We should have known from the empty parking lot not to go here! We werent sure our waitress was even our waitress until after we had been there for 15 minutes. It took over 20 minutes to get our drinks. My order was wrong and this place just has so much potential that its incredibly disappointing. Hope they can get new management in there before this place goes out of business, because thats where its headed.

Taboo Restaurant provided us with a noteworthy dining experience. The atmosphere is very pleasant and everything is decorated nicely. Food is phenomenal! Our sever, Everardo, was extremely knowledgeable about what the restaurant offers, fast to throw out recommendations and thoroughly answered our questions. He offered to park our stroller out of the way and returned it to us without us prompting when we finished dining. He was perfectly aware of everyone s needs without ever hovering! Omaha Ribeye- very juicy and tender just needed a tad bit more flavor. Mashed potatoes were creamy and loaded with flavor. 7/10 Pacifico fettuccine- best chicken Alfredo I ve ever had 10/10 (My only complaint is that the genre of music they were playing did not match the ambiance. The volume was also a bit too high and the speakers lacked clarity)

Everything about this restaurant was exceptional. I wish I could remember my servers name, because he was amazing, but every staff member in this establishment was kind to us. We went for my birthday and I got a free entrée from a select menu, and a free scoop of ice cream. I took a reccomendation from our server for my drink choice, and it was so delicious too. Its a bit pricer than most restaurants in Odessa, but honestly you get what you pay for, and that was well worth it. Cant wait to come to town again and enjoy that delicious buffalo cauliflower again.

Atmosphere was great Crystal the bartender was was great. We ordered Rockefeller oysters. They were not Rockefeller. Ordered steak and eggs. The steak was a chuck cut very chewy. Don t order the steak and eggs unless they change their steak cut. My friend ordered the Ribeye tacos were very good!! Cheese steak and sandwich my buddy ordered was very good. Fries were very good. Over all i think it was a one and done. I spent $60 on steak and eggs and (Rockefeller oysters $25) and two sweet teas pretty much overpriced overall!!

Paid $28 for a roll and most of it was rice. Ordered the flank steak and it was chewy and tough. My fiancé ordered the pasta Alfredo and that was dry and looked just sad. I came back because the first time around my steak was great. Very disappointed. If you re going to charge these prices make sure you can deliver. $153 with tip

So far this is the best place Ive eaten in Midland. I had the taboo shrimp as one of my appetizers and that was very good. Chips and salsa was ok, nothing too special w that. The main dish I had, the Omaha steak, was perfectly cooked. The waitress, Chrystal M., did an excellent job w the presentation, cutting the steak open to show that it was cooked to my liking. I had the toffee cake for dessert and that was the perfect end to an almost perfect meal.

I need to first state that our server was the only decent part about our first and only experience at this establishment. Cassandra apologized repeatedly for the issues and did everything within her control to try to make this a pleasant experience. My Boyfriend took me on a date to Taboo last night. Upon entry, we were seated at a table where the cloth on the booths were absolutely filthy. We ordered drinks and appetizers and the drinks took more than half an hour to arrive. Our server explained that there was a party in the back and the bar was behind but I saw two people working the bar and it still didn t justify the delay in my opinion. The menu at this place showed that the restaurant lacked any direction. Was this a steak house? Sushi restaurant? Seafood spot? The items that came out with dry ice? Why!!? This isn t hocus pocus. The ranch used was disgusting. Out of a cheap bottle, thin, just gross. The sushi roll ordered for my main entree was the Fabi roll. In theory it sounded good but it was doused in so much sriracha and something else you couldn t taste anything other than that. The breading on the outside of the roll was gritty. It was a tiny roll with no more than 8 pieces and it was $30. Major disappointment. My boyfriend got the ribeye and mash. The steak had no flavor. Undercooked. Full of tendons..he couldn t eat it. We got our food before we ever got a drink other than water. And we ordered a second round before our first ever came and it took another half hour to get those the bill was over $200 and I wouldn t have willingly paid &50 for what we got. Shameful. We won t be back and I wouldn t advise anyone coming here at all.

