I really wanted to like this place but ultimately I left disappointed For starters, the Karaage chicken had a soggy texture and it did not seem like it was fried very well. The chicken pieces were small and lacking in flavor, with the sauce only giving it a little bit of extra flavor. As for the ramen, while the noodles, pork chasu, naruto, and vegetables were all cooked decently, the soup broth was very bland and lacking in much flavor. When comparing to another Houston ramen shop like Tamashi ramen, the flavor of the broth just doesn t compare. Really hoping they can improve the flavor of the soup broth in the future. As for positives, the takoyaki was decent, and the server was very friendly and quick with our order as well. Hoping if I come back I can have a better experience!

4.5 stars for food. We tried different ramen dishes, which were reasonably priced and quite good. But it would be hard-pressed to rate it 5 stars as there were quite a few excellent ramen shops nearby. The broth is more on the sweet side than flavor. But it is recommended, if one happens to be in the neighborhood. I would return if happen to be nearby and in the mood for ramen.

I have mixed emotions after dining at this restaurant. When we walked in the waitress told us to sit wherever we want. It was hot outside and the restaurant was nice and cool to eat a bowl of ramen. As a party of 4 we decided to order: Appetizers: Takoyaki (octopus balls) - shaped like a ball with a gooey filling and small pieces of octopus; not very many and some were a bit chewy Gyoza - the size was pretty decent and the dish came out fresh. I dipped it in the sauce provided and took a bite. You can tell these were homemade and there was a good amount of pork filling that was seasoned and flavorful and juicy. Chashu bun - came in 2, my son and brother ate them. My son said it was ok and the pork had a smokey flavor. Main dishes: Tonkatsu ramen - my brother ordered this bowl and he requested it to spicy Spicy miso ramen - I ordered this dish and here was I got mixed feelings because I wanted to like it but I didnt like the type of spiciness as it spiced up with hot chili oil vs the red pepper paste. Maybe Im more inclined to eat traditional ramen...the chasu had a smokey flavor and the meat was tender Spicy Naka ramen - my sister ordered this ramen bowl, she compared to my ramen and the soup flavor was indeed different. She was pretty indifferent about it. Chicken Katsu Ramen - my son ordered this dish and a small piece of katsu was served on the side. He wished the katsu was larger. The half seasoned eggs which were served on all of our ramen bowl were more hard boiled rather than slightly runny yolk. Service was friendly and the restaurant was clean. I will leave at that.

My 1st impressions of this place was that it felt very much like a Japanese ramen place. There s a bar table, Japanese Obi wall hangers, Japanese decorations. Reminds me of Tokyo and Kyoto. Started with a Japan s tea that came in a see through pot with a tea basket. I appreciated this over the traditional pots which tends to leak while you pour. We then had the salt and pepper wings which was a flavor bomb on the 1st bite. Crunchy, salty moist and smoky curry flavor. Enjoyed the 1sr 2 wings but started to get salty with the 3rd wing. I would share this with a few people. My wife ordered the Tonkotsu ramen and I had the Spocy Naka Ramen. I tried both broth. The Spicy Naka is really a Tonkotsu with Chinese chili oil added in. Since the oil is actually in a jar on your table, you could just order the Tonkotsu and add chili oil to your liking. While I found the broth pleasant, I wished that it was deeper in pork flavor. The noodles were decent, egg cooked just right with a soft center. Overall not bad considering for that part of Sugar Land there aren t too many ramen options.

My dining experience at NAKA today was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were greeted by an inviting ambiance that set the stage for an unforgettable culinary journey. We kicked off our meal with an assortment of appetizers that left our taste buds dancing with joy. The Chicken Karaage was a perfect blend of crispy and tender, showcasing the chefs mastery in frying technique. The Coconut Shrimp transported us to a tropical paradise with its delicate crunch and subtle sweetness, while the Fried Chicken Wings were a savory delight that had us reaching for more. For the main course, we dove into a bowl of Spicy Miso Ramen that was a symphony of flavors. The rich and robust broth, combined with the perfect level of spice, created a bowl of comfort that warmed both our hearts and palates. The Beef Shoyu Ramen was a testament to the chefs dedication to quality ingredients, with the tender beef slices complementing the savory soy-based broth impeccably. The service at NAKA was equally impressive. Attentive and friendly staff members added to the overall positive experience, ensuring our needs were met with a smile. The restaurants environment struck a balance between chic and comfortable, making it an ideal setting for a casual lunch or a special evening out. In conclusion, NAKA has managed to seamlessly blend exquisite flavors with a welcoming atmosphere, creating a dining experience that lingers in the memory long after the last bite. If youre in search of a culinary adventure that marries traditional tastes with a modern twist, NAKA is a definite must-try. I look forward to returning to savor more of their delectable offerings in the future.

