Very disappointing experience. Lousy service lousy food. I was really looking forward to eating here after seeing it in college station I suggested we dine while visiting Lubbock. Other locations maybe different but Lubbock is zero stars. Waited 1 hour for food after ordering. Waitress never returned to fill coffee or drinks. I even went to the bar to get coffee refills. Doughnuts were greasy saturated fat cakes crusted in sugar. The biscuits are dry and bland with consistency of milled cardboard. Pancakes were tasteless. It s really hard to mess up breakfast but the kitchen and Toasted Yolk can limbo under that bar. No toilet paper in the women s room. Major disappointment, brought my family here and wasted $$ but very glad I won t be bringing my larger family group back next week for a frustrating experience. I didn t have any alcohol, maybe you have to to enjoy this place. Cannot recommend.

Normally toasted yolk is pretty good, I like the food alot, but the service was so slow today. Obviously this restaurant needs to fire their kitchen manager or something, because if they cant get an order out within an hour, there is a serious problem with the kitchen. I doubt that my wife and I will be coming back to eat here if the kitchen cant get their act together.

One hour wait to get in after app said were next. Two hours to get food. Only brought 3 of 4 orders. Said kitchen ran out of food. Dropped off food and left for 20 minutes never bringing maple syrup for pancakes. Had to leave after 3 hours to go somewhere else to get food. Manager never came and they overcharged us two plates. We just paid to leave. Worst resturant experience in Lubbock.

First time patron of this restaurant and we decided to order breakfast for pickup. We ordered 4 entrees and we picked it up about 25 minutes after our initial order. I saw that there were 4 entrees in the bag so I left for home. Once I realized one meal was actually separated into two boxes, I figured out we were shorted an entree. I called the restaurant and they said they would have it ready. So back I went. Waited at the back window for about 15 minutes. Was able to finally get someone on the phone to know I was back there. Keep in mind all the drive time and wait time to get these meals. I would expect a fresh meal. Nope. Cold meal from the order from pretty much an hour ago now. This will be our one and only purchase at this restaurant. The food, honestly, was not worth what we paid for it. I would hope the dine in experience is far superior to the pickup order option.

So many good things to say! Restaurant was very clean, modern and colorful. The atmosphere screams energy and happiness. Food was really good, big servings. They also have options for those with gluten and dairy intolerances, like myself. Coffee was great, came in adorable cups. Will be back on more of my visits to Lubbock.

This is my new favorite place for breakfast in Lubbock. The brisket scramble was about twice the size I anticipated and was better than expected. The coffee was a quality roast that complemented the meal well, and my daughters were impressed with their gargantuan pancakes. Cant wait to return and try more of the menu. The brunch drink menu is calling my name too.

Sunday brunch was packed in like sardines. Food was good but ordered a side of hashbrowns with onions which was an upcharge just for onions, and there was probably less than 2 oz of hashbrowns and 5 flakes of onion. It was very disapointing to pay for such little. Parking: No parking.

Update August 2024: Wish I could give 4.5 stars! This time, we snuck out for brunch at The Toasted Yolk late on a Friday morning, and there was no wait. I had the Southwest Breakfast Bowl with poached eggs and it was delicious. I had a cappuccino instead of regular coffee this time was a bit more like a latte but delicious (and pretty) nonetheless. Husband had the Golden Waffles and he really liked them. Service was quick and friendly. -------- The Toasted Yolk was quite busy on a Saturday, but we were seated outside right away. It would have been a 45-min wait inside, and the sun plus outdoor heaters kept our focus on our experience and not on the windy January chill. Two of us ordered Benedicts (Arnolds here), and they accommodated us by splitting each order between plates (so we each got two different styles). Coffee wasnt great. Other than one persons food coming out when the rest of us were almost finished, service was good, food was pretty good, portions were filling, and prices were reasonable. They have quite a lot on the menu and I think it is definitely worth returning to try other items.

Had an outstanding brunch at The Toasted Yolk Cafe today! I didnt catch the waiters name but he was also the bartender. He did an excellent job of making suggestions and was very friendly. I had the Ham & Eggs and it was hot, fresh, and very well cooked! Lots of food! She had the Southern Fried Arnold and it was likewise! Portions were excellent! We both had some kind of watermelon drink with Vodka in it and that hit the spot! Service overall was fast and friendly. The bartender felt like he neglected us and so he added a small discount. Who does that? These guys do! If you havent been then get out of the IHOP and try them out!

For a party of 5 the wait was longer than if there was less. the Golden Gate omelette was pretty good. Lots of different textures and flavor. Grits were nicely salted and even better with a tab of butter and pepper. Biscuit was ok, little on the drier side, Gravy was also ok, salted, little bits of meat. The pancake and salad were HUGE! Plenty of food with whatever you order. Took a long time to make a cold brew with vanilla flavor. Madison was very busy, but efficient.