The food there is decent, but for the high price , they don t even bring out no bread and butter, if you don t order an appetizer, you just sitting there sipping on water. Every restaurant in town has better prices and they at least bring some bread and butter, or chips n salsa. My waiter didn t even come back around to refill my drink. Trashy service if you ask me. Steak was too salty. The nice decor of the restaurant doesn t equal the quality of service. I d be better off going to the Olive Garden or red lobster lol

We celebrated my birthday at this restaurant and had an exceptional experience. The exterior and interior design of the establishment is absolutely beautiful. My husband and I have come to this beautiful place for a long time now, I always loved to bring my grandkid here for dinner. Recently, the staff has seemed to become standoffish and rude, presumably from a new group brought in? And the food has extremely decreased in quality. The middle of the food always seems to be cold and raw, and the flavor just isnt there anymore. This place will never be the same as it was. They seem to not care about quality, cleanliness, or the customers. I truly dont know what happened here but my husband and I will never come here again, I hope this place turns back into what they use to be.

Really wanted to enjoy this place loved the atmosphere but service was bad we were the first ones there, so I know from working myself it takes a minute to get organized waitresses sat us down they hadn t made coffee yet waited 15 minutes for, she stood there and gossip with the other girl that got there and made a slow way back to or table to get our order. Didnt wait long for our food but for the price of the food, it s not there it was not bad but not good for the price and I never mind the price if the food is really good. I had to ask for salt and pepper and had to ask for napkins, my napkin was still damp from i guess getting washed. I really want this place to succeed because we don t have many good place to eat I hope this is place makes it but felt this needs to reach the person in charge.

This place was phenomenal! I give it a 10 out of 10! We came here for our four year, anniversary celebration, and I m glad we decided to come to this restaurant. We sat on the bar side, and the bartender was also our waiter and he was amazing! The atmosphere itself was very fulfilling and welcoming, while also being relaxing and romantic. The food was so full of flavor, and cooked to perfection. The adult beverages were top-tier. A small glass of iced tea, coffee cup size $2.50 and refills are charged again. No water served. Le Bube burger - not dressed - charged for extras - childrens size portion. Pasta was ok - lacked flavor and shrimp in the pasta were plain, but well placed for presentation. The prices are outrageous and the portions are small. Prepare to pay out the bazooka. Atmosphere is pleasant and staff servers are kind and attentive. Overall, I will never eat here again. I paid well for the atmosphere and the staff.

Had reservations at 8pm. Arrive 8:01 due to traffic. They didnt have a table ready, so we had to wait, with another couple that had reservations. They gave us wine while we waited. I thought this was nice and things would get better. Finally got sat at 830. Orderd drinks and an appetizer. The appetizer showed up before the drinks. The oyster Rockefeller was good. When the drinks arrived, we put our order in. Ribeye rare and Filet Medium. At 9:45, our meal finally arrived. Ribeye was way past well, and Filet cooked to Medium. Sent the Ribeye back to the kitchen. 10 oclock my Ribeye came back to the table missing sides but cooked correctly. Service was terrible by the time the manager came to check on our experience. I was done and just ready to leave.

Service was pretty good. The Maki we got was the best thing. Would go back for that. Was dissapointed with the bone marrow. Was not even a spoonful and was not served with any kind of bread or sauce. I got the salmon. It was a little dry and didnt have much seasoning. My husband got the filet which was okay. Not much seasoning on his as well. The creamed greens were good. My husband got the apple bourbon dessert. States it comes with bourbon infused ice cream. Tasted liked reg vanilla. I got the crepes with fruit. Crepes were rock hard in some places and difficult to even cut with a knife. Would go back for the Maki, but we werent really in love with anything else for the price. Oh and you cant substitute sides and the sides are a little pricey.

