Ordered a porterhouse steak and they brought me a t bone. Refused it and asked for a ribeye, it was not tender at all. Did notify supervisor to check with their distributor or for them to purchase higher grade meat not the cheapest. With the pricing they have on their menu it was extremely disappointing.

Great time and good food and service. Mauricio, our server was very attentive and knew the menu. We had questions on some of the plates and quickly responded, helping us pick the food that we were craving. There, Aguachiles Madre and tostadas de tuna were great appetizers. Highly recommend their steak and fries and tampiquena. Overall, it was great service and good food for our birthday celebration. Also, the manager was always checking everyone in the establishment was doing good. Great job on Mauricio and the lady manager who was on duty during the evening hours. Highly recommended to friends and family to go for a good time and good food.

Today we went to celebrate my daughter-in-laws birthday. We have been there many times and the food is always exquisite and very well served. Very nice place and the atmosphere and the music of the excellent saxophonist . The waitress was very friendly and attentive. It seems like there were many birthdays today and the restaurant was full and very happy. I love it!

Casa Madre is doing it right! Just not for for me, dont get me wrong, but the place is too loud. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a warm welcome. The host was very pleasant. Unfortunately we were seated right in front of the live music setup but the staff quickly tended to our needs. Yes, a little too loud, not the kind of establishment for me. The wait staff was on fire, they did keep on eye on all guests. So i did start with Black Margarita,( which I ADVISE you to ask what they use to make this cocktail the color, black; this is a warning because the mixologist did not mention what ingredients are used) in hopes and just maybe that would help me join the atmosphere, didnt work! I could not have a conversation with my guests, I found myself raising my voice to answer back to the waiter. Not good!!! As for the food, well we did order plenty of food, after all it was a party of 15, and not many complaints from the family, I will say our ribeyes did have a little too much charring flavor. I do like me some toasted tortillas, but this taste was a little too much. Overall I was satisfied with everything else. What I did enjoy and will probably go back for is the Appetizers,we had Prime Ribeye Aguachiles, and the Shrimp Aguachiles we ordered them with the salsa verde because we were warned the habaneros piquancy was on the little too spicy so we kept it mild. The Casa madre Avocado is served with store bought pork rinds so Nope! not to my likings. The next time, i will ask for tortilla chips, those were nice! And if the staff is attentive as they were that evening i am sure they will make that change for us without hesitation. My Ribeye steak was cooked to my liking but yes, the grill marks had that extra charring and that gave my steak a bitter taste. And my husband and my son and everyone pretty much everyone with a steak said the same thing, I am sure we all walked out of there with higher levels of HCAs, hench i was the only one with a Black Margarita. Still willing to go back sit away from the live music and share that Stuffed Mexican Concha, and ooh that chocolate cake! Parking: This was very inconvinite because we had a handicap guest who did not have a choice. And there was vehicles parked without handicap plaque or plates. I did not notice the valet, what happened to this option? I do remember this choice was available a while back?

BE AWARE OF FRAUD! I had went on a Friday night, no wait time. Service was slow. End of the night, I left cash tip to be generous despite only being seen once by my server. Checked my bank statements the next morning & they had entered my card number & gave themselves a huge tip without my consent. I called my bank & it was confirmed they entered it at the time I already left the restaurant. I kept receipts as proof of the time my card was swiped to pay for the bill. I called the restaurant for a refund on an unauthorized transaction. No one knew English & they hung up on me multiple times. Spoke to management named Jorge , he said he was going to credit & never did. I had to file fraud & get a new bank card. I would not recommend whatsoever!

I was very disappointed by the quality of the food we got for breakfast, for the price I expected better quality of food. The potatoes were bland and soggy, the fajita had a bad flavor to it, the seasoning was not really any good. Overall I dont see myself returning or recommending the food from this place knowing there are better breakfast options. They tagged me in Instagram stories as the winner of a dish and drink from the Fathers Day giveaway. I went and before being assigned a table I told the girls at the entrance and they very kindly said yes and assigned me a table. When I finished eating and asked for the bill to pay for the other dish I ordered, they charged me in full, saying that the giveaway was a mistake. So why did they say yes to me from the beginning and assign me a table? And the worst thing was the terrible treatment from the rude lady they have there (manager or whatever), its a shame they have people like that in those positions. The food is okay, it s not expensive but I was super off put by the business policies. First of all, they charged $50 for a reservation, which I was okay with because they told me it would be discounted from our final bill and it wasn t, I had to ask them to revise the bill. Secondly, we went there for father s day and I took a cookie cake for my father in law as a gift and a cupcake for my 2 year old nephew. They told me I couldn t bring them in because there was a $15 charge/item to bring them in. I told her it was 100 degrees and I couldn t leave it in the car because it would melt but that we didn t plan on eating it there because it was just a gift. She reluctantly said that it was okay. Third, there is an extra charge to pay with credit card vs. cash which is incredibly ridiculous because our bill was upwards of $250. I understand this policy for small businesses when you purchase small amounts, and I don t mind it, but this was a big restaurant with the appropriate resources and quite frankly it seems greedy.

