My family and I came in on a Sunday afternoon after the majority of the lunch crowd had left and I have to admit; Bella Sera was an excellent choice. While the decor was a little sparse (we were told that decorating was still ongoing), the food was fantastic and the service. We all chose one of their spaghetti dishes and alongside the bread service, we were very pleased with our food. The portions were extremely generous and the food tasted very fresh; the cost was also quite low, with two of our plates costing $12.99 and the third (the Italian Trip) costing $17.99. We will definitely be coming here again!

This is not great. I expected better. We both got Lasagna. The pasta sauce is very sweet, cheese is tasteless, salad is boring, rolls are hard. At least it is not as loud as Nolis. Olive Garden is actually better.

We had an important family celebration that needed to happen with little time for planning. We reserved Bella Sera s party room with only one day s notice. The manager and waiters are just so very gracious and kind and accommodating. Our friends and family loved the food. For the reviews that leave negative comments, those are things that happen when a restaurant is new and getting started with training new staff. Bella Sera does get a lot of things right. I think they take these reviews seriously and keep trying to improve. We really hope this restaurant has many years of success here in New Braunfels.

My partner and I had heard bad reviews of this place, but we always try things ourselves before deciding. The reviews are right and this place is not great. It is overpriced for what you get. We stopped in on a random Saturday afternoon after running errands. We were seated and served quickly, but the place was nearly empty so it was not surprising. Despite being newly opened and renovated, the decor consists of kitschy rustic and Tuscan items. The rolls didn t taste fresh, and the house salad was extremely plain. It consisted of lettuce, a single wedge of a tomato, and croutons from the bag. I ordered the carbonara, and it tasted okay but was very oily. My partner got the spaghetti and meatballs and the meatballs were obviously of the frozen bagged variety. I m not sure what this restaurant s strategy is. The food is Fazoli s quality, but the prices say mid tier sit down restaurant. You do not get the same quality you pay for, which is a shame when Noli s is right up the road and offers great quality for similar prices.

We went to this restaurant on a Saturday around 2:45. They have lunch specials every day from 11 to 3. We ordered lasagne with meat and baked ziti. We did not get the lunch special menu so we didnt know these were on the special menu. After the young man took our order he came back and apologized for not giving us the special menu. He told us he was switching our orders to the specials. We received a salad and a few dollars off. Plus, to apologize, he gave us dessert! The food was great! Hot and delicious. Our server was very nice and professional. And it didnt take long. It wasnt very busy for a Saturday. We will definitely be going back!

My boyfriend and I ate here for our anniversary, we have tried the location in kerrville and loved it so we wanted to see if their new location was just as good. We were extremely impressed. It was beautiful inside, our server was very friendly she was very attentive we got our bread and drinks right away, regardless of how busy it was. She apologized in advanced that the kitchen has a lot of orders up already and it might take a little bit longer than expected. We said it s okay we understand. The bread knots were delicious there was a lot of garlic oil on top already and we got a side of alfredo sauce to dip it in. The alfredo sauce paired perfectly with it our server recommended it. Their sweet tea was perfectly sweet, we are huge sweet tea fans. Since she warned us it might take a little bit for our food to come out we got the fried calamari as an appetizer. It was one of the best fried calamari s I ve had they gave us a side of marinara sauce with it. We got the pasta trio and a medium meat lovers pizza. Both were delicious. It was clear the pizza is freshly made all with top notch ingredients. They put so much freshly grated mozzarella cheese it melted perfectly and the crust was cripst to perfection. If you ever want a pizza I highly recommend going to Bella Sera. The pasta trio consisted of three of their best dishes, lasagna, alfredo, and chicken parm. My boyfriend loved the alfredo so much I didn t get a bite lol. To finish it all off my boyfriend told our server it was our anniversary when I went to the restroom and she brought out a slice of chocolate cheesecake with two candles lit on top to represent our two year anniversary drizzled in chocolate sauce. It was delicious. He paid for the cheesecake but she didn t have to do the extra stuff. It was a really nice experience for our anniversary. 10/10 recommend.

Note that they had a lunch menu that appears to be available every day where other restaurants seem to only have a lunch menu Monday thru Friday.

