The food is usually acceptable; the service is usually unacceptable, as the waiters disappear after the meal is served. But the main reason I rate this restaurant so low is the filthy restrooms. They smell terrible and my shoes stick to the floor, which makes me wonder how clean the kitchen can be.

The first thing I noticed about this place was one of the trucks out front had a new sign which said, New Management. Therefore everything else in this review may be subject to change. I took this into account when I went into the place, because it got good reviews from Google, Yelp, and Trip Advisor. What could go wrong? The parking lot wasnt full, but it also wasnt empty. Most restaurants have packed parking lots around meal time but this wasnt the case. So, I went inside, and the first thing I saw was one of the employees setting up a portable AC unit near the walkway, which made me wonder if they were anticipating problems with the main AC unit. Thankfully the place was cool on the inside. Not much of the decor lept out at me, which comprised of wood slat walls and a stained particle board ceiling. There already seemed to be a crowd of people listening to live music in the bar room adjacent to the dining area, so I wasnt bowled over with loud singing where I could barely hear my guests across the table, which was good. However, the song choice included Fly Me to the Moon, and Route 66. Older songs which fit the current audience, as most of the people in the restaurant were in the 60+ range. Good songs, but it really didnt fit the Tex-Mex atmosphere. The only time when people got up and started cheering the singer was when he started to sing La Bamba. Feeling in the mood for mariscos, I ordered the Shrimp and Spinach Enchiladas. Paired with Mexican rice and beans, it seemed like a good choice. The shrimp was cooked well, except the cheese that was used was mozzarella and the sauce was marinara which made it taste more like a confused Italian dish wrapped in corn tortillas. One thing I will give credit to was the manager on duty, who came to the table to check to see if everything was ok. So, Ill give him that. However, Im honestly sure if I would go there again, as there were too many things that seemed out of place. But again, its under new management, so hopefully the details will get worked out in the future.

Yes, a New Spot! My Brown Sugar P and I are checking out in our to be neighborhood. The food was really good and our waiter (Victor) was Cool too. The lunch specials were spot on, we cant wait to go back. When youre in the area, stop by Tio Carlos and enjoy a meal or two!!!

The manager Ray was amazing! The food was delicious. Ordered the Pork in salsa verde and it was tender and very flavorful. Margaritas hit the spot and the music being played was great: classic salsa always hits the spot. Birria tacos were also very delicious. Will definitely be going back.

I miss Tio Carlos! I came all the time for years. I remember they were near Beltline and my Mom and I order all the time however I am vegetarian and didnt realize the refried beans had pork lard. I wish that you guys could have an alternative and perhaps have no lard in the beans or have a vegetarian option. Maybe refried black beans. I would love to come back and try it if you would.

We were driving through town looking for a place to eat to then continue our journey. Only place to eat latin food! Its SO GOOD! And not just your run of the mill texmex. We got the mango tilapia, Ropa Viejas, and some pupusas. All were FANTASTIC! Everything was just absolutely amazing. Great margaritas too! Okay back to eating! Had to stop and type this cause OMG!

I was a little torn on writing this one. The service felt very personal and home-like. Ordered the Ribeye and steak quesadillas. I saw a picture online that was posted by one of the employees of the Ribeye the day before so that made me want to go. Unfortunately, the $30 Ribeye looked nothing like the picture and what I received. I asked the server about it, and showed her the picture. She didn t really have an answer. Some of the sides we ordered were missing and had to ask a couple times for it. The steak quesadillas were pretty good.

The bean dip carried heavy. The restaurant was super packed when I went but Im sure everything would have been quicker had there not been two huge parties on that day. They have a lot of things on the menu but they do not have very traditional dishes. So come in knowing that the food will be tex-mex. The dean dip however is a star.

I was there two days in a row, for their tilapia. First day perfect customer service and food, second day I had a different waitress, she was not as attentive as the first day I was there, and the fish did not have quite the same amonut of spices as my first visit. Overall, I was satisfied both days and certainly recommend Tio Carlos.

Delicious Tex Mex in Irving! This place is hidden and easy to miss but once I discovered it I had to go back again with the family. The food is fresh and flavourful, loved the salsa and black beans dip with chips that they bring ,I had the brisket tacos and they were so so good, they come with rice, beans and salad with avocados. Their frozen margaritas are sneaky! 2 will do the trick! They now serve a brunch buffet on Sundays, including an omelet station and the best pancakes Ive ever had. They have ladies night on Wednesday now with $4 margaritas! If you havent been in a while, its worth a visit. Wonderful changes are happening!

I stopped by today for the first time and ordered the fajitas. Maria my server was very friendly and took my order right away. My family went to Tios after my mothers passing and the service was not good and they changed the amount of tip we left by raising it to what they wanted. Texmex for lunch today at Tio Carlos on Rochelle and OConner. It never ceases to amaze me that you drive around and never know what you pass. It was very good. Ray had Mango Avocado Tilapia and I had my favorite cheese and onion enchiladas. We must have been hungry bc we at most of the chips and salsa. I suggest giving it a try!

The service is good, and the people are friendly. Unfortunately the food doesnt quite meet expectations. As an appetizer I ordered a queso, and it had large chunks of onion in it which was a little disappointing. As an entrée I ordered some chicken enchiladas and the chicken tasted canned. I also thought the rice was kinda dry. My husband had the Mango Avocado Burger, and it was good. If I come back again Ill probably get the burger my husband had.

One of the saddest version of a carne guisada plate Ive ever had; specially from a Latin grill. I would compare it to many tasteless cuts of meats in so many American eatery places that attempts to copy authentic Latin Cuisine. I could not finish the plate. $15. Served DP that I did not order and mistakes made on my receipt as I was about to sign. Place is outdated and has a funky odor at best. Servers were friendly.