The food experience is exceptional. I got the chicken skewer and curry chicken. The skewers cooked with precision and had a clean taste. Tender with slight flavorful burn you like to see over a grill. The chicken curry was a beautiful surprise. Mild flavors and not over powering which I like: an easy dish to split if you are not overly hungry. I did not have any left over, but definitely worth sharing to get more dishes.

I wasn t sure if they were open due to it being a fairly new plaza. The hostess/waitress was really nice. Something I didn t expect, especially in ramen shops of Houston. IYKYK. I had the beef croquettes and they were seasoned/fried very nicely. It was a hefty portion I didn t expect. I had the tonkotsu ramen. It had black oil in it but they also have hot oil/red pepper flakes available at the tables for an extra kick. The ramen broth was okay, on the thin side and lacked flavor. Also the chashu was pretty thin and small. I m used to bigger chashu pieces but I was more than satisfied and not bloated after leaving. I will come back again before I move from Houston. Still horrible with chopsticks on solid food. And the waitress provided me with a fork which was nice The lord ain t done with me yet and my chopstick skills

Our order was taken quickly and served hot! I got the Tonkutsu Ramen with added fish cake and let me tell you it was so DELICIOUS! The broth was very tasty and smooth. The sliced pork belly was very tender and flavorful. Noodles were cooked just right. Very hearty meal. They do have other ramen options and different beverages to go with your meal. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Naka Ramen and I have nothing but great things to say about this fantastic restaurant! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a calm and inviting atmosphere. But lets talk about the food - the Tonkotsu ramen was absolutely divine! The broth was rich and savory, with just the right amount of creaminess. The noodles were perfectly cooked and had a nice chewy texture. And lets not forget the chashu - it was melt-in-your-mouth tender and packed with flavor. If youre a fan of spicy food, you absolutely must try the spicy tonkotsu ramen! The heat level was just right - enough to make your lips tingle, but not so much that it overwhelmed the other flavors. But the Tonkotsu ramen and spicy Tonkotsu ramen were not the only highlights of the meal. The karage was crispy and delicious, with just the right amount of seasoning. And the takoyaki was a real treat - perfectly crispy on the outside, with a tender and flavorful filling. Overall, I would highly recommend Naka Ramen to anyone looking for delicious Japanese cuisine. The food is outstanding, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the service is top-notch. Dont miss out on this gem of a restaurant!

This one is the better or the best Ramen bar in Sugarland area, Just a reminder, this is a Ramen restaurant, so please try to order the Ramen, yes - the Ramen to appreciate their food, which is what they do best. As you know, the most important ingredient in the Ramen is in the Broth. Especially Tonkotsu. One of the hardest Japanese broth to cook it right. It takes a lot of time and patience to boil the bone and other spices. To test if they make it right, you need to try the plain regular Tonkotsu broth ( without any soy or other chilly souces) Naka appears to have it realy good one. Not the best that Ive tried in Houston area, but the best one in Sugarland area. So, instead of driving a cross town to find a good Ramen bar, this one is quite excellent in Sugarland area. The Naka broth is about right, and is not from powder, like most other places, which are way too salty, and too watery. If I may suggest to the cook [ if you read this], try to make the broth a bit thicker please ( richer, longer boiling the bone until melt the marrow completely). Make it like the famous Tokyo style Tonkotsu. ( I lived in Saitama for few years, so... yea I know the taste). Naka Tonkotsu broth taste like more authentic bone broth. But in the lighter side, more like shoyu but with rich pork flavors. Real good tonkotsu broth starts from the real pork bones. The pigs are already well marinated from the farm. Absolutely NO need for extra Salt and MSG! Other ramen restaurants around Houston are are just way toooo salty, and you can literally taste the heavy MSG in it. Sometimes I wonder, do the chefs really taste it before selling it? Or just because American customer already get used to super salty food like the fast food? The Noodles are the right noodles for tonkotsu, a lot of ramen places use wrong noodles for Japanese soup style, obviously for economic purpose. Most of them use Fried ( chinese) noodles types. Japanese culinary is very peculiar about their ingredients ( their culture). The Chasu is good as it gets. Since most places dont make it themselves, for business purposes. They just need to pick the best suppliers for their chasu. The Ajitama egg is perfect The service is excellent, the only one waiter is Lily, she is very nice and funny ( please give her a raise, ) and the Ramen chef is Yihe Chen, he is a great cook who worked in a restaurant in Japan before he works at Naka now. Very clean and not congested place. They play Japanese song too Im glad that Ive found a really good ramen place near my home. And I have my special same table where I sit most of the time..