As we walked in, we were immediately seated. The server comes over and takes our drink order and brings up some garlic knots. The garlic knots are dry and hard. I expected them to be a bit more soft and chewy. We opted for fried ravioli in a vodka source, which was fantastic. The entrees either came with a salad or soup. If you want soup it was only chicken soup. Why? You have multiple options on the menu. Why not offer something else. Our server kept disappearing. She did come back and tell us the kitchen was backed up. Backed up? If your pasta is homemade, it takes less than 90 seconds to make the pasta and then, plate it. The Chicken Arrabiata was ok. The pasta was a tad bin thin for my tastes. The chicken was juicy. My son ordered the chicken parm with fettuccine. I was very disappointed at the portion size. You would think at the price they are charging, you would get a little more as you do with other Italian joints. The young woman who was seating people had to bring us our check. I never saw our original server again. The food was just ok. The appetizer was fantastic. The garlic knots could have been better. I expected a little more flavor with the Chicken Arrabiata. Service is lackluster. For the price of the plates, you are almost better off going to a different Italian place. I understand this place just opened. If the kitchen was backed up, they might try to figure out how to get food out to people faster, not to mention we waited an awfully long time just to get our check. I will try this place again in a few months to see if anything has changed or not.

I went in a few weeks ago having a late lunch so nothing too busy was going on... the decor was very basic but maybe its because theyre still fairly new... my server Sergio was very attentive to me and didnt disappoint... he recommended the Chicken Parm when I was just thinking a regular pizza- soooo glad he did; it was AMAZING!!! He had another table but never seemed to skip a beat not even when he was having what looked like a very heated discussion with another server... he had a great attitude, even after Im sure what was probably the end of a shift or his midday of a double... Overall, Thanks Bella Sera, Ill be back especially once Im able to enjoy a glass of wine with the food... maybe there will be more pictures for a nicer atmosphere but I wont leave if its not present.. if Im lucky maybe Sergio will be there working again too and he can recommend something else!! Went today for the first time. Decor was simple, but nice. Since it was mid afternoon, there was hardly any patrons, which was nice. The server was very attentive & a delight. We ordered the pasta Bolognese & chicken parmesan as those are our go-to dishes at any new Italian place we go to. The portions were large, enough for take aways on both meals. The bread was soft & piping hot. It was disappointing that the dipping oil was not brought out with the bread, but is something you have to pay extra for. Not sure if we will come back, but it is nice to have something other than BBQ or Mexican in this town.

Never in my life have I been to an Italian restaurant that I had to pay for olive oil, including a few other Bella Sera locations (Bulverde, Boerne, Comfort and Fredericksburg). New in New Braunfels. They cleaned up the place considerably from previous tenant. Their idea of atmosphere is playing Italian music so excessively high you cant hear yourself think much less hear your eating partner. Nothing Italian about the decor. Speghetti and meatballs were uninspired and bland. Much like a food distributor canned products. Chicken soup was lumps of boiled chicken over 2 tablespoons of vegatable broth with carrots and celery. They need to step up their game. Too many good Italian places here that are excellent. We visited this restaurant today, 6/21, at approximately 5:45pm. We were seated quickly. We did not know they do not have their liquor license and did not see any signage that it was BYOB. Not a deal breaker. The bread knots were very bland, not nearly enough garlic (if any) and next to no butter, and were doughy...meaning you could pinch them and they would not come back up. There was a $2 charge for the dipping sauce to go with the bread which, we think, should have been included. We ordered the senior size manicotti and cannelloni, next time I might order a small salad just to have a little extra. The price was great at $9.99/each and they were piping hot. However, there was next to no seasoning in them at all!! The atmosphere was meh....nothing to buffer the sounds so it was very loud. Also the lights were on full blast! Not what we considered the ambiance for an Italian restaurant. The busser was busy but did take our plates without asking, even before we got the check. We may try again next year, if we see better reviews.

