The staffing has been great. Everytime I walk into the facility Im always great by name and with a smile. The staff that I have talked to have been very friendly and Ive been been talked to by clients who live there have been telling me about how they are so great full to have staff who really care about them. The place is very clean. Im very impressed with the staff and service there.

Took my mother to visit a friend, who had been at the facility for several months. I was impressed with the caring nature of the staff and how clean the facility looked. Our friend was getting a pedicure later that day and had a hair appointment later that week. That is a service NOT offered at other facilities. Our friend had forgotten and was gently reminded, while we were there. It is a safe facility I would feel good having a loved one admitted and cared by staff.

I spent two weeks at Legend Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in September 2024. ALL of the staff - nurses, therapists, doctors, cafeteria personnel etc, were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this Center to friends and family. It was a very pleasant experience.

Much better than we expected. My dad was at Legend Oaks for about 1.5 weeks. He said he was glad to have the daily rehab, felt the staff kept the place clean, and didn t notice any resident missing care they needed. There s always preferences, of course, regarding better coffee or food or less noisy neighbors but it s a temporary situation for rehab, my dad had no complaints about his care and was very thankful for the rehab team that helped him get up and moving again. I ve read other reviews and agree some wings are warm when it s hot outside. I visited daily and never noticed neglect or garbage as described. Perhaps it varies by the wing a person resides in or the frequency at which friends/family visit. For me, I ll recommend Legend Oaks over other facilities in the area.

I am writing this review to express my extreme disappointment and outrage at the abysmal care my family member received at Legend Oaks New Braunfels. The level of neglect and incompetence displayed by this facility is not just unacceptable it s downright dangerous. Unfortunately I had to rate at least one star, but if I could I would not only rate zero stars but ask Google to consider a rating scale in the negative direction as that is where I would rate this facility. For two weeks, we continuously alerted the staff about the alarming condition of wounds on my family members limbs. Despite our repeated concerns, the staff willfully ignored the situation. By the time they finally took action, it was far too late. My family member had to be placed on antibiotics, and just six days later, the Nurse Practitioner determined that an amputation was necessary due to drying gangrene. NINETEEN DAYS had passed since we first brought this issue to their attention! This shocking delay and lack of urgency nearly cost my family member their life and ultimately resulted in the loss of a limb. The front desk staff, though sweet and courteous, are sadly the only redeeming quality of this facility. They should seriously consider running for the hills, as this facility is poorly administered and reflects a complete disregard for patient care. The case manager we dealt with was heartless, deceptive, and completely dishonest. It was clear to us that they were more interested in covering their tracks than in providing any real assistance or care. The nursing staff was not only inadequately trained but also utterly uncaring. We witnessed them manhandling patients by yanking them to stand using the front and back of their shorts and underwear. They used hard plastic torso support straps that left my family member in severe pain and covered in bruises. This is nothing short of abuse. The facility is in horrible condition, the water machine in the dining area is covered in limescale and is evident it has not been cleaned or serviced in years. On one occasion we dared risk taking my loved one into the courtyard and when we opened the grill lid there was an old, molded and decaying onion half sitting on the grates. Clearly never attended to. And if you have a loved one on a special diet, such as a diabetic... well you can forget that being addressed properly. Even before we were discharged, a nurse investigator from HHSC was on-site asking questions about the facility clearly, we were not the only ones who had raised alarms. This place should be shut down. If they cannot find and retain adequate staff to care for their patients, they have no business being in operation. I urge anyone considering this facility for their loved ones to look elsewhere. This place is a danger to its residents, and their negligence has left my family devastated.

My Daughter and I went to visit a good friend of mine who was supposed to get rehabilitation in this place, a special diet , was admitted with blood clots in her legs and we found her sitting in her wheelchair!! FOR HOURS!! With her legs down and not elevated!! When my daughter and I first entered into the building there was trash on the floor. I should have taken a photo. But was shocked at the filth of the place and how hot it was inside because outside was well over 110*. We noticed that our delicately health related friend was being ignored totally the entire two hours we were there visiting with here and her family. It was so hot in the room. Our friend told us she had not had a shower in 6days since she been there, and had been asking for one. The food she had been eating was not on her diet!! She was a diabetic!! Everything they were giving her were starches!! Try calling the nurses station and get someone to answer the phone. Asking them to put in for a transfer to a different facility, they said they did and lied to our faces!! Do not take your loved ones to this place. My Daughter and I noticed the other staff sitting on the couches talking to each other and not helping the patients. Taking the to the shower, bathroom!! Disgusting!! Neglected elderly loved ones. If you want them, left that way not mine!!

