everything was allright, except half the food was served 20 minutes after the first half. so they watched us eat and we had to wait for them to finish eating. Not the ideal dinning experience.

My husband and I decided to try this place, thinking it would have good Mexican dishes. Besides the extreme disappointment of how badly the food was made: half assed, lack of cooking skills and the food was not authentic as promised. We got violently ill less than an hour after eating there. Such a horrible experience and we really wanted to give it a chance. Edit: First of All dont come after my manners simply for being honest. As for my other Review on a completely different Restaurant, you cant speak for them or know enough about the situation. However, on my Review about your Restaurant, I was never rude to your Staff and Paid because we werent looking for a free meal and have the Respect enough to understand an exchange of services. Yes, I did not like your food but my cause to leave such a Review was because we got Food Poisoning and that isnt because of Taste but of Food Contamination.

Went in today with my family it was thier 1st Sunday open. Now idk if they reheated things from last night. But not even 30min after leaving. We all got sick and started vomiting . It was embarrassing having to stop in the road and all of us jumping out vomiting. I will advise people to be careful with thier food.

We ate lunch at T501 today. It was great! The service was excellent and the food delicious. We struggled a little as our waitress spoke little English and we only speak a little Spanish, but we worked it out and had a wonderful experience. We ate combo taco plate with pastor, taquitos, and a fajitas bowl. We recommend all of them.

It was the first time I went Super delicious, I was going for some tacos that I saw in photos but I didnt know what they were called until I saw the screens with the images and discovered that it was called Matamoros but I had already ordered a gringa, they had told me that it was smaller than a synchro , and even so he was able to with me and I really eat a lot. Maybe it would fill me up because the service came with some delicious charro beans, pico de gallo, and toast. The treatment was very cordial from the girl who helped me. The place was clean as were the bathrooms. Leaving the place, a person passed by asking if it was good in there, to which I made the recommendation that he would not regret trying a good taqueria meal.

I was so excited to try this place because of the ratings and that its in the valley, the waitress was great but the food was mediocre to say the least, got the taquitos shredded beef not much meat in them and the rice had no flavor and beans were not good at all. I also got the trompo tacos al pastor. They were greasy but they were ok on flavor. I was so disappointed.

WOooow I was fascinated with the trompito hehe very delicious the fresh waters are good and my wife ordered a combo with roast potato and decided to add roast meat and she was happy. Something that I really liked is the sauces, there are two but you dont need more than the red and green which are very good and the pico de gallo, delicious name all the truth and the atmosphere not to mention some sticky rolls and the attention is the same the two girls who serve you are very nice I will definitely return to this place and try something new

The most delicious food!!!!! We had the enchiladas a street tacos. The tripa tacos were extra crispy and went perfectly with the cilantro and onions. They give you a bowl of beans to start and they were extremely flavorful. The potato was so soft and flavorful I can t even put it into words. The service was amazing. Headed out today to grab tacos for dinner. It was a toss-up between a couple of places, but we decided on Taqueria 501 Tacos & Burgers on 10th Street, McAllen. This was our second visit, and let me start by saying the second time was even better than the first! The lemonade is freshly squeezed, and our guacamole appetizer was amazingly great. Super fresh avocados! Chips on point. Their complementary serving of pico de gallo was perfect. Our entrees were just as good. I love tacos de trompo, and most recently, my go-to place on 83 began serving them a little on the greasy side. Not at 501. They were perfect. The pineapple was well-balanced. The serving of my papa was fitting for the dish. Overall, my dish was amazing. 501 served up some of the best tacos de trompo Ive had. My wife, this time around, chose the Hamburguesa Mexicana. This burger was no joke. Well-served, rich flavor, and no 1/4 lb patty or less. It was closer to 1/2 lb, maybe a little more than 1/2 lb. She allowed me to take a few bites, and it was oh so good. The fries were served hot and crispy. Definitely a well-served dish. My sons gringas were well-served and tasted great. No sides to this dish. He did, however, only eat half. :) The restaurants overall cleanliness is superb. Shiny floors, clean tables, and well-lit. The mood overall feels positive. The restaurant staff is attentive and well-mannered. Bathrooms are just as clean. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some good hamburguesas and some great-tasting tacos de trompo. Do not pass this up!

