came in today with my boyfriend for dinner. The food was great, but what we enjoyed most was the service. Marquis was nice and got to us right away, and Tim came by and provided us with a small welcome plate with small samples of soup and more. The drinks were strong, and overall, we genuinely enjoyed the atmosphere. The people made the experience so much better.

Mmm! How delicious Half Shells is!!! Our server was Trina. Her service was great. We told her it was our first time here. We ordered the Seraphin hand rolled fish tacos. As we waited the General Manager Sam came and said I heard it is your 1st time. I have a sample for you to taste. We sampled the for soups, crab bisque, gumbo, clam chowder, and roasted jalapeño. All four was so rich and full flavored!!! We also sampled the oyster nachos. Im not very big on oysters, but these are sooo delicious. The hospitality is A1! I recommend this restaurant to all. We will be back and bring others with us!

I popped in for lunch and had the seared ahi tuna tacos (not on the regular menu but on the specials board that day.) They were just OK. Bartender Karen was awesome. There were a lot of regulars there as everyone seemed to know each other. I think dinner on the patio would be ideal rather than dining inside. Location is great - shops at Legacy which is a neat area.

The experience was okay, I asked to be seated at the bar, hostess said no, lets get you a booth so youre comfortable. I dont like booths but followed her anyway. Later, I nearly fell out onto the floor because theres this tall step that you cant really see and Id forgotten it was there. Waiter was nice, attentive but a little distracted. Food was good: calamari was better than expected, the much-hyped crab cake was not the best Ive had but definitely not terrible. Ive had better. I think its a rip off that they dont consider Michelob Ultra a domestic. But whatever. Overall, a nice after work bite, but Im not driving out of my way to get here. If Im in the area, Ill stop in for the calamari again.

EVERYTHING was on-point. Started with the gumbo best I ve had in Dallas. The wife had the Shrimp Cobb Salad. Shrimp was cooked perfectly and the white balsamic dressing was great. I had the fried Catfish and Shrimp. Food was hot and cooked to perfection. Not only was the entree great, the condiments were fantastic as well. The store was clean, service was friendly and timely, and the lighting and music were appropriate. Kudos to management for firing on all cylinders. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Sorry for the lack of pics I was too busy eating!

Upscale diner vibe. We were seated right away on a Sunday evening. Friendly staff. My husband had a traditional margarita but it tasted like watermelon. It wasnt bad, just different. He ate the crab and shrimp stuffed flounder. I had the shrimp tacos, which were amazing! The key lime pie had a great flavor with a yummy homemade graham cracker crust.

Our server was pleasant and in training which was all good but suddenly replaced by another server with no explanation. High reviews did not reflect our dining experience but the food and experience was fair at best.

Last evening was our first time dining at Half Shells and it was truly an enjoyable and memorable experience. My husband and I hosted a party of 11 with appetizers, entrees and desserts and the food and service were both excellent which is not always the case with large groups, especially when the restaurant is busy. Great food and staff! Thank you! Parking: Easy, free parking close to restaurant. Wheelchair accessibility: Staff was so accommodating. My husband is in a wheelchair and as we were walking up to the restaurant there was someone from Half Shells at the door, holding it open for us and someone else making accommodations at the table. Thank you for making this so welcoming and easy for him!

This restaurant has been wonderful until last evening. Waitress seemed a little edgy and spread too thin. The restaurant was way too hot as they had the large glass door open. Even upon shutting the door it was still too warm. We almost left as we were feeling so overheated. Attention to detail just wasn t there as it usually is. It took 4 requests to get a coke.

What a great find! The service from walking in the door until I left was top notch. I ordered the crab bisque and a dozen oysters, the bisque was arguably some of the best I ve had (and I ve had a lot!) and the oysters were fresh with a good selection (I had the east coast). Topped it all of with their signature hurricane drink which was perfectly balanced. I will be coming here a LOT more and highly suggest Half Shells to anyone looking for great seafood dining experience

We come to this area every year for a work conference and stay around the corner at the Marriott. It is a beautiful, easy walk to the restaurant. I had the blackened crawfish and shrimp taco special. We also had the fried pickles appetizer, which was perfect. Pickles are thin chip slices, not wedges or too thick cuts. We had Paul C. who was wonderful and had a contagious smile and great energy! The entire staff seemed to flow well. 100% recommended and look forward to our visit next year!

Bright location with good energy and great food. The Cajun flavors came through with good balance. We really enjoyed the seafood. We had my mother s 80th birthday dinner. They could not have been more accommodating or made it a better event. The food was Amazing. The best service we could have hoped for. I came here twice for lunch. I just close to my job. My first visit was amazing. The staff was very friendly. The regional manager allowed me to try free samples of the soup, which were amazing which brought me back for the second time, and I ordered the shrimp bisque which is extremely good. Stopped by here for a quick dinner while in town for business. It was about 75% full, but there were a few seats at the bar, a few indoor and outdoor tables. I was immediately seated at a booth near the bar. Server immediately came over for drinks and appetizers order. Ordered a watermelon margarita and clam chowder for an appetizer. Both came out within 5 minutes and tasted good. For the meal, ordered a Super Greens Salmon Salad. This came out within 10 minutes and was full of greens, quinoa, veggies, and topped with a full serving of salmon. Everything was very fresh and the salmon was juicy. Atmosphere was nice with sports on the TVs at the bar and a nice e patio out front. Will come back again in the future to try more menu items. Good food and service.