Dont even consider this place!!! Zero stars is what they deserve! We moved our mom to a different rehab hospital after the care she was receiving here. Medicine dosage was incorrect even after reviewing it with them. NOBODY knew anything about her meds, therapy, if a doctor was going to see her, what her care plan was, the list goes on. She waited three days for a shower. I called for 3 hours two days in a row and never got an answer at the nurses station. The front desk took my name and number to the nurse and still no call back. The day I was there they lifted her by her pant waistband to put her in her wheelchair. We asked them to use the transfer belt and not her clothing or arms. Thankfully, my sister lives near and went everyday to check on her. Mom had a bloodclot in her leg and they left her for hours in a wheelchair with her legs down causing severe swelling and pain. Mom pressed the nurses button and nobody came. Her roommate had to get someone to help her to the bathroom after she waited almost 40 minutes for assistance. The person delivering dinner was the only person who could help. Oh, the food is awful and they dont follow any dietary guidelines like low sodium. My sister brought a fan to her room due to how hot the room was in this Texas heat. My mom left in worse condition then she arrived! Longest 7 days waiting for a bed at the new rehab place. Mom has been in rehab before and we know what constitutes good care. This place was neglectful and dishonest. I hope this review helps someone keep their loved ones from suffering. I do highly recommend New Braunfels Regional Rehabilitation Hospital as an alternative. Please heed my warning. Dont let the photos deceive you.

My husband s sister was in the hospital in Dallas and we decided we wanted to move her closer to us in New Braunfels . We were at a loss to know what to do or where to begin with care , when a friend recommended Legend Oaks . We arrived late on a Sunday night to move our sister in and we were greeted with open arms and loving care at Legend Oaks! She has been at Legend Oaks for 18 months now and her health has improved . This place is great as far as rehabilitation hospitals go. The staff is very polite and attentive to the patients. The rooms are clean and it doesnt smell bad like some other places. The management listens and takes action on any concerns you have. The food is decent, not home cooking but not bad. I would highly recommend Lengend Oaks to anyone.

My mother-in-law was at Legend Oaks for the last 5 months of her life (2023-2024). She was not an easy patient. We visited her often and never once did we find her in a state of neglect. About half the time I visited, there was a staff member already in her room taking care of her (they didnt know I was coming), and the conversations I overheard (before they were aware of my presence) were always respectful and often compassionate despite her treatment of the staff. Legend Oaks did a fabulous job of communicating with us regularly and addressed any concerns or suggestions we had for making her stay more comfortable. Thank you, Legend Oaks staff, for being such a blessing to our family.

My mother was greatly cared for during her short stay. She said the staff was very friendly and helpful to her. It is extremely clean & smelled nice. This was the first time Id used a physicality of care, I needed a break as a care giver. I was comfortable leaving her, being well cared for. She said the food was okay. My 81 yr. old Mom was at this nursing facility for about 3 weeks and during her stay, everyone from admissions, nursing staff, physical therapists, CNAs, Nurse Practitioner, all staff were very professional, communicative, and caring. I was very pleased with her overall care and would recommend this facility. The only concern I did have was that a nurse mentioned that her call light wasnt working properly at the nurses station. Not sure if that ever got fixed but when I asked a CNA how they knew when she needed help, she said they just keep a good eye on her! My Mom did fall one morning and was found near the toilet, however I believe this was due to her own independent ways of not remembering to use her wheelchair and the fact thatvshe was healing quickly from proper care! I was notified immediately. She had a badly bruised forehead but was told she was fine and didnt need any immediate medical attention. I know how independent she is so I brought her home instead of deciding to keep her there long term. She has been happier with family but in the future will keep this facility in mind if needed! I forgot to mention the adorable send off my Mom received from all the residents and some of their family members as she got wheeled out after I discharged her!!! Made her so happy!

I was a therapy patient at Legend Oaks New Braunfels for almost 3 weeks beginning March 15,2023. I came there for rehab after my 5th major spine surgery. I did not want to go to a place that was Skilled Nursing. However, I was quickly very humbled at the expert care that I received from the most kind, compassionate and caring professional team of medical people . The Staff, doctors, nurses , CNA s, Hall Helpers all met my needs in a timely fashion with genuine concern. I felt like I was being taken care of by my family ! I felt respected and that my healing, comfort and my well being was their priority. Their therapy team was extremely well trained and thorough. I improved greatly under their workouts . They maintained happy spirits which was another reason I looked forward to my sessions!!! They charted my progress daily.. The kitchen crew prepared well balanced meals that were very very good. I looked forward to mealtime! Part of me was sad when I had to leave those that were so committed in helping me to heal . I truly did not have a single complaint when I left. It was an ideal great experience for me . If I have to make this journey again, I will not hesitate to return to this same facility! I debated on posting this bc i am an employee so some may not take my post seriously, but when my dad needed out patient rehab, I didn t hesitate to connect him with our therapy team. Jordan, Cara, and Brittany were awesome with my dad. They were super concerned with his heart rate and modified their exercises. The team was awesome with my dad, unfortunately he took a turn for the worse and ended up passing. My dad never had a heart issue but the team s concerned made us aware something else might be going on. I m so grateful for what they did for my dad. My dad always bragged on how he felt better after seeing them. Such compassion from the entire team.