This restaurant is attached to La Plaza Mall in McAllen. Good atmosphere and first look presentation. Very busy with a variety of good tasting meals available. Plan on waiting for a table for at least 30 minutes. Wait staff needs help. Prices are on the upper level but acceptable.

It was college graduation day. It was a busy day for most restaurants. We had 12 at our table. We loved the violinist while he was there. Drinks were awesome. We had to repeatedly ask for water that the waitress kept forgetting. Then we were not told that they will bring you a glass bottle of water which they charge you for. (Not given a warning or choice). Food was EXCELLENT. No complaints at our table concerning the food. The restaurant was so thoughtful to have a backdrop congregadulating the graduates. Thank you for that!! I hope to return to try other choices on the menu & give the service another try on a regular day. I hope the violinist is there again!

My husband took us here for a brunch. He knows how much I love late breakfast and let me tell you. All this 1 star comments dont make them justice. At sitting the table corner scratched my thighs and got hurt badly. Tables were put too closely to the booth. Our booth area was full of flies while eating. We let our waitress know about flies but nothing was done. My husband gets serve 3 little cups of salsa which he did liked but when asked for chips we got told chips didnt come out till after 3pm and it was 1pm. They gave us these bread bites with butter and told us to put the salsa in the bread. The cappuccino I order was okish. And my husband had coke. I order the abuela Omelette and my husband the tampiqueña. My Omelette said included ham but didnt specifies was turkey ham. I order cheese with it and the cheese was no where to be found in the Omelette. My husband plate lack some flavor in the enchiladas. FOR our fortune the manager Peter was around tables asking if service was good. And lord knows I let him have it. Told him about the flies and aside the food not been top notch restaurant quality the waitress service was good. He apologized and out a fan aside of our table. Kept talking and talking about how it was a hectic Sunday and our waitress got pressured so much by the manager he came to our table to ask us if he had done something wrong. Well we assured him that the service was good but fir starters he could of taken our concerns to the manager and maybe he wouldnt gotten as pressured. As we about to leave and had asked for the ticket. Peter offered to sit us somewhere else. We declined as we just wanted to keave. Aside all the trying to make it better, we got offered a free concha as a dessert because manager said thats what their known for. We asked to plated to go because we wanted to leave. He gave us hes number to give us better service next time. I dont think there will be a next time. The least they could of done is give us an inconvenience discount. 10% minimum. We still paid 80$ for two. Presentation and pictures can say so much. But when you are there is a different experience. By the way what the heck, with the atmosphere???!!! Its a mix of everything and you dont even know where you at and what you eating, or what they were going for? Props to the guy singing live. Thats the only good thing I took from the brunch. Sadly no one clapped for him and he was singing good.

I had the chili en nogada! I wasn t entirely certain I wanted pomegranates in my stuffed poblano pepper. I like to live life on the edge from time to time. The stuffing and nut cream sauce for the poblano were sweet and creamy . A nice helping of steamed vegetables rounded out the meal. I was given a sample of the nut cream sauce to try before ordering. Service was good even at the busy lunchtime. The casa has a huge video screen with a fantastic video showing many beautiful landscapes around the globe.

I came today, March 17, 2024 to eat, we only had a 5-minute pre-breakfast and I went with my family and we ate a super tasty Cuban cake, hamburger, a Tampiqueña and some very tasty mole enchiladas, Carmen and Gilberto were very attentive and explained the menu. I am surprised this restaurant has a high rating. We were in the Mcallen area and decided to have brunch in this restaurant because of the high reviews. However, we were highly disappointed. We got the guacamole for appetizer and i do not recommend it. The bowl is filled with lettuce and at the top it was 1 small scoop of guacamole. It looked more like a salad rather than a guacamole. My main dish was very salty. Overall, the food was not the best in flavor. The place did look clean and nice, however, the service and food do not meet expectations. We also waited roughly 15 minutes to get assistance from a waiter, we then decided to ask the receptionist if a waiter has been assigned to our table. I would not recommend this restaurant if you are in the Mcallen area looking for a place to dine.

I booked the restaurants private room for a surprise for my mom. The attention from the waiters and the hostess was very good but I especially have to thank and recommend the excellent attention of the manager Ivan since he was aware of the details and was very helpful. He offered to help me raise and lower the decoration things in addition to being aware of my mothers arrival and the surprise with a mariachi to open the curtains of the place at the indicated time. Everything went well. The food and atmosphere excellent in my opinion as always. My recommended meals from Casa Madre are chiles en nogada when they are in season and cheese in sauce for breakfast.
