You are open only three days a week and cant have the kitchen open during those hours? I was really looking forward to trying their food but not sure Ill bother going back.

Really disappointed that this place is always closed. Ive been once and cant seem to catch it when its open. This place was featured on a TV show and I can only imagine the disappointment to anyone that shows up to closed doors. There was a major renovation in the last couple of years and I cant imagine it being closed all the time after that kind of investment. Serious question, what is it going to take to open? Can we the community help?

Owner very friendly, hospitable and welcoming. Seemed quite the community family man type. I had the horchatta latte and barbacoa tacos. Delicious food, though I asked for less-sweet drink and ended up getting something that tasted super watered down. The environment is nice to look at, local art is displayed and on sale. A bit noisy for my preferences, but I was going in to do some work. Otherwise perhaps the music would have been fine.

Best coffee shop on the west side. The lamp lighting, soft jazz, and rustic-retro aesthetic make for a cozy spot. Their house brew and americano are full of flavor, and their tacos are terrific. How often does one find a local mom n pop joint that has been operating using local flavors and provide personal culture to their menus? Barrio Barista certainly did that for many years and hope they continue doing so. The Horchata latte was flavorful served cold with almond milk just the way the owner, Gilbert, recommended. Gilbert is detail oriented, yet, personable. The barista is full of paintings done by local artists. Unfortunately, it was late for me to try their food menu as they were closing soon shortly after I arrived. Gilbert expressed his knowledge using local freshest ingredients on his food menu items. A definite must try if youre in San Antonio and do try to join them for breakfast or early lunch. Local flavors served by local friendly owner and staff.

First time today. Went for a quick bite and caffeine. The barbacoa and brisket melts were the right balance of melty and meaty goodness while not being too heavy. We also got a couple chai lattes that were top 10%. This place has comfortable lighting, not too bright. While there are some aesthetics that seem slightly haphazard, everything I saw from food prep and coffee handling was detail oriented and presented well. Overall, wonderful place. Seems like careful service meets laid-back atmosphere. Ill get making this a regular spot.

Finally got around to trying this place, and unfortunately, dont recommend. The coffee was not good. I ordered two lattes and neither good. I informed the batista and she even tasted it and she agreed it was pungent. She informed the owner and the owner told me it was my taste buds because everything was fine. He refunded my money (although I never asked) but eas rude about it all. I also ordered the breakfast croissant, and unless you want a really bland, almost school cafeteria style sandwich, I dont recommend this either. ----- Super disappointed so we didnt get to try this place! Although the hours say they serve until 3PM, its actually 2PM. Thats pretty much the reason for the 3 stars. Hopefully we can come back to San Antonio soon to try it and update our review.

Returning to my roots was a theme today. What better way than to pay tribute to a neighborhood favorite, Barrio Barrista. The place is looking fabulous. The owner and staff are so welcoming. The coffee and the food are excellent. In fact we search for the feeling of coffee in the morning. Well when you come here if you want a double dose of morning delight, then order your favorite coffee or latte AND THE BARBACOA GRILLED CHEESE!! OH MAN OH MAN!! That combo is one of THE BEST in the central Texas region. Not to forget the great vibes at Barrio Barrista. There is no better experience than to actually see the passion for what they do in action. You can feel the love while enjoying the jazzy ambiance. Dont be afraid to go to the hood when you are headed to Barrio Barrista. This place should be on your to do this week list!

Slow service, the worst I have been to in quite some time, and the owner or manager doesnt seem to care about other peoples time, this guy lives in his own world. Staff includes himself, two front counter girls, an a couple cooks in the back, yet blames being understaffed for being slow and not answering the phone for orders. Said that if you cannot except the slow service dont show up, well its not only the slow service but lack of verquenza in this place that puts it at the colmpete bottom of my list. 0 STARS if possible. Unbeleivable, this place can not even make a simlpe cup of earl gray tea right.

Nice, unique coffee shop on the west side. It s a combination of small restaurant and coffeeshop, with a great menu and drink selection. The atmosphere is certainly unique, with fun and interesting decorations. The lights are low so there s a silent, calm feel to the shop. That combined with the slow jazz, makes it great for working professionals. Overall, very nice, comfortable coffeeshop with a interesting and unique personality. Go back to this place! Theyre slowly getting rolling again after the pandemic and prolonged construction. Check out their good on their Instagram feed. Heres the thing about this place: the genuinely nice people who own and operate it. Sure, I think other places have equal or better coffee, but this place is so inviting, it doesnt even matter. Gilbert and his dad are great! The dad is the cook and when I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich, he brought it out to me. He talked to me like a friends dad would talk to me when I was growing up in my barrio, Chihuahuita. I tell everyone they should just go there! Inside there is counter seating, booths, tall tables, and shorter tables. The lighting is a little dim but not dark. I didnt recognize the music playing but I liked it. The coffee bar counter is much nicer. Generally the place feels nicer and more comfy. This would be a good spot to work on your laptop. The wait was longer than I expected, but nothing terrible, and Id rather wait here than Starbucks. The owner is funny and friendly. I got an oat milk latte, which was delicious. Wonderful coffee spot! Homely feeling, delicious coffee, and great food. The decor brings me to my childhood and makes for a nice relaxing atmosphere to drink my cup of Java. We came on a very rainy morning, but the covered outdoor seating looked very inviting for when the weather is right. Definitely a new cozy spot for when the kids are at grandmas and you just need the morning to yourself.

Was very disappointed this last time that we visited. The front person was slightly rude and We felt rushed with our order. And the young lady that gave us our order at the table didnt ask if we needed anything else, just kind of threw our stuff on the table and walked off. Had to get up and get napkins and forks. Been there a couple of times and Great experiences but this last time it was not good at all.

If youre gonna go local, you gotta go here! This place has unique hand crafted lattes that are like the nectar of the Gods. Definitely a very hip swanky style with all the mellow coffee house feels. This place is great to wake up and start the day at for sure. The service was great and Gilbert was amazing! Brought treats to the kiddo and chatted with us a bit. A really cool guy! Theres a ton of coffee joints in town but none are like this place. Its inviting, stylish and cozy. Best of all, the menu has some great options and the coffee is on point!

Second time visiting today. Last time was about 3 years ago and we thought the barbacoa grilled cheese was pretty good. Now that I am plant-based I got the sweet potato hash which was really disappointing. I thought the sweet potato was going to come out nice and crispy and spicy but it was mushy and bland. Eggs and (thin af) toast were nothing to write home about. Remoulade was the only good thing about that plate. And plastic silverware really? While we are in a plastic crisis? How irresponsible. Husband said that his barbacoa grilled cheese was not the same as last time we were here and said that the barbacoa was bland. Cafe Mocha and Mexican Mocha were good, but I dont see us coming back to this place again. Also, we got the vibe we were being rushed out of there when we were asked if we were waiting on anything else. Mediocre experience.

I absolutely love this joint!!! Like no other place here in SA. It is such a diverse place that my 11 year old son went with me this morning and also fell in love with it. Super polite staff, friendly environment, great location, and not to forget AWESOME food and non alcoholic drinks (specifically coffee)!!! The westsides best little secret hangout!!!

Visited on our way home (for that needed caffeine) and was immediately in love! The space and coffee is awesome. We also loved the guys behind the counter. They were very kind and made the best latte Ive ever tasted! We ordered a red eye and caramel latte -both iced. Very smooth -no bitterness involved. If youre visiting San Antonio, make Barrio Barista a place to stop and enjoy!
