Think Gilmore Girl s Sookie. If she opened a restaurant, I would imagine it be just like this. The restaurant is so cool and cozy. The food is amazing and very reasonably priced. You get great portions too. And across the parking lot is the most magical little green spot. It s like a garden out of a Children s book. It has a fence all around it, picnic tables, and fun for children. We will go there again! 100% recommended!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Root Cellar in New Braunfels, Texas, and it was a delightful experience. Our waitress, Kensley, was incredibly nice and attentive, which made our visit even more enjoyable. The ambience and atmosphere of the place were amazingly cozy and inviting. Despite a slight delay with our food due to an issue with the oil, the staff was transparent and explained the situation. Although the chicken thighs ended up a bit burnt, the food was still amazing. I had the Rae sandwich, which was delicious. The highlight for me was their homemade blueberry and strawberry jam preserve spread, with a hint of cinnamon. It was absolutely incredible and added a unique touch to the meal. Overall, it was a great experience, and I highly recommend The Root Celler. Thank you to the wonderful staff for making our visit memorable!

The food didnt live up to the descriptions on the menu. Meatloaf to loose. Salmon pesto pasta was too soupy. The pecan crusted chicken breast looked like it came out of the freezer, not made from scratch. The Caribbean pork sandwich lacked spice.

This is my new favorite restaurant in New Braunfels. Everything weve tried has been wonderful but you have to try the Shoe String Chicken! The roasted Brussel sprouts were killer too. Its also not in Gruene or downtown so we were able to get a table right away even on a Saturday night in the summer. They also have a beautiful wooded area outside with a playground children can play on. They said one of the Oak trees is 250+ years old and I believe it. It was enormous - worth seeing itself. Clay was our server tonight and he was awesome. As soon as we sat down he offered my son some fruit to snack on which I thought was a nice touch. He was very friendly and just did a great job.

Excellent service. Beet and Goat Cheese salad was delicious. The batter on the Chicken Fried Ribeye was soft and mushy, but the gravy was good. The accompanied fried potatoes werent crispy and tasted like they had been re-heated. The Caribbean Stacker sandwich was very dry and unappealing. The Beet and Goat Cheese salad is the only reason the food received 3 stars. Overall, disappointing.

The bacon jam is amazing we got it on the side along with the Sriracha dip 10/10. I got the BLTA with no tomatoes! Best BTL ever! 10/10! My boyfriend got the meatloaf this was the star the meatloaf was seasoned to perfection and had a crunch to the bottom the sauce on it was the perfect amount the mashed potatoes are by far my favorite and the green beans were cool perfect and fresh! We got a penicillin drink you have to try it so light and fresh. The sweet tea was good too not too much sugar. This is our new favorite spot. Being severely disappointed in a number of other breakfast offerings in the area, I had been mulling over whether it would be worth giving this place a try for sometime. My partner and I finally decided to give this place a chance today, and I am happy to say that I have finally found my go to breakfast spot. Reasonable prices, friendly staff, and a wide array of offerings with a creative and tasty take on a number of traditional southern foods and drinks. I could honestly write a novel on how wonderful the food was. Its hard to find a place that my partner thinks can compete with my homemade biscuits and gravy (that roasted jalepeno cream gravy is out of this world!) or chicken and waffles, but we definitely found a winner in the Root Cellar!

We liked dinner so much that we came back for breakfast! The food is phenomenal! No wait for a table, but it takes about 30 minutes from sitting down to getting your food, so its about the same as a place with a 15min wait the difference is you get to wait at your table. The ambience (decor, music, friendly staff) made it an enjoyable place to just sit at the table, sip our drinks and chill until the food came. Vegetarian options: I wasnt intentionally eating vegetarian, but I loved the beet and goat cheese pesto burger, and most salads and pastas are vegetarian by default (you pay an extra couple bucks to add meat) Parking: Probably 30 spots?

We loved dinner last night here so much that we came back for breakfast! The perfect amount of tomato bacon jam was such a tasty addition to the inch-thick perfect beef burger! And the beet burger, as in maroon vegetable with micro greens and goat cheese, was amazingly tasty! Husband and I took a bite of our daughters beet burger and we were shocked how delicious it was. On the breakfast menu, the hash with New Braunfels Smokehouse sausage, red and sweet potatoes, kale, onions and red peppers plus an egg on top was EXCELLENT! Fried egg sandwich, homemade biscuits, homemade jalapeño gravy, homemade jam and bacon were also OUTSTANDING. Coffee is also great. Service is good. The landscaping here is also beautiful and native Texan.