Best Tonkotsu in Sugarland. The Broth is just perfect, no powder, no MSG cheater here. The broth uses real bones, slow boiled into perfection. The tonkotsu tastes a lot better than most other Ramen bars around Houston area that Ive tried. I love tonkotsu, so I tried a lot of ramen bars around Houston. Most other Ramen bars are not even run by its owners, eventhough they claimed that their Japanese owner is the cook. You can see right in the kitchen, who are the actual cooks. Most Ramen bars have open kitchen. The owner ( Yihe san) is the cook, he cooks the broth himself daily. This is a family run restaurant. So, no impostor here. His wife ( Zhuyu chan) and his cousin (Lili chan ) both are wonderful waiters. Yihe san lived in Japan as a cook, where he learnt to cook ramen. Im glad that he brings his experience here and happen to be near my home. Very clean and cozy place.

We let our waitress know our fried chicken dish was under cooked. An older man could be heard behind the curtain yelling because we brought the food concern to their attention. They then proceeded to return the SAME chicken and claiming that it was now well done . We let them know we would not be paying for the fried chicken dish, But were still willing to pay the rest of the ticket. The older man mentioned above, proceeded to storm out to the seating area, and begin yelling in an attempt to intimidate us. We paid for our the rest of our food and left after being yelled at for over 5 minutes- we are so disgusted that they would re-fry a chicken that was already eaten off of.

I have to share our experience and warn people about this place. My friend and I went on Nov. 10 in the evening and we were shocked. First of all, the soup had a bad fish smell, which shouldve never been the case because ramen soup base is tonkotsu, not fish. Then we realized that the egg was rotten. We are very familiar with coddled eggs in ramen and this is not it. Just look at the picture. We couldnt even bring ourselves to eat it because the rotten egg smell was already very pungent. Lastly, the noddle itself was not ramen noodle. It was very soggy. Were not sure why this place got such good reviews but we surely wouldnt be going back.

The empty dishes and piles of guava candy say it all really. The tonkotsu ramen and tempura vegetables were delicious. Reportedly the octopus salad was tasty as we. Our server, Steven, was so nice that he gave us a coupon because he remembered us from our one prior visit. Naka is a nice place for a ramen fix.

This is currently now the closest ramen shop to my home. The Tonkotsu Ramen is mediocre at best, its not bad but when compared to other ramen shops around Houston that Ive visited (Tatsuya, Jinya, Tiger Den), this particular ramen shop has a lot of work to do. When compared to the other ramen shops Ive been to, the broth is bland and watery, the noodles felt undercooked, and the meat felt dry and not really tender. I have hopes for this place but unfortunately other shops are worth the drive at this point in time.

Off a whim I decided to order from this place as I just wanted to try tonkatsu Ramen. The food is FANTASTIC. Very authentic meals. The buns were perfect, the broth was a deep flavor, and my wife loved her calamari. Steven was a great help as well in guiding me to what I wanted and was very respectful to my wife when she picked. Will 100% be eating here again! Shoot if yall got more coupons send them my way! Hahaha!

As Goldilocks would say, Everything is just right. The Tonkatsu broth was rich and silky, but not heavy and salty. There was a light hint of smoke on the chashu that lingered in the broth. Lively atmosphere with happy families enjoying their meals. I will be back with mine.

Simply exquisite ramen. The broth is just right which is a big thing for me because I don t like it when the broth is super potent, I can assure you that won t be a problem here. Had some of there appetizers and enjoyed that as well. The staff were very lovely and the place was very clean.

The service was great and quick, but I thought the food was truly mediocre. The karaage is more so like a chicken nugget in its composition and breading, and the takoyaki was quite doughy, without much seafood. The ramen soup was quite salty and alright, and the noodles definitely seemed from a package. I think this would be a great spot if youre really missing yourself some Japanese ramen and are in the area, but definitely expect a more americanized/westernized rather take than authentic Japanese ramen! Its difficult for me to review this because I do want to encourage local businesses, but I also cherish honest reviews. While theres definitely nothing explicitly ~wrong~ about the experience I had here, I think the food was definitely only mediocre, and I dont think the current Google reviews are genuinely reflective of this. Naka, youre doing a great job as a relatively newly opened business, and I wish you all the best in growth in the future!

Glad this place is finally open! I had driven past it several times last year and was looking forward to having a ramen place close to my house. I tried the tempura taro cake along with the tonkatsu ramen. The taro cake was on point and tasted terrific. The tonkatsu ramen was pretty good but not great. The broth was not as flavorful as it could have been and the noodles were not as chewy /crunchy as I typically prefer. Having said that, the pork and other ingredients were great. I still thought it was a good bowl of ramen overall and given its proximity to the house, I will definitely be back.