Legend Oaks New Braunfels is a WONDERFUL place for your loved one. They are warm and welcoming to guests. The nursing and care staff are so caring and compassionate! The PT department is amazing!! My 86 yr old mother-in-law had a 2 month stay for rehab and received excellent care from ALL caregivers. She made great progress. The facility is clean and well maintained. They have fun activities for patients(bingo, happy hour, movie time). Look no further, this is the place!

My husband did outpatient rehab therapy at this fine place. His therapists were Jordan, Cara, and Brittney. They were 3 of the finest people and most professional and knowledgeable people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. They all treated my husband like he was the only patient they had when they worked with him. He had a problem with regulating his heart rate and they went over and above to make sure that during this therapy his heart rate stayed in a good range. They showed such care and compassion for him. It may have been physical therapy but they treated the whole patient. My husband couldn t wait to go to his therapy sessions and worked as hard as he could under their watchful eye. He was eager to do the exercises at home that they taught him to do. I spent over 30 years in the medical field and never had the pleasure of working with such dedicated and caring people. Every person that we came into contact with was absolutely fantastic. I would recommend this facility to anyone. Our experience there was absolutely great and they made the work seem like fun. Many thanks to such a wonderful team.

They knew exactly what to do with me. The CNA a were wonderful. They brightened my day every morning when I woke up, especially Martel. My experience with Legend Oaks has been exceptional. The facility is far cleaner than any other nursing home I have ever experienced. I visit my mother there quite frequently and she is always fresh and her hair is always clean. She tells me all about her days and activities there, as well as her nurses and therapists and how well they treat her and I can attest to that as well, as I have been there during some of the speech and physical therapy and have been very impressed with what I witnessed. The admin side is also very good. Mrs. Brenda Martinez has been a huge help in trying to get the Medicaid approved and has been a guiding light for me from day one, even giving me her personal phone number so I could ask questions whether she was at work or not and she never left me hanging. I just want everyone to know this facility is the real McCoy and what I consider to be top notch ! Keep up the good work !!

First, the purpose of a Rehab is to start the healing process and usually is a stressful time. The staff does their best to treat every patient. If I asked them for anything they would try to do it ASAP. I would stress family members need to be there and not expect the staff to read minds. If you think something needs to be done, ask. The staff at Legend Oaks will do their best!

Go to pick my mom up from rehab. Shes been there maybe a month and a half had clothes I took her a bunch of clothes. Go to get her they knew I was coming to get her. Had no discharge papers ready said they didnt know. Was in a gown from the hospital had no pants nothing to wear out of there dont know what happened to her clothes all of them had her name in them thats got to be the worst place Ive ever seen.

On visiting a relative in rehab there for medical reasons, we pulled into an easily accessible place with good parking. Security at the door was adequate, and we had made no prior appointment- but got let in shortly. The foyer was clean, modern and attractive. They had decorated an island with holiday fare that was attractive, and there were additional touches near a few large plants. The receptionist was friendly and professional both. We took our temperure as part of precautionary sign in. One patient rolled up to joke with us. It seemed a happy place for the other patients who greeted me in the halls. I passed a warm inviting cafeteria area in transit. My relative was very happy with their great meals and requent attendance. Also with the therapy to help with walking they gave her. All in all, this was one of the nicest, friendliest places Id gone to. Staff were well trained and professional without it taking away from their kindness. I would recommend this Healthcare facility to anyone needing one there.

OT and PT are great professionals. The rest for me was a horrible experience. The Dr was good. My room smelled horrible for days. I sat hours in the empty big room at night to get away from the awful bowels smell. When I asked to leave just a day early we were punished and they are now refusing to help with the process of ordering a wheel chair. I can not weight bare. Its not a luxury. When it came to the discharge meeting only one person a nurse showed up. Said it would take one day to get a wheelchair. Still waiting, dont return calls ever.

During my mother s hellish two month stay at Legend Oaks, she developed bed sores and necrotic tissue on her feet, along with rarely being changed, bathed, or attended to (there are multiple reviews highlighting how infrequently patients are checked on, something I witnessed every day I visited). Some nurses openly complained about having her as a patient, even when I was within earshot, with zero compassion for her condition. She had terminal metastatic brain and spinal cancer the metastases pushing against her brain were causing major, gut-wrenching changes in her personality and demeanor, but to the nurses she was just snotty and demanding and someone they would rather ignore. Covid outbreaks amongst the staff were (are?) also rampant and my grandmother contracted Covid from visiting my mother here. She was unable to spend the last two weeks of my mother s life with her because of this. Get your loved ones to other facilities in San Antonio or Austin, so they can, at the absolute least, avoid dying a very miserable death here, where $$$ is prioritized over your loved one s quality of life. Lastly, I also see positive 5-star reviews for this facility from various staff members, including the executive director Garrett Newsome, which is a blatant conflict of interest.

