Out of all of the Yama locations, this one is the best. Fantastic service, the physical restaurant itself is decorated better and has a classier set up than the other locations. The servers here are always polite and very talented at their jobs. We re big fans.

I used to love this place but bit anymore! Food quality is changed, used to be great now is just ok. If you like a loud place then the atmosphere is nice. However I rate the service zero due to the fact that for yeh last few times its been very slow and inattentive while the server runs after clients in the parking lot crying for tip. It happened twice, so no thank you, you get a tip only if you deserve it.

Ordered spicy tuna rolls with added avocado and 2 orders of fried gyoza to go. First off, they only added avocado to 2 or 3 rolls and they were rolled horribly to the point that everything fell out of EVERY roll. The fried gyoza wasn t even fried it was all smooshy and super salty to the point where i couldn t eat it anymore. Complete waste of $30

This is not the first time we visited the place. We ordered 2 ramens which we ate before. My soup had terrible smell. My wife soup was bitter and some bad smell. I didnt eat my and asked to change it. Server didnt even ask why I want to change it. Instead he said that he can change only one time. 2 soup that I got had spoiled corn. It supp to be sweet instead it was sour. My wife didnt finish her soup. On our way to car server stopped us claiming why we didnt leave a tip.

Good and super reasonably priced food that fits a variety of tastes in regard to Japanese food! Appreciate that izakaya are open late, as well. There is also a traditional Japanese room. We did not get any sushi but for 4 people it was just under $55 for the table for dinner. Dietary restrictions: They have Ramen that automatically comes with pork but includes a note that alternatives are available upon request.

We had a highly unsatisfactory experience today with our server, Sally. She seated us at our table but never returned to ensure that everything was satisfactory. When it came time to check out, we tipped her 10% in cash. She took the money immediately and responded with a rude attitude, informing us that we should have tipped more than 10%. While the food may be good, the attitude of the employees is equally important. As a Japanese restaurant, it is crucial to uphold not only the quality of the cuisine but also the cultural standards of hospitality and respect.

Very disappointed with the food. I had ordered 2 miso bowls, 2 California rolls and chicken kara age for home delivery. 1. The miso bowl was very bad, the broth smells old and the food ddnt seem lively, the chicken was over cooked and only 4 pieces in the bowl. 2. Chicken kara aage is so dry which makes it harder ( it should be soft), it looks and taste like KFC chicken while kara age is actually very smooth. 3. There was an issue with thr California roll and i ddnt get it with my order. Overall this was a bad experience.

Its okay, but we were expecting something similar to what was on Legacy. Literally nothing is the same. Not the menu, not the drinks, not the specials, nothing. Youd assume that restaurants with the same name would be at least somewhat similar but boy was I proven wrong. I guess that makes me unfairly sour, but there are better sushi places based on the food that I had there. Overpriced, very limited menu compared to what we were expecting, and not at all good for people with dietary restrictions. Again, largely due to menu being so small. Not my favorite but I wont speak for everyone.

Total hole in the wall restaurant with an AMAZING ambience. I started off with a Miso Soup and Kirin. The miso had the tanginess of fish sauce, with lots of white onion. After that I ordered a Philly roll which as you can see from the picture, didnt seem fresh. The sushi rice was dry, and crumbled off. As a meal, I ordered their limited ground wagyu bowl. I was not at all impressed. It came out as a mount of rice topped with ground beef, corn, and green onion which they mixed together in a hot bowl at the table. The flavor profile was non existent aside from the sweet corn.

We tried the spicy miso ramen sushi and a few yakatori options all of it was wonderful. Everything was perfectly seasoned well balenced each bite left us craving more !! When we got the bill I was absolutely stunned it s so hard to find high quality delicious food without an exorbitant price tag exceeding any expectations we might have had!! The restaurant has immaculate energy without being too much for an intimate dinner!! it was bustling full of happy patrons even so we were seated quickly without a reservation on a Friday no less and still received 5 star service !! I cannot wait to come back introduce my loved ones to the yama experience!!!