Took 40 minutes from the time we ordered to the time we were served. We had a burger that was undercooked and soggy. Atlantic Fettuccine was good but slim for the price .. The staff was awkward towards us, I know I was under dressed, but there was no reason for some of the things that said or that were done. So theres good and bad. Food quality was excellent. The service was horrific, even for Permian Basin standards. Its new so I would guess they need to work some kinks out... the wait staff (or at least ours) needs to know the bar options and menu much better. Ill try it again based on the food quality.

The atmosphere is very so elegant, great for a date night. Drinks at the bar are 100% Taylor, the bartender is new but very friendly and made excellent drinks, very attentive so we ate at the bar. Horrible food, pasta sauce was rancid, steak was cold and bland, and the cocktails were abysmal. Sushi was worse than grocery store bought sushi. Lobster bisque was tomato soup with a lobster tail. Pricing was high for sub par food and the service was poor and untrained.

Food was absolutely fantastic. We had the spicy tuna maki & prime rib tacos for the appetizer. The octopus for a shared entree and the stroopwaffle & apple bourbon pie for dessert. We had some super cool cocktails with the bubbling la Negra! Tuna maki was fresh and tasty but unsurprising. Tacos were tender and very good if a bit salty. Octopus was flame grilled to perfection. Stroopwaffle pudding was an explosion of flavor and a bit overpowering. Apple bourbon pie was phenomenal. I could have eaten two! Service was friendly and attentive. Cassandra check on us often and asked us about every step of our meal. Atmosphere was fun and it looks like they really put a lot of thought into the combinations. Minus one star because unfortunately it was freezing inside.

Would not go back. Had a dietary restrictions for gluten asked for no croutons. Crotons ended up on my salad asked them to take it back and still were there when they returned. If I dont have issues tonight due to contamination issues it will be a miracle. Service was also extremely slow and my fellow diners food was extremely bland. It is trying to be like a bizzaro version of Cowboy Prime in Midland with its decor and menu. However, like keeping the Casa Ole bathroom stalls with the flashy decorations it fails. I am a local to Odessa and was very excited to experience this restaurant. Immediately upon getting to the restaurant the hostess claimed we did not have a reservation regardless of me giving name and showing her receipt of my reservation confirmation. She was very rude and claimed she would seat us anyway. We then sat down and were sitting for 30 min with not one person coming to check on us, or take our order, or even give us water. We decided to leave and upon leaving, the hostess condescendingly told us to have a great night. It s very sad to see new businesses that seem to be a great addition to the community fall short. I would not recommend this to anyone and is absolutely not worth the pricing on this menu either. I hope to save someone else from losing an hour of their Saturday night on frustration as a result of this establishment.

Taboo restaurant is a spectacular place, beautiful, pleasant and bohemian, its decoration makes it among the most elegant I have visited, the attention they gave us was special, professional and very kind from the young Luis, his food is exquisite, the Roasted octopus was very delicious, taken out of the coals on time, the garlic salmon was also very delicious, 100 points for the cook, they have very good equipment inside the kitchen and outside, their cleaning is good and efficient, their prices are reasonable including What a fantastic evening you are going to enjoy, we had a great time in this beautiful and elegant restaurant, we will return!!

Not sure what this place is trying to be. Odd menu that is all over the place. Is it a sushi bar, is it a steakhouse, or what? First got sat at a broken table with a broken chair. Moved to another table that wasnt broken. Looked at the menu, a dozen choices for sushi, a few steak choices, a couple of sandwiches. The only chicken option was what appeared to be a lids item, chicken Alfredo. The steaks come with 2 stalks of asparagus and thats it. They do have other sides, but Im not willing to pay $12 for fries. I understand that they are trying to be high end, but it just doesnt do it for me. Some of the finishes are either unfinished or torn up already. The big screen on the ceiling, as different as it may be, is very distracting as it flashes a lot .