Chile 501 from Taqueria 501. Jalapeno filled with melty cheese wrapped in bacon with melted cheese on top served over corn tortillas. They leave the seeds in so its definitely spicy I had to take them out but oh my it was sooo good cant wait to have it again

Ive eaten here several times and has always been a pleasant dining experience with my family but never reviewed it before. People complaining about the atmosphere are being dramatic, its a Taqueria not a 5 Star Restaurant nor they claim to be so just come and enjoy the food and friendly service. I preface this review by saying 3 stars isnt a bad review...an eatery can have some shining stars but certain flaws that bring it down. The food here was tasty...the service was great. But the atmosphere just wasnt helping. By chance I took my family here on Cinco de Mayo...just a coincidence. The place is quite large, but feels largely empty. They have wooden benches for seats which is fine. But the place felt fairly empty...it had the feel of an Adult Day Care with benches inside. As far as the atmosphere goes...they had traditional Mariachi songs playing during the entire time we were there. I get it was Cinco de Mayo...but really? Do we need to listen to Jarabe Tapatío while eating our tacos? It also felt like you could overhear the conversation of others...or your conversation was heard by others. There were no sound barriers to cut the sound...so it felt like everything was hushed. On to the food...my wife had the espadas and I had the mini-trompo. The espadas were good...and the mini-Tromp was the definite winner here. It looked small at first, but you can definitely make 5-6 tacos from it. Fill out the place a little more..give it more atmosphere...maybe install some booths...and play something else for music...and then this place can easily hit 5 stars.

This place has been mine and my wifes go to spot whenever we are in mcallen area or if we want to sneak out and get food. Always has been since they were in the food truck! I have yet to order something we havent liked. Best tripas and mollejas tacos weve had. The mexican burger is absolutely phenomenal. They gave us spoiled beans, we told a waitress, and they still continued to serve people. They also charged us $15 in tip plus taxes when we were only 4 adults and a 2-year-old girl. Excellent service but the food is not what we expected. The pastor tacos were super greasy, the msabir was super invasive. I ordered them with Pina but big disappointment that it wasnt pastor it was just pork seasoned in exaggeration and with Pina and The flavor was super invasive. I came here because of all the positive reviews, but it didnt do it for me. I had an order of tacos. The flavor was average at best and they didnt have much meat. The charro beans tasted like regular boiled beans nothing special, and the salsa left a little to be desired. I did intend on dining in but as soon as I stepped inside I decided to take it to go. The atmosphere/layout didnt feel very inviting. I wish I had a better experience but Ill probably give it another chance in the future.

The staff here is very friendly and attentive, they have plenty of options to choose from, for my visit I went for the hamburger #1 (which is basically the Mexican style burger but with sausages). The burger was pretty good, it was very filling the meat was missing something a bit of seasoning,I would recommend adding grilled spiced onions to it for extra flavor, I like that they give you a jalapeño wrapped in grilled cheese. The burger comes with french fries and they were delicious, hot and crispy made fresh to order. They serve you chips with salsa and charro beans while you wait. Overall great place for food with plenty of options, I will return in the future and try more things.

We went because of their trompitos and they didnt have any... but we drove 30min to go there, so we still ordered. To top it off, they only have ONE highchair without safety buckle. And I have 2 babies. Principio de tlalpeño, super salty Sincronizada de bistek, extremely greasy 2 orders of tacos, fajita and pastor. We asked them to do them without oil, and the tortilla didnt have oil, but the meat was still very greasy. Def not worth the hype, not good at all.

My wife saw this place on Facebook and we decided to try it today. She really enjoyed her mini-trompito order. I had the classic hamburger and it was pretty tasty. The place is very clean and does not smell like a taqueria. Our waitress (I did not get her name but she has short hair and was wearing a cap) was polite, attentive, and gave us all around great service. We are looking forward to returning and I want to try the torta. Plenty of parking and very clean bathrooms, too. Menu has a good number of options and easy to understand. Parking: Plenty of parking Kid-friendliness: Picnic bench seating option and plenty of room so that rowdy kids do not bump into other tables.

I was looking for some Mexican tacos here in the McAllen area. My husband saw this taco stand truck and we decided to check it out. The lady who took my order was very polite but she didnt explain to me about the corn tortillas how were they cooked. They were extremely oily but the food was delicious and the beans too. Next time ill order without the grease on the tortillas but overall its a great place to hang out with friends or after the clubs. I gave this place a 5 star for the taste of meat & presentation. Taquería 501 is quick and delicious taco truck fare. You can have regular or dipped in fat. Potatoes, mollejas, fajitas, bistek, frijoles! Muy delicioso! Mexican Cokes!