My husband has been talking about their poppers for years. We finally made it in, and he was right. The poppers are delicious. The sushi, however, was a little lackluster. It definitely didnt seem as fresh as it couldve been. The avocado, for instance - you can see that its already mushy and browning. The restrooms had some great features, but I unfortunately didnt get to enjoy them due to the foul smell and dirty conditions. We arrived just after they opened for dinner service, so I cant really justify the condition of the bathrooms by saying customers had trashed it all afternoon. Everything shouldve been fresh and clean right after opening. The poppers were fantastic, but I dont think we will be back. My husband agreed, it was a little disappointing.

Some of the best quality sashimi and torro Ive had in the North Dallas area. I went in for the ramen, and it was great, but not quite as good as my favorite ramen place in the area. This place is sushi focused, and a decent bowl of miso is on the back of the menu for a reason. The torro and salmon belly won me over instantly! So fresh, clean, and well prepared. I asked for real wasabi, and they brought it right away. The guy behind the bar noticed my appreciation and even brought me a pickled wasabi root as well.

You ever lost your appetite because something just disgusting or annoying happened to you so you don t even want to eat your food anymore no matter how hungry/much you were craving that food?? Well, that s exactly what happened to my family and me at this Yama location. Long story short, DO NOT GO HERE because the service is absolutely absurd!!!! If you do go here, you better double AND triple check your receipt because they will charge you for items you did NOT eat!!!! Right off the bat, service was horrible. Throughout the night, the waitress was rude and lacked proper work ethic, but I blew it off because I just wanted to eat my sashimi and call it a day. But when I saw my receipt included multiple items on there that we did not eat, and it was wayyyy more than it was suppose to be .that was the cherry on top. The only reason why we did not leave this Yama location and go to the Legacy location is because by the time we would ve gotten to the other spot, it would ve been too late to dine in. But guess what, after we paid, we made a to-go order right when we got into our car to pick up at the Legacy location because this one didn t even have the items we wanted - only Legacy offered the extended menu like the Chinese Delight selections. So if you want that, do NOT go here! Save your time and go to Yama on Legacy. You ll get better food, more options, and great service. I hope the manager and waitress read this review because I surely told them they need to revisit their customer guidelines. I wish I could ve recorded the conversation the waitress were having with my family and me. Straight up RUDE. I also informed the other staff at the Legacy location so the owners can have a team huddle and see where areas of improvement may occur because having a franchise with one location being better than the other seems to be the trend nowadays. I just hope this Yama will do better AND be better. They re lucky their sashimi was good because that s why they re getting 2 stars instead of 1. If it wasn t good, I would ve gave them 1 star

My first visit. Great little hole in the wall place. We stopped by on a Friday after dinner time for some beer & beer bites. We wanted for 20 min & was seated and the orders were taken right away. Chilled beer & we ordered a grilled squid (this was so good), then we ordered a spicy motsuni which is beef stomach, tofu & vegetables cooked with spicy miso soup. The soup was surprisingly delicious

We went here cause its the only ramen place open until 10:30pm on Sunday nights. The chicken breast skewer was good, but I thought it could use a dipping sauce. I got the yama ramen and my boyfriend got the miso ramen. The yama ramen was alright, but it felt like a there way too many noodles and not enough veggies. The Tonkotsu meat was alright. The noodles were thick and a little chewy too. I got chicken heart skewers. They were yummy. I got curry rice with chicken subbed in. The curry sauce was lukewarm, and the chicken slices were kinda thin. I also didnt get much curry sauce. My bf got the pork tonkotsu and he liked it, but he said it wasnt enough. Service was slow

This was a great experience and a lot of fun. We have never been to a Japanese restaurant before and had a couple of friends accompany us who are regulars. That really helped us in figuring out what we should order. We ordered a variety of sea food small plates and sake. Everything was delicious and Im looking forward to going back!