Tried to take the wife here on Friday for her bday dinner. They were not busy at all. Could see maybe 4-5 tables sat the rest of the place was empty. We were told to wait while they got a table ready, this took maybe 5 mins, no big deal. We were sat in the back and apparently forgotten and over looked. After waiting a few minutes and no one came by we started a timer, we sat there waiting while server after server just walked by us not even acknowledging our presence. After the timer reached 20 minutes we got up to leave and the lady behind the counter was just looking at her phone and not even looking up, said thank you for coming. We told her we were there 20 mins and no one came to even get a drink order. All that was said was OK, not even looking up from her phone. I guess this is typical service for Odessa. Will not be attempting to go back. Dietary restrictions: It s great for someone dieting, since you never get served. Great way to cut calories.

My recent visit to this highly rated restaurant was a complete disappointment. Despite the hefty price tag, three out of the first five menu items we ordered were unavailable. The cocktails were undrinkable, prompting us to opt for a bottle instead. The manager only showed up when called and, despite promises to take care of us, nothing was deducted from our tab. I truly enjoy a great dining experience this was not that. The restaurant is beautiful I took some great pics. Our server was so sweet and she kept trying to accommodate us but overall I would not choose to go back. My mimosa was all cranberry juice, they didn t have any oysters they didn t have any charcuterie they didn t have any tuna tartar they didn t have any cucumbers or sparkling water. Then we asked for a bottle of wine and it literally took 20 minutes to arrive. We asked for the manager and after he put his coat back on he came over with no intentions of really offering us any assistance. Just platitudes of how they ran out of caviar because they only prefer 2 oz last Tuesday and they ran out because it s so expensive. We ordered champagne and were given Andre brut. The atmosphere didn t disappoint considering remembering the previous decor. The food looked remarkable and as requested. However the seasoning was very lacking. My beautiful bride had the salmon, and I had the aged ribeye steak. Both dishes were very bland in reference to the seasoning again. Not only my complaint but everyone else in our party of 15. The service for this high end establishment is subpar. Even after several re-request before getting our beverages for refills. This place has potential in the area with a few tweaks. Extensive training for the staff on how to take care of the patrons. Lower the price a bit if the prior isn t done. For what the meals cost I d truly expect better.

TRY HARDER TO BE TABOO I can honestly say this is the first restaurant I have been to that you can buy a $145 steak that only comes with a half cooked garlic bulb and no sides. If you do want sides like asparagus $12/ Sweet potato brulee from a can $16 with unmelted sugar on top. They have the potential to be great but lack the drive or attitude . The music is a great melody of men singing womens songs and women singing mens songs. The restroom was not stocked with toiletries and has the left over smell of excrement. If I would have went to the bathroom before eating I would have walked out.

My daughter and I ate dinner here last week. Absolutely the very best sushi ever. Makes Osaka seem like a fast food option. First of all food was cold and when we got served I was missing a fork and my wife nothing to drink. She ordered a glass of wine for it to take 20 minutes after food was served. Rib eye plate cost $55 with a side of asparagus and garlic. The lady kept forcing me to get a tomahawk steak for $ 100 dollars a plate. Service is so unprofessional being a luxury place. The music is not right for the atmosphere. Please don t waste your time and money, you re better off going to a steakhouse half the price, better taste and a professional service! This place is absolutely beautiful. The staff were attentive without being overbearing. I started with the spicy Paloma, it was refreshing and delicious. We ordered the spring mix salad and charcuterie board to start. I had sushi, the rainbow and spicy tuna roll it was perfect. My husband got the filet and truffle fries. The place is definitely nice. We were excited about visiting this place since we saw the construction going on. Staff is very friendly and professional. My only complaint is the is the food. We tried cauliflower steak as an appetizer, which made sure I will not need any chapstick for the rest of the week. Also ordered two ribeyes at medium. However, we definitely felt they were rare. We did not complain about it. Definitely, for the price we paid, I would think a chef definitely would know the difference of how cooked a steak is just by touch. Great size of steak and great tenernous. I hate to put a review like this, but we were definitely left disappointed. The place is new, and I hope we just didnt make the correct selection. The prices are high, but with a place this nice, I dont expect less. I do, however, expect some absolutely jaw-dropping food. I just can not say we experienced that today.
