The waiter Fidel did the least he could ve done to take care of our table. He never said one thing to us didn t ask how the food was and basically He didn t say a word. Had to order an appetizer from a different waiter. Unfortunately, the food was just warm. Having red reviews on this place I was looking forward to going, but at the end the four of us agreed that we wouldn t be back. I talked to the manager and he was really a good guy and understood about the lack of hospitality From his waiter.

Saturday at 1:00PM. They let us pick our seats. We chose outside area which was cooled by fans and even though the temps were 90s it was just fine. Our waiter for the six at our table was personable and knew the menu very well. I had steak tacos and they were excellent. Everyone at the table thoroughly enjoyed their lunch.

Terrible! We first ordered an appetizer while ordering the food and it never arrived! Until the waiter came to offer us the bill, when he realized that they had not brought us the food he left and after another long time they brought me the cold food and worse the raw meat! We let the manager know (I imagine thats what it was) and he just apologized! In short, for me it was Debut and Farewell!!

Perfect name for a perfect truly Mexican experience. José offers, obviously, Mexican food, but their staple is the high quality and wide variety of tacos, all of them far more Mex than Tex. Very savory, great helpful staff and plenty of comfortable room. Highly recommended.

Had dinner here with my family. Excellent Mexican food with an upscale twist and reasonable prices. The Avocado Gazpacho was unique and flavorful as an appetizer. For the main course, I had the Pescado a la Veracruzana. Great choice. Try the Strawberry Tres Leches and share it. Parking: We parked on Lovers Lane without any problems.

Conversation was amazing so didnt want to take phone out for photos. All of Bens recommendations were on point. Go with them. Waterfall outside for ambience was so perfect. Mezcal selection was on point and cocktails the usual homerun everytime.

I went to dinner with my boss from California and a visitor from Colombia. The person who was at the valet parking told us that we couldnt park in the parking lot, that if we wanted to go in we had to go in and we had to leave the car parked on the street. What a shame that without trying the food we left with a terrible impression.

Finally made it to José. I dont get it. Rather disappointing. Ordered the Texas peaches/goat cheese/arugula salad, a special. The peaches werent even close to ripe, flavorless and crunchy. I wouldve sent it back to the kitchen had my friend not invited us for lunch. The entrées we ordered were OK but certainly not memorable (I think I had Enchiladas Suizas?). Margaritas were good, as they should be for close to $20. Service was friendly and fun but very slooooowwww. Not sure why given it was lunch and almost empty. Atmosphere was a disappointment, pretty bland/generic. Glad Ive been able to check this one off my list, but bummed that I dont plan to return given the overall experience. There are way too many Mexican restaurants in Dallas that offer much more for this price point.

I really like Jose from 5 years ago. I have dined here several times and every time it loses luster. While the menu has evolved, I would expect the food quality and service to be par and sadly it is not. During my last visit, i didnt have the heart to tell the server that the quesadillas were soggy and just not good at all as they had recommended the dish. I ordered a side of refried pinto beans and they tasted like canned beans. I can and will lower my bar for service but I will not do so for food.

I love how even 10 visits later Im trying new items and falling in love with them. Hands down the best Mexican restaurant in the city. Chef AQ is top tier, you can taste the passion in her food. Not busy during Happy Hour on a Thursday. Valet was quick and seated at the bar even quicker. I ordered 3 items: Fish taco, fun burger (which was way bigger than I expected for an appetizer), & potato flautas (I think) and all were delicious I did not order a cocktail but the # of additive free tequilas in stock were impressive and way more than you see anywhere else. Next time Ill delve into exploring them all.

Octavio was great, super on top it and so nice. Food was absolutely delicious, just slightly disappointed in serving size of the carnitas. Felt like it was really small. Found this place because we were in the area and hungry. Ive already recommended it to friends. Ive lived here over 10 years and finally found the BEST ENCHILADA!! I healthy prefer their red sauce they make instead of what everyone else uses. It reminds me of a sauce from New Mexico. However.... The bloody Marys were not good at all. We tried both, and their house mix isnt good. The ceviche looked pretty, and had loys of meat. Really great, I just like mine with a little sauce.

The service was slow, orders were incorrect, drinks went undelivered and incorrect. Food was incorrect and 2 people asked for no cilantro and the waiter rook it upon himself to make changes to all the orders based on that. Chips were stale. 5 people, not 1 enjoyed their food. Ordered Squash blossom quesadillas- Literally had 0 squash blossom in it, cut them open searching, there was 0 to be found. This place is massively overhyped. Forced valet is ridiculous too, my car is 2 spaces from the door and I have to pay. Definitely will not be returning. Hopefully the 15 minutes of fame will be up soon and we can get some good food and good service in this prime location. Parking: Forced valet only

Awesome restaurant. We got the Chef Water and La Coqueta to drink. Chef Water was one of the best gin drinks Ive had (most are too sweet and this wasnt). Im not a margarita fan, but the GF liked the La Coqueta. We split the Machete and Carne Asada. Most tender carne asada Ive ever had, it basically melted in your mouth. The machete was good with their guac salsa on it. Fun atmosphere and a great place when the weather is nice. Only thing that wasnt great was the salsa with the chips. Not bad, just not good.