I was very disappointed in everything except for the service, I ordered ice tea that tasted like it was made from a Jar of instant tea. The tea was so bad, I substituted the tea for Diet Coke. I ordered the meat lovers pizza, the pizza was lacking meat, and was not fresh. The party said the marinara sauce was good. I am hoping that the restaurant had a bad night, and I would return to try another dish

My wife and I ordered a kids plate lasagna, Sm Pep and Mush Pizza, and Veal Saltimboca. The bring out Garlic knots and they were delicious. My wifes lasagna had a very sweet taste to it. That was all you could taste of it... The pizza and Saltimboca was really good and the pizza reheated well and was good as leftovers. The Atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. The seating is in a big open room... lots of noise.. even when its not crowded. They need to break up the room with maybe some room dividers/partitions and give it a more Italian flare

Pizza was very good. Tortellini was not good, tasted like evapmilk with torellini. Chicken parm was decent. I know they are new but the service was not good. They need more staff to keep up with the demands. They were very slow to get our order and then they brought out food later 3 times to our table that was for another table. They eventually gave one of our meal s to another table so one of our peeps had to wait longer for their food.

Went for dinner on Sunday afternoon about 4:30pm. The atmosphere is clean, but open and loud even with it 25% occupied. Waited 20 minutes to order, however had water and 3 pieces of bread with no sauces. Other tables arriving after us ordered before we did. Flagged down our waitress to order and received our food in about 15 min. Chicken Alfredo was not generous, and did not have any taste. Bland! Lasagna was just ok. The tossed salad was very small. They offered a replacement Alfredo dish on our next visit. Too late. Not going back.

Second time going today. Not too busy around lunch time to have so man problems. People were getting their food before ours and we got there way before them. I waited 30 minutes for my salad before having to ask for it. My husbands pizza came out way before my simple spaghetti. My husband never got a drink refill so we shared mine. The waitress and the manager or owner just kept saying it s because they were busy . Which they weren t. Got tired of waiting for our ticket to go pay so went to pay without it, got handed a food order for $72 ours should ve been around $35 my husband goes I m not paying that manager looked at him crazy. He kept trying to get us to pay for a table of 4 s meals instead of my spaghetti and my husbands pizza. We explained to him numerous times that that wasn t our ticket. It went so far that I literally opened up my to go box and showed him my leftover spaghetti. He STILL kept trying to ring us up for the wrong food. Why would a table of 2 people order 4 meals!? Took a good 5 minutes before he rang us up correctly. No apology, nothing. I used to eat at the Bella Sera in Fredericksburg frequently when I lived there, they never had so many issues.

Good food, highly recommended the eggplant parmigiana with the alla vodka sauce. FYI the alla vodka sauce is extra. The cheese sticks are nice however, you only get 6. The bread was slightly extra brown on the top, slightly over cooked. Also tried the pizza, pretty good. Way better than Nole Vite. Otherwise really nice food. The food was some of the worst Italian food Ive ever had. the mozzarella cheese sticks were premade frozen kind that you can just buy at HEB and they airfry them not an actual fryer it came out cold because they didnt leave it in long enough. Mind you we complained and confirmed with the server who also said yea sorry they are premade frozen kind. The chicken Alfredo sauce was made from scratch because whatever recipe they use is some of the worst Alfredo Ive ever had. Go to Nolis or even olive garden anything is better than this place

Today is June 3, 2024. My wife and I went to Bella Sera in New Braunfels for an early dinner around 5:00 pm. We decided to order a Large pizza and two side salads. The salads did not have croutons as listed on the menu and the pizza crust was so tough that I could not cut it with a knife. After we paid our bill and started to walk out , the manager approached me in front of the exit door. He stood in my personal space and ask me if I had paid, He appeared to trying to block me from leaving. Then he said that she did not have the code. I told him that we had paid and that he was being rude. On the way out the door I informed him that we would not be returning to this restaurant. I would appreciate some follow-up on this experience.

I understand that separate checks are a pain, but to not give out a receipt until everyone has paid....then, two registers, one for cash and one for crexit card sounds great UNTIL you have separate checks. I would love the server to pick up our check and payments vs us having to stand in line!

Went during first week it was open. We waited a little for food but it was worth it. As it is new we figured there would be longer wait times as they got the staff up to speed and acclimated to the business levels. Food was amazing, my parents said it reminded them of the little Italian place my mom worked at when they were stationed in Germany. We asked the waiter what he would recommend to dip bread in, he brought us some marinara and oil - both were delicious. Staff was friendly and attentive, even with being newly opened and busy. We cant wait to come back.