First time customer, went for mimosas & brunch. New spot, thought wed try it on a Monday so we can avoid crowds. The atmosphere is bright, the restaurant is spotless, & the decor is nice. Our waitress was great as she hustled & tried to maintain a good level of service. BUT THATS IT. We decided to order their Churro Donuts as a starter to have with coffee. When the Donuts arrived, I took ONE BITE & almost vomited on the table on site. My spouse did the same. We brought this issue to our waitress attention & did not make a scene. She removed the item from our bill & apologized. She had a kitchen staff member taste our order to confirm our suspicions- the sygar had been substituted for SALT folks. It was literal shock to the system. However, NO ONE ELSE DID ANYTHING ABOUT IT. We were not greeted by a manager nor a chef representative. No leadership presence tending to customer issues at all. As a rule.of thumb, ALL FOOD COMING OUT OF A COMERCIAL KITCHEN MUST BE TASTED. The mimosas were good, the coffee was ok AND the rest of the food was decent. Despite the flop, we paid our bill (almost $70) and tipped our wait staff ($20). A little disappointed as we really wanted to like the place. Weve DEFINITELY had better for MUCH LESS money.

This place was fantastic. Jada was our waitress, we asked about gluten free options for my husband and she laid them all out for him. Even double checked in the back and asked the chef to switch gloves in between to avoid cross contamination. While he isn t super sensitive to cross contamination it s such a gift to have staff that s responsive to that. He got the eggs and cake what a treat for him to be able to order anything on the menu including French toast! I got the brisket scrambler, wow! So much food and the coffee mugs are adorable. We d love to have this option in Amarillo!!! Dietary restrictions: They are very aware and educated on gluten free options. Lots of choices and the staff was quite responsive to requests.

I recently visited this location, and it was my first time visiting a Toasted Yolk Cafe. I didnt realize when we went there that it was a chain. The overall first impression was strong..... to the point that I went on their website and looked at their franchise details. Not because I want a franchise but because Im always interested in new business growth plans, etc. For places I like and hope to have close to me. First, the menu. Think Cheesecake Factory does breakfast. The selection is that big and varied. Next, theres a bar, so this is more brunch vibes than like......an IHOP. That also means the crowd was more adult. If youre someone who doesnt like kid restaurants, this could be a good option. That being said, its not like kids arent allowed, so Im sure its hit or miss on that front. The food. Ok, so Im PICKY when it comes to breakfast, so Ill lead with that. We were a party of 2, and my husbands dish (it was a bowl) had maybe 1 to 2 more things going on than it needed to have. It was a little over the top without really adding to the meal. The food overall was good. When compared to other places in this category, like First Watch, its in line. If those places are your jam, this will be your jam. Prices are also similar.

Not good service for the 1st time. We ordered 2 coffees To-Go. Mine was simple. I ordered an iced Caramel Macchiato, but the girl bartender that morning made me a hot coffee, so she had to fix it. Then my daughter ordered the Toasted Yolk Coffee....iced coffee with an extra shot, no whip cream, but add Caramel. The bartender made her a hot coffee, so once again, she had to fix it. When we received the receipt, we realized the bartender charged us for 2 shots of Kahlua rum instead of 1 extra shot of expresso. At this time, we were in awe because the bartender just didnt seem competent enough to be behind the bar....so we left it alone and paid the tab with no tip. Sad, but I got a partial picture of her in one of my photos. Parking: Great location

We come here regularly and it s always extremely hit or miss. Sometimes the wait is reasonable and the service is good. Sometimes the waitress can t remember what drink you ordered and food takes an hour to come out. Today in particular, I ordered avacado toast with eggs over medium and when I cut into the egg, the whites were still uncooked and ran out. This is the part of the egg that can make you sick if undercooked so this is quite alarming. I understood these issues when they first opened but after this long I am surprised they still have such a wide swing of inconsistency in their service.

Wonderful service, clean and refreshing decor, with delicious food with bonus points for serving breakfast during all open hours. Eggs Benedict -The Arnold- if theyre on the menu, they are my go-to. The Toasted Yolk offers three versions of Eggs Benedict, so that leaves me 2 more to try. Game on. Also shared sweet potato waffle fries. Tasty. Parking: Plenty of parking that wraps around the building.

We re served by 3 different people all who didn t know what was going on. We waited over an hour for our food and still never got it. Had to track someone down to cancel our order. Pretty sure our food was just sitting in the back. Nothing irks me more than my time being wasted. Especially on my day off.

I added my family to the waitlist online and the wait time was 15-25 minutes. We arrive on time and the hostess told us it would be almost an hour wait. What s the point of doing the online waitlist if it won t be honored upon arrival? The hostess also looked at me like I was an idiot when I asked her why they can t honor the wait time they had online.

We enjoyed our brunch here around 10:30 on 9/9. It was pretty busy, but there was open seating at the bar, so we sat there moments after arriving. We were warmly greeted by the bartender, and our service was great. I ordered the shrimp and grits which was a melting pot of cheesy bacon shrimp awesomeness. I also order the junkyard hash brown casserole which was delicious as well. The coffee was hot and smooth, not bitter. We had a very good time here, and the food was wonderful too.