Service can make or break a dining experience. We ate here for the second time yesterday. The food was good, but doesnt make up for the poor service. We were the first for dinner service, so busy was not the issue. I asked if it would be possible to substitute mixed veggies for green beans, but not a big deal.. She said she would check and we didnt hear back, so glad I received the veggies. We didnt see her again to ask for water refills, but shouldnt have to ask. Then we waited several minutes to ask for a box. Another several minutes later she brought a box and our check. They charged us 3.25 for subbing veggies! No asking if we wanted dessert, and when I told her it would have been nice if she informed us of the upcharge because I wouldnt have subbed, She said non-chalantly Im sorry, maam. It wasnt removed from our check, no surprise. By the time we left there were two other tables. I dont usually write reviews, but when the service is this poor without a good reason, I make an exception.

First time there tonight and dad and I were not disappointed. The waitor, whose name I faild to catch and the chef whose name I also failed to catch both handled dad and his dad jokes well, both were fantastic . Dad had the Seafood Scampi: Seared bay scallops, shrimp, and steamed mussels tossed with linguine, arugula, tomato, and a white wine sauce. He wanted more shrimp (wasnt complaining dad just really likes his shrimp) and the chef themself brought it to the table and made dads night. I had the Shrimp N Grits: Creamy cheddar grits topped with sautéed shrimp with chorizo. Best shrimp and grits Ive ever had, and a couple of La Sarinas: Epsolon blanco, fresh squeezed lime, grape fruit soda, and homemade pear simple syrup... I need this drink in gallon size to take home. 10/10 recommend it here. Will definitely go back.

The location is great, along with adequate parking offered. It offers a quaint atmosphere, indoor booth and open space table seating along with an outdoor porch table offered. We really enjoyed the spinach and artichoke dip, the chorizo grits with shrimp were okay - rather greasy but I suppose that s typical with chorizo. A lot of the grease was puddled on the top of the dish. The eggs over medium were extremely over cooked and chewy so I would recommend adjusting heat temp to avoid this in the future. The gluten free French toast was pretty good I was extremely happy that they offered gluten free options and several different types of menu items to accommodate various allergies. There weren t a ton of vegetable or fruit options however. I wouldn t consider the food something to call home about, but it s a gluten free quaint little spot with a good location so, I would say it s convenient and can accommodate various preferences. The coffee was not organic, it was mediocre as far as flavor profile goes, although they did offer Oat Milk for the coffee and organic raw sugars which not all places offer. Dietary restrictions: They do have gluten free bread which is awesome!! There are a few veggie and fruit options available for other dietary restrictions as well. Fruit is limited to berries. The orange juice is not fresh squeezed. They do offer oat milk! Parking: Parking is accessible and spread out near the rear left side of the building. It s located right off the highway and there are various shops within walking distance along with overflow parking to accommodate.

Got take out from here the other night - we were looking for a healthy-ish option and unfortunately the entire meal was pretty abysmal. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, which were so incredibly salty that they were inedible. Like, hurt your tongue inedible. The beet & goat cheese salad was extremely reminiscent of a bagged grocery store salad but was somehow the least offensive item. The chicken and waffles was completely flavorless. I know neither of those things travel particularly well so I can t comment much on texture, but the waffle tasted like one you d get at a hotel continental breakfast. The syrup also nearly had the consistency of water, which was very odd. Overall, very disappointed that I spent money here and would not recommend it.

If i could leave a negative star review i would, the easter brunch buffet was one of the worst ive ever seen. Ive had better breakfast buffets at a motel 6. 4 options, bacon sausage, french toast and biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were hard and cold, gravy plain and cold, bacon cold, sausage cold and weird, french toast was okay but COLD. This was a $25 buffet. Huge waste of money. Ate half of my frozen meal and left. If the buffet was $5 i wouldnt be complaining. Because that was a .99 cent buffet for sure. Not only that $7 mimosas in a dixie cup . Not even worth a try.

Was out in new Braunfels for an event and was looking for a breakfast spot. We had to order take out because we were short on time. This place popped up in my search and had decent reviews so we gave it a try. The chicken and waffle was good and I was kinda skeptical on eggs but they tasted good. The potatoes were good as well. We got there before there was a crowd so it took about 15-20 mins to get food. Crowd started to show up as we were leaving. Everyone was friendly that worked here.

We actually came here twice, for breakfast and for lunch. The chips and salsa were okay. But the chicken sandwich and shrimp pesto parmesan dish were very good and we definitely recommend them. Breakfast was very good, as well. The chicken and waffles and chicken biscuit sandwich were on point. It is worth trying out.

So, I am not a review person, but this place was so good. My husband had the pecan bourbon chicken, and I had the potroast. Texture taste and temperature was perfect Madison was our server, she was so attentive, she had her timing down perfect when to come to our table. We had snickerdoodle bread pudding and whipped topping. Whipped topping looked like ice cream. Homemade Italian sodas You wont be disappointed.