We arrived on a Wednesday at about 4:45 for an early dinner. There were 3 of us. We were ignored by the man at the host stand and also the man at the to go window. We were greeted by a girl who just said, 3? We were then seated at a table with 3 greasy menus that had not been cleaned. We sat there for 10 minutes with no drinks, plates or silverware. The same girl that seated us dropped a basket of bread off. Meanwhile, one of the 2 waitstaff spent the entire 10 minutes telling the host that she did not want another table. We left. Went to Nolis where we were greeted with, Hi, how are yall doing this evening? How many for dinner? We had a great dinner with a waiter that wanted to be there and enjoys his job. We will not be returning to Bella Sera. There is no atmosphere or vibe here. Very stark, not welcoming at all

Im giving a 2 star because the manager was extremely accommodating and made things right. We arrived and were seated. The atmosphere was a really bad disappointment. It was super bright. We were seated by the windows so every car that pulled in, we got blinded by headlights. When I think of an authentic Italian food restraunt, I envision a dimmed light atmosphere with candles on the table and nice table cloths. So right from the start it was disappointing. The waitress was no where to be found. We sat for atleast 15 min until a manager walked over and had to retrieve the waitress. We finally got our drinks. The garlic knots tasted like over cooked frozen bread. The salad came out and she left the croutons off, and when I mentioned she left the off, she argued that they came with it at all until I asked her to get the menu. The cheese sticks looked and tasted like frozen food. When our food finally decided to come out the back staff brought it out, slid it on the table and walked off without a word. My child burned himself on the scalding hot plate before I could even say be careful. Thats the 1st thing they should of said before dropping the plate and running off. The spaghetti was a 2/10. I could of made it better at home. I understand this is a new restraunt and kinks need to be worked out. But was the staff even trained at all? This restraunt was not ready to open. There is no vibe. There is no decoration anywhere, especially the walls. The staff obviously isnt trained properly, and the most important issue is saftey. You just simply cant let staff bring out scalding hot plates and sit them in front of a child without saying. Please dont touch the plate, it extremely hot. Childrens dishes should be transferred to a child safe plate before its brought out. Yall should of waited for your liquor license to come in and took that time to spruce the place up and train yoir staff correctly. Managers running around stressed out and having to fix everyones mistakes is not a good way to start a business. I do hope that it works out for you all. And thank you to the manager for stepping in and taking care of our bill. I would of walked out completely. But i also had my child with me and didnt want to upset him by leaving. He did say the Raviolis were okay. 5/5 and hes super picky, so thats a 10 for him lol. If your untrained staff doesnt run off all the business, we would consider coming back next year to try again. Not sure if cooks from your other restaurant have come in to train but they need to do that. A trained wait staff needs to train the staff. Good luck to you all! Yall jumped the gun opening when you werent ready, thats all

First let me say that I love Italian food. I worked as a cook and delivery driver for a family owned Italian restaurant from age 17 to age 19. My friends would say, You must be sick of Italian food. But not me...I love it! Three years ago, I moved here to New Braunfels when I retired and I cant believe how good the BBQ is. Its like nothing Ive ever had before. And the Mexican food is good, though not as good as the Tijuana influenced food that Im used to. But the biggest thing I have missed since moving here, is the excellent SoCal Italian food. Dont get me wrong. I am not a snob who is too proud to scarf down a Tour of Italy at Olive Garden. Far from it! But the only really good Mom & Pop Italian Ive found out here is the fantastic Italian Garden out in Canyon Lake. Closer to home, Im super fond of the spaghetti and meatballs at Infernos in Gruene. And the pizza at Bootleggers downtown is outstanding. I even stop at Giuseppes whenever Im in Seguin. But not one of these places, even the otherwise excellent Italian Garden, has a decent antipasto salad. Yes, Bootleggers has an antipasto salad on the menu, but its not like any antipasto Ive ever had before. I mean...its a freakin pasta salad. What part of ANTI-pasto do they not understand? So when I saw that Bella Sera was opening on the 337 loop, I got my hopes up for something special. Today for lunch, I met my sister and her husband there to try it out. First the good...the meatballs were very tasty, but very tiny. The senior lasagna was very tasty, but very tiny (notice the trend). The alfredo was just average, but at least it was a good portion. Before leaving, I ordered an antipasto salad with their house dressing and an order of meatballs to take home. I went home and fed my two Labradors the meatballs. They agreed that they were very tasty. They didnt say anything, but I think secretly they felt they were tiny too. Then I took a nap to work up an appetite for the antipasto. About 7:00pm, I was ready and pulled the container out of the bag. My initial impression was that the salad looked pretty good, but I could easily see that the container was less than half full. And Im thinking, Whats up with this? I mean, lettuce is cheap and this salad cost me $13. The salad seemed even skimpier after flipping it onto a plate. There was a good amount of salami and provolone, so I was hopeful, but not much else. And aside from the lack of lettuce, the house dressing I was wishing for - was still a wish. No dressing of any kind was on the salad. I even fished the take home bag out of the trash to double check that I hadnt missed it. But no, there was no dressing on the salad or on the side. I spent $13 for a dry salad with a small handful of lettuce. I guess I should be happy that the salami and provolone were good, but there was nothing else to recommend it. So I guess Im still searching for a decent antipasto in New Braunfels. Frankly, Im bummed. And Im hoping this was just a new restaurant teething problem that will be fixed by training and experience. But the prices I paid were not training prices. I mean, I get my haircut at Seguin Beauty School and I dont expect perfection for $8. But if I was paying $25 or $30, Id expect better. So honestly, I want a good Italian restaurant in my new home town. I hope Bella Sera will develop into one.