What an awesome atmosphere! The patio is fabulous, the service was spot on, the food was amazing and the new cocktail menu has something for everyone! I loved the Toasted Marshmallow Espresso Martini, YUMMY! As always the gumbo is rich, warm and full of flavor! The appetizer sampler is perfect to share and their daily specials are so enticing! Hubs had the swordfish and I had the Shrimp & Chicken Penne Alfredo! Both were amazing! Our server, Yassin (sp?) was fast, friendly and very attentive. I come here for 3 things. The chalkboard specials, amazing oysters, and the staff. Trina has served us numerous times, and its always a pleasure. The best part is that you can change what you dont like on any of the specials. Tonight, we had the Halibut but prepared like the Rockfish and my husband had the chumichurri shrimp tacos. Oh, and lets not forget a dozen ugly duckling oysters.

Michelle is an awesome server! Took my fiance on date. Ive never been there before, and she is very knowledgeable about the menu . The service was awesome. The atmosphere was great. I recommend anybody to check it out. The food is also remarkable. We definitely will be back.

I had the Pick 2 Combo with fish and shrimp. This is the worst food Ive ever eaten in my life. No season AT ALL, fish was horrible and had what looked like a parasite on it and the shrimp was sour and tasted like plastic. I cant believe this place has so many stars. YUCK!!! I would give zero stars if it were possible!

Our waitress, Lorraine, had to be one of the best waitresses I ve ever had. So welcoming, patient, and happy to help. Highly recommend this restaurant, great food, fast service, and reasonable prices! What more could you ask for? Kid-friendliness: We brought our three year old and he ate his entire plate of pasta. Our waitress also interacted with him and included him in conversation. Very happy momma!

My wife and I came out here for dinner for our second time. She had the Chargrilled Prince William Sound Sockeye Salmon with Peaches $27. I had the Chargrilled Mahi Mahi $23. They were both really good but I liked the Mahi Mahi better. They have a standard menu that you can always order familiar dishes from and a seasonal menu that changes depending on what s available. These items are from the seasonal menu so they won t be here forever. The service was really good and we tend to enjoy sitting outside at night. They have fans to keep you cool.

We are travelling from Toronto Canada . We had an amazing meal! I liked visiting half shells. Its a neat concept. I came early to put our name in for a table because I was meeting a party. As I waited I sat at the bar, I Loved the bar. The bartender made me a wonderful tequila old fashioned that I drink as I enjoyed myself hold watching The University of Tennessee play baseball. When we were seated at our table it was clean and our server was very competent at his job. It is a loud building so conversation is hard. We had a hard time hearing the server at times.

The cod fish was the only thing I liked I ordered the seafood platter the shrimp were ok they were fried and some still had the shell on. The waiter was ok he offered samples but we didn t get them but the table behind us got theirs. Overall I give it a 2. Why a 2 well the bathrooms were clean and the ambiance was aesthetically pleasing.

This has been a go-to seafood spot for many years. Their new location, just down the street from the old one, is a big improvement in space/light/open feel. However, you go here for the food. They are what RockFish used to be before they went over the cliff with the corporate owner. The chalk board always has something interesting to try if the normal menu doesnt tickle your fancy. My bride and I eat here at least once or twice a month, if not more often when the mood strikes us. Ive tried a number of dishes, but their fish sandwich, I get it grilled, is excellent and hits the spot. Parking: park in the garage right behind the restaurant. Love the garage, especially during the summer months!

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I cannot rate the food or even the water because my family was seated for 18 mins without so much as a hello. I made eye contact with a waiter and waitress and the lady gave me a nod, but instead went an hugged a regular and then went cleaned a table. Even when we were walking out, and we told the hosts that no one even acknowledged our presence, they looked befuddled but offered no waiter, manager, etc. And no it was not busy and there were several wait staff just present. So disappointing because we love to visit Fish City Grill (this is an affialiate). Try Mi Cocina instead great service and decent Mexican restaurant food.

The food was great and crawfish, although a little small, was fabulous and tasted great with a side of seasoning. Especially at the price point, the food was great as always. However, the special I must say was sub-par at best. One of the servers, Michelle, had a very unsettling attitude. When we first entered the restaurant, I requested to be seated in a booth when I saw that the restaurant was quite empty with many available. Michelle then uttered a moan, then directed to say They always do this in a very negative tone and connotation, which was vividly directed at us. Initially, I was confused as to what I had heard, and proceeded to laugh it off until I notified the manager, as I saw that she also had a very condescending tone to the table next to us causing them to also roll their eyes at her. Other than this, the food is great at the price point.

Had not been in a long while because the food declined so we came back to see if it improved in new location. The shrimp and crab queso had plenty of meat but the cheese was runny like a soup, not queso. Next ordered were 8 chargrilled oysters of which 2 of were burned so that the meat was inedible and shell singed. We asked for 2 in replacement and one of them was overcooked also. After 2 fails and a replacement fail, we decided to go next door for out main course at CRU and it was excellent. It will probably be another 6 months to a year before we go back for another attempt of the kind of meals we used to get there consistently.

Sadly poor food in terms of quantity and temperature. All elements of the dish except one were stone cold. Server Carson was good and attentive but the quality of food generally has plummeted. Whilst the server was politely attentive the general impression is that the falling standards are accepted by many so it is not worth actually making changes. Third meal in two weeks and all had disappointing aspects.