Nabeyaki Udon was way too salty. Udon itself was over cooked. Skewers were bland. Sauce somewhat saved it. Miso ramen was undercooked. Ordered 2 cocktails that basically had no alcohol. Sushi rolls were decent. Don t get anything outside of sushi or sashimi here. Everything else is a waste. But more than anything, service is extremely slow and forgetful. I understand you can make a mistake by forgetting to put in our order. But then making us wait over an hour for mediocre sushi rolls with no explanation, no apologies, avoiding us until the sushi chefs make the order? Not coming here again. Also why are the floors so sticky?

Everything we ate was delicious! We came on a Sunday around 6:30 for dinner. It was busy but we did not have to wait. Service was friendly and quick. Some of the things we ordered was the seafood creamy udon, takoyaki, Cha su pork, salmon sashimi, salmon dynamite, rainbow roll, and shrimp tempura. The seafood was fresh but the flavors are what stands out. Our favorites were the seafood creamy udon and salmon dynamite. We can t wait to come back to try the other items on the menu.

The waiter chased us out the restaurant because we ordered food and did not tip. After him explaining his boss doesn t pay him enough money, I tipped him. After tipping him on the machine, he looks at the tip amount and says next time don t come . Very unprofessional service and nothing special about his service while eating. Either the manager needs to pay their employees a fair wage OR the waiters need to calm down and not chase customers outside the restaurant. Won t be coming back.

This was my first time here and it wont be my last. The Hama-peno and other appetizers were great! The Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen was just the right amount of heat for me but, is legitimately spicy. Make sure you like heat. We also tried the various ice cream flavors and while all were good, the mango and strawberry flavors were the favorite. Our server was also super nice and very helpful!! 10 of 10 experience overall!!

Sushi and small bites were good but they apparently forgot about our yakitori, or they let it sit on the grill for far too long. When it finally came out, the meat was dry and some of the items were too hard to even eat. The server was nice and removed those inedible items off our bill, but I cannot give a 5-star rating given that portion of the meal. Its too bad because the rest of the experience was good.

Got ripped off. Dont recomend! I ordered mapo tofu and they only filled the container less then halfway full. Ordered a side of rice as well and it was a really tiny cup. If you are paying extra for rice since its not included it shouldnt be such a small amount. For 13 dollars the amount of food I recieved to go was a shame. Would not go again. Overpriced for amount.

This has to be my favorite restaurant ever. The quality of the Japanese food you enjoy here for the price is unmatched. Staff is always attentive, food comes out quickly (sometimes a delay on sushi but its freshly prepared/rolled), drink are sometimes delayed but understandable because this place can fill up on a random Tuesday. Jeff (the bartender sunday/monday nights) is my absolute favorite. As someone who is a service industry vet, Jeffs knowledge and service are unmatched. If you come on a Sunday or Monday definitely sit at the bar you will love the time you spend there. Try the spicy wings, gyoza, sake sour, eat hella sushi, and fill up on the ramen. The price point blows my mind extremely economical especially for the high quality you receive

I LOVE YAMA! Literally the best sushi hands down. My go-to apps are the spicy edamame and spicy cucumber. The salmon sashimi is always fresh, definitely try the tomato-wasabi salmon specialty sashimi. My favorite rolls are sundae and double pleasure roll. Lastly, the Lychee Martini is so delicious.

Great for a quick bit and have a beer, sake, or something stronger, it s even better after a hard day s work and you want something light and some alcohol to go with it and chat or complain with your friends and colleagues about the day and have a good laugh about it. If you want a place that is great as a bar but still has good quality yet hearty food after a hard days work, this is the place you should go, not as cheap as fast food but definitely better and healthier than even your average McDonald s.

Food Here is absolutely amazing. Our service was almost great. Not as quick of service as I would have appreciated. The atmosphere seems a bit dated, and a bit crowded. Tables are almost too close together, but I suppose that is expected in a Japanese restaurant. Pricing in my opinion was a bit on the expensive side. Bathrooms need more attention to detail. Overall experience was great. Will definitely be going back. Parking: Not a very large parking lot.