When we were told that my father had less than a month to live, and because we live an hour away from the Hospice service, we chose to trust Legend Oaks with my fathers final days. BIG MISTAKE!!! He was on Pleasure feed(meaning he had to be served soft foods by someone, because he was aspirating on his food. Chicken Parm looked delicious, but was not on the diet his doctor ordered. Then the day the Hospice nurse informed us that he was actively dying, my mother and I were bombarded by staff like used car salesmen to get Dad started on Physical Therapy. Dont you want your father stronger so when he gets home... DO NOT TRUST YOUR LOVED ONES CARE TO THIS PLACE.

My 93 year old grandfather had to go into nursing and rehab care last year after a bad fall and breaking his hip. He is very stubborn and independent, and he really didnt want to leave his home, but the staff and management at this facility treated him with respect and care. Our family appreciates them and highly recommend.

The nurses are lazy. People who are bedridden are not being taken care of. They are not hiring any nurses. Why?? They need more employees. The office workers are doing some of the work. But why is this one nurse always sitting instead of working?? Some patients are waiting most of the day for a drink of water. This place should be shut down permanently.

HAIR BY RICARDO My favorite hair cut by far are from him he s moved from JC Salons to a rehab facility across from the hospital such a nice and relaxing studio! I got my mom, brother, and sister to go and we will not go to anyone else! He is phenomenal, your hair will never feel better or healthier! You ll sit down and become instant friends, the atmosphere of his studio is light, beautiful, and incredibly comfortable. You can be confident going in knowing you ll walk out with a haircut you ll love! Love Love Love Him!

AVOID AVOID AVOID my 91 year old aunt came here after breaking her thigh bone due to a fall, she was supposed to recover from the operation and improve but the opposite happened. while physical therapy was fine, it was the nursing care that is beyond description. she was left sitting on her toilet bed pan for a very long time, she was considered a dementia patient because she didnt know what day it was, mind you, she was in a single room not watching tv due to her bad sight and she also doesnt read any newspapers, so how are you supposed to know which day it is? she suffers from congestive heart disease and her legs are swollen with water, at legend oaks her legs were WEEPING, meaning there was a puddle of water when she was sitting down, no one cared about this except one person from physical therapy, the medication sheet was all over the map, she did NOT receive the medication she needed, she was given ANTI DEPRESSANTS!!! when all she wanted was to be realeased from this hell hole where the patient nurse ratio is not acceptable. this I was told by a nurse who worked there for 3 months, she said that it was too much to handle, she often came home crying saying that all they care is about the money, please avoid putting your loved one here. I had to fly over here from Germany because it seemed like her condition was worsening. she only got out of there because she went on a hunger and medication strike. NEVER again! and no i do NOT care about feedback from the owner, just mind your own business, thank you

UPDATE: 7/23/18- Melissa- thank you for responding to my review almost 2 months after we pulled my grandfather out of your facility. The response time doesnt surprise me after enduring a couple weeks of care at Legends. My grandfather is thriving at Kirkwood in comparison with Legends and removing him was the best decision my family made. This place has turned out to be an absolute disgrace in so many levels! Understaffed already and then to add insult to injury one of the very few nurses sits on her butt perfecting eye rolls while we hurry up and wait! My grandfather was admitted a week ago and has absolutely regressed! After a stroke, NB Rehab made amazing progress and at the end of this week hes regressed tenfold ! He fell out of bed and we werent notified for several days... then thinking this may be why hes experiencing pain and swelling in his left arm, we requested medical attention- maybe an X-ray???? The nurse who does nothing promised to ask the doctor- oh yeah that was yesterday and weve heard nothing. After only 7 days there, the wait time for the assistance button totals several hours. They dont get him out of bed for meals unless we are there and complaining, even though we have been clear that our goal is for him to progress and come home! They leave him laying in bed all morning- today no one came in until 11AM to get him up! We will be calling to make a complaint regarding this neglect but hope to save others from dealing with it!

The place looks great and the people from physical therapy are exellent. Unfortunate you have to be worry about the night shift, not everybody is willing to take care of your family member. Maybe because they know that nobody is watching at night. Note: it took 21 minutes from the time my mom used the call bottom the 1st time until somebody came to help her. Second day my mom wanted to go to the restroom and it took 37 minutes before somebody came to check on her. I was there.. so make sure you have plenty clothes and pampers if you are going to use them.
