Shakes is the place to be. You can catch Any of the big games here during the day or at night on one of the multiple big screen tvs and even on the giant screen upstairs in their game room. Gotta come by on the weekend when they have live bands out on the deck and 3 very high level djs (Thursday-Sunday) Also, be sure to grab one of their pitcher drinks and you cant go wrong

Great spot to watch a game with more TVs than most on 6th Street. They normally have live music or a DJ. Outdoor seating and a balcony. The beers were a little expensive at $7 each for cans of Shiner Bock, but the bartender was nice. We went around 6:00pm on a Friday.

Such a fun place! There are multiple levels and stages, each with their own vibe. Theres live music and a DJ, so literally anything for anyone. Its right on 6th so its definitely right where all the action is. People kept recommending it, so its definitely the spot to be.

Great little pub in the heart of downtown Austin. We stopped in for a round of drinks on a weeknight. It was relatively slow then, but so was ever other place in the area. Drinks and service were excellent, and we found the prices to be very fair. Definitely a great little watering hole worth checking out, especially if you enjoy live music.

Every time we re in Austin, we make sure to come here unfortunately this time one of our friends lost their phone there and the phone number they have doesn t work. We checked what time they opened the next day (Sunday) and went, only to be told they couldn t do anything about it even though it marked that it was still there. We were in the upstairs area and the guy that was there Sunday said it was only him there so couldn t leave the bar unattended which is understandable but wouldn t even give a working phone number to call for any updates, we left ours but nothing. We understand they get busy and got a lot going on and could ve forgotten but they should at least have a working phone number. We don t live in Austin therefore had to leave and my friend had to buy a new phone.

Went here to watch my nephews band play. Very warm welcome from the staff. Including Kevin who offered me a hot spot off his phone as Id got no data. A long thin downstairs bar had a live music act. There were pool tables out back. Upstairs has a house band on a Thursday. They were great fun. There are two bars upstairs. Its a big sprawling venue with good vibes and a flow of 6th street people coming in during the night. Wonderful open balcony upstairs where the band play.

Not sure why this called Shakespeares. Nothing about it indicates any connection to Shakespeare. Bartender was there and took initial orders, but gave off a weird energy. He was visibly drinking behind the bar, which I get is part of the industry, but dont do it so obviously and while training a new person. Just seemed tacky and unprofessional. The live music was good, but you can get cheaper drinks with a better vibe and service at any other bar nearby. Wouldnt come back.

The security of this bar wouldn t let a woman who left the bar to get an Uber (that canceled on her) back in with her 10 other friends because she was too drunk and stumbled once. He said to trust him and his male coworker to get her home over TEN women in the bar who were her friends. This woman was drinking water the rest of the night before she left the bar and wasn t doing anything to endanger the bar to not let her back in with TEN other women who were with her and taking care of her. Misogynistic to say the least. I ve probably been accepted into that bar in more danger than on the Tuesday night that we went. Don t go here if you are a woman period.

I we t on a slow Monday night. Downstairs they had a live music that was enjoyable. Upstairs they had what looked like open mic night for comedians. The staff was really friendly and attentive. We re having the best time here! I ve been to Austin a couple times and Shakespeare s has such a great selection for everything you could ever want. Make sure to ask for RAE (!) because she is literally the best bartender I ve ever had and is amazing, mixes in nice personal conversation and professionalism. Actually a really enjoyable experience. If youre going to be on 6th, you have to go to Shakespeares. An Austin institution, the drink specials are always great. This place normally has live music on the weekends, and sitting on the upper level gives you a great place to watch the mess that is dirty 6th. So, go grab a drink and watch drunk people stumble around on the street below at Shakespeares! You wont regret it.

I reccomend all the way around. Im from San Antonio and I have been here three times now. The first time I went their drinks were so delicious I got carried way away ! The second and third time I waent for the music and it was on point. The atmosphere is fantastic and so are the people that come here ! All three times I met people who were just having a great Time and wanting to hang out ! The third time i came with a group of people we came for a little bit and left to explore other bars and found that none of them met our expectations so we came back after an hour !!! All around fantastic time, great drinks, great bartenders, great music, great atmosphere.