This place went down hill quick! We used to come here a lot but not anymore... The food went from flavorful to boring, the prices went up and then the servers all started to pushing you out to turn the table. This last time was a birthday dinner that honestly made disappointing by us coming here. The website, their website states the hours are till 10:30pm and its not correct at all. We get there before 9 only to be rushed into dinner cause the kitchen closes 1 and a half hours early, oh and last call was 1 hour till closing at 9:30. Theres other choices in Dallas but we choose this place because of the hours posted on their website only to be rushed. Then OMG what a f ing waste of a birthday dinner!! Plain food, high prices, servers who cant wait to leave, the beautiful trifecta of a successful restaurant! Adios Jose, no mas!!

We had to ask the manager and several other servers for refills, items, etc. Hector never once stopped by to inquire how we were doing, how the meal was, or if we needed anything. Very disappointing when you are wanting to focus on the conversation of a distant friend youve not seen in a long time. Killed the mood and the dinner. Food was okay. A Must-Visit for Food Lovers and Hospitality Enthusiasts My wife and I have long considered Jose on Lovers Lane a cornerstone of our dining routine, especially when hosting friends from out of town. Each visit reaffirms why its our go-to spot. From what I boldly claim to be the best Ranchwater in Texas to their inventive entrees, Joses consistently impresses. The service is invariably impeccable, and its a common delight to have the management personally ensure our experience is top-notch. Just last night, we brought a guest with specific dietary needs, and I was reminded of the exceptional attention to detail Joses staff exhibits. Our server, Brandon, preemptively inquired about any food allergies and meticulously walked us through the menu, ensuring a safe and enjoyable meal for all. His coordination with the chef to double-check our order for safety was the cherry on top of a flawless service experience. Even when a small service hiccup occurred, the staffs swift and thoughtful resolution only highlighted their dedication to guest satisfaction. Joses is more than just a restaurant to us; its a testament to culinary excellence and unmatched hospitality. We re already looking forward to our next visit. Lions Mane mushroom taco. INEDIBLE. The recipe doesnt work. I grow lions mane at home, love em. Lions mane has a seafood flavor. When I saw lions mane on the menu, i instantly knew what I wanted... . Lions mane mushrooms (remember seafood taste), drenched in a buffalo hot sauce (acid based hot sauce), big dollop of sour cream (more acid) and topped with pickled red onions (additional acid). It was a lot of liquid and acid. Best part was having my girlfriend try it. She hates mushrooms. Took a bite. The grimace on her face and watching her look around to see if it was appropriate to spit out (it wasnt, so she just swallowed)... priceless. I did get cussed out afterwards and no lovin that night buuuut it was funny. The tacos are a slimy, sloppy, sour seafood mess. It was compd. Im giving this feedback in hopes Jose rethinks the recipe. It doesnt work. recipe idea. IF JOSE USES THIS, PLEASE SEND ME A GIFT CARD FOR A DINNER TO TRY IT lions mane flour batter with corn kernels (or w/o) deep fried tartar sauce or a guacamole (that would be pretty) spicy agave cilantro taco shell

First time dining at Jose on Lovers Ln in Dallas. All four of us absolutely enjoyed our evening; the service was outstanding, the food was delicious and the drinks were excellent. We had the short rib enchiladas, carne asada, shrimp tacos and the chicken mole. The story behind the tiles along the interior wall is fun and added to the whole experience. We loved it and will be back for sure.

Had a great experience. Server was bilingual which added to the authenticity of the restaurant. Great service and great food. Everything tasted excellent. Parking: Requires valet parking, unless you park on street.

Experience was underwhelming. Food was not great and its pretty expensive. Service was also not great. Drinks and the ambiance are outstanding. Chips and salsa were delicious. I would go back just for drinks but would not get dinner there again. Vegetarian options: My friend is vegan and there were only like 2 things on the menu she could order (both of which you had to order without cheese) and nothing was labeled, you just had to read the ingredients and figure it out

I went here because I have a cousin that is a great chef and she told me to visit this places so I decided to go. The place is not the prettiest but food was excellent. To start I ordered the flautas ahogadas and the street corn and were upstanding. Then, ordered the enchiladas that also were delicious. I forgot the name of the waiter but he was great. Definitely 100% recommend it and I ll be back when I m in town.

