Sushi Madre is just as good as I remember it. I haven t been to Laredo since I graduated college and came for a visit. Last time Sushi Madre only had two locations and as soon as I got to Laredo all I could think about was the Poblano soup! To my luck they built this new location right next to my hotel. The service was amazing and the food is amazing. Took me back to my college days!

Horrible service, I do not recommend! I had ordered a spicy salmon cone. The waiter brings me a spicy tuna cone. I let him know that I did not order spicy tuna. He responds with we don t make spicy salmon. Then I ask if they could change my cone since I don t like tuna and he replied, We can t do that since that s what you ordered . I told him once again that I did not in fact order tuna cones and would not be paying for something I did not order and would not be eating and told him to take the plate back. He took the plate and what I am assuming is the manager came to the table and said the waiter told her I would not be paying for the food I did not order. She made it very clear all she was concerned about was me paying for the cones I would not be eating at this point. Before she walked away she asked if they made the changes we had originally asked for if we would in fact pay which we assured her is all we wanted from the beginning. Ultimately we paid for the cones , but will not be consuming them for fear of them being tampered with by this unprofessional staff.

I have never had to leave such a terrible review, I honestly feel bad doing so. I called this place while away on a business trip. It was the closest to my hotel. I never had the opportunity to even try anything on the menu. Unfortunately, I attempted to call 3 times to place an order only to be told that they no longer had any of those choices available. These were common menu items like the Ahi Tuna tower, jalapeño appetizer, or the fish ceviche. I attempted to read the menu that is posted on Google to the hostess, only to be told that it s an old menu and has not been updated yet by management. When I asked her to please have her manager kindly update the menu I was told that there is nothing they can do about it. It Has to be done by corporate. At that point, I simply gave up and decided to go elsewhere.

The appetizers were overall great Its definitely texmex sushi. Lots of fried rolls. I opted for a non fried roll but it was still overpowered by the cream cheese. I would say if you want fresh traditional rolls better off at another restaurant. If you have a group of people with different palettes - some like fried some dont- youve got options here.