Came in for date night with high expectations. Staff was very friendly. Fizy peach was very sweet and tasted like artifical peach juice. The huckleberry was OK at best. The brussel sprout app was very good with the tomato bacon jam. Definitely sharable with more then 2 people. The brased short rib had good flavor. The portion of short rib was incredibly small (about 4oz). The grits had no flavor and were slightly soupy. The shrimp and grits were terrible. The shrimp was over cooked and lacked any flavor. The crispy chorizo was non existant. What was there for chorizo was the oilslick in the grits. The grits were inedible. We ended up paying the bill and leaving the food on the table. Definitely a one and done.

This restaurant is awesome. We typically eat breakfast here more often than lunch. My daughter has been here for the Sunday Brunch and says great things about it. For breakfast you can t go wrong with the French Toast. It s not too much bread and the syrup is heated.

It looks like The Root Cellar has replaced the authentic German sausage spot that once filled this quaint, historic building. New Braunfels has more than its fair share of authentic mom and pop shops with great customer service and tasty eats. Im not sure how this restaurant is going to hold up against the neighboring Einstein Bagel Bros, much less the more than a dozen fantastic restaurants nearby. But maybe they just swapped the Caribbean sauce on my sandwich with something like butter. Furthermore, they didnt seat at capacity on a Sunday afternoon, so I missed out on the fullness of a quaint ambiance.

I dont know if we ordered the wrong items or what, but both my wife and I may have had bad luck. I had the pesto pasta and added chicken. The pasta was great, but the chicken was literally the rubberiest chicken I have ever had. I ended up not being able to finish it, pushing it to the side. My wife got the port chicken biscuit sandwich which was extremely dry and she couldnt finish it. She said the chicken in it was good, and out of curiosity I tried it and it was! I dont know how the chicken in my pasta was messed up so bad. The total for two was over $40.

Sodas and Tea (1): Very poor tasting. Salmon (1) overcooked... Was dry and firm. Chips (4): Were not of great taste or texture. Cheese (5): was thick and not very tasty. Service (9): She was sweet and very attentive. Atmosphere (9): very warm and inviting. Disappointed, Big Henry

I would love to give this restaurant a higher rating but it just wasnt great. The food is meh and its pretty expensive. They dont offer any hot specialty coffees. I ordered decaf and it came out a little warmer than room temperature. My husband ordered the fritatta and the serving was tiny. I had the French toast. The serving was good sized but its just bread so it should be big. The best part of the visit was the waitress. She was really good.

I was really hoping this location would exceed my expectations like the location in San Marcos. It was sub par. Employees were dressed inappropriately, blue hair, bull nose rings, and one had a skirt that was right under her rear end. The blonde (which had the black plaid mini skirt on) was on her phone most of the time. Our water wasn t filled until we asked for it. It will be hard to compete with the other breakfast places here in town.

Everything there was pretty good. The server Sierra was a real sweetheart and everyone left satisfied. I must say that the biscuits for the biscuits and gravy were a little stiff and dry but the gravy helped and the oatmeal was a bit thick and flavorless, also the avocado on the toast was a pretty thin layer. I hate writing bad stuff but those were the reasons for the 3 star food rating. Everything else was fine and again Sierra was wonderful. Take Care and Happy Eating, Rick W

If youre looking for an open and honest review from someone who is a foodie, eats at every restaurant he can, and is as blunt and honest as they come. Then read on. I am from Texas, born an raised. I was raised with manners and southern hospitality. 1st and foremost, the staff was amazing, polite and super attentive. The atmosphere was fantastic. I opted to eat at the bar with and spoke with the bartender whom was also my server. Chicken and Waffles, Meatloaf, breakfast burrito, chiliquiles, and even the mixed drinks at the bar were 10 out of 10. Hands down. They have local Central Texas beers on tap as well! Please do not read or pay any attention to any of the negative comments from others. They are all quick to add negative remarks to places whom do not serve them to their nose in the air expectations and are the ones that think and feel they should be the center of attention. The laid back, fun, caring, and loving atmosphere with fantastic food is what this place offers. I definitely will be back not just for the food, but the conversations with the staff as well. Keep it up! 11.21.23

This place is amazing, the food is delicious and the customer service is always exceptional. Only complaint I have is that the last three times Ive visited they have either been out of their seasonal brunch item (pumpkin waffle) or the chef that was working didnt know how to make the burrito that was advertised. However these things are not reason enough to keep me away. Like I said everything the serve is delicious. This is a must try restaurant!

We really loved the San Marcos location so we decided to try out the new braunfels location. We were so sad that our food came out 40 mins after we ordered . The food was cold . We believe they forgot to put it in or they just forgot it over all. The person serving us didn t write our order down that s why we believe they forgot it. When the food came out they gave us the wrong order and had to wait a bit longer to get the right food. Sadly we didn t love our experience but I would try it again maybe they will improve.