We heard good things about this restaurant, so went to try it for Lunch. The Food was good, but the servings were MUCH smaller than we expected. My Crab Cakes were $18 & should have been on the Appetizer List. Excellent Margaritas, but again, small & overpriced. Service is very slow. After waiting 20min, we had to ask the Hostess to find our Waiter so we could tab out. We saw other dishes on other tables that looked really good so we will try it again. But definitely not impressed with the 1st visit. Parking: Mandatory Valet. Tip only requested. Very small lot.

I come from the Tex-Mex food capital of the world, San Antonio, Texas. I m here to let you know that this restaurant: José has the best Tex-Mex I ve ever eaten. The menu is fresh, clean, and pure, which allows one extra time in terms of longevity. I m considering buying a house nearby so that I can eat here every day.

Weve been here many times and the food is always great. We love the patio and sitting under the rolled back roof. Unfortunately we went here for our wedding anniversary and the experience was sub-par. We put in the reservation service that we were celebrating our anniversary. Either José doesnt do anything for celebrations (possible) or the waiter/hostess ignored it. That was disappointing. But by far, the most frustrating thing was that our waiter mostly ignored us, and the restaurant was not at all full. It took 15-20 minutes to order drinks. Then another 15-20 to get him back for appetizers. You get the picture. We considered going to the hostess a couple of times. It all adds up to a long time waiting hungry, or with empty dishes/glasses on the table. Unless service is improved we will not choose José again for special celebrations.

Tonight was one of the best nights of my life. Im typing this as theyre dimming the lights to match a setting sun, creating a backdrop to a long awaited family reunion. The food is exquisite, superb; mango-habanero aioli, short-rib enchiladas, ahi tuna appetizers were my rockstars. You could even see the chefs style with the aioli, which is something my eyes never notice or pay attention to. Leslie, our server, was the captain of our ship and the glue to our family experience. Her smile, confident calm presence, kindness, and pairing suggestions made it the best dinner Ive had in awhile. 2023 has been one of the hardest years and Jose has made me so grateful to be here and thankful to be alive. Thank you again. - Chris

Came here for lunch with family and the food was pretty good. The service was very friendly. Overall it was a positive experience but my main issue was with the dessert. I had ordered a different dessert and received the brownie and ice cream instead. While the dessert was good, no one had noticed or cared to mention that the wrong dessert had arrived.

At Joses Mexican restaurant, the charming ambiance, complete with a lovely outdoor patio and tastefully decorated indoor area, creates an inviting atmosphere. While the food is beautifully presented, we found it to be somewhat lacking in flavor, as it was a bit too bland for our palate.

This restaurant is stunning inside. The food was amazing! Steak enchiladas were definitely something I need to have again. The best part was the server sharing that they have chefs coming to visit and do tasting menus like the one on Oct 9. I could only imagine what 6 courses of this food would be like . Best meal I have had all year.

Top notch Margaritas and small bites. They change the menu frequently enough to keep you guessing even thought it may result in some of your favorites not being there the next time around. For example the Ahi Nachos We sat with a large party and everyone had an amazing time. Loved the way the Ranch water is served with a glass of ice, shot of tequila and a bottle of Topo Chico. Nice touch. Strong recommendation for outside patio season when the weather is great for outdoor dining.

Loved this place! They seemed a little understaffed so the service wasn t quite as consistent as I would have liked but all of the staff were very friendly and professional. The décor and atmosphere are fun and chic. I love that there is an outside portion for seating as well. The food was all phenomenal and I especially liked the tortillas. Additionally they also have mocktails for people who don t drink alcohol but still want a pretty drink. Would recommend and will be back!

Good restaurant. Everyone who recommended it said it was a five star and other than the bar staff being very attentive I could grasp anything exceptional about what we had. Our queso flameado was barely melted. The chollen relleno tacos were just good, nothing special.

Co workers wanted to try for lunch a couple. Nice decor, somewhat trendy. The service was great. Salsas had good flavor and chips were fresh. We had the guacamole and chips appetizer. I ordered the ceviche appetizer as my main dish. It was plated great, was a good size portion, but not as fresh as I hoped for. I wasnt able to finish it as the fish was almost a little mushy. My coworkers experience was much better than mine. Id give them another try.

Delicious food and salsa. An authentic flavor that you just dont see often in this area. However, brunch wasnt super affordable. I had 2 tacos and a mule for $45. Perhaps the mandatory tip for being in a 5 person group was to blame?

Just had a meal at this restaurant and I was not impressed. The ambiance was nice, waiter was kind and friendly, prices are too high and the quality of the food was not appealing. The refried beans were dry, the rice tasted like a box mix, have ever seen green rice in a Mexican restaurant, the tacos Al carbon were tasteless. My friend did not finish his meal due to the green rice and tasteless enchiladas. It appears to an in crowd type restaurant. Or possibly it was a bad day. I know I won t go back or recommend Jose s.