The food is great, 8.5/10, service absolutely sucked which was a bummer and a half. Had to stand and wait in a 20 minute line to get seated. Waiter came by, got drinks, returned drinks, put in appetizers and oil for the bread. My appetizer came first, my girlfriends didnt come until entrees arrived and we reminded that we were missing her appetizer. The oil never came despite 3 reminders. We were never checked in on the entire time except to put in our original orders. Drinks were empty, never came back to ask about refills. Asked for a box, 10 minutes went by. It took me walking over to the kitchen to get our waiters attention to remind about the box. STILL didnt come back and asked the host to bring the box after 5 more minutes. The main issue here and constructive criticism is to check on the tables. I stared at the waiter when he was getting an order in from the table next to us, waiting to get his attention when he would check the room, never did. This occurred 4 times throughout the night as we were never checked on. I shouldnt have to get my waiters attention as they should be checking on the table. Then go up to pay and they ask which table we were at, not sure why as I would have assumed that some indicator would have been on the receipt. Just another service issue. Food was great, I am happy that there is finally a good solid Italian place in New Braunfels. Kitchen outputs food at a solid pace, and tastes great. Change or train the front of house.

I am going to preface this with the fact that we were here on one of the first days the restaurant was opened and they are dealing with opening issues, new staff, as any restaurant with a brand new opening would. With that said, it was the server s first day, he had to ask about questions we had on the menu, but he came back right away with answers, and was dutiful in filling our drinks, and efficiently meeting all of the needs that we had during our meal. We first had bread with garlic/oil. This was to DIE for! The bread came out hot and perfectly cooked and there was a ton of fresh garlic in the oil I ve never tasted better. We had house salad, soup and a Caesar salad. The house salad is very simple, lettuce/tomato and a relatively small portion. The soup is a clear vegetable chicken soup and was probably the most bland of any dishes we had. It wasn t bad, but could use more seasoning for our taste. The Caesar salad was an Up charge , but it was more than plentiful and absolutely delicious. The dressing was light and tasty and not too much or too little- I would order the Caesar and share. We selected the cheese ravioli, chicken piccata, and Chicken Sicilian. Ravioli was good, piccata was better, and my dish, the Sicilian was the best of what we ordered. It had chicken, mushrooms, artichokes with a light lemony sauce over capellini. At first, it felt a little light, tasty, but not quite there. I added the FRESH cheese they have on the tables and it flattered the dish immensely. We had chocolate and Black Forest cheesecakes. They were both very good. While Bella Sera still has some things to work thru, I look forward to trying new and different things there. Some of their things were already exceptional and I think over time, the rest will get better. We went at lunch and were able to eat during our lunch hour so there was not too much of a wait either which worked out well for us. If you can go with an open mind and give them a little patience while they iron things out, I think it s more than worth a visit.
