We unfortunately arrived too late to go in. It would have been interesting to see the legacy of the Confederate soldiers here in Texas.

Camp is clean and well kept by the State of Texas. However, I would not come from far away just to come here since there is not a lot to see. But, if you are nearby, at a reasonable driving distance, then come for sure!

Great place to stop and visit. Beautiful grounds, interesting informational markers, and a very peaceful atmosphere to recharge yourself. My family and I stopped while en route home from our Spring Break trip and we spent about thirty minutes just enjoying the scenery while marveling at the significance the site once held to the community. We even got to see a beautiful diamond back water snake (non-venomous) relaxing on the rocks near the water!

We used this parking lot to do the limestone bluffs paddle trail. It was on mofial day and there was literally no one else there when we were there. They have nice bathrooms and the facilities to enter the Navasota River are nice.

It was neat to see and read about where the old sellers from back in the day went to hang out. Looked like a pretty hot spot to chill at. The water was rushing by pretty fast so we were perplexed at how hard it may have been to stand upright. Got a good glimpse of a heron, however couldnt get the pic of it cuz we had startled it and it flew off before I could capture a shot. What a peaceful place to daydream and think about the days of ole...

Riding a bike on a beautiful crisp cool day with my granddaughter who is 9 was by far the most gorgeous, amazing place to enjoy riding around on a cruiser bike and just taking in all this beauty . Such a well maintained, prideful historical site . I can t describe in words the feeling I felt that day,. There is not really a safe place to ride bikes in Mexia in my neighbor , our roads are full of holes and cracks and not safe for kids or older adults . Reunion Grounds was my answered prayer. Thank you for this beautiful memory.

You can learn alittle history. Theres a canon, a couple remnants of old chimneys. a place to put in a kayak or canoe in the river, a short walk, a nice pavillion, and a metal slide and some swings for the kids.

We stopped here on our way out from Fairfield lake state park. Its a great place with lots of historical information. Its amazing to see how people lived. The grounds are beautifully kept and we were the only ones touring the grounds in June 2020. It was $4 and adult to access. Bring exact cash to fill out the envelope to get your access permit. I think my favorite was the gazebo but the canon was pretty amazing to see too. It would have been fun to kayak the river, but due to timing and exhaustion from camping, I just didnt have it in me. I hops youll get a chance to stop by and see some history and enjoy a peaceful tour of the grounds. We also saw the Mexia lake on the way out to hwy 84.

We spent the weekend at Fort Parker state park and decided to rent a canoe and paddle up river to see the Confederate Reunion Grounds. Dont listen to the ranger when they say it is a 45min paddle up stream, more like 2 hour. The park its self looked clean and well maintained. Probably worth a drive in by car..

The CRG is a great place just to relax. Massive burr oaks surround the grounds of the site and the Navasota River flows quietly by. Historical ruins are interesting to walk through, and the Old Val Verde cannon is a great photo op. The pavilion (easily over 100 years old) is great for a family gathering, or just a place to do lunch. One of my favorite places anywhere!