Super disappointed in the service of this place. Was seated at a dirty table that they said they d come back and clean and never did. Our waitress didn t extend the umbrella since we were outside like the rest of the tables so we had to do it. Got up to go to the restroom and told the lady that was cleaning off tables to let our server know since we hadn t seen her in a while. Got back and our table was cleared clean as they were trying to seat another group mind you we weren t gone very long at all. The manager then tried to put the blame on my little sister and i for getting up and not telling anyone which we did. We also had our sweaters on the table sooo?? When our food finally came out i had to get up and get our own silverware since our waitress didn t give us any after our table was cleared. Overall just poor service without any acknowledgment from the management to make it better. Food was decent but definitely over priced for what you get. You re better off going to farmhouse or stacked.

We have been to the Toasted Yolk a number of times and it has become our go to brunch spot in Lubbock. This morning we showed up and had one of the worst dining experiences we have had in a really long time. We ordered an app and food for our kid right after getting there. It took about 30 minutes for that food to come out. When it did we had no silverware and asked for some, we waited over 10 minutes just to get silverware. This was frustrating but not what ruined our experience. After waiting over an hour for our lunch, at this point we finally handed the waiter some cash to pay for what we had eaten and ask that he bring the change back. He said he would be right back. Another waitress said she would grab the manager and be right back. We waited another ten minutes and finally got up and left without speaking to a manager or getting our change. The restaurant was busy but not overwhelmed. I hope that corporate reads this and evaluates the leadership of this restaurant. It was so good before but this experience was one of the worst we have ever had.

Food is pretty good, though a little pricey for small portions. This was our second time here with great service again from our waiter, despite them being out of fried green tomatoes, which is one of their signature plates. However, we had a question about an ingredient in one of the breakfast items (it was a great flavor and wanted to ask what it was) that was addressed very unprofessionally. The manager or owner I m assuming came up to our table and asked what the problem was. We told him there was no problem, and actually really enjoyed the meal and was curious if there was a certain ingredient in there that we hadn t tasted our last time there. His response word for word was yeah sometimes our chefs suck at what they do which makes the food inconsistent. We were shocked. I m not sure this will keep us from returning in the future but this lack of professionalism and customer service was appalling. We have really enjoyed TY until this visit because of that interaction and wanted to share this experience.

I had eaten at the one in Houston area and was glad that Lubbock was able to get one in west Texas to some what keep up with the cities in the Texas Triangle. I had the double decker omelette with a biscuit and white gravy with coffee. My fiancé had The Arnold. We really liked the food and the wait staff were friendly and patient. It definitely is something different than the regular IHOP or Waffle House. I will certainly recommend the toasted yolk to anyone I know passing through Lubbock.

Food was great! First waitress walked off on us when we asked to turn AC down as it was rainy and cool. She walked off and got another waitress to come move us. 2nd waitress (Bree) was fantastic but had to leave to go get her child. (Understandable) She left us in the hands of a gentleman and everything was great up until the moment he walked out and said so you left NO tip and you left a $4.00 tip. Lol! In my defense i did throw the change in my purse while in a deep conversation. My mistake! Just a little taken back on the question or shall i say being called out on my tip! Not very professional, but i guess i deserved lol.

Egg prices went down but theres stayed up! Lol ... Cost me and my wife 40 bucks to eat breakfast here! And I got a water! ... The food really wasnt that flavorful. I had to add salt and pepper ... And what you get for the price was very disappointing. I got a stomach ache later.... I can see why people think its good because the cool name and they have a pretty good alcohol menu to get you nice and sauced up before you eat there bland food ... The table comes stacked with some really hot jalapeno sauce to give it a lil something too..... All in all Id say go to the store and buy breakfast for the whole week with what youd spend eating here once....

Some flags or banners hanging above, some foam on the walls. Anything, just something. Great food, great staff,, somebody up top is just not listening or does not care what it does to frustrate everyone including all of the staff that won t say a thing cause it s such a great place to eat & to be a part of.

I came in the day before mothers day of 2023 place was packed. So we decided to sit at bar and order a to go order. Waitress. at bar serviced us very well. We enjoyed food and service. Well I returned at my ladies request for shrimp n grits. The place for Mothers day wasnt busy so I decided to place a to go order as I did the previous day. I sat at bar no one greeted me at all. I sat for about 20 minutes before asking bartender for menu. Then after I asked bartender mentioned she thought I had been assisted. So I let it pass as a slip up. I waited for someone to assist before asking could I get a to go order of shrimp and grits. The bartender said yes.I then continued to wait for another 15 minutes before another waiter said this gentleman has no drink. He then asked me if I would like a drink. Then bartender gave me water. Service was bad for it not to be busy. Bartenders working checked on only 2 guests besides the 2 gentleman they were engaged with the whole time I waited. I got so upset with their rudeness I left the establishment without my order. I truly believe bartender was disrespectful and unprofessional and was racially bias.I wouldnt recommend people of color to come their unless waited on by a waitstaff of color. Lubbock establishment.
